Great lunch. Carl was very warm and friendly.

It made such a lovely change to go somewhere and be greeted by a smile. Megan behind the bar who took our order was fantastic. Really enjoyed the carvery food.

Been a regular of establishment since moved to the area 2 and half years ago. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Maddie, Megan and Amie always greet with a smile. Had my granddaughters birthday party held in the fun fort. So recommend 👍👍

Wow , what an amazing experience. The staff was friendly, helpful and patient. The food was next level ; I had a carvery and the variety of vegetables was good. The desserts are delicious , definitely recommend the Biscoff cheesecake , it was very yummy. The overall place was kept well clean and tidy. It’s a very warm and welcoming place. 10/10 experience

Went here Saturday good was okay, bit cold staff was VERY RUDE and as if they didn't want us here my nephew is disabled and turned 10 he is quite loud the kept staring and people kept leaving the outside play area gate open and had GLASS in the play area when the sign said NO GLASS aloud in that area,staff was rude and honestly seemed like they didn't want us there, it was a group of 11 of us and we had quite a few drinks of orange lemonade and J2O'S so they costed quite a bit same with food and desserts haven't been here for 3 years,wish it was better, sorry for he bad review.

The food is awesome, and so are the staff. And on 2 occasions (Karens) have done what karens do. They scam for either free meal or demand money back, the table next to us both times 🤣. I feel for the staff who have to put up with stupid people like them. We love coming for our great food, plenty of disabled spaces. To the manager and staff 10 stars 👍, also from someone else reviewing this place I so love the slightly burnt parsnips, in fact I look for them ☺️ they are awesome. Today's lunch was as usual very tasty, staff awesome loise as usual and all of the staff very lovely and as always very helpful 10 stars ✨ ✨ ☺️

The pub is located next to a child's play centre. We attended on a Sunday and the pub was packed solid with queue for the carvery almost out the door

We had a great carvery so much so we didn't have room for dessert. Highly recommend

Visited on Friday just after 13:00. Very disappointed with the carvery. Waited 5 minutes for the cook to come out to serve us. All looked good, but sadly the food and gravy can only be described as tepid. If you are to be known as a carvery restaurant at least serve hot food

Great place for families with the large indoor play area, which is brilliant for children, very good carvery, I especially enjoy the chargrilled Mediterranean chicken salad, plenty of ingredients with a side order of chunky chips!! 😋 Delicious!!!!

Tonight was our first visit to the Racecourse. When we first arrived I was over-whelmed by how busy it appeared, but then we got served by Megan, and her efficiency, wit and kindness made our visit brilliant. There were 15 in our party and Megan nailed our order without any mistakes. The food was prepared and served quickly and was of a high standard. Thanks to both Megan and the kitchen staff we had a great evening and will return in the future.

Came to the castle carvery tonight for my little girl to play and was shocked at the way the manger treated and spoke to his staff & customers. We sat downstairs in the play area and there was an altercation between the manager and a customer which the customer became aggressive and was angry and swearing infront of other customers and children. Nothing was being done about it so another customer had to get involved to stop this disgusting behaviour. No apology from the manager at all just filthy looks. The two young girls in the play area, worked there socks off and was doing everything they possibly could, was working so hard and heard them being spoken to by there manager and other colleagues, telling them what to do and being so rude to them was hideous to hear. One of the girls was in tears. Them poor girls was all on there own in that play area, where it was completely overcrowded and was chaos. Hats of too them two girls they worked incredibly hard! I was shocked by the way that place was run by the manager, a bloke in a blue shirt. He was rude, arrogant and spoke to his staff like a bit of poo on his shoe. I won’t be returning anytime soon!

Carvery seems to be cold roast potatoes and parsnips r hard and the lamb I had was all fat so didn't eat much at all I complained about it to staff and never heard back from anyone wasn't happy as we paid over 50 pound that day.

Me and my family had a lovely time here, the food was beautiful, and although extremely busy the staff were super quick, and efficient. I believe they have a new manager Scott, he went above and beyond, what a great addition he makes to the place. We will be back

We visited the soft play centre, had a lovely time. The food and drinks were very good and very reasonably priced. The lady on the soft play reception was very friendly, helpful, and polite and made our experience more enjoyable, didn't get her name but thank you! Will be back soon :)

Visited today,had a very nice welcome by Megan,very bubbly and friendly member of staff,a credit to the restaurant. I would also like to say how helpful Carl was on our visit,but a massive thank you to Scott (manager ). Scott went out of his way to make our experience even better.

Been couple of times in the last year but yesterday was for a special occasion to celebrate a 90th birthday. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. We were allowed to decorate with balloons, banners etc although we kept it simple. Great service, fantastic food and good selection of vegetarian options. Only thing was where we were positioned, for a group of almost 20 we were between the bar and the main dining room which is the main thoroughfare of the venue. We could've done with a slightly quieter spot to accommodate the elderly people in our group in wheelchairs etc from the vast amount of people coming through with trays of drinks and children running around. It didn't dampen the day or the atmosphere we made it what it was.

Had Xmas dinner here on Xmas day; the place was completely full and although the staff were very busy they were helpful, efficient and cheerful. The food was good and plentiful, and all told not bad value for money.

Sunday 29th 3 of us just came back after arriving at 2.30 to find a few things missing from the selection like stuffing & small sausages. But unfortunately no Adnams Ghost Ship again they never run out of Beef so why quit often a lovely beer that I enjoyed with my meal.

Christmas day everything was brilliant staff lovely and worked hard

We had lunch with our grandchildren aged 9 and 7 and all of us chose the carvery. 2 of the cutlery settings were so dirty we had to change them, 1 fork actually stuck to the paper napkin. The edge of my partner's fork was so jagged and such poor quality, it actually cut his mouth. We were thankful one of the children didn't get it so my partner took it to the bar to tell them what had happened and make sure it was thrown away so no one else's mouth would be cut, especially not a child! Management were totally unconcerned and he received no apology whatsoever! Someone later came to ask if the plates could be cleared and if everything was ok? We told them what had happened. Again, there was a total lack of concern The food was mediocre. Most things tasted like they were basted or cooked in sugar and had little taste other than that. Service was awful and almost non-existant apart from one young lady behind the bar. Cannot recommend this place on any level.

We had a festive dinner for 13 just had a series of problems with the booking which finally got sorted by Vicky one of the managers , she was the only one who new what she was doing & was so nice , an asset to your staff & company

Really delicious carvery. The chef was on loan from The Wherry Hotel and the food was excellent. All kept warm with covers to stop the veg drying. All the food was lovely, the mashed potato and butchers sausages stood out as excellent. All for £11.95 which is a bargain price in November 2024.

Not cheap but good carvery lots of veg and more generous than some with meat avoid busy periods

The taste of the carvery was good , it was let down by the fact it was not hot. The Turkey and the pork were dry, the stuffing was hard. We had not been for two years and unfortunately our visit reminded us why that was.

Well the food is alright, nothing special but perfectly acceptable, little kids running around like it's a play area, not really acceptable, but then you can't really blame the kids, can you 🤷🏻‍♂️

Lovely carvery with good choices of meat and vegetables. Don't want carvery then check out the menu, there's something for everyone from burgers, steak to fish and chips. Only thing I would say is definitely need more staff and maybe keep eye on tables to see if customers need anything else.

Not by any means awful, not appropriate for a wheel chair in my opinion The system in place to queue for the carvery. Is like the krypton factor assault course for a wheel chair user. It was very busy and just made access impossible. Felt like a complete inconvenience. The food was hot but some items had obviously been left there a long time.

On Monday 30.9.24 my friend and I both ordered Chicken Tikka Masla, and both meals - rice and curry( & bowl) arrived barely warm. I am sure a thermo probe had been no where near them! We asked for it to be reheated and as the waitress took the meals away she said it would take 5-10 minutes. After more like 30 minutes, Vicky the manager noticed that we still hadn't got our meals. She immediately took charge of the situation and offered us complimentary drinks - we just asked for glasses of water. She checked on us a couple of times whilst we still waited and again after our hot meals arrived, and offered us complimentary sweets for the poor service we had received. Vicky's attitude and service was super and just what you would hope for in such a situation. When the dinners and puddings arrived they were lovely and we even got mango chutney with our hot curries! I would give general service 1-2 stars and Vicky's 5 star.

Amazing food, services was amazing also!

My partner and I came to your restaurant last night after having to collect some items in Norwich. The weather was absolutely dreadful but as soon as we walked through that door what a fabulous welcome we received .We were soon asked what we would like to drink and also our order was taken .The food arrived perfect my usual Scampi chips and peas for me Sauceage and mash with huge onion rings for my partner. Both really lovely .Then we had a dessert which was also lovely. We were served by a few different members of staff and all were great .A lady called Vicky was the manager of the day and she also had a nice chat with us .So what have we got to complain about NOTHING. I am sure the lovely staff had no influence on the weather .We will be back xx

Had a Sunday carvery yesterday and was amazed with how great it was. The staff were incredibly helpful and very kind. It’s nice to find somewhere that knows how to clean cutlery too! 10/10 place! Will be back again soon!

Fantastic carvery with a great selection of food. Staff are really helpful and friendly. The day we went, it was really busy. It just shows how popular they are. Long waits to get a table and 45 min in the carvery que. Could have done with a few extra staff on that day.

Very slow, more interested in chatting. Even when asked, still nothing till about 20 minutes. Not even busy when we got there.

Another lovely meal at the racecourse, great food and great value, has the castle tower burger and would never leave unsatisfied. The manager was lovely as always and is always a lovely feeling when recognised for returning.

Came in and was warmly welcomed by a member of staff. Order was taken quickly and were sat on a clean table. Food was brought out quickly and tasted very good. Our server, Aimee, was very nice when clearing the plates and offered us desserts which we took her up on. Drinks were finished and we left the establishment with a nice goodbye from the staff. Will be coming here again and definitely recommend it.

Went to the racecourse for a family meal on Sunday 21st and have to say the food was very average. The meats were nice but the veg was awful and cheap especially the roast potatoes, they tasted and felt like rubber. Not impressed compared to a month ago when we last visited

We are a family of 6 and took our son there last night for a celebration evening meal, the greeting we recieved upon arriving and the staff were absolutely wonderful, friendly with a real personal feel and made us all so welcome with a 1st class service.the food was great and i would highly recommend as we will be returning very soon. Manythanks for giving us all a superb evening.

the food was dry and bland and clearly had been sat under the lights for a long time. My friend only realise after using her vinegar it had flies in. The cutlery was grubby and the staff seemed lethargic and bored. Harley got an apology after finding flies in the vinegar. Spent extra money on deserts and the waffle seemed stale and cold unfortunately this place has gone really downhill. It use to be a favourite of ours but not the same anymore. It felt really grubby and unhygienic will not be returning

Great restaurant to come and eat/drink. They messed up with our bill and charged us for 2 of the same meals however the lovely gentleman with the colourful shirt was really helpful. I will definitely return again soon and I would recommend this lovely restaurant to everyone.

Megan welcomed us, showed us to the table we'd only reserved by phone 30minutes before and couldn't have been more helpful throughout our visit. With 2 LD adults, 2 tired children and 2 hungry toddlers we found this high level of service really helpful! Nothing was too much trouble. Please thank the whole front of house team. Food was OK. Nothing to particularly write home about, but good value for the price and the kids ate free. 8 of us was £127 including softdrinks. good menu choices plus carvery. , happy to accommodate gf and df too. A choice of gf deserts!!! And df icecream!! We definitely recommend this restaurant.

Food was decent but there were hairs in our food didn’t want to eat it after that. Manager said that they were scratches until I picked the hairs up they gave us a refund afterwards
