We have just returned from a delicious lunch at the Saddle. The staff were very friendly and the food was delicious. We had fish and chips and steak and chips. The fish was delicious lovely crispy batter and the steak was very well cooked. The chips were also delicious. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. It was not busy which is a shame as the pub offered real value for money in a friendly environment. We will certainly return. Thank you .

Whilst we were on a club rally, it was decided to find somewhere close to where we were camping for a Saturday evening meal. We’d travelled through the village before and on a whim decided to pop in. First I went to the pub a few doors down. I walked all through, looked at a menu and walked out. Not even approached! I went into The Saddle. I was warmly greeted by Kim and asked if they could accommodate booking of 10+ for Saturday. She checked and all was good. My husband was outside and she let me take a menu out to the car. I made a provisional booking and left - with the menu. When we arrived at 7pm for our 730pm slot we were warmly greeted again by Kim and also Rhian. There were 10 of us and our orders varied. The steak was cooked perfectly to everyone’s liking, the hunter’s chicken was a massive meal, the chips lovely. 8 had dessert and all agreed it was a great night. Mark (Chef) was very hospitable and nothing was too much trouble. Also worth noting that the drinks were very reasonably priced too. All in all a wonderful meal, with wonderful staff. There’s also a very sweet beer garden at the back. Well done team….if we visit again we’ll call you. THANK YOU .

Enjoyed a really good Sunday dinner. Choice of Turkey, pork or beef with all the trimmings, root veg. Roasties, greens at a very good price. So much on the plate couldn’t finish it! The gravy too was lovely. Finished off with a pint of lovely ale. Nice time! Thanks Kim and Mark. Recommended for Sunday dinner.

I don’t know if it’s the fact it’s now the only pub open in Kimbolton and people feel obliged to give higher than a one star but my experience was awful. Greeted by a miserable person on the bar (actually not greeted but stood there as miserable as can be) who stated they were very short staffed which was odd as they had actively advertised the venue for a Mother’s Day meal. Told to order drinks at bar and to sit down, table was right next to kitchen and we could hear all the shouting going on and they constantly walked behind me. When owner came to take order she wasn’t particularly friendly. When food arrived it was absolutely crap and one of my family members couldn’t touch their food as it was so bad . We were charged £13:99 for a plate of vegetables as no discount was applied due to the fact the meat was absent and when I say meat I mean the microwaved chicken slices which tasted so fake (I thought we were having real chicken). Didn’t stay for desert as I felt enough money was wasted.

This family-run pub is great, with good value tasty pub grub. The roast dinner came with a huge variety of vegetables, roast spuds and a massive Yorkshire pudding and I couldn't believe the size of the half chicken! The staff were lovely, particularly with the children in the party, even rustling up an impromptu bib for the three-year old when we forgot to pack one! Will definitely be back.

As soon as we contacted them via Facebook to ask if the dogs were allowed we received a quick response to say yes! We were welcomed by Kim (Kim from Kimbolton!) and Sophie who could not have been more helpful and accommodating. Thank you for a fantastic evening. Teddy and Betty loved their treats 🐻🐶❤️

We went for a Sunday drive and decided to pass through pretty Kimbolton and on to Graham Water. As it was after midday, we decided we should look for somewhere to stop for lunch and came upon The Saddle. We were so glad we did because it’s a little gem! With a delightful homely atmosphere and food to match, this made for a perfect Sunday lunch pit stop. Two of us ordered a roast dinner, one ordered salmon en papiotte and one a vegetarian option of Mediterranean tart. My roast beef dish was one of the best roasts I’ve ever eaten; the flavours (of everything) were absolutely amazing! Everything was beautifully cooked and there was plenty of it (too much to manage)! We had an array of accompanying vegetables - from potatoes (roasted and mashed); cabbage; swede; roasted parsnip; carrots (roasted and boiled) and cauliflower cheese, also a huge Yorkshire pudding and a gorgeous gravy with the roasts. It’s not cheap, but you certainly get what you pay for.Wow, what beautiful meals. Our only disappointment was that we couldn’t eat it all! Delicious. Thank you.

We were passing and decided to stop at the Saddle to have some lunch. We ordered mac and cheese for our 11 month old daughter to come out at the same time as our starters. When it came out my husband was spooned some pasta onto her tray which she happily ate. He spooned some more only to find a shard of sharp clear plastic in her food. I hate to think what would of happened if she put that in her mouth. I complained to the waitress and she apologised and went to tell the kitchen staff. She came back and said someone most of dropped the plastic container it was kept in. Her meal was taken off our bill but after that I didn’t really want to eat mine. I hope that container of Mac and cheese was binned and they haven’t carried on serving it to other children!! Won’t return.

We were at a local's funeral in the church at the end of the high street and wanted to give the immediate family time to get back to the house , so a group of 8 cousins (&partners) wanted just Tea at 3.40 They welcomed us in , even though we were not there for drinks / food but even turned down the television to make it easier for us to talk about our cousin & his funeral . They really could not have been friendlier or kinder . Other people were eating there and the young bar lady even said dogs are welcome !! HOW THOUGHTFUL !! I look forward to returning to meet up with family there again - preferably without a funeral attached !

We were looking for somewhere different for a birthday meal for my husband, found The Saddle. We were welcomed by staff who were friendly and professional. The service we received was excellent. the food was out of this world and there was a good choice, although limited, all needs were catered for. The food was cooked fresh and came out piping hot. we did not have to wait for a table, drink order or food. I had the pie of the day - Chicken, ham and leek in a creamy sauce, all I can say is wow, the pastry melted in the mouth and the filling was superb. My husband had the fish and chips again wow, the chips were proper chips, crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle yum. the fish was a good size. My son in law had scampi again cooked to perfection and my daughter had the duck once again perfect. All our plates were scraped clean and not a crumb remained. The portions were just the right size.Only my daughter and myself had dessert, (the men were too full and couldn't manage anything else) apple crumble and custard - delicious, waffle and ice cream for the other dessert - again perfection. Price wise very reasonable, including drinks (a bottle of wine, beer/lager and whisky's) the cost was approx. £20 per head. All in all very good value for money, will definitely be returning again and again, think it will become our regular place to eat now.

Please read to the end otherwise you may get the wrong idea!!Went to The Saddle on Remembrance Sunday for a family lunch after watching the Kimbolton School CCF parade - thoroughly recommended. On the day we were there the staff were very young and lacked experience. Its not that they were incompetent, had a bit of an attitude, were sloppy or miserable, they just needed a bit more experience which in turn would make them a bit more polished - they'll get there without a doubt. In truth they made a fair job of running the pub and restaurant - they just needed a bit more polish! Nothing was too much trouble - we were supposed to be 9 but only 7 turned up on the day and one of those was a 6 year old who shared a plate with her gran - that wasn't a problem for the staff. Of late I have noticed that some restaurants have taken to saying they do not allow children to share an adults plate. We had taken along some birthday cake - 2 birthdays in the group - I did phone them in advance to make sure it was ok. They were happy to bring the cake out. I felt bad about effectively taking our own dessert into the pub but mitigated this by having a 'round' of teas and coffees. However, what was the food like I hear you ask?I had the slow roast beef cooked rare and I have to say it was an exceptionally good piece of beef, 2 thick slices which were just the right amount. Others had the roast lamb or the steak and ale pie and again the portions were generous. The roasts were all cooked pink and if you wanted yours well done - yes I know, sacrilege, not a problem. The steak and ale pie was exceptional, nice crisp short crust pastry case with tender chunks of steak inside. The gravy served with the roast was superb - I am a bit of a gravy fan ;o) and to be honest I would have been happy with some big chunks of crusty bread and a jug of their gravy! Can't comment on the starters or desserts as we didn't have any.Would I go there for Sunday lunch again - absolutely I would. The food was good and the staff will learn quickly - we all have to start somewhere. Would I go in on a weekday to see what they have on offer, certainly I would given half a chance.

I opted for the pheasant which I have to say is one of the tastiest meals I have had and the price was very fair for such fine food. For dessert I had a waffle with home made ice cream, marshmallow, brandy and chocolate chip.....whats not to like? That too was delicious. I hope to return soon as I was informed that the chefs work towards a constantly changing menu and I wish to try some more of this fine food. The locals all seemed to be having fun in the bar area and I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Kimbolton. Its just a shame that I don't live in Kimbolton otherwise this would without a doubt be my local!! Give it a try, you wont be disappointed.

A pleasant surprise. Have visited 3 times and each opportunity has provided different food options. Nice creative chef, and I look forward to returning. Enjoyed the lamb twice now!!Only small frustration was the frosty atmosphere from the locals around the bar. But, to be honest I came for the food so this was

Since Rob and Freddie have run the saddle it has been the best I have known it. With fantastic food (naughty but nice portions) and brilliant staff members! Special mention to Jack who was working the other night, his service was fantastic.I will certainly be visiting again soon with friends and family!

Visited here Saturday lunch time early in December. A small but clean pub spaced out nicely with a stove fire, soft seating and a dining area towards the rear. The menu boasted a fine selection of "Pie & Mash" dishes where upon I opted for a Steak & Rioja pie which was delicious and it had the "handmade" look, definitely not the "pukka pie" machine made look. Well worth the visit and would visit again.

I've eaten here quite often now (at lunch time) and have not once been disappointed. It is a very friendly place with a lovely atmosphere. The food is of excellent quality, beautifully presented and the service is very good indeed. There are two sections to this very well laid out pub/restaurant - a bar area at one end, complete with open fire & a large TV screen. I'm not normally one for pubs with TVs but it's very tastefully done & once you're in the restaurant section, it does not interfere whatsoever with the dining experience. Yesterday, I had the most delicious meal to date - slow cooked beef with roasted root vegetables. It was absolutely divine! A must try - you won't be disappointed...

This was an amazing find as only popped in for a drink but the Sunday lunch looked and smelt amazing. Had the lamb which was served with a delicious cauliflower cheese plus many other delicious veggies. Was a very very tasty meal and probably the best roast ever. Give it a try - you won't regret it x

Pleasant lunch mainly sandwiches and Tapas for an outside lunch in the sum. Club sandwich was delicious and good value. service a little slow as the poor waiter seemed to be on his own, serving at the bar, serving food, running to and from the kitchen but he managed and there was 10 of us!

The menu here needs to have a make over it is trying yo be up market but without substance. If they put more choice on their menu and a few salad and lighter bites I would return.

It was a very nice pub with lovely staff and decor. Unfortunately there was a severe lack of food suitable for vegeterians. I just ate chips, i found this dissapointing from a pub, which in other areas, was great. Thank you - Dodir

Was travelling through Kimbolton and chose to visit the saddle and we definatley chose right. Upon entering we were welcomed warmly by the staff on the bar and with smiles from the locals in the bar area (not something we get in London very often). My partner and I decided to eat in the restaurant when given the option of restaurant or bar. Both had straight Sunday lunch and it was amazing. good portions and excellent quality. by chance we saw what was described to us by the waitress as a bar roast. which I can only describe as the biggest Yorkshire pudding I have seen filled will al the Sunday roast trimmings (looked amazing). If we come back again that's what I will be having. excellent service and food. yummy!

We stumbled across this pub, whilst looking for a quick meal in a new area. We are Australians, had driven to the area to stay with friends. We ordered club sandwiches, believing they we would be of a small portion, as we knew we were dining out that evening. Our sandwiches arrived. Huge portions, beautifully presented and tasted exquisite! All for 8.95 each. Priceless! One of the best meals we had in our three week UK stay. The chap behind the bar was very pleasant, the pub extremely clean. Returned the next day for lunch again with family. Another super well priced meal. Hope to dine there on our next visit to the UK. Thankyou!!

Visited tonight prior to going to the Mandeville hall cinema night. Staff lovely. 3 of us had the fish and chips 1 had the pie which looked lovely. Fish and chips very good and obviously home made. Only criticism it was a bit noisy from drinkers in the bar. Can't really do anything about this it is what it is and nice to see the pub busy with locals. Maybe we should have been offered the other room rather than a table in the bar as we were the only people eating so it was empty in the adjoining room. Great for a quick bar meal but maybe not for a quiet romantic meal or some where to have a dinner and linger over the experience. Would go again for a quick bar meal but not a restaurant to go out to with friends for the evening but trying hard and food we had was very good.

Our family of 4 went for a birthday meal in the week and we experienced tasty food with a variety of drinks. The landlady was attentive and friendly and accommodating to our needs and it was great value for money. Thank you, we will be returning soon.
