The best restaurants in East of England

Rubino Kitchen On Saturday we made a long overdue return to Rubino Kitchen. I’m delighted to say it was our best visit to date as we enjoyed a fabulous tasting menu created by chef / owner Rob. We were also looked after superbly by Sophie. The restaurant is on the Inworth Road just a ten minute drive from junction 23 on the A12. When we arrived Sophie was there to greet us warmly before seating us at our table. At this point Rob came out for a chat and to welcome us back. For the menu which is designed so you can either have A la Carte or create your own tasting menu. This gives you the opportunity to have as many dishes as you like as well as this there also the choice of a set three course lunch menu. We decided to opt for the offer from Rob to have a surprise tasting menu. We started with a Chicken and Leek Terrine which was followed by Rabbit Agnolotti , Baked Scallops , Braised Beef with Horseradish Risotto and Haddock. Then it was time for desserts. Here we enjoyed the delicious Lemon Tart , Custard Tart and the Biscoff Cheesecake. We finished with a coffee before heading into the kitchen where we could personally thank Rob and the team for a great afternoon. There is no doubt in my mind when I say I would recommend a visit to Rubino Kitchen which is one of the best restaurants in Essex. Was a table of 2 walk ins at 630 on a Tuesday evening . Table was nice and the drinks were lovely recommended the mango lassy Ordered a lamb dish sadly it was bland too much yougurt and the lamb was like warm in places. Chicken curry was very nice. Girlfriend is a vegan and was served non vegan friendly food after stating that she was vegan multiple times Food cleared by foh no questions if everything was ok etc Seemed like there was too much staff and no one was acting professionally. Sadly an overall poor dining experience from a place that thought highly off Won’t be returning

Popped in for a late lunch. Had a lovely meal - piping hot and tasty. Great range of food in the menu and very reasonably priced. Lovely staff - smiley and friendly

Great facilities and great people to deal with

Great service, genuine warm welcome, friendly staff and cocktails that were amazing, not watered down like a lot of bottomless branch establishments now days. A definite place for ladies what lunch!

Excellent roast lamb with vegetables. Have had roast chicken before which was also tip top. Great staff, great location, great food.

Be aware. The pastry-chef wife and her bantering husband, who deservedly got such great reviews, have now retired. The place has been taken over by two friendly guys who are doing their best. But the pastries/cakes are now bought-in and they are even considering serving Sushi and other Asian delights. I wish them luck ...... but it is NOT the same experience.

Very accommodating as there were 13 of us for Sunday lunch. Nothing was too much trouble. Staff friendly. Food was lovely. Will definitely be visiting again

Fantastic service, food and atmosphere yet again. We swapped our booking to an earlier time, we arrive and were welcomed along with our 2 hounds! Food amazing, plates overflowing, a proper roast.

The service was good and the food was nice enough but way overpriced, even before the ‘optional’ 12.5% service charge had been added. £41.00 for two coffees, two sandwiches and a takeaway flapjack !! Steep !!

Great food fair prices good service friendly staff owner/chef nice atmosphere we have been eating here at various times for the last 10 years and we have never had cause to complain

Since reopening and new ownership this place is so much better. Pie is yummy and staff are great :) I would say Tendering now have a good place to go for a decent pie and mash meal! They also do salt beef bagels (Although too expensive @ £7.50 they are delicious) A Must try if you are in clacton!

The food was spot on as usual. It was a busy evening and the take away orders were plentiful. We were not in any rush and it gave us an opportunity to watch the operation of this popular restaurant. Claire you have the patience of a Saint and you handle every situation in a very professional manner. Your attention to customers and the service in the restaurant can only be credited to you. Your experience shows through and you are a priceless gem!

This place dont change the frying oil therefore the food was very dark and oily . Never again !!
