Ambiance Cafe & Restaurant in Huntingdonshire

Please note, this nice cafe is a long way from Cambridge! It is in the lovely Riverside Park just outside St Neots Town centre. It's a very pleasant place for a coffee and snack or bagette, sitting outside under their covered terrace and overlooking a (currently very pondweedy) pond and willow trees. The River Ouse is right nearby. As for the cafe, nice coffee and a good choice of snacks. And friendly staff. I haven't had a full meal there yet, but what I did see looked fresh and generous helpings.

Nice cafe in the park, great choice in snacks, meals and icecreams. I had a lovely milk shake and a great breakfast.Nice seating area in or out.

Great little cafe in a lovely setting on the edge of a huge park. Plenty of choice - all day breakfast, burgers, sandwiches & salads. Very quick & freshly cooked. Great service from friendly staff. Place was spotless. We sat watching herons, swans & ducks on the river. Children had ice cream for the walk home & parents were given one on the house! Would definitely recommend for a quick bite or drink. We’ll return next time we are in St Neots.

We came here years ago and returning today was such a different experience! The prices have doubled and the food was awful. Two of the items on the plate had gone off and when we asked for some money back they refused and were adamant their food is fresh! We were offered two free hot drinks instead. When we have eaten elsewhere and there has been a problem with the food, we have been offered a replacement. The staff brought drinks out we hadn't ordered and when we asked for the drinks we wanted the waitress rolled her eyes and clearly wasn't happy. What an unfriendly atmosphere! It used to be lovely and welcoming and the food was good. All the staff were very courteous, friendly and helpful in the past. At £11 a meal I would expect good quality food that was actually enjoyable to eat. We were going to order dessert but felt so unwelcome and unhappy with our experience we decided to have pudding somewhere else. We then got smoke blown in our face when we were trying to enjoy our drinks which made me cough. We will be looking for somewhere else for a main meal in future. What a shame. I hope it improves again in the future.

The food excellent . The location is superb with nice views. Kitchen staff could be more polite. I would visit again there for sure but would be cautious about engaging with kitchen staff.

Whilst a car park may not be the most appealing setting for a cafe, Ambiance appears a lot more attractive if you sit facing the adjacent park, which is green and pretty, with a couple of small lakes, ducks etc. I found the staff friendly and brisk, the menu of snacks and light meals extensive and the atmosphere cheerful. Perhaps I was unlucky, but the food and drink I chose rather let the side down. My cup of tea was, in reality, 2/3 of a cup of tea. Milk was added immediately, on top of a teabag, and the water used was not boiling - taken from the coffee machine, I assume. So it was an insipid and luke-warm cuppa, I'm afraid. I can't criticise the cafe for the quality of the tasteless pre-packaged flapjack but I can say I would rather have had a choice of home made cakes - most cafes manage to offer something freshly baked. Lastly the cheese on toast, which consisted of two limp halves of toast with a pool of melted cheese dolloped between them. One piece was half covered by the pool, whilst the cheese barely made it an inch onto the other piece. The cheese itself was salty but otherwise flavourless. A cheap mild cheddar, I'd say. The food and drink was very cheap, which is good, but even at bargain prices, I would expect better than this. In any case, frankly, I would rather have paid a little more for something with flavour that had been prepared with care.

I've been here a few times for coffee and food, its a lovely setting in the park and great for food, I;ve had drinks, ice creams and breakfast here and never been disappointed

If we are out and about having our walking exercise through Riverside Park we often stop here for a drink, a snack or an ice cream. In fact it is the only cafe we visit in St Neots . Always good and friendly service. The only downside is when sitting outside and someone comes and sits at an adjacent table blowing smoke everywhere.

Food is good . They get the orders wrong a lot.beans instead of tomatoes. And forget he bread and butter. Over priced. However the food is alway fresh hot and tasty . The price is high

Called in with a friend on a motorcycle ride look out. Have tried lots of bacon baps & cappuccinos this year. Rare to find both good. This place `nailed it`. Bacon cooked well , and great cappuccino. Well definitely come back. Quick service considering how busy they were.

The best thing about this cafe is the staff, the food is always consistently great and the service is swift and efficient but it’s all the people who work there that make it truly amazing. However busy they are, they always have time for a chat and a smile. These may seem like small things but they make a huge difference, They are genuinely lovely people and that’s why it’s worth a visit.

We had a breakfast which was lovely, nice crisp bacon and good quality items, including the sausage. Everything looks nice and fresh and staff are lovely. BUT THE BIGGEST THING IS WHICH I WANT TO SAY THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR is my disabled dad dropped his wallet in this place with enough money in it for someone to keep, however one of the waiters, a really nice bloke wearing a cap, come and handed it back. We were so impressed by this and so extremely grateful. THANKS SO MUCH and I cant imagine that everyone is as honest these days. Really lovely staff, always chat and never to busy to pass the time of day and they are clearly honest people based on this. If this guy decided to have kept it, we would never have known and he would have known that so we really appreciated this.

We stopped here to have a walk by the river and found this little gem. Thought we may as well have lunch here, we were not disappointed. I had roast beef and hubby had lasagne, large portions, tasty food, and the staff were friendly and efficient, nothing was too much trouble. Would definately recommend.

We where recently travelling South and decided on an impromtu stop for food. Checked nearby for suitable venues and came across Ambience Cafe. When we pulled into the council car park which serves the local park and saw lots of people sat outside dining. We ventured in and ordered Jacket potato with cheese and salad and a mushroom & onion omelette with chips. The first thing I noted was how polite the young man who served me was , please thankyou etc. Then when the food came again the same friendly polite service from the young lady waitress. Meals delivered and immediately followed by the condiments, we started to eat. Everything was well presented and tasted lovely. If anyone is in the area and needs a good quality meal with excellent service call in at the Ambience Cafe. Indoor and Outdoor seating , Parking and Great food.

Visited today for the third time ; a family run cafe in a park near the river . Staff extremely friendly and helpful . Food excellent and large proportions too . Well worth the visit , car parking good , £1:60 for two hours with a nice walk in the park to walk off the meal !

WOW !!! Just superb guys, food and service was 100% pukka, was a bit unsure about COVID-19 but I felt safe at all times, staff were absolutely on point with hygiene and cleaning etc...highly recommended xx

La elección de la comida era buena y tenía una buena relación calidad-precio. El servicio fue excelente. Encontré este café en Google cuando buscaba un lugar para encontrarme con algunos viejos amigos que no fuera demasiado lejos para que viajáramos todos, ya que veníamos de direcciones opuestas. Decidimos que Street Neots estaría a mitad de camino para todos y luego busqué un lugar para reunirnos y comer. Nuevamente, busque con Google Goggle y encontramos la cafetería Ambience. Llegué a las 10 am. Tan fácil de estacionar y no estaba ocupado en ese momento y un bloque de inodoros muy limpio, bien ubicado, muy limpio en el estacionamiento justo al lado de la cafetería. Café estaba limpio, bien organizado con un personal increíble y un servicio tan amable. Hizo que los clientes se sintieran realmente bienvenidos. Excelentes asientos al aire libre bien espaciados con hermosas vistas sobre el agua o bajo la sombra de los sauces por los que optamos. La vista no es tan buena, pero es tan agradable estar a la sombra del sol que se estaba tostando incluso para entonces. Este no es un Bistro o comida gourmet, pero definitivamente es un café de alto nivel y en la cima de su juego. La comida era excelente y buenas porciones bien preparadas y muy buena relación calidad-precio y también el desayuno viene con un café o té. El café era tan bueno como todo lo demás. También tiene una heladería incorporada que tiene una selección justa de diferentes tamaños y sabores y los que tuvimos estaban deliciosos. Una vez más, el tamaño de los helados es grande y un precio muy justo ya que las bolas son grandes. Una vez terminado en la cafetería, el área a su alrededor es enorme, con buenos asientos salpicados en hermosos lugares sombreados junto al agua y debajo de los árboles. Hay un gran parque infantil que estaba bien poblado con muchas mamás y niños pequeños cuando nos fuimos. También hay un ferrocarril en miniatura, pero no funciona todos los días, consulte su sitio web. Se ve bien y haremos una visita de regreso para llevar a nuestro nieto pequeño. También hay un parque de patinetas y patinetas que es de acceso gratuito y parecía que muchos padres habían traído patinetas y patinetas para sus hijos y se estaban divirtiendo en todas las pistas y curvas. Este no es un lugar lujoso, sino un lugar de reunión familiar para todas las edades. Popped in for a bit of lunch with my nanny. Was very impressed the service was spot on, quick and efficient. The food was brilliant and all for a good price. The cafe was also very clean and tidy. Will visit again.

Friendly family run business close to park and play area with great wholesome food at reasonable prices. Great breakfast, jacket potatoes and home made specials like steak pie. Something for all tastes. Snacks or meals. Fantastic for families, couples or singles. Large outside seating area.

How they produce the quality and choice out of their little kitchen I don’t know. The food is always fresh and tasty and there is service with a smile. Well worth a visit and in a great location. If I had any kind of negative it’d be the queues for the toilet, one men’s, rarely used and a ladies in much demand. I’d turn them both into unisex. Well worth a visit, I’ve had something different each time and it was all great.

This cafe is well supported and no wonder. The location on the edge of a lake is a good start. It has an excellent selection of dishes including an all day breakfast. Ample parking but you have to pay for this(40p an hour). A great meeting place for friends and family.

Stopped for afternoon tea/coffee in this nicely located café just outside St.Neots in the park adjacent to the River Ouse.There is plenty of seating both in the café & on the decking that surrounds it all. The adjacent car park is cheap to stay in with plenty of spaces.Well used by the locals, which is always a good sign.There are some nice views overlooking the park & on a sunny day would be lovely to sit outside.A good range of cheap eats, well worth a visit.

Really popular place, but plenty of seating outside and no matter what we have always got a table. Have had omelette before and they were really good, but to be honest, we love having a baguette and sharing a portion of fries... Generous portions! Service excellent. Always made to feel welcome.

The worst services ce experience we had. The guy who served us had a bad attitude to a point he refused to serve salt and vinegar for chips that my kids ordered. It came across that he didn't want to work there and complaining that he had to go up and down couple of times because we ordered food for 6 people.

Had breakfast here on a Sunday to celebrate my birthday and a friend's birthday. The service was amazing with drinks delivered instantly and food within a couple of minutes of being ordered. The quality was excellent, and a wide range of breakfast options. Highly recommended.

This cafe/restaurant always seems to be busy - it is certainly very popular. Very close to the river, children's play area and the marvelous Riverside Miniature Railway, it is in an excellent position. Food and drink are all very good and reasonably priced. A big favourite with our family.

Organizamos con el propietario Mandy, una pequeña comida de cumpleaños para su madre que era 96 y le encanta este café. Teníamos el bistec y la tarta madre había hecho cottage (casa) con todos los adornos y fue genial como siempre. el personal es siempre muy amable, después de la comida que ella trajo una tarta con velas y todo el personal le cantaron feliz cumpleaños a nuestra madre incluso los clientes se unieron, fue genial ver su cara tan feliz. For a lovely Sunday morning treat head down to the Ambience for a full English breakfast. Great food, clean and great prices. We go here often and have taken visiting family & friends. A big thumbs up from all.

Consistently good and you never leave hungry. Home made food and not from a packet. Whilst the breakfasts are great, the main meals are better. Lasagne home made with chips and salad is a must.

He utilizado este café un par de veces. Es genial para un batido frío en verano sentado en la terraza. Tienen también almorzamos aquí, la comida de muy buena calidad y las porciones generosas. Mucha variedad satisface a todos. Es un hotel regentado por una familia muy agradable de apoyo en vez de grandes cadenas de tiendas.

No escriba muchas críticas, pero siento la necesidad de felicitar a los dueños de este café encantador informal para la calidad y la amabilidad de su servicio, y la manera en que sirven la comida fresca en proporciones considerables porciones de simple un extenso menú. El personal es absolutamente genial, y visitar la cafetería siempre que puedo (y ahora muchos otros conmigo, después de haber sido introducida por amigos), aunque yo no vivo cerca. Tanto si lo que quieres es una simple taza, una ensalada fresca, un 'inglés' o simplemente un helado en un ambiente cafe, pero una gran sonrisa, este es el lugar. La ubicación también ofrece aparcamiento fácil delante y rodeado por el parque. A veces encontrar un lugar, que es mucho más que la suma de sus partes, y para mí esto es uno. Para el registro que no tienen conexión al comercio o los propietarios pero no desearles éxito.

we called at the Ambiance Cafe & Restaurant today and had our lunch the staff are very friendly And we did,nt have to wait long for our meal. it is lovely and clean inside but as it was a nice day we sat outside and the waitress soon bought our meal and drinks to us very reasonable price. will go again.

We eat here regularly mostly for breakfast. Nothing is too much trouble and the staff are ALWAYS friendly, attentive and food is equally as good

Second visit here and did not disappoint, staff friendly and great service, good selection of food and served fairly quickly, recommend the New York Jack burger very filling. Summer times can get a little busy as is a popular spot, plenty of seating inside and out.

A really lovely cafe with an excellent choice of food and drinks, the Latte coffee is perfect! Any cafe is only as good as the quality of staff and the service here is 100% so well done to all involved offering quality food and drink at very reasonable prices with courtious friendly service in a spotlessly clean environment...we'll be back!!

Had an absolutely lovely visit to this cafe with two young sons today (1 and 3 year old). The menu was varied and well priced- the portions are large for both adults and children. Our baked potatoes were some of the nicest we've had and the salad garnish was exceptional- not just a couple leaves but a proper little salad. The staff were very welcoming and accommodating. As previous reviewers have mentioned, there isn't a huge amount of space between tables, but we did manage to have a highchair and our buggy near us without causing too much chaos. We'll definitely be visiting again!

stopped here for coffee, sat on the terrace overlooking the park which was nice, but they need to get rid of the old bbq (which is being used as a giant ashtray) outside at the back. Nice coffee (cappuchino at £2.20, not bad), didnt try any food, but the menu looks good, varied and most of all, very reasonably priced. All sandwich fillings are in a fridge display, so they will be made to order..will defo go back and try and review again...looks promising

quite small cafe but masses of outside seating [picnic tables] for the nicer weather. Great place for families but note it costs - 40p hour to park in the week. Lake with pathways and bridges to explore and feed the ducks and swans, children's play area [gated but very muddy and wet this week] after all there have been floods! Ancient mini golf for the summer. Beware of slippery boardwalk up into the cafe - especially if you are carrying a small child. Lovely hot chocolate and snacks - nice omelettes etc. DIY choice full english with multiple choices. Not a lot of space between tables - we blocked the aisle with the high chair!!! Would'nt be much space for a wheelchair inside - ok on raised patio area. Mother of baby said nowhere to do a change in the toilet! - resorted to the car. Easy walk over road bridge into town - lots of shops to explore - open on a Sunday! Boats to look at on the river.

Very nice cafe style eaterie, fine for just a coffee or beer but also good for lunches - mainly burgers, omelettes, breakfasts etc. Can get very busy in summer and dogs welcomed (Outside tables).

Plenty of people sitting outside on the terrace enjoying their full English breakfasts suggested to us that this cafe provides good meals. As we were setting off back up north on this Sunday and the cafe provided cold sandwiches to take out, we thought we'd take some with us to eat during a break in our journey. Mistake.The sandwiches were made with the same cheap thick sliced bread used to make the toast to accompany the breakfasts we'd seen so many of. This bread doth not good sandwiches make!!We were charged £2.50 for 2 slices of this bread with spread on and single slice of cheese between. This sandwich went straight in the bin untouched.We were charged £2.60 for 2 slices of this bread with spread on and single slice of processed ham between. I ate the sandwich, but only because I was hungry, otherwise it would've followed it's cheesy colleague.Now as hearty and appetising as the many breakfasts appeared, this review is of our experience... dreadful!

This is a pretty little place next to the river, close to the town with ample parking. Ideal spot to sit and watch children play, the swans glide by and enjoy a cool drink or ice cream. I have only had a sandwich here for food and it was very nice too. Nice seating areas.

My wife and I eat in here regularly, the food is excellent value and quite varied. A great place to go in the summer as they have music in the park right outside. The place is a family run business who are very friendly and accommodating as are all the staff.

We chanced across this place when looking to find somewhere to stop off for a break on our journeys north on the nearby A1 (a three-minute or so drive away). The surrounding area really is lovely - there is a marina, a duck pond filled with swans, a playground and generally lovely green areas.The cafe is nothing flash, but does what it sets out to do: offer good, satisfying food that doesn't cost too much. The menu is fairly varied - sandwiches, jacket potatoes, fry-ups, pies, etc... - with a good options for children. Everything we've had has been impressive in quantity and quality. It is the staff who really help make this place, however. We tend to come in with a very energetic toddler and they always do their upmost to assist us and make us feel welcome. The place is very clean too.So all in all, it's not a posh dining experience (it doesn't pretend to be) but as a place to have a good lunch in genuinely lovely surroundings, it comes very highly recommended.

Usually stop here for tea or ice cream during the Summer. Sat inside on most recent visit. Food looked good although we never tasted it as the prices seemed rather high. As another reviewer mentioned, they have posters up advertising products they do not sell e.g. Walkers crisps, which is deceptive.We prefer to sit outside on the wooden balcony but have had our experience frequently ruined by people smoking at adjacent tables. Clean cafe which has no competition unless you walk over the river bridge into the town.

First visit for breakfast , has to be one of the best breakfast I've had in a long while, staff very friendly and provide a warm welcome.

Situated in the park. Plenty of pay and display parking. Made feel welcome by staff. Good varied menu from breakfasts, lunch to dinners. We were there at lunchtime. we all had all day breakfasts. Which were well cooked and very tasty. They have inside and outside seating. It is situated near the adventure play area.

We're regular visitors, though not local, and we visit St Neots because of this cafe. It's unpretentious, clean and offers a very wide range of food from the usual things like breakfasts, cooked main meals, sandwiches, omelettes, chips etc, through to fresh salads (which we always have). Servings are generous and all freshly prepared to order. For a small place it has a very wide range on offer, but it's not a standard English 'tea room' and doesn't pretend to be (although they have a few wrapped cakes). Seating is indoors and out and it's beside a large car park, play area and park land with the River Great Ouse - with a short walk over the bridge to the excellent little town. The owner and her son are very nice indeed, and the staff the same - all very friendly and efficient and, as in a previous review, nothing is too much trouble!!! It has a genuine family atmosphere, they love children and the cafe is full of people of all ages, including the very elderly and disabled.Our only criticism is that it can be a bit chilly in the winter months - but we're willing to put up with that! We love it!

This place is ideal if you are having a family day out in the park and you want anything ranging from a coffee or ice cream right up to a cheese burger and coke. We have stopped here numerous times when taking my son to the park to play on the swings, its a lovely place, staff are friendly, food is good, price is good and its right on my doorstep. Well done guys - good job

This place has a captive market, yet are not making the best of it. It looks like a nice enough place and I'd arranged to meet a friend and was looking for coffee and cake near the playpark for my toddler. There is a really nice picture of a carrot cake on their website, but this type of thing is not available (probably should have known this from looking at the menu on the website), and the staff weren't incredibly helpful, so ended up having a slice of chocolate fudge cake with ice cream, however it was the strangest, smallest chocolate fudge cake I've ever had and was served with soft (Mr Whippy type) ice cream :-/Just a bit disappointed really.
