We took our parents for their 50th wedding anniversary. This is the third time we have been. The food is amazing quality and the portions are great. Service is fab and locals are really friendly. It’s become one of our most favourite places to go out to eat. I couldn’t recommend it enough

One of the best steaks I’ve ever had. Service was good, staff friendly and polite. Place was clean but sadly very basic in the restaurant area, seat covers and decor look tired. I would definitely recommend this place as the food was lovely and we really enjoyed eating from the hot rock .

The steaks are amazing, staff friendly and the feel of the place is very welcoming but it could be so much better if the attention to details mattered. We both had the fillet steak, on the hot plate, which were perfect but the sides are simply awful, he had chips, there were about 8..I had the jacket potato, it came out shrivelled with no butter ! The chargrilled veg accompanying the steaks were completely overdone and we were not asked if we wanted any sauces All it would take is a bit more effort, bring out sauces such as mustard, ask if someone wants butter, bring out fresh chopped onion and veg with the hot plate, these minor things would make this restaurant what it should be.

We have been coming here for a few years now and we always have an incredible meal. Always have the fillet steak, and its the best I have ever had out! The chips and veg are always top notch too. Quirky little pub with a good, well stocked bar. If you have room, try the desserts!

I stayed here on business just over a week ago. As a solo female traveler it’s important for me to be happy where I stay. This was my first visit to this location. I arrived earlier than expected and received a warm welcome. The pub is a lovely old building which has a great atmosphere. Outside has lots of room and great parking. It is in a pretty village. My room was spacious and en-suite. It was clean and tidy with a comfortable bed, with the most fantastic half timbered walls. I walked around the village a little and visited the local church. Very interesting. I decided to eat at the pub. I had the lamb hot rock and a desert with a few glasses of red. The food was really good, so was the wine. Great choice! The pub was also clean, tidy and very welcoming. I often steer clear of stopping in pubs due to the noise level as I can be a light sleeper, but I did notice that even though on a Friday night, any noise soon disappeared quite early on although the pub had plenty of customers. The following morning I was again welcomed by the landlord who cooked a lovely breakfast for me. When I had the bill, for dinner, bed and breakfast it was £97 which I thought was incredible value for money. I left, happy and very impressed with the stay. I visited the restaurant with family. I had the hot rock steak and the rest of the party had other menu mains. All the meals were huge and delicious! The chips were great and the steak was very succulent. I will definitely eat here again. Good value for the size of the portions. Also the desserts looked amazing but we were just too full to fit anything in!

The food was great, one of the best rump steaks I've had in a while. 7 of us went, the service was great. Friendly staff. I will be returning for my meat fix! Highly recommend.

Totally over rated. The ribs taste like a bonfire and not smoked as stated. All the food was dry and tasteless. Corn was hard to eat and the onion rings hard. Wish I complained at the time and got my money back.

Food was amazing, menu is a little small. Half way through the meal the waiter brought over corn on the cob and apologised that they forgot to bring it with our meals, which was absolutely fine (to be honest it wasn’t missed with all the items of food on the plate!) however the corn was frozen. Good value for money. The place was extremely busy, would have preferred to be sat in the restaurant rather then the pub. But overall a good dinner out

So disappointed After friends hyped this place up, I was so excited to try it, the steaks are bought to your table to cook to your liking on hot slates We both ordered the fillet, with jacket potato and sides, the steak itself was of great quality but the jacket potato was as hard as a cricket ball, the vegetables overcooked and tasteless and the corn on the cob inedible No sauces or seasoning to accompany the steaks, which I literally couldn't believe, I mean hie difficult would it be to place pots of rock salt and cracked pepper on the tables! Give it a miss, completely over rated!

My partner went here for a works meal and raved about it so we booked. The chilli poppers to start were delicious. I had the on a rock fillet and wow it was so good, the fillet was delicious. Will be going back again

After needing to find a restaurant with short notice The Black Rock Grill came up trumps. They managed to get us in the restaurant after people had vacated the table earlier than expected ( we were originally going to be seated in the bar). The waitress was very helpful. Ryan pulled out all the stops to get us in to celebrate our sons 17th birthday . The food was delicious. Everyone enjoyed cooking their steaks and the quality of the steak was outstanding. Starters were yummy . I had the prawns as main and another member of the party had the spatchcock chicken also delicious. Definitely somewhere to go to you won’t be disappointed.

Truly outstanding. Brian, Ryan and their amazing team come through even with the latest tougher regulations, and they continue to do an outstanding job. All rules and regulations in place and as ever, a pleasure to visit with friends and also to dine. The filet on the rock is spectacular, as is the lamb. Could not fault anything on the menu. Went there with two guests visiting us. Had been before in December and it was good. However, we were embarrassed by how bad service was when we took our friends. Waiting staff dressed in scruffy jeans and t-shirts, no attentiveness. We struggled to catch waitresses attention, even though the restaurant was not busy. Food was poor/average quality, and frankly, over priced. Would recommend the salmon dish for the sauce but ....... seriously - it was a skinny fillet that I could get at Tesco/Aldi for a couple of quid ! No customer service at all. We queried the cold air from the (positively filthy) aircon unit next to our table and the owner stuck a knife in it and said he'd try and fix it tomorrow. A shame - we won't eat there again .Would not recommend it to anyone. A soul-less, over priced place.

My sister and I went for lunch, when we arrived, they show as a table, we were given two menus, one was the lunchtime menu, the other for the evening.Do you have any starters? No, I don't think so...........The steak came and it was fantastic but the service was not there. It is a beautiful place, no care for, and I had the feeling that I was disturbing the rest time of the waiters. I will give five stars for the food, and one for the service. what a pity, a fantastic lunch spoiled by bad or no service.

Visited on a Wednesday evening. Pub was busy, restaurant fairly quiet. There were 4 of us and we all chose a hot rock option. My fillet steak was generous and appropriately lean. Had with a jacket potato, so apart from the butter on the potato was much in line with the SlimmingWorld food plan I am currently following. Too full for dessert but liked the fact that samples of the dessert selections were brought on a tray for us to see. Nice, relaxed atmosphere too. Recommended to my other half who visited on his regular boys night out last week, and he was equally impressed.

We tried here for the first time tonight for hubby’s birthday , i am on slimming world and often struggle to find things to eat while out or some times just get given salad leaves and small steak , this was fantastic steak full salad and roasted veg it was delicious and my freinds all had lovely meals too and delicious puddings . If you are doing #slimmingworld I highly recommend this place as I know lots of you struggle to find places to eat

I love this place. Large steaks served on a 400 degree ‘hot rock’ ready for you to cook yourself. Unique, fun, and perfectly delicious.

I've never cooked my own steak before, which made this such a unique experience. I went for the the most expensive fillet steak and the cut was amazing. Beautifully clean and served on a super-heated rock. The steak had been seared on both sides, but then you could cook it how you liked, even cutting it on a separate plate and cooking each piece to perfection. I would have preferred chunky chips but it came with french fries and coleslaw, which looked homemade. I liked the way that Karen brought out examples of all the desserts on a board so I could see them all. I decided on the sticky toffee pudding which came with a generous helping of fresh cream. Everything was reasonably priced and my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Black Rock Grill.

Went here for lunch and was disappointed restaurant wasn’t open and not told this when booking 1pm table. Sat in bar area and was ok I supposed. Anyway ... when the steak came it was absolutely amazing ! Great to kinda cook it as you want off the rock. Very impressed with the quality of food being served ! Don’t be put off sitting in the bar area as food makes it more than worthwhile but restaurant area a lot smarter and cleaner looking Well worth a visit

Three of us hairy bikers racked up there around 7pm on a school-night, and without a reservation! After a warm friendly welcome, we were seated quickly and all ordered Sirloin Black Rock Steaks. Wow! no, I mean wow! Service was excellent and the food was amazing. With each of our steaks sizzling on our own individual hot black rock, we were able to cook them and season them just as we wanted. As if that wasn't enough, their desserts are amazing too, not just in terms of taste, but in terms of choice as well. Highly recommend making a journey to find and dine here folks.

Always love going to The Manor ! I enjoy cooking my steak usually, but there are a number of choices from lamb, chicken to name a few. The meal is served on a very hot black smooth rock with side dishes, which you choose. The staff are friendly and helpful and there is a nice atmosphere in the restaurant and bar.

After being recommended we were looking for a great evening out, we chose our starters only to find the salmon one two of us fancied was sold out at 7pm. So not a good start.

I stop here during a business trip that didn't leave me a lot of free time to get out and explore. I glad I made time to eat here as the steak was delicious, the service was friendly, and the prices were reasonable.

Lots of positive reviews but I’m sorry at lunchtime on the Saturday before Xmas the Manor was rubbish. Service was indifferent at best and the pie of the day wasn’t exactly freshly baked on the day. Maybe this is just an evening place but I’d have thought some of the values would have been apparent at lunchtime.

If you can look past the decor and the children scooting around the pub /bar noisily ,then you are in for a treat .

Went for my birthday dinner with family & I was excited to try the Black Rock. It was amazing, I had the steak filet which was the best cut ever! My sister had the lamb which was also delicious. The whole experience was really fun! The dessert selection was to die for. I can’t wait to visit again!

Fab pub that successfully manages a restaurant and the local bar. Staff were really helpful and friendly. Lovely food and only reason it's 4 stars is that for a veggie the only main you have is halloumi which for me is great but I know its not for everyone. Great choice of ales and unfortunately we were too full to have desserts which are cruelly brought to the table to tempt you! Really nice place.

This place has the slowest service ever, but great steak. When you walk in, no one will greet you or ask if you would like a table. You must make your way to the bar, through the locals who are hanging out there.

Myself & my partner shared the platter. Was completely worth it! Would strongly advise not to have a starter if you’re sharing this between 2 as we felt we left quite a bit (was just stuffed!) we didn’t have any of the sea food with it, but instead they added extra steak instead. Would 100% visit again and do intend on doing so in the near future.

Never cooked my food on a hot rock. It was great. Food was great, beer was great, service was great. Great little place with all you could ask for.

We visited this restaurant with friends and three of us chose to cook on the hot stones. It was great fun cooking our own meat which was served with curly fries and salad all of which was well presented. Desserts are available from an irresistible selection.

Over from Perth, Western Australia and my lovely nephew took the family out for dinner at the Black Rock Grill on a Sunday evening with family. The service was very efficient and friendly - all the meals were delivered at the same time. Able to cook my huge piece of fillet steak to perfection on the lava rock. Beautiful piece of meat. Generous side of baby new potatoes and salad. Definitely worth a visit.

What a unique and satisfying eating concept... red hot lava rock for your “cooker” and a big slab of steak and cheese that you grill. Add in a side of veggies and potatoes and you have a wonderful cook-to-your-order meal. Only oddity was that we all ordered the ribeye but got what seemed to be a filet mignon... not an issue as it was really tasty with the grilled cheese and steak mix. With a fresh lager British beer to top it off. Highly recommend this unique place!

I always ensure to stop by this pub when visiting the area, and I am never disappointed. Love the concept of the lava rock, and makes for a wonderful conversation starter. It has a simple menu, great and friendly staff, and a most relaxing atmosphere. I highly recommend it!

Really nice food and as I like a rare steak, which is sometimes hard to find, I was able to cook to my preference Staff were helpful and attentive only negative comment is that an extractor fan would be a great asset when there are a lot of people cooking on their rocks at the same time - it got so smokey it stung my eyes and made a couple of people cough.

This is an old Manor House that converted to a pub some time ago. A good local pub, friendly regulars in the bar and plenty of room in the restaurant side of the pub.

We went for my husbands birthday and I can happily say we will defiantly return! Cooking the steak yourself on the volcanic rock means that every bite was piping hot . I was a bit gutted the chips were skinny fries, not home cooked chunky chips, and likewise for the onion rings, not home prepared. However, value for money I felt was good considering quantity of food and quality of the cut of meat.

Went here for our sons birthday in January not the cheapest but good food. I had lamb on the rock which came on black rock and cooked it to perfection be warned though the rock is very hot. Food doesn’t look much but it does tend to fill you up. Highly recommend.

The food is presented in a very neat manner. Cook your own steak. Interesting and neat, probably wouldn’t go for it again. Not that it was bad but I’m a terrible chef! Staff was super nice and pleasant. Bit pricey overall but worth it.

Went to this bar/restaurant for the black rock steaks and although we had never set foot in the place before, we received a very friendly welcome by members of staff and the locals. The meal was superb, and looking around these were seemingly very popular with all diner's participating with them. I can recommend this restaurant as even if you didn't like steaks, there was plenty to choose from. I shall be going back there in the year and taking some friends who will love it just the same as us.

The food and drinks were lovely and although due to lack of booking we were unable to sit in the restaurant. we were welcome to sit in the bar and enjoy our meal whilst watching the athletics. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would recommend.

Visited here 2 weekends ago with my partner and I'm disappointed with how the place is now runOur food was late coming out - 40 minutes waiting for our starter - to which we were offered drinks on the house to make up for. The food eventually came out and was nice, however the service was a little bizarre. The whole wait for our food there was a young guy, who seemed to be the manager, talking to a couple on another table and taking photos for them whilst the other staff ran about like headless chickens...When we got our main, this same young manager stopped an elderly member of staff right behind our table and gave him a load of abuse - "we aren't even that busy, you need to sort your **** out okay!?" Multiple times over. Whilst I am all for disciplining staff where necessary, this was totally out of order to do and in front of paying customers. Not professional at all. We ate our food, asked for the bill and swiftly left , both left feeling extremely uncomfortable and sorry for the elder member of staff... not sure if we will be returning!

Friends together for a pleasant evening...generously sized portions of meat, and additional amounts of sides. The starters were very tasty (loved the chorizo and prawn skewers). Not the best tasting wines on offer, but hey ho...

I had the Ribeye Steak on the blackrock that was very good my wife and daughter had chicken korma but found it spicier than expected. Service was good but due to the extremely loud background noise conversation was near to impossible. Very busy.

We received a friendly welcome and after ordering from a good selection of drinks at the bar we were shown our table. We ordered the steak that comes out on a volcanic rock heated to 440 degrees!! The meat was beautiful rump cuts & tastes just amazing cooked in small pieces on the rock! The only thing that is a shame is that the chips are not hand cut but frozen out of a bag & the onion rings are ready bought frozen ones & not hand made, with such quality meat the other food just fell short. But all in all we enjoyed the black rock grill experience.

This is a lovely restaurant / pub in a very pretty little village. I really like the idea of cooking your own steak on a hot stone at your table. The only downside to cooking at your table is when everyone else is doing the same the restaurant gets very smokey and it also makes your clothes stink of cooked food. The food itself is lovely. There isnt a wide selection of starters but the main meals and the desert options more than make up for it. Overall it was a good experience, the staff are brilliant, the food was lovely, the price was fair but the only small issue was the smell that was left on your clothes for the rest of the evening

First time I've been out to dinner and cooked it myself! Choose your meat and side dishes and all served up in front of you - the meat is raw and you cook it to your desired taste. We each had two hot stones each which made us all a bit hot!! Food was lovely... if I get to go again I would remove the meat from the hot stone, cut slices on my plate and cook each piece individually - I was a bit rushed as meat was cooking faster than I liked. Could of done with a bit of instruction first! Was a fun evening, food was lovely as we're the staff.

Booked a table for this restaurant that I had heard about. I opted for steak knowing it would be cooked to perfection as I would be watching it. The staff explained how to cook the food to your liking and provided seasoning which added to the flavour. Deserts were brought out on a platter so you could see the choice which was brilliant, I opted for the brownie which was lovely and chocolatey. I would recommend this outlet to friends and family as the food is beautiful and service was very good too.

This was our first visit and it was without doubt the nicest steak we've had. The staff were friendly and couldn't do enough to make you feel welcome.We'll definitely be going back and couldn't recommend it enough.

I was recommended this restaurant by a family member. Service was on point, and the food was incredible. I had the chicken and the others had the steak, and we all had our own personal hot rock plate which we could cook our food exactly how we wanted it. I think it's a wicked idea, great fun and excellent value for money. The Mediterranean vegetables were amazing as well, so full of flavour! They had a great selection of Ales on sale as well. Definitely recommend this to anyone.

Slightly unassuming from the outside, but friendly and welcoming when you walk in. The staff were attentive and friendly. The starter was lovely, the main hot rock fillet was just brilliant. Don't expect frills and pomp this isn't that kind of place. It does steak and does it really really well.

Fantastic steaks in a Lovely pub setting.They had a great menu to choose from, which was clearly explained to us by a friendly young girl as it was our first visit.The steaks were so tender and tasty after being cooked on that hot rock.Would highly recommended and will defiantly be back.

My family &I I went here for lunch.Slightly run down premises, with no music and little atmosphere but my family had really great cook your own steak.The rest of the menu was standard, and reasonably priced, so cant complain but I think you guys are missing a trick. Do the place up, a little music, sort the car park and make it all about the cook yourself steaks! Its a GREAT idea and could be a real money maker. Increase the options (e.g. more than one beef steak) make that the main feature and I think people will come flocking!We has a vegan in the party and they made something for them specially and it was actually really nice. We appreciate it can be nuisance but it wasn't a problem.We also had a really great waitress, she did a grand job considering she was running the whole pub at the time, singlehandedly!Lots of potential, you just need more advertising and re-vamp and it could be FANTASTIC

I came here for a friend's birthday and it was absolutely fantastic. The steak was AMAZING. Even better that you cook it yourself on the hot stone so you can have it exactly the way you want it :) The steak comes with seasoning on the side so you can make it extra tasty. There are also a variety of other foods on the menu if steak is not your thing. The place is always buzzing and has a lovely atmosphere, it was really packed when we arrived. I really really wanted to come back so I have just booked a table of 8 for my dad's birthday next month. I would highly recommend this establishment. P.S things can get very hot inside, dress lightly.

Our Second family visit over the past couple of years and twas just as good as the first. Cook your own food on a superhot black stone so you can have your steak or Duck or Chicken or seafood as rare or as crispy as you like. Service was good and slick with no waiting around. Would recomend and re visit.

A group of visited the Black Rock to celebrate a friends birthday. On arrival at 7.30pm I was stunned to see the bar was packed and the restaurant was buzzing. There was a short wait to get served at the bar as it was really busy. We managed to get a drink within a reasonable time. Once we all had our drinks our order was executed as we had all preordered. The food arrived in good time and there a few Steak orders and I had ordered the fillet steak. The food was all excellent and the Idea of cooking your own food on a hot rock just the way you want it added to the fun. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals and could not wait for the deserts. The deserts were also scrumptious.It was a fantastic evening and a great way to celebrate a birthday. We cant wait for the next visit.

Having been taken to the restaurant as a surprise by my son and daughter-in-law we have since been back and taken friends. We have never tasted meat like it. Top quality steak and as we cook it ourselves it is done to perfection on the hot rock.

After having my step daughter rave about this place for months we finally made a booking here for a Saturday evening! Being steak lovers we had high expectations and without a doubt these were met!!! The waitresses were friendly and helpful, restaurant area was lovely, and the steak was amazing!!! We went for the most expensive option of the fillet steak, on the hot rock grill, which even though it was the highest priced was still reasonable at £23.50. I ordered a side of onion rings, which were definitely not needed but nice all the same. Desserts were nothing to rave about but tasted nice, anyway who goes out for massive steak and has dessert . Overall well worth a visit, looking at booking again already!

Yes! This place was amazing! We had the steak on a hot rock the first night . . . very well seasoned with plentiful veggies. Next, we went back for their chicken sandwich, largest I've ever had, and very tasty! I'd definitely go back to this spot!

This is a great pub which serves 'Hot Rock' meals with excellent quality meat, fish and Halomi cheese. The problem if you take a family is that if some of the family don't want/like the rock option the remainder of the menu is really disappointing. If they extended this it would easily bee good if not excellent.Can get a bit smokey in restaurant when doors/windows are not open

Went for a birthday treat with family. Was recommended so we thought we would give it a try, as we never had a meal with the black Rock before and it didn't disappoint. After the waitress explained the best way to cook your meat after a few minutes we got the hang of it. We all had steak and was top quality. Friendly staff and good food. The only things I would say that was a negative is we ordered halloumi cheese as an extra and if beforehand we knew how much you got on one portion we would of shared between 2, too much. And secondly the table was too small for the 4 of us we struggled to fit everything on the table.Apart from that top class and different. We would all definitely go back.

If you want a hot rock steak by all means go and enjoy yourself. Sometimes there are gluten free fresh rolls that you can have an OK sandwich on. The tap and wine selection are lacking. Great service and steak...but it's not my jam.

This review is long overdue. I've been in the Alconbury area for almost three years and have ate here over a dozen times. I've been for dates with my wife, good bye lunches for coworkers, and large parties at night. They never disappoint.The majority of the food here is cooked by you. It comes out on a volcanic rock heated to 500C and you cook your cut of meat. I usually get the rump steak and Houlimi Cheese. It is to die for. The cheese doesn't melt and kind of has a salty taste. We are hooked on it.If you don't want to cook your food the burgers are pretty good. The atmosphere has always been good. The crowd is always a good mix of locals and the Americans that work at the local base. The drink prices are fair. If I had one knock on the place it would be spending 14-20 quid to cook your own food. But, the cuts of meat are good and you get to cook it the way you like it.This place is a gem. It's unique, fun, and a must if you are in the area.

Ate here as we were staying in the hotel above. It was really busy and we quickly saw why. The black rock style of serving is really unique. I had the steak and halloumi combo which was delicious. Only negative is that there was so much food I was too full to try one of the desserts. However, other members of the family did have dessert and said they were incredible. Would definitely return!

Was at Black Rock with a large group. You cook your steaks on a very hot rock at table. It was very cool. We received very good service and the food was tasty. Good selection of beer and has full bar. Many of the other guests frequent the restaurant often and love it. Will be back again.

I have been here a good few times and had the black rock grill its very good first time was a surprise didn't realise you cook it yourself at the table on a lave rock thats very very hot. Great idea as you always get the meat cooked as you want it. If that doesnt grab you try the chefs home-made burgers they to die for and the chunky chips. Occasionally they have theme nights and bring someone in to cook last year it was Vietnamese wow is all i can say was something id never tried before but well worth it.

Working in Alconbury it is lovely to have somewhere you can go for lunch that does fresh food rather than the boil in a bag stuff you get in so many pubs these days. The sandwiches and baguettes are second to none and worth every penny. I am a vegetarian but there are a few good options. The chips and cheese is great too. It is a huge shame they have stopped their lunch deliveries - I am going to miss the Gazpacho Pasta Salad. If you haven't been here- go and sample the food for yourselves. Service is very good too and staff are flexible and will adapt your food to your choice- nothing is too much trouble. Keep up the good work.

I can't believe how quiet this place was. It was fantastic. I've never been to a restaurant where you cook your own steak off a hot block but what fun. You get a good meal, very good portion size for a decent price. The pub the restaurant is located in is a traditional pub. It would be very pleasant in the Summer. We'll be back.

Booked a large party for a 30th birthday meal, everything lived up to the reviews & expectations! Was excited at the thought of cooking my own steak! Staff were friendly & very accommodating. Pub had a nice buzzy atmosphere. All the food was exceptional! Can't wait to return with other friends & family so they can experience it for themselves!! See you soon!

A nicely located village pub/hotel. Offers various meats to be cooked on a very hot stone and other more traditional fayre. Check their web-site for details but be aware not everything is available at lunch time that is stated there. That said there is a reasonable choice for cooked food, salad and baguettes. All of which are very tasty. Will try the evening sometime to see if full menu available.

Booked a table for 830pm thinking it would of quietened down a bit but every table was still full. Although I suppose that's a good sign?! The food was amazing. The black rock experience is one not to be missed.... You cook your meat in front of you donuts exactly how you want it!!The other half is a veggie but they even had halloumi on the rock so there's something for everybody. They don't do sauces with the meat for obvious reasons which is a shame as I do like my peppercorn sauce, but the staff, food, surroundings all make up for it!!Will certainly be making regular trips here for more!!!

Been searching for a pub/steak house for stalk on Rock for long time,. After reading many positive reviews, we thought we'll give it a try,. I must admit, we're a bit hesitate when we arrived on a Tuesday night, as we found we're the only table here,. The friendly staffs kick off nicely with a sweet smile and polite manner. Food arrived pretty quick, and the presentation is amazing!!! I picked the rump steak with lobster tail while my partner chosen the fillet, all very tasting, the best thing is, we need not worry about the meat temperature as we're cooking the steaks ourselves with the sizzling hot stone!! Absolutely fabulous, definitely the best steak we had for a long long time! The only complaint would be, I already start worrying what else to have tomorrow after eaten such a delicious meal here! （＾_＾）The desserts were equally tasty. I can't wait to revisit this hidden gem again!Well done!!

It's a lovely pub, nice atmosphere... But oh dear oh dear, the steak. Just terrible: tough, obviously not prime quality beef. Such a pity.

It's always a good sign when you go somewhere completely new and it's busy! We arrived on Saturday night to find it full (thankfully we'd reserved a table!). It's lovely inside, homey and welcoming. We all fancied trying the hot rock, and considering it was so busy, we didn't have too long a wait for our food. I had the halloumi, but the rest of our group had steaks which were huge and of amazing quality so I'm told! We watched the burger go past to the table next to us and I can honestly say it's the biggest, nicest looking burger I've ever seen! We were offered desserts and I was very impressed to see the choices are presented in actual form, so you can see what they look like and get a feel for how big they are. We went from not wanting puddings to 3 of us having them as they looked so nice! We weren't rushed out the door and it was reasonably priced for the sheer volume of food. We'll definitely be coming back!

Came here start of December. Lovely village pub with a quiet area to have dinner. Had a huge steak and it was one of the best I've ever tasted. And it was huge for what I paid for. Had some curly fries on the side. I've been to a steak house before where you cooked your own steak but it wasn't as good as this place. Had chilli squid for starters and for some crazy reason was able to squeeze in a dessert! Really is worth a visit. Looking forward to going back!!

Great food, great experience! The steaks are simply the best...and served on a piping hot rock that you use to cook your own marinated steak. Relaxed ambiance and friendly service. Hard to beat! :-)
