Curious place where the bar isn't apparent when you walk in until you realise it's sort of downstairs in a small low-ceilinged room. A very friendly welcome and an excellent pint of Bateman's XB, with several other appealing options on handpull. We would have lingered for more but lunch awaited down the road.

Really nice pub, food was lovely, we only had something small but it all smelt good. Nice different areas for dining and drinking and a little cosy area too. Bonus that it has a car park so you don't need to worry about parking and we were able to leave the car there until the next morning too.

I was reading a book about the history of Europe where they spoke about the plague. They mentioned a place called Coltishall of which I never heard. So I looked it up on Google Maps. I've only been to England once in my life, in 2004 to London. Coltishall, like a cosy place in the middle of nowhere, looks nice. And so does this restaurant.

Visited this pub on Sunday 8th August 2021, which coincidentally was my birthday. Our group of six were un aware that there was an ABBA tribute on that afternoon. It was a fantastic day, the whole pub enjoyed the experience of great singers, music and great fun and dancing. Everyone joined in and although my memory deteriorated rapidly that afternoon, I recall the landlady being very nice and accommodating. As far as I remember the local contingent also enjoyed the day. Keep the entertainment going and all the best for the future. We will be back🤭😅🥴

We are very lucky in Coltishall to have three very good Pubs. Each one has its own 'character' and the Red Lion is no exception. It has a very cosy Pub atmosphere in the bar and the staff are friendly and helpful. For the 'Real Ale' drinkers, there is always a good selection as well as the Euro Froth for those who want to drink Bitter, but don't like the taste. The food is good as well, including very Authentic Thai. The Landlord has done an amazing job of diversification to attract a wide range of customers so there is a lot going on including Quiz Nights, live music and beer festivals in the Summer.

As a ride leader for a local cycling club, I chose the Red Lion Cafe for our halfway stop yesterday. We have visited before and been well served. Yesterday however was a wholly different kettle of fish. The young man serving was disorganised and as a result pretty slow. Most of the group chose to have coffee and carrot cake. I was fortunate in that I had millionaires shortcake, a handsome sized portion. The carrot cake servings on the other hand were pathetically small. Easily the smallest pieces of cake we have ever been served, possibly 1/3 -1/2 of the size I would have expected. On top of that, we had all finished our cake well before we received the drinks. All the coffees were served black and no milk was offered, we had to ask. Milk was forthcoming in the form of a tiny milk bottle, rather quaint but nowhere near enough for five people. We had to ask for another and then another before we had enough for the five coffees served. I know we should have complained at the time but of course nobody wants to make a scene, we're British after all. However, the more I have thought about this the more irked I have become hence this rather poor review. It is very unlikely we will be returning, certainly whilst I am leading a ride, especially when there are so many good alternatives.

All staff, (especially the Landlord) were very welcoming and attentive during our visit. Menu was a sensible size and wide ranging. I was very happy with the vegetarian option, and my wife was equally happy with the Sunday roast. In addition to the expected Sunday traditional dishes were three of the Thai dishes that are offered other days.We tried the desserts too, which were generous and were absolutely wonderful. The price for each of us was only £13.50 for two courses, very, very good value. The landlord gave our tip directly to the chef as we were particularly taken with the high quality of the desserts which she created.
