We stopped for lunch on a lovely sunny day so we were able to sit outside overlooking the attractive town centre. We both ordered rolls, a Ham and Salad roll and a Goats Cheese with Red Onion Marmalade roll, both served in Brioche rolls. Both rolls were delicious along with good Cappuccinos. There was also a tempting selection of cakes to which we succumbed. A chocolate brownie and a cinnamon doughnut ring, which frankly was probably the best doughnut ever tasted and bought couple more to take away. Staff very friendly and helpful. A delightful place to sit whilst enjoying lunch. Only downside was pricy at over £4 per roll and doughnuts were almost £2 each. Still bought 2 to take away though as were so delicious.

Visited with a friend who specifically asked the ingredients of a product as she has a severe nut allergy. The person at the till looked at the ingredients and said ‘no allergens listed’ then proceeded to read out the ingredients … including flour (GLUTEN), EGGS, MILK… All obvious allergens, not an issue in this case, but nonetheless, this is a serious issue. The main cause for concern here is that I had already ordered a NUT flapjack for someone else in the party and even after being made aware of the nut allergy, the server used the SAME tongs for a nut free item. This is a serious incident and the management need to take this very matter in hand before someone is made very ill. I shall not visit again or recommend.

Diabolical customer care. Having bought and sold businesses myself, I have always made sure that existing customers were cared for and handed over, or cancelled and refunded. I booked Mother's day this year and I just called to check if I could add one more person and was asked if it was with the Dial House, I said yes and she said, 'no we don't do that anymore. They previous owner sold the businesses and it is just a cafe now'. How can you be that short sighted to take over a business and not honour the bookings or cancel them? It was all on a booking system, so I would imagine a pretty easy process by email. Or at least insist that the previous owners cancelled bookings as part of the sales process. That does nothing for your reputation and tells me that this new business cares very little about customer service.

Attended for a wedding. Strange atmosphere as the place has been sold and due to be renovated but bookings were being honoured by staff who had been made redundant! Lots of bare walls and unwanted items lying about. BUT food was excellent, the staff were friendly and helpful and the espresso martinis were good!

We’ve eaten here before quite a while ago so our expectations were high. The greeting greeting and place seemed to have something missing. No atmosphere and sticky tables, thr menu was sparse and then to be told two of the remaining dishes weren’t available really narrowed the choice down. The excuse was the place was being refitted and basically the owners were running everything down, not our words but the staff ! The food served was quite poor for taste quality and value, chicken dry fish over cooked. The bill had the tip added on which we paid because we thought at least the staff tried their best in strange circumstances. We certainly won’t be back who ever takes over or refits the place !

We booked, turned up a little early and had to wait a while for someone to seat us. There was one other table occupied so not sure why it took so long. The eclectic style was interesting if a bit chaotic. We sat at an old wooden table with feature chairs but I had to swap mine as it was really uncomfortable and not very well upholstered. We waited quite a while for service for each course, surprising as there was a max of 3 tables occupied at any one time. The food was good. Not exceptional but good quality, tasty, well cooked and presented. My partner's favourite course was his very good steak (locally sourced), mine was the fabulous cheese at the end - the cheese itself was very good but all the extras were really interesting and different. The waitress was pleasant but we did feel as if the whole place was running without enthusiasm. No attempt at any personal touch or chat. No rudeness either. But given that so much effort has gone into the decor and fittings being so different and the food and reputation are so good, it felt a bit flat.

Really disappointed. After a wonderful experience last summer, I booked it for my mum’s birthday. Despite it not being busy, everything took forever. It took over 3 hours to have a roast and desert. It took ages to have our order taken and it felt like we’d been forgotten about. When the food came it was all ok, but the wait was infuriating. And, when it was time to pay, all the staff had already got their coats on or sitting down eating themselves. We felt like an inconvenience. After recommending the place to so many people as my last visit was so lovely due to the quality of food and service, I’m a little embarrassed if this is now the norm.

I'm always happy to give a restaurant the benefit of the doubt after a poor experience and try them again. Sadly nothing has changed apart from the restaurant was warm. Poor service, long wait for the starters (we had all pre-ordered) and the most miniscule piece of venison I have ever been served. Don't waste your money here, eat at the Kings Arms or The Crown!

Having read good things about the Dial House we were looking forward to our Sunday lunch here but it proved to be very disappointing with us walking out after waiting an hour for our main course (which never did arrive!). We were on time , the order was taken promptly and the starter came quickly. There was then a long wait for mains and in spite of reminding staff nothing arrived. Frustrated we upped sticks , paid for our starters and drinks , received a half hearted sorry from a young lady at the front desk and headed off in search of a farm shop with our day’s plans ruined. I guess we won’t be going back.

You know when you want it to be good , you really do and it isn’t and that disappointment sets in because you know on a different day it could have been ? Sigh. . Tbf the room was lovely, but the whole thing came crashing down like a house of cards when the old stale food (terrine, and rubber leather overcooked beef wellington) and a narrative that carried through to breakfast too happened. Never have I seen an over promise of 3 rosette stars and an under delivery so apparent, especially at the price point. This is our experience. I don’t want to diss them too much because they were polite ( far more than me now I’ve calmed down after speaking to their kitchen in the bluntest terms) . I think they are low on motivation, cash flow and low on guests this time of year anyway , as most places are. But we were told they are up for sale ,so they are trying to muddle through and it sadly showed. Nice rooms and my advice is go to the pub over the road for food, which is lovely.

Birthday Sunday lunch with my family, there were 7 of us. On arrival the dining area was not exactly warm and unfortunately as the temperature dropped outside so did the temperature inside. We normally would have finished lunch with a coffee but decided to go home for coffee and to warm up. There was a woodburner in the dining area but no-one was looking after this and it had gone out The food and service was great but the cold restaurant did spoil what should have been a nice Sunday lunch. My advice is only go when the weather is warmer!

First off the positives of which there are several. Lovely room in a quirky old building situated right in the middle of a picturesque market square. The food was very good and they obviously have a great chef. However overall we left feeling somewhat disappointed. The staff and organisation are somewhat chaotic, everything is a problem and you are left feeling like you’re an imposition. Unacceptable when they are charging the money which they are. From the moment we walked in and the lady completely ignored us despite there being not one customer in the place to the other staff who have very little cue what’s going on. It’s lacking a manager or leader that should be on top of it. The downstairs communal areas are also very cold and minor things like missing/broken light bulbs let it down. Generally an unwelcoming experience which is a shame as it could easily be so much better. Sadly the customer service falls sort of the competition at this level.

I haven't actually eaten here because, although on May 28th we made a reservation on-line for Wednesday June 8th, which was confirmed by email from the Dial House on the same day May 28th, today Sunday 5th June at 8.43 am, three days before our expected reservation they rang to cancel it. Their excuse was that they no longer serve lunch on Wednesdays. This is obviously untrue and they were not honest with the reason for blowing us out at such short notice, we checked on-line and nearly every Wednesday this month is booked for lunch. They then sent an email confirming the cancellation, with no apology, proper explanation or anything. We feel badly let down as we were having lunch with friends visiting from Singapore and are now having to find somewhere else to lunch. The reviews on-line praise their food and accommodation, such a shame it's not backed by excellent Customer Service.

Good parking in the town square, easy accessible.Shown straight to a table and given menus, whilst considering what to eat, you can take in the setting and the quirky eclectic group or art and crafts which are set around you.The Sunday menu is fairly simple roasts, beef chicken pork belly along with a burger and three vegetarian options. We went for thicken, this when it arrived was really attractively presented and extremely tasty, but the vegetables with meal included whole carrot which had been cooked orange juice and star anise this was frankly joyful!Portions are fairly generous and tasty We encounter a slight hick up with the service over desert, this clearly upset the staff, but provided us with time to digest the main before attacking the deserts. This is a great place to eat, and we will arrange to stop here again, and may even try the rooms so that we can enjoy the food with no rush.Well worth a try

Very large bath, my wife felt she could do the breast stroke in it, well, not that long, but stretched out and went underwater. Amazing waterfall separate shower. They normally have a vinyll record player, but again due to the current situation, this facility was not available. They do have a small selection of vinyll avalable in a library. This place is very querky, as everything, furniture, crockery, paintings etc is for sale. They had an old school, revolving blackboard with all their events posted. Brillaint idea. There was a mock up of an old kitchen, which over looked the open plan main kitchen. We booked DBB with a £23 allowance for dinner, which we didn't need to use, as the set menu was more than adequate. Well presented dishes, very tasty. Shame that the waitress wasn't aware of what one of the starters was, 'oh they are having it on the next table'. A bit of training required. As a resident, you do get a complimentary night cap, which was appreciated., however, not offered. The whiskey selection was limited, with no proprietory brands available, ie, Grouse etc. So if you ordered a whiskey and ginger, there was only malt style available.Breakfast was pre-booked due to the current situation. We were not disappointed. Local ingredients for all meals. Well presented, lovely poached eggs. I did hear from another table that they had run out of tomato ketchup, what?Staff are very friendly and helpful. Great location, parking is now on the Market Place. There are a few shops in Reepham with Kerry's Pine shop at the old Railway Station. Great place to start a bike ride to Norwich or Aylsham.Would totaly recommend the Dial House for staying or just eating, will be back.

We have just returned back home after a 3 night stay at The Dial House, having had a wonderful ‘staycation’. It was our first venture into a hotel or restaurant since March of this year and I was relieved to feel in such good hands. Every consideration had been taken in terms of hygiene and social distancing and I was surprised at how natural everything felt (I had been worried that it would ruin the experience of dining out etc). We had amazing dinners and breakfasts and even managed to enjoy a spot of retail therapy in the onsite Vegas Vintage! A really welcome break for me and my children after a challenging few months of home schooling...I will be back soon to take further advantage of the roll top baths!!

We dined at the Dial House in Reepham on the 18th July and honestly apalled by the lack of Covid safety awareness. I wrote to the proprietor Mr Jones a couple of days later asking for his comments but sadly to date have had no response. My letter to him is below.... please read and if you value your health please don't dine here. Please not that since I wrote, their website has now been updated with some 'woolly' Covid info...Dear Mr JonesI do subscribe to your newsletter Dial House Lifestyle and so when I received the most recent edition (15), I saw that you were due to re-open on the 4th July and outlined in that email were the measures you were going to employ to keep your customers safe.I booked on line for dinner at 7:00PM on Saturday 18th July – 5 people. On my booking I had stated that if possible we would like a quiet area as we wanted to keep an elderly relative as safe as possible. We arrived promptly and used the hand sanitizer and were show to the room to the right. There are four tables in that space and whilst we dined three were occupied. This was a little disconcerting if trying to observe social distancing. The young lady who took our order was pleasant but by her own admission was new – we do all have to start somewhere! The table was sticky so I did ask for a cloth, which arrived quickly. However it gave me a first impression of you being less than vigilant about sanitisationFood was good.Distanced, safe service was non-existent. Service was not to a trolley (even though there was one right next to our table) or the empty table next to us, but by standing at the end of the table and leaning across – which in itself is not considered good practice. We were served by our new young lady plus her ‘shadow’ – so instead of trying to keep risk to a minimum it was being doubled, and why you would have a new person showing someone else ‘the ropes’ is beyond me?Attitude of managers was flippant, bordering on facetious. One of our party did speak to the female manager about the lack of social distancing who then came to our table, pulled the redundant trolley across with the phrase... “Is that better for you?”When paying, the service again was discussed, and the female manager did try and defend the serving process by saying that quite a lot of guests ask to be served ‘normally’. She was also indignant about the lack of tip.Observing what I did on Saturday it is crystal clear that no training what so ever has been undertaken with the waiting staff on how best to operate under the current climate and you are putting not only your customers, but your staff at extreme risk.Whilst your news letter did outline what you would be doing to keep customers safe, having looked on your website I see there is not one single reference to Covid-19. I am absolutely astonished by this, surely that is the new normal for all businesses who have an on line presence??You and your management team should have tighter control on how you operate. When restaurant guests arrive spend one minute (and that would be all it takes) showing the hand sanitiser, the directional arrows, telling them how the meal will be served – to a trolley or table for them to help themselves, one dedicated server. If people prefer normal service it should be re-iterated why you are serving ‘safely’Your newsletter mentions many times that you need people to keep supporting you – you will lose that support very quickly if you don’t support them by keeping them as safe as possible.Consistent training is key to a successful business and also professional, experienced managers. At the moment I don’t think you have either.I would appreciate your thoughts on the matter as I feel it is too important to be ignored

My partner and 3 children were so excited to leave the house and have a meal out for the first time in months and the Dial House did not disappoint. We all had either the chicken or pork belly roasts which came with enormous helpings of delicious veggies cooked to perfection. The portions were generous so we had to share the chocolate torte which was divine! We have always enjoyed our visits to the Dial house in the last 2 years, but were slightly apprehensive of dinning out under COVID restrictions, especially with children. But as soon as we arrived the staff made us feel welcome and at ease with the new social distancing rules. I’m pleased to say the Dial House has been able to maintain its individual charm throughout the major shift in the restaurant industry. We had a thoroughly tasty, filling and relaxing meal, can’t wait to come back!

After who knows how many weeks of what seemed like working constantly, home schooling, cleaning, DIY, this was a well needed and earned break! The first evening we could ship the kids off to the Grandparents, we did! We booked a table at the Dial house first of all, then thought screw it, we’ll book a room too! We stayed in the Africa room, clean, lovely decor, comfy bed and amazing bath! We were welcomed with a smile and enthusiastic energy! Before dinner we enjoyed a drink and nibbles on the terrace and then went through to the Aga room for our dinner! We enjoyed a 3 course meal including the cote de boeuf (friggin insane!). We had Tom serving us, who was great and a good laugh! In the morning we enjoyed way too much of the breakfast (eyes bigger than our bellies). It was all delicious! What was lovely is that, yes safety measure for Covid were in place like hand sanitising, a slight change in the way good was served and different seating arrangement, but it was OTT, didn’t feel clinical. It was the same chilled and comfortable atmosphere we have come to know and love about the Dial house. We will be returning, very soon!

Booked a table online, super easy no fuss. Visited with family on way back from beach for Sunday roast. Absolutely perfect for us. Lots of space, big tables and good service. Food perfect again, staff really accomodating for my daughter's allergies and plenty of food to go round with everything you want in a roast. Yes I want to buy most of the furniture and heaps to look at from the kooky cellar to the Vintage clothes shop. Very relaxed atmosphere, fine to go with small kids. Will definitely go again.

This was our first takeaway from the Dial House, on the eve of their restaurant reopening. Pick up was easy, all the elements well labelled and careful instructions for the food preparation (essentially stick it in the oven !). Our starters were ham hock and potted smoked haddock, delicious, and we both had the slow cooked shoulder of Swannington lamb, which was wonderfully tender and tasty; the new potatoes and greens were also local, and portions were generous. We only just managed to finish the legendary Farmyard chocolate bar and white chocolate cheesecake. That this can all be provided for £22 per head is nothing short of amazing.....can't wait !.We're already booked to enjoy another meal, but this time in the reopened restaurant

We have been going here for coffee and scones regularly over the years and enjoyed doing so, however things have changed under the new management. I have reviewed this place under the old management as excellent but the last time we visited we felt very much an inconvenience. When we said we would like coffee and cakes the waiter looked put out and was trying his best to find a reason to say no. Eventually we was told if you aren't too long you can have coffee and a cake, which was ok but all the time we was there we felt like they couldn't wait to get rid of us. I have since been told that the owners have decided to stop supplying coffee and cakes and concentrate on full meals which seems an odd choice. The price they have been charging for coffee and a scone must have been a cracking profit margin product which we have been willing to pay for because the setting was nice. I hope the new venture of dropping the regulars who like a coffee and cake in favour of higher profit margins for full meals work out for them as we won't be returning after being made to feel unwelcome.

Myself and a couple of friends decided to book on the day (in the morning) to go for afternoon that day as a treat. Booked via the website on the afternoon page at the time we wanted and included ‘afternoon tea’ in the comment section as there was no confirmation it was for afternoon tea.Received a snotty voice message to say ‘the dial house requires 48hours notice - 24hours at a push and to cancel the booking or come for lunch instead as they don’t have the stock for afternoon tea’. I was shocked at the attitude of the lady who rang me and shocked at how much notice is required for afternoon tea.I know that recently the Dial house has stopped doing afternoon tea during the week and only at the weekend. I think this is terrible and something you would not expect of a nice place like the dial house. You would expect somewhere like the dial house to have the ‘stock’ for afternoon tea for someone to ring up on the day and book. They are missing out big time for potential customers and money as we would have loved to have come for afternoon tea. Will not be booking again. Very disappointed.

We were with friends and booked two rooms Raj and Parisienne . When I booked the person on reception was very helpful and suggested these two rooms as they are next to each other. They were the perfect choice. Beautiful bathrooms, very spacious and comfortable. We ate dinner in the restaurant which was lovely and we were looked after extremely well. Bed so comfortable and breakfast delicious. The team there were very friendly and we had a fabulous night away. We will be back!

We have stayed before at the dial house in the China room but this time chose the Raj, an amazing room beautifully decorated, plenty of space, chairs and a table, large bed and large bathroom with a lovely free standing bath tub and large shower. Some steep steps the the room so probably not practical for some. Tea and coffee facilities and we loved playing some old vinyls on the record player. The dinner and breakfast were amazing, the best food we have had at a hotel in a very long time! The staff are all very friendly and helpful. Everything is for sale at the dial house from ornaments to furniture and many antiques. We bought a beautiful vintage sink which we can’t wait to have installed. Reepham is a quaint little village with some lovely walks too.

We have been going to the Dial House for morning coffee for years. This morning we turned up as usual to find that the House no longer serves coffee preferring to concentrate on meals only. In addition this wonderful old building has been turned into a second rate antique shop with all the furniture up for sale - most is mid century and sixties, completely out of the style of the building. The wonderful places where we used to sit for coffee (for example in front of the log burning fire) have been taken over by the "for sale" furniture. The Dial House used to be a gem in the crown of North Norfolk - now it might be good for meals, but this lovely meeting place, where the coffee was excellent for locals and visitors alike, has lost its soul. Great shame. I urge the owners to revisit the decision not to serve morning coffee (and its splendid cake and scones!)and to give Reepham a focal point once again.

I surprised my other half to a stay here overnight and we both enjoyed a 3 course meal and breakfast during our stay, needless to say she was blown away. The rooms were just as picture perfect as the photos on the website and the staff went out of their way to make our stay welcoming and intimate. Reepham itself is a lovely village and we enjoyed visiting the pub opposite for a pint and browsing the local farm shop/butcher. The food at Dial House was very tasty, my other half had pie for main and I had the hake which was delicious albeit a little light for my large appetite. Breakfast was a particular highlight for me which finished off our stay perfectly! We will certainly be back and may even visit your other establishment in Norwich for for an evening meal.

This beautiful heritage property in the historic market town of Reepham is definitely worth a stay! The bedroom product is excellent and our room (the Chinese Room) was done extremely well; great linens, v high quality bathroom, very spacious, extremely well designed and decorated, and lastly thought it good value for money. The ground floor bar/restaurant/tea area is a little, umm how shall we say, different... Some lovely object d’art and antique things, and some random nasty 50s or 60s furniture (but, then it’s down to taste...). The service is genuine and wanting to please, even if a little lacking in experience... I would definitely return, and highly recommend a stay!

The Reedcutters was the mid point on our walk while holidaying in Norfolk. We had a warm welcome and a substantial lunch, good old fashioned pub grub. No complaints at all, it's a 'what you see is what you get' kind of pub, nothing fancy but friendly, clean and good value 👍
