The Black Swan in Broadland

My wife and I stayed at the Black Swan last weekend as it's location was central to our trip requirements. I have to to say, what a lovely establishment it is. We could not fault the cleanliness of the room that we stayed in (No 5), which was well appointed, functional, had all of the room facilities that we required and was visited by housekeeping each day for a freshen up. All of the staff that we interacted with were polite, competent and very friendly. We had a meal in the restaurant on Saturday night with some family members. All of our party enjoyed the food and atmosphere, and could not find fault. Breakfast was included in the room price and both my wife and chose the full English breakfast, which came piping hot, well presented and beautifully cooked. The bar is pleasant with a wood burning stove, a good selection of beers and adequate seating. It has it's fair share of locals that frequent the bar, who are all friendly and engaging if you take the trouble interact. All in all, we would highly recommend the Black Swan and will be staying again when visiting family in the area.

We had a wake to attend at the Black Swann recently. The carpark is a nightmare, there are no lines to designate parking spaces, so of course people park stupidly taking up much more room than needed. It is also gravel, so it is not accessible. We ended up parking on the road, with my husband struggling with my wheelchair across the gravel carpark to enter. The door is nice and wide, but there is a side table placed in the tiny entrance way which makes entering with a wheelchair really difficult, especially since the doors are so heavy. The disabled toilet is also really hard to get in and out of because of the side table blocking the hallway. The toilet was also dirty. Everyone seemed to enjoy the food but it was covered in cling film, and the staff didn't seem inclined to uncover it themselves. We brought our own food as the function menu doesn't cater for vegans. I'm sure we could have requested something but last time we did that, we were supplied with something different to what we had asked for. Unfortunately I went hungry that time. There wasn't anything vegan on the regular menu, or the specials menu that I could see. I was surprised by this because the website boasts vegan options. The decor is nice and homely, whilst being tasteful, and the staff all seemed welcoming and polite. Although the Black Swan is a lovely looking pub, I can't help but note they are really missing out on some essentials to providing a great wake.

Stayed here for 1 night (last night) for work. Had the best sleep, the bed was so comfy and the room was quiet and pitch black. Tea coffee hot chocolate biscuits shower gel in the room, lovely shower. Had an evening meal and I’m just now having breakfast, food is great and service too. Really lovely team of staff. I wish I was working over here for another night tonight!

Went to another funeral wake here,and as usual the buffet was excellent. Friendly staff and clean room .Only drawback was not able to park in car park so had to park on road.Will have to get there earlier next time.

We stopped off at the Black Swan for dinner with friends, and had a lovely evening. The food was great, and the portions were very generous. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and overall the atmosphere was great. Would definitely recommend!

Visited for a wake, so perhaps not the best circumstances. However, good food and service, pleasant and helpful staff. Only downside is limited parking. Will definitely be going again to check out the full menu.

This pub grub, bed and breakfast location is great. Due to my travels for business, the only place I could get a room was here and I'm very glad I found this place as I'll be recommending it to other colleagues instead of our usual premier inn booking. Service was quick and very friendly. I was welcomed and dealt with professionally. The food is very well presented and tasted up to my standards. I had the steak burger with garlic bread on the side. The burger was very juicy and cooked to perfection. Couldn't fault it to be honest. If I HAD to be picky...I would say the fries should be homemade and that would be 10/10! I was looking around and noticed the special for the day was a pie of some sort and the portion size was extremely generous, massive in a good way 🤣!! I love it. Oh...I can't forget to mention the lovely wood burning stove which kept us all warm!! I also had a room here and that too was just very clean, spacious and homey feeling. I can't really say much more other than I am happy with my experience. I would recommend this place for your pit stop next time 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I think that pretty much every cremation wake is held here. Its a convenient venue but more than that , good food! The fare we had was a buffet of sandwiches, sausage rolls etc but all well filled and tasty

I was very impressed, I rang to let them know my visit for work would be brief and I would be arriving late and leaving early. They took my breakfast order there and then over the phone and said it would be served at 7am. It was there at exactly 7am and was a better standard than usual. It allowed me to be on my way swiftly and without an empty stomach! Many thanks

I ordered the special of the pork chop with apple cider and cream sauce. Not once was I advised that this was changed when it arrived it came with mint sauce. When I escalated to wait staff I was offered apple sauce from a jar and a fresh plate, which I was very thankful for as I find mint sauce not only overpowering but extremely disgusting to my palette. It appeared that the wait staff were also not made aware of this change. Had I know it would come with mint sauce I would NOT have ordered this meal! Made what was shaping up to a lovely meal sour!

Stayed overnight, the pub and restaurant have a really nice feel to it.Rooms were great, comfortable and equivalent to home. Restaurant meal was good and the staff friendly. Breakfast was excellent and cooked to order, no lukewarm buffet! We stayed after visiting the Thursford Christmas show about 26 miles away.Hoping to do the same next year and would definitely stay here.

Convenient location for our daily outings, great staff, comfortable room, excellent meals, and we'll prepared lunch bags every day.

The food and the restaurant ambience is excellent, i eat at the hotel during every stay, the menu offers excellent variety and the food is to an excellent standard. The staff are very friendly and nothing is an issue for them. bon appetite.

Birthday surprise from my partner normally stay in Norwich city. as footie fan.Lovely cosy inn. We had a small room but everything there. Tea coffee choices and biscuits. View of the village green. Slight hiccup bed was shot I thought could feel the springs restless night. Sorted ...guessing mattress was wrong side up. Breakfast included in the price great value for money. Took a taxi to Norwich £13 each way. Ate in the restaurant Saturday evening helpful staff good choices plentiful but a bit pricey. Overall would come again fab stay . I guess a downside to our room 4 was low ceilings if you were 6ft + and our window above the outside seating area could mean noise in the summer months. I left my suitcase behind ‍♀️swift service and a phone call meant it was retrieved less than 15 minutes after leaving. We will be back may give Norwich city hotels a miss next carrow road visit

We had our wedding reception here with 36 guests in the back function room. The food was amazing. The staff were fantastic, in particular Sophie and Jade. We were so well looked after. We hired out all the accommodation too for our family who had travelled to the venue. It was such a brilliant day. Thank you so much.

I was at the restaurant with 5 friends. I had an onion and goats cheese galette which was very nice. The rest of the plate was dismal. I had new potatoes which were completely dry, not even coated in butter. The salad was just a tiny amount of lettuce, again no dressing. I did mention my disappointment to the waitress and she said she would pass my comments to the chef. There was no effort whatsoever to make the food appealing. A child of 5 could have done but I’m assuming it was a trained chef. The desert was Bakewell tart which was really tiny and one very small scoop of ice cream. This meal was quite expensive and the desert was £6.95!!! It wasn’t worth it and I should complained and wish I had. However I shall not be going there again and neither will my friends.

The place was clean and well presented. We thought yes this will do.Room 10 was presented as their photo. The shower room was nice, apart from mouldy sealant and towel rail hanging off. Thats where it ended. The view as they say is incorrect, roof tiles of the opposite roof are the view, but unimportant. As the weather was hot we needed the window open. The air con compresser sited directly below our window running all night deprived us of a good nights sleep . To enhance the experience they have a smoking table again under our window with that delightful smell. The party piece. was Sunday night. My partner asked the couple at said table to tone it down it was 12 o clock and we had a long drive ahead the next morning. At 12.20 I tried to contact the manager number left in the book to no avail, with no night security on site I went down to confront them. It stopped and they disappeared into the building. However our hall lights and doors banging continued until 1.30. mmm? Then to round it off at 6 am the Americans sat at the table talking accompanied by the entrance door slamming. So 4hrs kip!My partner was furious but as usual no manager available instead left it for the young girl to deal with. I was looking for some redress for the night before as we checked out.I said I would give the manager the right to reply before writing a review.No reply again. so what he has to say here is irrelevant unless of coarse he wants to compensate us?

My daughter and I ate here recently. It may have been because the hour was a little late (8.30pm on a Saturday night) but it was very quiet and therefore a little lacking in "atmosphere". (Coming from London, we were generally surprised by the early closing hours of most establishments in Norfolk!) I had a really excellent fillet steak with lovely crispy chips and salad and my daughter had the fish and chips which was also tasty. Service was prompt and friendly. I also have to applaud the ladies loo which was very clean and well appointed.

Booked 7 rooms for a wedding, be aware they charge £15 for an early book in which they don’t point out at the time of booking. I had 2 adults and 4 children come for breakfast and was charged £69.10 although when I booked I was told it was £8.95 for adults, £5.50 for children so expected to pay £39.90, they deny they ever quoted this but I wrote it down when they originally quoted. I was also charged £6.30 for lattes I didn’t have. They were polite when I queried it but refused to do anything about it. It was unfair that my party were all charged £15 early book in when they said they would have my room and maybe one more ready for us all to change before the wedding. I will not be recommending them again.

Ate here at the black swan very disappointed with the food for the cost and valueIt was terrible I had lasagna no meat just all sauce very stodgy, another party member had the pie hardly any veg this place is not value for money and won’t be returning

We called into the Black Swan for Sunday lunch and was impressed with food so whilst staying in the area had other meals including walk in breakfast . staff very helpful and friendly.

We have visited the Black Swan on numerous occasions over the past few years. The standard of the food and service never disappoints and is constantly developing. Last night (2/11/21) we had a table booked for myself and my 10 year old son. We were warmly greeted and shown to our table. Drinks were served within minutes and sufficient time allowed for decisions to be made from the evolving standard and specials menu. After some deliberation the choice was made for the chicken and ham pie for myself. My sons decision was far more efficient once the lasagne caught his eye. The food was delivered as you would expect from the Black Swan. An excellent meal once again for myself and a clean plate and smiles from my son identifies all was well with his meal also. If you want a great meal then look no further. The Black Swan serves food way above the pub grub standard. Highly recommended by us both.

We came here a couple of days ago for a quick lunch. There were 8 of us in total. The restaurant was very busy and we were seated on two separate tables (which I'd said we were happy to do as it was a late booking).What can I say...? The food was wonderful. The selection of beers was great (shame I was driving!!!). The staff were were very polite and accommodating (especially when encountering a 4 year old). The whole atmosphere was just really great. The location next to the river was perfect. Only intended staying for an hour...two hours later we finally dragged ourselves away!If you're ever in the area pay them a visit. You won't be disappointed. Next time I'm in the area...I will!

Lovely room, fantastic food - the steak & burger was 1st class…… good breakfast with thick bacon and proper sausage, not the usual sawdust variety, friendly, clean, nice covered terrace, good handling of current restrictions ie text ordering etc, hand sanitizer everywhere. Will definitely return.

This has always been one of our favourite restaurants, but lt seems that sadly just lately the usual high standards are not being met. Over the last few weeks, the food has not always been up to usual expectations and is very hit and miss. The menu offerings are often not available which can be extremely disappointing. In order to obtain its previous great reputation, I think some changes are in order. I am not too sure what's happened but it's a real shame and it seems it is not just my wife and I that are disappointed. We will not be returning until we hear that normality is restored.

We dined with them on a Thursday night, following their guidance to sit in the bar area which could not be booked (as we had a dog with us). All was delightful.We returned on Saturday night and sat in the covered area outside, again following the directions to text food and drink orders. Once our drinks were delivered we were told that they’re not serving food to outside tables (this was despite there being food delivered to another outdoor table). I’d have expected the management to apologise and refund our drinks (soft drinks) that we left as we had to find a venue that could cater for all their tables. The first experience was great, which made us return customers. The second experience was a great example of how a small gesture would have kept us as repeat customers.

What an amazing find, beautiful hotel/pub in a countryside location. Not far out of Norwich, it truly is a wonderful place. Friendly, helpful staff who couldn’t be more accommodating. The hotel rooms are adequate in size, nicely decorated and perfect for our requirements. The food both at dinner and breakfast is excellent, amazing value for money. Highly recommended!

Not far out of Norwich at all, in a beautiful little place on the outskirts of Norwich. We had such a lovely family evening at The Black Swan. Food was so tasty with more than adequate portions. I had the seafood linguine, which I would certainly recommend. Service was also very good. Very friendly staff that couldn’t do enough for our table. We will be back soon and next time to stay in one of the rooms!

Stayed here for a couple of days in September. Accommodation and food were excellent. Rooms were clean everything looked brand-new upstairs. Down in the bar the food was fantastic, I highly recommend the steaks. These guys should enter ‘’4 in a bed’’. They would win ! I will definitely be staying here again on my next trip in a couple of weeks.

6 adults 1baby and a dog . We had an excellent dinner and breakfast for three days as we were staying nearby. We couldn’t fault the food and the professional friendly service . I would highly recommend this lovely pub 10/10 .

Large parking area. Very pleasant dining room. Very efficient service. Sweet potato and ginger soup with bread - OK £6.50!Lasagne - chunk taken from large tray(?) and re-cooked in oval bowl; rectangular portion didn’t fit bowl and so spilled over the sides and burnt when put into the oven. It was tasty but overcooked. £14 is poor value. Chicken Caesar-salad looked good but there was a sea of sauce beneath(did someone have an accident?), it would have been better to offer a small dish of sauce to choose how much you wanted and at £15+ it was not good value. A lovely atmosphere and pleasant waitresses. Management and chef??

Couldnt fault it, friendly efficient service, fantastic food, good sized portions. The mixed meat roast was huge, plenty of veg and gravy all served very nicely indeed. Coffee & Pistachio Cheesecake is a must.......

Been using the Gov discount scheme to try new places, the Black Swan was a real find, good food and good value, and good friendly service, while I thought that some of the establishments I visited had reduced their portion size and even become frugal with the salt -pepper etc, the Black Swan seems to have realized that this scheme was a great opportunity to increase business and I'm sure they will, --I'll be back ! -- Excellent

First visit to The black swan today. Lovely clean tables, bar area and toilets. Relaxed but safe atmosphere with Covid restrictions. The team didn’t make you feel like you had the plague when serving you. They were really friendly and service was prompt. We had two courses roast turkey which was lovely massive portion and a great selection of seasonal veg. The puddings were delicious chocolate brownie was epic as was the chefs cheesecake. Would visit again

Lovely place. I had the tapas platter & my father the pie of the day. Pie portion was huge with new potatoes & veg. Both very tasty. Would return.

We stayed here as we were visiting relatives, but couldn’t stay with them due to Covid restrictions. It was a delight to stay in this beautifully refurbished pub. The room was really clean and spacious. The staff were really friendly and very accommodating with my vegan breakfast. The bar was great and we had night caps and chatted to locals. Would definitely recommend.

Ordered our bacon burgers with all the trimmings for this evening...able to pick up following guidelines of social contact, beautifully cooked and gr8 portion sizes.The burger was gorgeous.Brightened an evening of this sad and difficult time we are living through.Will try the takeout pizza next we think.

Turned up with our dog hoping to get a table for a family meal. Managed to get a table but the bar was pretty full of a large group of 'loud' men. A member of staff came across to our table before we could make our way to the bar, and brought menu's and took our drinks order to save us from having to struggle to get to the bar, she also apologised for the noise and informed us they would be moving into the restaurant soon. Food came with another apology from another staff member regarding the noise, but it wasn't long before they all moved on into the restaurant. The food was hot and delicious and filling and all of us cleared our plates. Staff were very pleasant and attentive, even bringing a bowl of water over for the dog. Would definitely return.

I was also one of the birthday party that was there last night. And I’m really only writing this review in response to Andrews summary of our complaint. I’m not sure if Andrew was there last night, but if he was it would have been nice for him to have come along to the table to discuss our concerns. Also very disappointed that he has hinted that we were not polite to his staff, as we most definitely were.Heres a summary of why the evening was poor:1. When we ordered drinks, your staff were not fully aware of what options you can offer - as an example I asked what type of Gin was available. The answer was Gordon’s and some flavoured ones. I asked if Hendricks was available, but the server didn’t know. A small point I know, but you do expect the people serving you to know what products are available.2. Starters - these were served promptly, so no issues here. Quality was fine, but the presentation was not up to our previous visits here, which had all been very good, hence the reason for returning! To us it looked they had been prepared hastily, as if the kitchen was under pressure due to many orders going through at much the same time. But no issues with the food quality.3. Main course - despite what Andrew cares to say, this was where it really went wrong. Waiting over an hour between the starter and main courses is not acceptable. And we were not kept updated, offered nibbles (not sure why you would want those between courses) or much else. And if we hadn’t of chased the main, we would probably have continued waiting. Myself, and another of our party both ordered sirloin, as that’s what we ordered last time and it was excellent. Alas not this time - we both agreed that they tasted as if they had salt spilt on them, plus mine was not cooked as ordered. Because of the salty taste we couldn’t finish the steak. Throw in cold vegetables, undercooked peas, curled up fish in batter, and side portions missing - it wasn’t great, and so disappointing compared to previous visits.We did ask to speak to your restaurant manager, and she did apologise, did get us replacement steaks, and also agreed a discount off the bill - but definitely no free bottle of wine - unless the discount equalled that.As the replacement steaks also weren’t great, I did ask if it was the same chef as our previous visit, as the service, presentation and quality were way short of the previous standards - she volunteered the information that it was a different chef, as the head chef was on holiday. She once again apologised for the delay, but this was partly caused by the fact that you also had a large private party in, which caused a back log in the kitchen, which was definitely more than a few minutes! My response was that in all fairness the kitchen, not the front end staff, has a disaster last night - probably due to volume of orders going through.We also noticed, at least one other table having a long wait - but if they decided not to complain, that is their choice.Yes we were given a discount, and the steaks were not charged for, but as I said last night I would have preferred the same level of service, and food quality as previous visits. Also despite all of this we all left a tip - again a reflection it wasn’t the front end staff.To end, I wasn’t going to do this review, and just put it down to the venue having an off night, that happens.But Andrews response to my friends review, after all it was her birthday evening and meal, was very dismissive, hinted that we were impolite, and that we must be complaining just for the sake of it, as everyone else had a fantastic evening, which maybe they did.But I’m afraid that for us it was sub standard compared to previous visits - which I will say again, just so Andrew is clear - were excellent. A real shame overall - and sometimes you learn more from a bad experience in how any complaints or reviews of a bad evening are handled, and the reply/answer that you receive. On this note would have expected better, and acknowledgement that on this occasion the service we received was not up to scratch - and qualify why?

Unfortunately we have had a very bad experience at the Black Swan tonight. Was a birthday treat for myself. Table booked for 19.45 this evening. Had a drink while deciding what to have. Five of us had a starter but I did not. This came out after a reasonable time. Then the wait started eventually after asking when our mains were coming it got to 21.20 and I was getting very hungry by now. It did come out at 21.30. Sorry to say the standard that we are normally used to was not forthcoming. Two of the steaks had to go back as covered in salt, veggies not very hot portion of chips missing. The new steaks that came out not really up to standard but had enough by now. Did not have desert as had own birthday cake. Some charges were taken of the bill. Sorry to say not up to your usual standard.

Stayed here for one night could not praise this place highly enough from the staff to the food and the room absolutely amazing! Planning to go back but this time for 2 nights! Theres lots of little touches that make the difference! Like mini fridge in the hallway with fresh milk and the help yourself cookie jar! All areas of this pub hotel are spotlessly clean!

Lots of familiar options, especially steaks from the grill -cooked to my order. Veg a little dull apart from the Samphire which was an interesting and enjoyable surpriseComfortable restaurant

Great evening spent with friends in a lovely atmosphere, no pressure to eat up and get out, had the Black Swan Suet pudding creamed mash and peas, dessert was sticky toffee pudding and salted caramel ice cream, all portions are of a good size and full of flavour burgers were home made, can't wait to go back and try the battered haddock

Lovely staff. Obviously used to people staying at Elm Farm coming down to get food and internet when Elm Farm have an event on!

Having tried the place several times over the years, things haven't changed.

We had a super Sunday Lunch. Roast Turkey with roast potatoes amazing, pheasant was gorgeous. Deserts were a varied choice, with cheese board.Was amazed to see that the website did not mention a Sunday menu, was only that I saw the reviews on TripAdvisor saying Sunday lunch, that we went!

Like many other reviewers, I was here for a wake recently and was very impressed with the Black Swan. Horsham St Faiths doesn't really have that much to offer but this place is a gem.

I visited before booking to check the place out and was pleasantly surprised by how nice the pub seemed inside and how lovely the staff were. I ordered some fries and spotted some delicious looking sausage rolls on the bar. Upon asking I was told that everything they served was homemade and decided to make a booking for the wake I was arranging.

Situated on the north side of Norwich close to the airport and about 6 miles north of central Norwich.

Had a lovely evening, staff were attentive and food really tasty. Such a lovely atmosphere we have booked our family Christmas lunch here.

I visited last week for lunch with friends. The room in which we sat was not very warm so when a couple sitting next to a radiator left we too their place. I asked the person who appeared to be a manager if he could clean the table but it didn’t happen so I went back to him and asked for something to do it myself. He tour of some paper towelling and gave me that. Our order had still not been taken so I asked about a specific meal and he told me to give him the order at the bar. We had been there for some considerable time by then and apart from entering the establishment the waitress did not turn up until our food was delivered. The food I have to say was good but the service was indifferent with the manager looking at his phone the entire time. What a shame that a good chef was not supported by front of house.

Visited for a business lunch. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Food was spot on. Couldn’t ask for better. Definitely will go back.

This pub allows dogs in the bar which is a must for us as we were on hols. Visited on a Sunday evening and we both had Sunday dinner, a chicken and a pork. Portions ample, plenty of meat, most of the food was hot, the gravy could have been hotter though. Tasty all round. We thought the drinks pretty expensive, think it was £3.30 for a pint of lemonade which seems excessive for a drink from the mixer gun.

We called in for lunch today, in the restaurant. Made very welcome. Lovely comfortable atmosphere. A very interesting menu, excellent food, swiftly served. Friendly attentive service throughout. Exceeded all expectations, will certainly return.

Enjoyed Saturday night with lovely home cooked food had the Salmon which was tasty and my partner had fish and chips with proper hand cut chips

We were on holiday in Norfolk and met up with friends who live there this pub is their local and very nice it was too the service was excellent the homemade lasagna very nice generous portions of everything can recommend this pub we would definitely eat there again

Enjoyed a nice meal with my wife here. Shame about the crying child that kind of spoiled the ambiance for everyone else, but no gripes about the food and friendly staff with good service. Portion sizes are massive so no need for a starter, just go for a main and a dessert. We will be back

We took my Dad here today for lunch before we went to the Aviation Museum nearby and had a lovely meal. Roast beef, Prawn and Crayfish salad and the seafood sharing plate (my husband was hungry!) were chosen and all were very tasty. Would definately recommend, staff were great, decor was very tasteful and there were three clean plates. Would have tried the desserts but we were all comfortably full. Wish you were a bit nearer to us but will return in a couple of weeks on our way up to North Norfolk for the weekend. Thank you.

We had around 30 in our party. I had sent a preorder for the food. The staff were very helpful and the service superb. Lovely way for those who travelled the day before the wedding to chill.

We booked a meal here for our friends that had traveled to our wedding. The staff were great despite us not getting to our table till after the booking as we had to wait for some friends that were traveling up from Stanstead. The food was amazing and the staff were very attentive allthough a little slow when we asked to order more drinks at our table. .

The menu at the Black Swan is an interesting variety of local dishes with a few tasty additions from which to select. Good service and friendly staff.

Came here to try the Sunday roast ,well what can i say best roast i have had in a while,cooked well and also lovely desserts well done to the chef will be back soon.

It was my Wife and I's 26th Wedding anniversary and we thought we would treat ourselves to something better than the average carvery, so off we popped to the Black Swan, we were not disappointed.

Freinds said it was good. Its a lovely place staff are freindly and the food was fantastic, i can eat alot, and beat me. Value for money and beer is good and fair price. And are dog freindly got water for them, be back soon thanks guys.

Very good friendly service. I had crab salad which was very well laid out and prepared. Very clean with a nice atmosphere

Booked a table last minute early Saturday evening, been here on a number of occasions for Sunday roasts, which I have to say are probably the best around! First experience of an evening meal and was not disappointed, we even shared a cheeky starter and dessert. My wife had the sea bass and was very impressed, my lasagne was great too, topped off with great service. We just can’t fault this place and would happily recommend it to anyone.

I wanted to treat my daughter and help her return to normal after a fairly tricky birth so decided to take her and my new grand-daughter out for lunch, although needless to say baby wasn’t bothered.

For me, going out for sunday lunch can be a bit hit and miss. You can pay £10 for a carvery and have peas like bullets or pay a bit more which is cooked fresh and wait for quite some time.

Superb menu choice. Food very good but boeuf bourgignon pie was over salted and our colleague had to send back a roulade which tasted of blue cheese. To be fair, they didn’t charge for it and replaced it with a different dessert.

We went here with four other people and had an excellent meal. Everyone was pleased with the meal. Would go again.

Wechabe been to this restaurant 2/3 times this year so when friends came over for night from Essex thought perfect choice. Lovely atmosphere. All had good starter and main. Creme brulee for dessert was like water so Sent back. We were told was last one and offered another choice. Food was nice but have to say x as experience overall been a better experience previously. Still recommend but the restaurant closed and we were asked to pay in the bar. We b ad a fourth er round in the bar then paid. But it was awkward as to get to to the bar as was full and no one offered to move had to put pin in in full view of bar regulars... Not the best

Hadn’t eaten here for a long time and was apprehensive because so many places serve a restrictive menu and provide poor value on Mother’s Day. We were very pleasantly surprised. We were welcomed warmly, the service was outstanding in every respect and the food was very good. In addition to a choice of good quality roasts there were a variety of other choices, including a superb vegetarian lasagne. Deserts were good too and the price was very reasonable. Although very busy, service had been staggered to allow each table to be served promptly, as a result the noise level never got too high. The only drawback was that the car park was full when we arrived at 12 o’clock. I don’t know where everyone who arrived after us parked!

The food in the restaurant is ok and waiting staff are pleasant enough but the bar is very local and outsiders are not made to feel welcome

Great menu selection, attentive service and reasonably priced food. Nice ambience, plenty of parking.
