The White Coffee house in Tendring

Totally wasted trip - supposedly open to 4 pm but closed and no sign of life just after 3pm. On a previous attempt to visit they closed early as “not busy” Not the way to treat customers- at least get published hours updated and maintained. Costs of driving to Dovercourt and parking wasted.

Come to enjoy the coffee, hand-made cakes, and best ever cheese scones. Friendly service. Dog-walkers can sit outside and enjoy the sunshine. Wonderful coffee is 100% gluten free (but no other gluten free options). A local gem!

We are very lucky to have this amazing coffee shop in Dovercourt. The coffee is top notch and the pastries and cakes are as good as any you will find in Mayfair. Front of house chap is a real gent. Absolutely five star experience with great pricing. I’ve been twice now. Smashing home cooked sausage roll was the star of the show!

Myself and 2 friends visited on Thursday, one of the friends was a regular customer who had recommended us to visit the White Room!from the moment we arrived there was the most welcome atmosphere from the lovely gentleman who runs the coffee house! I had a salad which was beautifully fresh and so well presented and the cakes and desserts we had were absolutely gorgeous,soo professionally made, better than I have had in expensive patisseries in the past! My thanks to Cora who made all these beautiful treats! I would 100% recommend this little hidden gem for anyone looking for high quality food and a totally welcoming place to meet up or enjoy it on your own! Looking forward to my next visit! ❤

We went to Harwich on a day trip with our little dog Gracie. We sat outside and found the cafe Warm and welcoming. There is a good choice of food and cakes. We had excellent meals and can highly recommend both the baked potatoes and the sausage bacon and cheese toasty. There was a large cake selection and we stayed on for coffee/hot chocolate and cakes. The service was quick and cheerful. We would highly recommend it and would certainly come back.

Very MEAN, ARROGANT AND disrespectful lady-owner. False people pretending to be a pet-friendly coffee shop, but definitely not. I would never ever buy again from such a vicious business.

Cakes here are high end Mayfair standard, we are very lucky to have them in Harwich, limited menu but everything they do is good quality and generous, very clean, the staff are the cherry on the top.

We weren’t expecting such good coffee when we popped in while visiting the town recently. Our cheese scone was lovely too, and big enough to share. Shame we live so far away or we would be regulars!

We visited The White House whilst staying in the area with friends. We were doing a walk and just happened to find it whilst needing a coffee. The owner was very friendly and the coffees were excellent (one of the best cappuccinos ever!) There was a great selection of pastries/cakes to choose from and they all looked delicious. We opted for the scones which were "top notch". We will definitely return.

Have visited this coffee house loads of times and have always enjoyed the food and coffee. So decided to book an afternoon tea when we were in Tier 2. It was exceptional the sandwiches and cakes were out of this world and have never seen so much food and had to take some home. Lovely place to visit when out of lockdown. They are doing takeaway at the moment I believe.

If your in Harwich you need to visit the White House coffee shop. You will not be disappointed I promise. I have been going there for years now and the owner is still as friendly and welcoming as day one. Very clean, gorgeous food, cakes to die for and all in all lovely atmosphere. I’m so blessed to have these on my door step ❤️

Dovercourt, let's be honest, is a little short of sustained kerb appeal once you step back from the beach - but the dull High Street area is lifted by this popular eaterie and we enjoyed a couple of outdoor coffees after an amiable chat at the counter. What marked the visit, though, was the intriguing offer of a toasted cheese, bacon and sausage sandwich which reached out to me. You need lots of cheese and good quality meat ingredients to make this work, but all these were there in abundance and it proved to be a real winner - first time I've come across it and it was a real winner.

Normally I have enjoyed visiting the White Coffee House - However, called there with my daughter and 2 grandchildren (plus a dog) yesterday - the outside seats were quite wet. I had gone in to order the drinks and cakes, and my daughter came in asking for some napkins to wipe the seats. He said he would provide some later and as she walked out he said 'Well it has been raining'! Today my daughter, grandson and myself wanted to wait there with a drink, whilst granddaughter was having her nails done across the road. My daughter had a can of Pepsi and I had an Apple Fruit Shoot. We had to ask for glasses to put the drinks in! He put one on the counter, so we had to ask for a second one. We then asked if we could have a bowl of water for the dog, and was told 'we don't do bowls'! Don't think I'll call there again!

Popped down to Harwich for a bite to eat, and headed straight here after we missed it last time. Food very fresh - recommend the hot sausage or prawn and crayfish sandwiches, followed by the biggest jam and cream scone I have ever seen! I opted for 3 mini cakes from the selection of 6 available - and they were still very filling! My husband said the tea was a nice brew, and my coffee was strong and tasty without being bitter. And change from £20! We sat in the sun, but there are plenty of tables inside too.

The best afternoon tea I have ever had. Make sure your hungry. This was an amazing experience. The quality is excellent and the quantity is more than enough. A very good mix of savoury and sweet and as much tea as you can drink. Very highly recommended.

We called in here one afternoon to have a cup of coffee. What a find!There was not so much left as it was late in the afternoon, but the homemade cakes (made by the owner's wife who also teaches cake making) were to die for.The owner and his friend who is the chef in the kitchen were great characters to talk to and have a laugh with while we enjoyed the late afternoon sun, the scrumptious cakes and the great hot chocolates

On a recent day out to the coast we were looking for a coffee & cake stop & found The White Coffee House in Dovercourt.On entering The White Coffee House we were greeted by the proprietor & an amazing array of delicious homemade cakes.We ordered lattes, a lemon meringue cheesecake, & a raspberry cheesecake.The portions were generous & the cheesecakes were delicious.Whilst we were in The White Coffee House we could hear the proprietor interacting with his customers. As with us, he was extremely engaging & entertaining.In these days of coffee chains, it's refreshing to find an independent of this quality.They had a varied savoury & sweet menu, which represented excellent value for money.It's a shame that it would be a 200 mile round trip to go back, and we would highly recommend The White Coffee House.

We visited the coffe house during the summer, first thing in the morning to have breakfast. Everybody in the family had toast which was filling and delicious! The staff was personal in a Good way.

Visited whilst on holiday. A lovely little tearoom with fantastic cakes. I've had afternoon tea at the Ritz and the cakes at The White Coffee House are better. Raspberry and white chocolate cheesecake and strawberry pavlova were fresh and really tasty. Very reasonably priced, cakes are worth a lot more than they charge. Highly recommended, definitely worth visiting. If I was local this would be my regular.

Very friendly, the locals join in the banter, the chap working there is a past master at front of house. A local made sure we had a table. The cake was delish, and the coffee just right & very welcome after getting blown to smithereens on the seafront

Food is always freshly prepared and lovely and the cakes all made freshly on premises are amazing, you have to try them to believe them. Stunning.

Really used to like this place & highly recommended it to others but very disappointed today, took a friend who is gluten free to have their breakfast. She was made to feel like it was her fault she was intolerant & that they couldn’t cater for her. We suggested doing the salmon & scrambled eggs without any crumpets/toast etc. The Waitress had to check it out & was told to make sure she still pays full price for it even though she wasn’t getting the full amount. The waitress was really lovely & very apologetic for the attitude coming out of the kitchen & we couldn’t fault her (apart from then accidentally also getting my poor friend’s drink wrong- but I think she was flustered at the point!). The portions were smaller than we’d had before but was still nice however the attitude towards people with genuine dietary restrictions was embarrassing. She didn’t choose to be be gluten intolerant & fine if you can’t cater for her (most places do in this day & age- it’s not hard to keep a loaf of gluten free in the freezer) but at least be nice with the attitude & knock a little off for serving two thirds of a meal. I’m hoping the normal friendly man is just on holiday, if not I will not be returning & reccomend anyone with dietary requirements to avoid the embarrassment. 5 stars to the waitress though!!

Visited Harwich and found this Lovely and friendly Coffee shop. I had Pecan And Maple Tart I was surprised with the taste it was an incredible taste. I bought some to take home with me.

Second time we have visited this wonderful coffee shop. Coffee is great, cakes are so pristine they don't look real. The great thing is they taste as good as they look. The prices of cakes and cheesecake is so good they could easily charge twice as much.I really hope this little oasis of refreshment is appreciated in the community, if not they don't know how lucky they are to ha e this priceless gem on their doorstep

I would go here for the cakes/desserts alone, they look so beautiful and they taste sooo good! The sandwiches were good and well presented and my husband's ploughmans was nearly more than he could eat. The decor is good and the staff very pleasant. The prices are very reasonable too. So glad we found this little gem.

My husband and I decided to try the White Coffee House for Lunch, the food was lovely I had a sandwich and my husband had scrambled eggs with salmon on toast we was more than happy with the quality of the food.

My work colleague and I happened upon this quaint little cafe as we had some time to spare before our train and fancied a cuppa. This was the first place we found and it did not disappoint! The variety of cakes looked delicious and I had a hard time choosing just one! It was lovely and reasonably priced. The staff were also very nice and friendly! If we are ever in the area again we will definitely come back for another visit.

Great coffee and lush cakes, had a toasted sandwich and my wife had jacket potato very good always try and get there at least once a month, can have a bit of banter with the barrister all good fun.

My mum had passed this place a few times and always wanted to go in. So when we got the chance, we weren’t disappointed. The service was was great, very friendly atmosphere and the place was immaculate. All the cakes are home made and they all looked amazing. We had a fruit scone and jam and the scone was so tasty. Lovely and moist and big in size. It’s very reasonably priced too. Would definitely recommend a visit!!

The white coffee house has just opened a take away on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, The food is to die for, The wrap I had came with Roast potatoes, I understand that you can now sit in and eat. This is something really different. Good on the White Coffee House or shall I say Porkys of an evening.

My daughters and I visited this coffee shop a few times over the summer and every time the selection of home made cakes was amazing and made it difficult to chose. There were a selection of mini cakes which we had once which meant we could try a few of the cakes in one sitting :)

Nice place friendly staff we had coffee but the hot food looked nice after seeing the cakes we had to have one they do not disappoint amazing and vary reasonably in price was hard to choose as they all looked so nice definitely worth popping in if you come across it .....

Esta la cafetería más increíbles. El personal es amable. Bueno es fresca y abundante y las tartas son increíbles. Salchichas con cebolla roja caremalised eran lo mismo: té y café con leche, y el más increíble choux pastelería tarta de crema de 15 libras estaba bajo! No puedo recomendarlo lo suficiente.

Me paré aquí para conseguir tartas para una tarde de café y el cáncer macmillan estaba tan contenta de haberlo hecho. Los macarons eran deliciosos y me di el gustazo de un bollo delicioso queso para el almuerzo. Encantador.

Where do I choose to go? The greasy spoon lookalike 'Station Cafe' or the smart classy looking 'White Coffee House'. It's obvious isn't it? Friendly service as soon as you walk in, professional and courteous staff. Coffee was amazing, best I have had in a while. Food, well never seen it presented in such a wonderful way. Cakes, don't get me started on those. They are just out of this world, the portions are enormous and the taste and texture is just awesome. No wonder why this little establishment in a small town has such a high reputation. Even caters and provides a service for disabled persons and children. Cannot speak highly enough and this was just my first visit with many more to come.

This is my regular coffee (and cake!) place. Harwich is lucky to have such an excellent family owned/run business. It can be busy at times but that's a good sign. Handy place to grab a coffee if you're heading for a train.

Getting a little pricey at times, but food is lovely and nice atmosphere. Cake to suit most tastes, but hard decision as all so tempting.

This would have been 5 blobs but the barista did not know anything about the coffee they were serving. To be fair he was quite young but he didn't even offer to find out.Having got that off my chest, the coffee was actually quite nice a mild arabica with subtle undertones and a nice aroma.However, the most fulsome praise goes to the cakes. They were large and generous and incredibly delicious. I am not sure if they were home made but they were tasty and messy - what I look for in a cake.Apart from the knowledge of the barista, the service was attentive and fast and friendly and I will be back. . . . .

Have been here a few times for coffee which is always excellent, nicer than Costa and cheaper too. Hot chocolate is also pretty good, I had mine take away so hard to have it how I like it (lots of cream and marshmallows) but still good. I haven't had much from the menu but it all looks delicious and the sandwiches look well filled!Anyway, I have now had the lumpy bumpy cake and Oh My God, it's ruddy marvellous! Filling, chocolatey, beautiful!! Better than any other cake I've had locally. Worth stopping in for alone!!!

We ate the banana caramel Paris brests, they are amazing, so tasty. All the cakes are special and yummy and the hot choc is great too.

After a early boat trip to Harwich we needed a coffee desparetly and we got that at The Little White Coffee House and even more! Very friendy service and great food! Loved it! Will visit again for sure!!!

I don't like Starbucks or Costa, they're too, well, urban ... and that maybe partly explains why I like Harwich, which is, let's face it, a little old fashioned. It's escaped much of the awful development that has blighted other towns .. that has it's drawbacks, but it does mean that places such as The White Coffee House can be found there.Off the train at Dovercourt and it is but a minute or so's walk to The White Coffee House, a couple of lattes and a shared tea cake provide the refreshment needed after the journey down from London. It is now a regular stopping off point of ours; the staff are helpful and friendly, the establishment clean, service good, and outside seating in spots that catch the late morning sunshine.It doesn't do large meals, and is not licensed; as far as I know, it only opens through the day (no evening meals). I don't know (or care, I'm afraid) whether it has free wifi (I go to coffee shops for coffee, not to bury my head in a b computer). However, for a snack or light lunch it is our undoubted favourite place in Harwich, and I thoroughly recommend it.

The cakes are delicious ! Homemade, some of which are quite unusual, and generous portions. I couldn't finish my Lumpy Bumpy cake but was determined not to leave it and took the remainder home. The coffee was good too. Excellent value !(The address is misleading as the coffee shop is actually in nearby Dovercourt.)

I meet up with a pal frequently at this coffee shop. Its cosy and the coffee is lovely. A pleasant place to be.

I visited this coffee shop while on holiday with my family. We couldnt fault this coffee shop. Its very clean and comfortable. The double front door and flat floor mean its easily accessible for pushchairs people whose mobility is impaired. We had coffee, hot chocolate and cakes. The drinks were great quality in decent cups/mugs. The cakes were just heavenly and large, i couldnt finish my 'Lumpy Bumpy' cake. The cakes are of a superior quality and size to other coffee shops but at a very reasonable price. The White House coffee shop also does a wide range of sandwiches and snacks.The best coffee shop in England? Definitly gets my vote!!

The cakes are huge and very tasty. Visited many times and never been disappointed. Usually we have a sandwich or a baguette type of lunch and always freshly made. Tasty!!!

Right in the centre of Dovercourt the cakes are made from scratch on the premises and they are big. The fairies around Dovercourt must be big to eat these fairy cakes. They taste sensational too! Good range of savoury dishes and good coffee make this place worth a visit

This place is my Friday treat out with my parents! They come all the way from maldon just for the cakes and coffee :) we all love this place! The staff the food! when you see the cakes it's extremely hard to fight temptation they are amazing! They look and taste out of this world! the relaxing atmosphere is excellent! Highly recommended!
