Lovely hotel and pub just outside Norwich, was half the price of others around but turned out to be excellent value The room had a bigger tv, was warmer and comfier then the chain hotel I stayed in the night before The staff were friendly and helpful and the pub does a lively carvery too It's a shame I couldn't stay both night I had booked due to work but will be back here again when working in Norwich Parking is available in car park at the side or at the front of the hotel Breakfast available if you want to add it on and your own key with separate access means you can come in later at night and are not limited to pub opening hours like many rooms you get in other pubs

Room was lovely and situation on the riverside with the large beer garden was great. Large bathroom was appreciated. Staff were all very friendly and helpful and deserve special praise as the cheery nature made for a relaxing stay. The woodwork of the downstairs windows and exterior decor could do with being addressed. Breakfast until 11 and check out time of 12 were very much appreciated. The food was great and breakfast unhurried and calm. Thank you for a great stay.

Had to wait 15 minutes to check in at the bar as staff took orders for food and drink. Place smelt awful (burning fat), room was excessively hot, contractors working in kitchens directly below all night so I got no sleep at all. Breakfast was just fried food only, tables sticky and unclean. Watched a rat walk across the patio at breakfast time and hide behind a plant pot. I was embarrassed to have arranged another room for a work colleague who had same experience. I have travelled for work for over 35 years and stayed at hundreds of hotels. This is definitely in the worst three I’ve experienced.

This hotel was okay however, would be better for couples, singles or a quick stay. This hotel is not ideal for anyone with a pushchair, elderly or anyone with a disability because there is no access to a lift and the rooms require several flights of stairs to go up. I did not see this advertised. Myself and my mate both have 11 months old and 1 year old so it was extremely difficult with bags and the pushchairs ect We stayed in a family room which was spacious and light. The bathroom was also very spacious and clean. The downfall with it our room was the windows were not maintained and a lot of bugs and flies came in. The carpet seemed really filthy too as and could do with a vacuum and a carpet shampoo. The rest was immaculate though in the rooms. Beds were comfy and clean too Staff were helpful - shout out to Emily who helped me up the stairs with my pram as my baby wasnt well / I was on my own. Rooms could do with extra keys and maybe a fridge in the family room. I would stay again but not with my baby.

Arrived late so did not get to see very much. The room was clean, car park available and friendly staff. My room had view on the road, the other side of the building has view on the river, which is probably a lot nicer. Was close to my appointment the following day so convenient for me

I can’t find anything good to say apart from the view. We ordered and that was fine. Mother in law went into get carvery. The beef was tough and chewy, the rest was barely edible. I ordered chicken burger and franks fries. I got a findus burger and burnt chips. (See photo) I was so hungry I ate burger as we had been travelling all day and going here was supposed to be a treat. My partner ordered macaroni and cheese with pin wheels. The macaroni was inedible and the pin wheels burnt. The crowning glory if you can call it that is my partner had to go up and retrieve our food from the kitchen even though there was a few staff milling around, a waiter seen her do this and didn’t say anything. Totally lost for words, no one came to check if food was ok, if we needed anything else. Just terrible from start to finish. Would not recommend. Agree with one of the other reviews about the decor and facilities.

The staff were excellent. It was good value for money. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. For us the location was perfect. If we had not had a room facing the river our score would not be so high. Finding the car park was not very easily identified. I was asked if I wanted parking which I ask for. As the parking was limited I was surprised it was not reserved. Had there not been parking available we would not of been able to stay. It needs a/c in the rooms for hot days. You need to be aware there is no lift

This establishment has a great team of staff who basically will do anything to be helpful. It also has a really good view from the rear of the building as shown in my photo that on a sunny day should be the perfect spot for a relaxing drink. The cooked breakfast is also really good. What lets this place down is that it is scruffy. The building and its furniture and fittings need some attention. It is a shame. On a Saturday night, I would expect it to be full it wasn't, and that makes me think that the locals see the same thing. However, with this in mind, it is still worth staying for its location and nice view.

This place needs work,it looks very tired and in some places cobwebs hanging in the food area where carvery was being served but food was nice.To be honest it was the cobwebs hanging from the ceiling in the carvery area which was a bit worrying for us as it was near the food area. Also tables were wonky and the carpet looks grubby. We love coming for a carvery but the place needs a make over of some sort, Sorry to be negative but it's just our opinion.

For what you get for what you pay for food and drink and a room this place is very good, would love to see some draught beer though.

Lovely location. The building itself needs a little love but the room was clean, functional and nice and the bathroom was great. It would have been nice for the breakfast buffet to have included some cereals, fruit and yoghurt to balance out the naughtiness of the full English

The staff were absolutely brilliant even though there didn't seem to be many working and the restaurant was full they done everything they could to accommodate everyone. They all looked and acted professional they were all polite and nothing seemed to much trouble.

We arrived early at 2,50 pm - told (abruptly) - "book in not till 3pm!!. Room very clean. A bit on the small size but perfectly adequate. Lovely view of the river. Had carvery dinner - customers waiting at servery for about 10 mins . Had to find bar staff to find the chef!!. Food lukewarm. Plenty of meat but veg undercooked. Gravy tasty but lumpy. I would say lack of staff (saw 3 in total - 1 barmaid, the pizza chef and Carvery chef!!)). Breakfast pre cooked and left under heat lamps. Food lukewarm, baked beans congealed. Could do with more staff and the existing ones need training in customer service!!! No smiles or greetings. We have stayed at other Innkeepers Lodges - this one was a disappointment. The Town House overall looked bit shabby and unloved.

Very helpful staff. The room I had looked a little tired and the light was held onto the wall with safety tape ! Location was useful for my trip to Norfolk.

Extremely friendly and helpful staff, cleanliness and location all excellent with the only negative point in my opinion being the bend on exiting car park being in need of a mirror to be certain no vehicle coming in opposite direction

Excellent fish and chips. Freshly cooked. Chips lovely, not too greasy. The curry sauce and mushy peas were excellent. Will definitely return here.

Firstly the 2 star EHO sticker in the window is somewhat concerning, however the fact on the EHO website it is marked with a 1 star is confusing! The food is consistently inconsistent. Some visits is OK others not. Generally the restaurant and toilets need some attention to detail regarding cleanliness and the staff although polite, struggle to communicate effectively. Its a shame really as Newtown struggles for decent restaurants. I would need to see at least 3 stars for me to visit again.
