Lovely place, friendly and welcoming. We had one night here. One thing we noticed, a slim guy behind the bar was doing the work of three - never still, but always smiling and helpful. If he wasn't serving, he was cleaning, or clearing table etc. The rooms (we were in 7) are beautifully turned out. Compact, but everything you need. We DID find it a tad warm though. Breakfast was superb!! They didn't have any black pudding (☹️) but added an extra sausage, so fair do's. One tiny thing, the orange wasn't real juice, which was a surprise for somewhere like this. Overall, really lovely, and yes, we'd go back.

Excellent from start and finish . After enjoying a day in Norwich my wife arranged for us to stay in a hotel instead of driving home . Upon arrival the staff were very welcoming and friendly . Our room was awesome and felt more like a 4 star than a 3 star . The food was cooked to a high specification , we had the lasagne which was the best I’d ever had . The beds were very comfy and the restaurant and bar area was modern and had a very relaxing and peaceful vibe which added to the stay . I would highly recommend this place and will 💯 percent be revisiting. Great work and leadership .

Food at a function was disappointing, infact awful ! A few people were pretty ill . It cost £19.99 a head, when we complained they didn’t seem that bothered, incredibly told us to go to the doctor and didn’t even apologise! Avoid

Been many times for Sunday roast which is very good. Disappointed today as the red cabbage has been replaced with kale. Such a shame

£19.95 a head, buffet equates to two quarter sandwiches, half a sausage roll, a small 2cm square of cake, half a handful of crisps and half a scone. I wont mention the quality... Paid for 18 people

The quality and amount of food at £19.95 per head at a family wake of all places was disgraceful. It looked like Iceland value. - I thought best to avoid everything and stay safe with their egg mayo. Bad move, it was mostly mayo, made me ill. I will not visit again.

I've eaten at many buffets in my time, the quality at this place has been the worst by far.

Had our staff christmas meal here and did not disappoint. I had the potted ham hock for starter. Rib if beef and mustard mash for main And Baileys yule log for pudding. I would certainly like to visit again for the starter and the pudding for sure. I like to mix up my main meals and try different things.

We have never received such a warm friendly welcome from all the staff.our room was spotless and so cozy and relaxing.the food in the evening and breakfast was amazing.we cant rate this highly enough!

A lovely venue, definitely worth a stay. Generous food portions, great choices on the menu & very tasty. Good selection of drinks. Staff very accommodating & naturally friendly. Accommodation was roomy, clean & relaxing. Will definitely return & recommend.

My partner took us all out for Boxing Day lunch. We’ve eaten here previously and our experiences have been very mixed, ranging from a very good Sunday roast to a truly dreadful pizza one evening. Our starters were garlic mushrooms and chicken liver pate. The mushrooms were poor, tasteless and on biting in a lot of oil escaped leaving a disappointing taste. I’m pretty certain the mushrooms were catering supplies and not fresh. The chicken liver pate was in a slice and definitely not home made. The mains were roasts. The turkey smelled and tasted rather strong, not ‘off’ but not nice. The stuffing incurred an extra charge, this being the only bit I could eat. The children had beef and gammon. The beef was very tough but the gammon was fine. My partner’s nut roast was in her words ‘average at best.’ The veg was plentiful but ranged from under to overcooked, some was hot but others were not. Extra gravy was provided so that’s a positive but overall, a really mixed bag, with lots left over. Overall, very disappointing. And to cap it all, my partner had paid a deposit upon booking in October only to find that when the bill was presented, it did not show the deposit as a reduction. She was then required to trawl back through her bank records to prove that it was paid. Not good and it’s a good job that she didn’t pay the deposit in cash. We won’t be returning.

Recently visited whilst holidaying over the Christmas period. 6 in our party plus our pooch. Fantastic pub and great staff too who made us all feel very welcome. Dog friendly in the bar. Had a great afternoon in this warm and cosy pub. It certainly has a wonderful feel about it. Will definitely be visiting again the next time we are in the area! Would highly recommend.

Fabulous as always! We visit The Black Swan frequently on visits to Norfolk and this meal was lovely. Scallops and Fish beautifully cooked, whole party happy - and lovely space in the bar for drinks beforehand

We booked a room for one night as a stop over whilst shopping in Norwich. The room was super clean and comfortable. We ate dinner and breakfast here... the service was very good and the food excellent.

Not very impressed, poor service, party of eight on a Friday and they were struggling! Meals came out at different times, so we were waiting for each other to start. Those who had soup said it was cold. Staff were struggling to manage, bickering amongst each other, stressed out! Desserts were a complete mess, those with ice cream had cream, cold custard. This place really isn't very good, especially at the prices they are charging. Not worth the visit

Great service today at the black swan. Food very tasty nice n hot . Friendly cheerful staff , well done. We both had the gammon and egg chips and peas . Great home cooked chunky chips.

We came here for my sisters baby shower. We had our own private room which was a nice size and presented well. The food was lovely & well priced. The staff were also very accommodating, we had afew issues that they were happy to help with, afew guests were late so they delayed with their food order at our request. It's a nice cosy place..will be back.

Rarely have I found such a jem of an Inn. My family and I stayed here at the end of October, and we could not have asked for more. The country pub and restaurant were both warm and inviting with lovely character. The food was delicious and the staff were accommodating. Our room was comfortable and spacious. I don't know if it had been recently refurbished but it looked as though it might be as it was spotless. As good as the room and food was they almost pale in comparison to the staff, and one in particular, Natalie, who could not have done more for us.

We just stopped off on our way to a funeral as it was close to the Crematorium where we were going. It was lovely and friendly. Very clean

Excellent roast, so much choice of vegetables and well presented. We didn’t book. we ended up on a lovely table and comfortable seating . This is a very attractive restaurant/bar . We have been several times before and never disappointed.

Came here for Sunday lunch with a party of 7. Food was piping hot and such a great selection of vegetables. The menu was good for those that didn't want a roast dinner. Atmosphere was lovely. Went there for lunch in the Bar. Lovely place. Enjoyed the Fish and Chips.

We were total of 15 friends and family who had booked almost all the rooms available there. The staff was super helpful. Special mention to Tony and Gemma for assisting us all and making the stay memorable. A big shoutout to their wholesome and scrumptious breakfast. This has been the 1st time for many of us out of the many stays, where croissants and danish pastries were served hot, fresh, straight out of the oven. Other items of the breakfast i.e. English breakfast, toast, tea and coffee were all served piping hot. Kudos to the chef and the kitchen staff. Must visit for their hospitality and enjoy the wonderful location in a village if you are around Norwich.

The black Swan is a great village pub.the food is excellent, good selection of beers larger wines and spirits. Large undercover seating area outside, plus tables out the front. Friendly staff, who always take time to say hello and a warm welcome.

Visited for a birthday celebration for a meal. Unfortunately, I had quality issues with 1 starter and 1 main course. Our food wasn't checked on by the staff until they came to clear the plates. With hindsight, we could have gone to the bar to report the issues, so I'd encourage any other guests to do the same. I constructively suggested to the waiting staff that they do the same with future customers. In the defence of the Black Swan, they removed all the items from our bill and apologised. I would return again to give them another chance and would be happy to provide a better review next time if warranted. A local business is trying its best. On this occasion, they didn't get it quite right. Hopefully, next time, it will be better.

We are new to the area and decided to treat my in laws to Sunday lunch at our new "local". We had booked ahead and were greeted warmly on arrival and shown to a lovely table overlooking the village green. The service was prompt, friendly and professional. We all opted for the Sunday roast which arrived freshly cooked and beautifully presented. The nut roast was delicious and my in laws enjoyed their beef and turkey. Highly recommended also are the puddings - divine. A gorgeous little gem on our doorstep.

Was recommended this wonderful pub by someone on Twitter, of all places. Had a couple of pints and some food , both of which were great. Friendly welcome and efficient service. Would happily recommend to others.

Booked a couple of nights at the black swan our room was lovely breakfast which was excellent .we also had an evening meal which was delicious staff were all friendly and helpful Also they catered for a family wake in one of the function rooms with refreshments which again was excellent. Would high recommend and we will be coming back thank you

We stayed at the black swan in a while ago we had a one night stay. We had evening meal and breakfast which was all awesome.why so many negative reviews.we will be coming back and can’t wait . So come on please stay you will not be disappointed we had a baby with how stay too .

Excellent service and food. Perfect for a weekend break

We stayed at the hotel from June 15th until June 19th and I had some dietary issues to deal with. We didn't need to have any concerns at all, as the whole crew is so well tuned and everyone had done their homework before we even arrived to make us feel welcome and adjusted everything so that I was able to enjoy food again with no worries. That was a very special break and everyone takes pride in looking after the guests to an exceptional level. The rooms are amazing; modern, large, clean, airy and the bed incredibly comfortable. As it's only 30 mins to Norwich/Cromer/ the broads it was subtly central in a very beautiful, quiet village. Also being only 800m from St. Faiths crematorium meant it was a very short walk every morning to visit my mum's grave. We shall definitely be coming back. Thank you for making our stay so memorable ❤️

We stayed for two nights at this delightful pub. Very clean, extremely comfortable bed, excellent food and the staff could not have been more helpful. A very pleasant break. Would highly recommend.

We took a chance and followed the signs off the bypass and were so pleased that we did. This pub was lovely - food was excellent (I had Katsu Curry and my husband had Fish & Chips), with a varied and extensive menu. The ambience was traditional English pup with a cosmopolitan vibe. Service was excellent and to top it all they welcomed our two Dachshunds with open arms. Can’t recommend it highly enough - particularly if you want a dog-friendly environment and a good meal.

I was shocked today after attending my great niece's christening party at the Black Swan. We arrived from the church across the road at 11.00 am only to not be allowed in til 11.30 (luckily it wasn't raining) we would have been happy to pay for coffees and provide extra vevenue. Then we were only given the exact number of plates for those booked for the buffet and were told we would need to pay extra for addt plates. The same for serviettes none were provided unless we paid extra. Then scones were brought out but no jam or butter so dry then told there wasn't any butter or jam anyway. (Who wants to eat dry scones) the attitude was very poor when challenged our music was asked to go on many times but it took ages then hardly any volume. Then for the big cake moment we tried to eat without any serviettes after paying 100 s of pounds this was such a dissapoiment on such a special day. I would not book another event there unless these petty things are put right.

Lovely pub, beer is great. Attended a wedding last year and the food was lovely, however, this time we were disappointed. Service times were good, but staff seemed disinterested in our comments. One of party had fish and chips, the batter was very overcooked and chips were too, when she told waitress it seemed to go over her head. Two of our party were still midway through their meals, two of us had finished and the waitress took our plates and asked if we wanted desserts. We said we’d wait until all the party had finished. Basic stuff really.

Absolutely a alittle Gem… we stayed here for a wedding locally and can’t recommend it enough. Greeted with smiles, room immaculate, high power shower and a great breakfast choice, hope to return one day Thank you

Pleasant staff for a freinds wake

Just off the NDR and not far from the city’s airport, so easy access and a good location. Lovely village and proud to call it home. The black swan has a reasonable selection of drinks, something to keep everyone happy but if you fancy a specific drink such as a premium vodka or a particular cider/beer the options are a little limited. Something for everyone though! Food is good, price wise allow £30 per head for a meal and couple of drinks. I rate the garlic bread.

We have been several times for a roast dinner and it was always hit & miss some Sundays it would be the best I have ever had & others it was standard, however just recently it is very poor & I won't be returning on a Sunday for a roast, also bad atmosphere with staff, seemed like they had all had a argument & were talking about each other behind backs, such a shame this place deserves better staff & customers should not feel uncomfortable due to staff fall outs, hopefully a change of staff will help the place

Delightful staff and delicious food.

I was served by a young guy (orange hair) he was very polite and super friendly but you could tell and sense an atomosphere, he seemed to have had an argument with someone as he was going on about some other gentlemen who worked there and telling other customers about something that had gone on, when you come out for food you dont want to here bitchy young people going on about their drama, it all sounded rather pathetic and quite unprofessional. That said the food was great, it was served piping hot, presented lovely and you could tell all the food was fresh and very well prepared. The atmosphere in the dining area was a much needed change from the bar area, it was confortable and decorated lovely. I would visit again but I will go straight through to eat if I can next time.

Excellent location for meeting friends from the internet. No problems finding the place of parking. Honestly, no excuse not to come and have a lovely time. Great WiFi too to help me post pictures and film of my visit.

We had lunch here today which was very good. The place is spotless and the staff were welcoming and very professional. I'd definitely recommend eating here.

My wife and I stayed at the Black Swan last weekend as it's location was central to our trip requirements. I have to to say, what a lovely establishment it is. We could not fault the cleanliness of the room that we stayed in (No 5), which was well appointed, functional, had all of the room facilities that we required and was visited by housekeeping each day for a freshen up. All of the staff that we interacted with were polite, competent and very friendly. We had a meal in the restaurant on Saturday night with some family members. All of our party enjoyed the food and atmosphere, and could not find fault. Breakfast was included in the room price and both my wife and chose the full English breakfast, which came piping hot, well presented and beautifully cooked. The bar is pleasant with a wood burning stove, a good selection of beers and adequate seating. It has it's fair share of locals that frequent the bar, who are all friendly and engaging if you take the trouble interact. All in all, we would highly recommend the Black Swan and will be staying again when visiting family in the area.

We stayed overnight at this lovely hotel. The staff were friendly and welcoming - the breakfast was delicious. The hotel room was spacious and very well appointed. Can thoroughly recommend.

Stayed here for 1 night (last night) for work. Had the best sleep, the bed was so comfy and the room was quiet and pitch black. Tea coffee hot chocolate biscuits shower gel in the room, lovely shower. Had an evening meal and I’m just now having breakfast, food is great and service too. Really lovely team of staff. I wish I was working over here for another night tonight!

We had a wake to attend at the Black Swann recently. The carpark is a nightmare, there are no lines to designate parking spaces, so of course people park stupidly taking up much more room than needed. It is also gravel, so it is not accessible. We ended up parking on the road, with my husband struggling with my wheelchair across the gravel carpark to enter. The door is nice and wide, but there is a side table placed in the tiny entrance way which makes entering with a wheelchair really difficult, especially since the doors are so heavy. The disabled toilet is also really hard to get in and out of because of the side table blocking the hallway. The toilet was also dirty. Everyone seemed to enjoy the food but it was covered in cling film, and the staff didn't seem inclined to uncover it themselves. We brought our own food as the function menu doesn't cater for vegans. I'm sure we could have requested something but last time we did that, we were supplied with something different to what we had asked for. Unfortunately I went hungry that time. There wasn't anything vegan on the regular menu, or the specials menu that I could see. I was surprised by this because the website boasts vegan options. The decor is nice and homely, whilst being tasteful, and the staff all seemed welcoming and polite. Although the Black Swan is a lovely looking pub, I can't help but note they are really missing out on some essentials to providing a great wake.

Went to another funeral wake here,and as usual the buffet was excellent. Friendly staff and clean room .Only drawback was not able to park in car park so had to park on road.Will have to get there earlier next time.

I had the pleasure of staying here for two nights ahead of a family funeral. I couldn't fault anything - the room was lovely and had been recently refurbished. All of the staff were friendly and accomodating for me and my relatives who were also staying. The food was good quality and the portions wre generous. I highly recoomend the Black Swan.

If you travel to Norfolk for work or pleasure, this hotel is absolutely lovely!! Very comfy bed and room, great shower, tasty food and the staff are amazing 🤩 This is my 5th stay and I will be back 💞

Visited for a wake, so perhaps not the best circumstances. However, good food and service, pleasant and helpful staff. Only downside is limited parking. Will definitely be going again to check out the full menu.

This pub grub, bed and breakfast location is great. Due to my travels for business, the only place I could get a room was here and I'm very glad I found this place as I'll be recommending it to other colleagues instead of our usual premier inn booking. Service was quick and very friendly. I was welcomed and dealt with professionally. The food is very well presented and tasted up to my standards. I had the steak burger with garlic bread on the side. The burger was very juicy and cooked to perfection. Couldn't fault it to be honest. If I HAD to be picky...I would say the fries should be homemade and that would be 10/10! I was looking around and noticed the special for the day was a pie of some sort and the portion size was extremely generous, massive in a good way 🤣!! I love it. Oh...I can't forget to mention the lovely wood burning stove which kept us all warm!! I also had a room here and that too was just very clean, spacious and homey feeling. I can't really say much more other than I am happy with my experience. I would recommend this place for your pit stop next time 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Really pleasant to visit busy pub at lunch time. Table was reserved as promised. Bar staff very friendly and approachable. Food order taken promptly and the arrived quickly. Portion sizes are really good and food was as good as anticipated. Has a nice Christmas atmosphere would definitely visit again very soon. Compliments to Richard the chef !!

A complete disaster, booked the table in advance and had email conformation of our booking, when we arrived they told us they cancelled our booking that morning via email. The certainly had not sent us an email and I went to the bar to prove this and show the conformation email I had received. Delightful lady said I don’t know what you want me to do about it I found you a table in the bar!!! Yes we had a table but we booked for restaurant!! Food looked nice but was only Luke warm , one little dish of veg for 5 people however they did bring us another one when we asked. We had our food before cutlery ( we had to ask for it!! ) Pudding were nice!! The bill , well 3rd time lucky they charged us the right amount!! Could have been a lovely meal had it not have been for these issues ! Tried to speak to the lady behind the bar but she didn’t want to know also sent an email but no reply !!

My husband and I visited the Black Swan with close friend for Sunday roast late afternoon yesterday. We all had various starters all of which were excellent, followed by the roast beef. The meat was tender and cooked to perfection. The selection of vegetables was good and again all perfectly cooked. Servings were very generous and my husband had to help me finish my large portion of beef! Some of our party were able to manage desserts which again were superb! Best Sunday roast we have ever had in a restaurant. Highly recommended.

I think that pretty much every cremation wake is held here. Its a convenient venue but more than that , good food! The fare we had was a buffet of sandwiches, sausage rolls etc but all well filled and tasty

I was very impressed, I rang to let them know my visit for work would be brief and I would be arriving late and leaving early. They took my breakfast order there and then over the phone and said it would be served at 7am. It was there at exactly 7am and was a better standard than usual. It allowed me to be on my way swiftly and without an empty stomach! Many thanks

I ordered the special of the pork chop with apple cider and cream sauce. Not once was I advised that this was changed when it arrived it came with mint sauce. When I escalated to wait staff I was offered apple sauce from a jar and a fresh plate, which I was very thankful for as I find mint sauce not only overpowering but extremely disgusting to my palette. It appeared that the wait staff were also not made aware of this change. Had I know it would come with mint sauce I would NOT have ordered this meal! Made what was shaping up to a lovely meal sour!

came in for dinner and i had hunters chicken, chicken was chewy and bacon was under, bbq sauce was also very sharp and salty i don’t know if this is bought or made in house? my partner had a mixed grill, the steak was under to his liking - he asked for it medium and it was blue-rare, i informed a member of staff (a young girl) and she apologised and didn’t do much about it.

We stop in many hotels throughout the country, but found to black swan absolutely fantastic. In fact I normally find a fault with something. On this occasion I was not able to find a problem. We will most definitely be visiting again. Staff, food, service where all fantastic and a wonderful homely feel. Spot on, well done folks.
