Absolutely faultless lunch! Lovely pub by the train station and broads. Came here for lunch as we are interested in the local area. Great atmosphere as you walk in, locals with dogs at the bar with sky sports and a pool table, then restaurant behind. My pie was lovely with lots of steak pieces, my other half had the burger and it was honestly one of the best burgers he has ever had. Both very tasty and good quality ingredients. Prices were reasonable and all the staff were really welcoming and friendly. Minor details are that I could have had more gravy and my partner wished he had more of a side such as coleslaw or a small salad with the burger, but it didn't put us off. I highly recommend this place and hopefully we will be back!

Terrible service, food non-existent. Atmosphere...... well, judge for yourselves. Takes ages to get a drink, they dont sell or serve food........ so what's the atmosphere like ?????? The head barman is so rude & abrupt.......... over the past few times I've visited I've come to the conclusion he doesn't like people.

We were visiting Brundall by boat and used the short stay Pontoon moorings just outside the pub. The boardwalk leads straight into the beer garden. Our visit was Saturday evening of the 21st September. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. We both had food, I had a cheeseburger with fries and my wife had Lasagna. We were both very pleased with the food. My burger was delicious, very tasty and cooked perfectly. We would highly reccommend The White Heron. We paid by pay cash and left a tip wish cash. Lovely place to visit overlooking a marina with luxury boats. We will certainly be visisting again.

Although the meals were good there is far far too much food, I bet no one can finish the plateful you get. When they say Chips, they’re actually big potato wedges and far too many to eat. The burgers are big and never seen onion rings so large. I would suggest smaller portions and bring the price down to match. I would hate to see the food waste bin. Apart from that the staff are very good and friendly. Oh yes just one more niggle. Kids running round when people are carrying drinks and staff carrying hot food, not only running round but screeching and it really echoes in there.

We had left it a bit late to find somewhere to eat and the White Heron had availability. My husband had heard some negative feedback about the food but we decided to give it a chance. Initially there appeared to be no one serving at all but when we called out a girl appeared. We placed our orders with the friendly barmaid and didn't have to wait too long for our meals to arrive. My chickpea and spinach curry was a handful of chickpeas in a slightly spicy sauce with no apparent spinach or other resemblance to curry. The naan bread which accompanied it was so hard it was inedible in part. My husband's burger was very greasy and he felt quite queasy after eating it. The girl who served us was very polite and friendly but this in itself would not be enough for us to eat there again!

Our group of four recently visited The White Heron for lunch, and we were thoroughly impressed with our experience! We all opted for the roast beef lunch, and it exceeded our expectations in every way. Not only did we receive generous portions for the price, but the quality of the food was outstanding. The beef was cooked to perfection, tender and flavorful, making every bite a delight. Beyond the delicious food, the service we received was exceptional. The staff was friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. Additionally, we found the decor to be charming and homely, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that added to the overall enjoyment of our visit. Overall, our experience at The White Heron was fantastic, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious meal served with top-notch service in a cozy setting. Disappointed!!! Made a booking Saturday for a table of five for a roast dinner on Sunday (as you need to book in advance) turned up yesterday no roast dinners!!! Absolute joke we order 2 scampi and chips, 2 sausages and mash “onion gravy” and a burger. The sausage and mash was absolutely awful cold and it doesn’t go by its title sausage and mash with onion gravy there was no onion in the gravy?? Had to send it back so they could warm it up still wasn’t good. Scampi and chips where awful was like it had been cooked then reheated up was awful then the burger wasn’t great nice portion size but not the best. The amount of people who turned up looking forward to their roast then being told they had non was a joke people who previously booked should get first serve and the roast should be kept for the people who have booked not been given to people who turn up not fair to peoples who booked in advance looking forward to a roast and not getting it. The prices are ridiculous for what you get served not worth the Money best of going some where else or cooking at home.

Went for a roast dinner, after an hour of waiting we asked where our food was, to be told that our order never went through so they said to wait another 5 minutes. Food came out cold, the meat was cut so thick. Food sent back and money refunded. Table next to use also got a refund. Their till system is awful, no cash pub even though they have a fruit machine and pool table that require cash. Always having to wait ages for a drink as they seem to serve the restaurant side more than the bar side. No smoking shelter so have to stand out in the cold and rain. Yet they do let you vape inside the pub. Gender neutral toilets in the bar area which are awkward and disgusting. The atmosphere is great, just a shame the pub isn’t run very well.

I went for lunch at the White Heron recently, with a couple of family members. We placed our orders with a member of staff and, after about 15 -20 minutes, were told that 2 of our choices for main course were no longer available. We chose something else and it took perhaps another 40 minutes to be served. The food was OK, but the wait was quite a lot longer than expected. It would have been helpful if the serving staff knew that some dishes were not available at the time of ordering.

Sadly this will be a poor review. I feel the waiting staff deserve much more as they were polite and kind at all times. First we were warned there was a 5-10 minutes delay, this was on top of normal time, hence we waited about 40 minutes. The sausages were pink and undercooked, mash and carrots cold and the broccoli very hard. Then waited another half hour for Christmas Crumble and cream. It came with custard so was sent back and we waited another 10 minutes for replacement. It was tastless, undercooked and stodgy. The cost if one meal was deducted from our bill but I'm afraid that didn't change our decision not to return. Such a pity as this used to be a lovely place to eat.

Came here on a cold rainy day with a close friend. I hadn’t been to the heron in a few months and was surprised to see the new additions to its interior decor. It’s done a complete 360 for its character and charm. I feel like the pub is finally coming into its own now it’s settled in since the refurbishment last year. A beautiful contrast of modern chic with antique ‘yare’ memorabilia. What a cosy place to have lunch ! Something that never changed about this place is the staff and how welcoming & warm they are. I had the ‘Swiss Toni’ burger which has to be in the top 5 burgers I’ve ever had and I’ve had a fair few in my lifetime I can tell you 😂 bacon, cheese, American mustard. Beef burger that melts in the mouth at first bite.. delicious. Broom & white heron staff have clearly put their heads together the last few months to make this place blossom into what is becoming a brilliant riverside pub! Glad to call this my local and will now be coming back a lot more frequently ! From my perspective the white heron should take a video panning around the whole pub, proving to people that may not have been in a while how it’s transformed and bringing more people in through that door ! Well done Broom/ White heron 🙏

The service is beyond description!!!, We have complained many times to the so called manager, who has the title but is totally out of his depth and has no Idea of service, the palace opens and shuts when it want to, last Sat night refused to be served at 10.50pm ?? told by a female bar person that we had missed last orders , then asked to see the manager, and not for the first time, and guess what, no manager on site. The staff turnover must be incredible, because there is no support or guidance for such an inexperienced team, they simply just stumble through their shifts, Someone needs to get hold of this business and run it properly, what a shame the Brooms name is attached to this. hope the review reaches someone that cares.

I’m not sure where to start… We’ve given this place so many chances. We want to support local businesses like this and thought over time, the problems would be ironed out and things would improve. I think we were wrong. Bar service always seems to be slow, food service generally even slower. We’ve had incorrect food turn up - when it’s finally turned up! We’ve had burgers at full price turn up wrapped in tin foil without any accompaniments. We’ve had apologies so many times. We’ve had refunds - on one occasion we were actually refunded for someone else’s order; such is the level of incompetence. Still, we decide to give things another go but to end up with a fairly large piece of plastic wrapping in my roast dinner is just about the end for me. Run out of energy for complaining - no-one came to clear our plates that had been sitting in front of us for a good 30 minutes anyway. Don’t think we’ll bother any more.

The menu "looks" great, there is a nice selection of drinks available and is a very clean public house. That's as good as the positives are going to get unfortunately. I ordered a rack of hickory bourbon ribs with chips and corn on the cob. The plate was a very nice size for a meal but, for what was paid (14.95), there was barely enough for a small child and could of done better if I had gone to the coop a bought myself a large rack and some oven chips. If it was a child's portion the youngling would of had serious trouble enjoying the rack as it was not cooked as described. The meat was very tough to cut even if a chain saw was available. The chips arrived within a small dip pot and the cob was the only half decent thing on the plate. I do find the atmosphere to be somewhat hard to enjoy, very clicky. The noise bounces off all the walls causing ears to ache. Whilst one does enjoy looking at the water, one is stuck at the end of a dyke looking at day boats and a huge workshop and gantry crane. This is a card/contactless pub only, so no cash. Even the jukebox is cashless/contactless. I find the method of transactions highly offensive for those that enjoy paying by cash. Cash is king.

We sent one back..three small slices of goats cheese and a few bits of roasted tomato...the staff were very lovely and very understanding and they did replace the meal with a very good portion. We used to visit at least every two weeks but are now unlikely to return to eat with these new prices and disappointing menu.

Family of 9 people under the booking of Laura, dinner was delayed due to new menu and chef, however the Manager Jamie and staff were very helpful and fixed issues immediately. Food was good and we will go back again to this restaurant, would recommend.

Nice looking Pub and polite staff. Totally spoilt by the fact you're Cashless!!!!!! Absolutely disgusting! There should be a choice. I suppose if your looking for a customer base that lives on credit or has unlimited Cash in the Bank it'll suit those people but...

Awful atmosphere as the ambience and acoustics are very bad. Everyone sounds very loud and when the kids are shouting! Decor is bland and cheap , did not stay to try the food. You could make this such a good pub . The real ales are excellent !

On arrival the nicely decorated interior was pleasant and bar looking great. Acoustically the dining area was quite noisy although not many people in there. There was quite a few fly's noticeable in that area which set me off a bit not keen on fly's especially in food areas . We were seated quickly but were not informed to order at the bar until about 30mins although we were busy talking. After deciding what to have off the good menu we went to order at the bar , although a few staff it seemed only one was taking bar and food orders so a further 20 minute wait . I was starting to get a bit hangry but kept the smiley face on ,as you don't mess with people who serve you food 😅. After another 25 minutes food arrived , now I like fries and fries ain't chips so I was disappointed also the coleslaw was not looking good. But my fellow diners had beautiful salads and chips as they certainly weren't fries . It's a card only payment but as we didn't want to pay as one we sorted it out amongst are self's . The card machine was a bit temperamental also signal down there for internet is poor but they provide free unsecured WiFi which was a bit choppy . Would I go again probably not but that's just me and your not me so your choice.

Thankfully we were friends and made our own atmosphere, but the food ,we asked for a prawn salad ,with a bread roll ,they couldn't do that, everything took so long to be dealt with , and you can only pay by card, when we got our prawn cocktail, because that came with brown bread included, the sauce was watery, they had not dried off the prawns, so it was tasteless, , its expensive for what it is and , the group of ladies I was with have all decided, it is not a place to go so we won't be going there again, it's OK to be a trendy place , but it is better to be a good place

My wife and I had lunch here on a Saturday afternoon, the moment we walked in we were greeted with a big smile and a warm welcome. I had the Ribs and Chicken wings while my wife had a Ploughman’s Lunch. Both dishes were served quickly and good sized portions, my food was piping hot. The food is good value for money and great quality. Beer prices are quite steep at around £5 per pint but I suppose it’s the same everywhere these days. I will definitely return here again and would recommend to anyone.

We have used Honningham Buck regularly over the past 30 years and seen many people come and go. Very few were bad. However our last 3 visits have left us disappointed and after tonight’s visit it is unlikely we will return for the foreseeable! The choice on menu is very poor. Everything on offer is over exaggerated basic food! The starter, scotch egg with piccalilli was the best offering, but no where near as good as it used to be? Our main meal sounded great on the menu, but in actual fact consisted of piece of chicken in breadcrumbs on a flatbread with some shriveled mushroom, fermented cabbage, and a chopped up chilli. The quality was poor, and the flavour very unpleasant! Dessert, I chose a Bakewell and pistachio tart with mascarpone and I requested ice cream instead of sorbet. Thank goodness I did! The tart was tasteless and the mascarpone was laughable…it looked like the top of a baby gem!! Literally a teaspoon! What’s happened to the delicious food that used to be on offer here? There is no quality to the food served. It’s certainly not what it used to be!

I ordered the seared chicken breast with thyme sauce, ratatouille, and fondant potato. What I received was a couple of slices of damp reheated chicken, a brown dehydrated lump of potato that tasted like it had been sitting in the fridge for days and then reheated for too long, some watery ratatouille (it's really not that difficult to make it decent), no thyme sauce, just everything covered with instant gravy. What sort of chef serves ratatouille with instant gravy? I'm guessing it was to cover up that what lied beneath was not what was described on the menu. The instant gravy didn't even appear to any thyme added to it. I won't be rushing back.
