The service was good and the food was nice enough but way overpriced, even before the ‘optional’ 12.5% service charge had been added. £41.00 for two coffees, two sandwiches and a takeaway flapjack !! Steep !!

Whilst the food was good, the prices are quite high and then to add a service charge on what effectively is a cafe seems a bit extreme.

What a great find today. We had the smoked mackerel pate for lunch and it was superb. Our friends had cake and scones which they thoroughly enjoyed. All served with such friendliness and justified pride in what they offer. Thoroughly recommended

A lovely quaint place. Very clean and welcoming. The coffee (latte) was served as I asked for, very hot with extra shot. The breakfast sandwich was so tasty. The bacon and sausage obviously quality, and plenty of it. For me, I would prefer thicker bread or sourdough, but that didn’t deter my enjoyment.

We were recommended to this cafe and were not disappointed. As soon as we entered, we were warmly greeted by Elisha and offered a choice of tables. She was friendly, efficient, attentive, and professional. Our food was served promptly, and the sandwiches were plentiful and scrumptious, accompanied by crisps and a well prepared inviting salad. This cafe is a gem and we will return. Based on this fabulous experience, we would definitely recommend.

Love Wittles - always delicious coffee and good food. Some of the bad reviews on here seem to be by people looking for Royal Doulton and dainty sandwiches. If that’s you, go somewhere else and leave Wittles to people with taste!

My first time at this fab little eating place, an olde-Worlde English tearoom but with a thoroughly welcome modern twist. Delicious coffee and yumscious cakey treats but also smart brunchables like smashed avocado and poachies on sourdough. Love the environmentally friendly cups. Service was attentive and friendly - really welcoming, even though we had two extremely muddy dogs that had just been swimming in the river. Yummy, scrummy and chummy! More please - we’ll be back!

This place looks nice, but the service is slow and the portions are rather small and there was a strange atmosphere no one looked very happy. I ordered the avocado and poached egg on toast brunch. It consisted of one slice of rather tough sour dough bread, didn’t seem to have any butter on an avocado which was actually nice and a cold poached egg. This came with lots of dressed lettuce which is not what I’d consider as a side for a brunch. I wasn’t keen on the salt and pepper which was in open pots to put on by hand. ( a great way to spread germs) I also had a small beer and a coffee. It came to £22:16 which I couldn’t quite work out as I was not offered a receipt and the brunch was £12, or maybe £12:50 so I was either charged around £10 for a small beer and a coffee or they stuck a service charge on without making it clear. I won’t be returning it was lacking atmosphere and overpriced.

Very disappointed. A member of my family has a severe dairy allergy and told the waiter when we received our menu. The waiter assured us that it was fine and showed us the dairy free menu. We proceeded to order and received the food. The food was nicely presented but after a bite, my family member had a severe allergic reaction. Upon telling the staff about the reaction, they were unapologetic and said there could have been contamination. However, the severity of the reaction implies that this meal contained dairy and was not simply contamination. The waiter was very rude and was not even concerned about my family members condition. I had to ask to get money off the final bill, it was not offered. Will not be returning here.

I always try and support small businesses over chains, but sadly on this occasion I have to say; Over priced, sneaky service charge, poor experience as a customer and CUPS WITH NO HANDLES THTA ARE TOO HOT TO HOLD!!! Not been to Castle Acre for years and we loved to come to go to the Castle Acre Tea Rooms by the Church was was perfection; drop in, have a Norfolk Scone & Honey, great value, unpretentious, lovely atmosphere - a proper English tea room. So now when visiting since it closed a few years ago, the only option other than the pub was Whittles and our experience will mean we won’t be back. Arrived at about 2.15, was told no lunches etc. only cakes. Ok….can we not have whatever is on the menu? But opted for teas and a few cakes. When the hot drinks arrived we just had to laugh - earthenware beakers with no handles ! How are you supposed to hold hot liquid without a handle? We had to ask for napkins and use sleeves of our clothes to drink from them. Honestly, how ridiculous! Then at 2.45 the doors were shut on a very hot day and the serving staff (who were very polite I have to say) said cleaning was about to begin and clouds of dust swirled around us, before the toilets were shut for cleaning. The sign said it was open until 3. Ourselves and the two other tables exchanged looks and all agreed it was clearly time for us to go! Cleaning should not be undertaken whilst customers are still there, and eating, before the advertised closing time. For all of this experience - they added on 10% ‘service charge’ to the already over priced bill. What on earth has happened to just a simple tea room?! This is pretentious and think it’s in East London and not a tiny Norfolk village.

It was nice to be offered tap water before our tea arrived on a hot day. We arrived at 14:55 and had a pot of tea and a scone. The scone was lovely, the cream was very minimal, not enough to cover both sides of the scone sufficiently. The cups have no handles, so make it difficult to hold. We were asked if we take sugar, as though they would take it away if we didn’t. Just leave it there rather than ask the question, please. At 15:10 we were the last customers in there, they close at 15:30. They then made us feel very unwelcome by putting the chairs on the table around us getting ready to close, which was a great shame. Wish we had chosen the pub rather than the tea room.

A super quaint tea room Mum and I had lunch on a Saturday. It had been busy with walkers groups so the menu was shorter than earlier that day but we enjoyed pork pie and leaves plus a carrot & hummus wrap with crisps and leaves. Followed by 2 homemade Victoria sandwich cakes - the lightest I’ve ever had! Well done for great food and the best service

Called in to Wittles after visiting Castle Acre (English Heritage). Very welcoming and a great choice of menu. We had a cream tea and the scone was big and served warm with cream and jam. Very reasonably priced too. What we saw of other food being served, it certainly looked plentiful.

Popped in for lunch, was warned it would be a half hour wait which we were fine with (actual wait was a bit less than that). The staff were all lovely and attentive. We ordered the "best of Norfolk" sharing board and an afternoon tea and apart from the scone (which was very nice) and the chutney, it was all a bit of a letdown. Pork pie was ok, hummus wasn't great and there's too much of it. The cheese was like the cheddar you get in the supermarket (If that's the best cheddar Norfolk produces then it's a very sorry state of affairs). The bread for the ham sandwiches seems to be the cheap catering wholemeal bread you've likely come across if you buy a sandwich in a meal deal. It wasn't horrible, we ate most of it. But it is very overpriced for what it is and then on top of that is a 12.5% service charge is added which is ludicrous for a little cafe like this. Our bill came to £46.13 which I think is far too much for the relatively small amount of cheap food we received.

It’s lovely inside, so much to look at and things for sale too. I ordered a sausage egg and bacon roll. It was quite big! It came on a warm plate and the meat was from priors butchers. The teapots and crockery were vintage, loved them. I saw they catered well for gluten free and vegetarian options too. The cafe is dog friendly so as a dog lover, sitting by the door was fun to greet them as they came in. Can’t fault the food, parking, and all the lovely things to look at. I think it could be made more cosy by maybe putting up small partitions/ trellis in some areas maybe. They had a large selection of amazing cakes too!
