We won't be visiting this cafe again. The two staff couldn't cope with the number of people. We were made to feel like an inconvenience, we were lucky to get drinks and after trying to get the waiters attention a couple of time to order food. We gave up, left the money for the drinks on the table and left hungry. We found a lovely little cafe in Dedham instead.

Food is OK, just not very imaginative or refined which given the amount of time it’s been on the menu you would have expected them to achieve by now. Lovely inside, as long as you can get up the steep steps, which if you can you’ll be rewarded with a virtually uninterrupted view of the river.

Lovely place to have tea n cake. Views out onto The Stour are exquisite. Unfortunately because it is situated in an old quayside building, there's no outside seating.. Although there's only a few steps up into the building they are quite steep. But all in all a pleasant place.

I don’t make it here often, but it’s always warm, welcoming, and friendly when I do. The staff all have quietly funny and friendly personalities, and there’s a few good locations to tuck yourself away if you would find it tricky to be surrounded by people on all sides. It’s so lovely to have a gorgeous nook for a catch up, or somewhere to relax with a brew. Dog friendly too ❤️

Popped in for a coffee the guy working said he would be with us in a minute, we sat down, time passed and we were just left sitting there waiting whilst more people just came in whilst the guy dealt with anyone that went to the counter, anyone but us No one once said hey sorry we are really busy we will get to you when we can. 15mins passed and still no contact no apologies for delay no nothing, we felt like spare parts tbh, in the end we got up and left, saying to the guy, we are gonna go, he just said OK, no apologies no nothing it was really uncomfortable actually, appreciate they were busy, but just don't think it was handled very nicely, I've been in before when they first opened and it was fine but this time, was not good, spent a long time working in hospitality, and making eye contact with a customer or nipping over to them even if you can't take the order straight away, say I.ll be with u soon to show they are not forgotten actually will make someone stick around, don't suppose my little review will make any difference, as rightfully so(it's a nice place) they have good reviews, but hey guys maybe just be aware that sofa tucked round the corner needs pulling into the room a bit more so it's not forgotten about

So glad we discovered this place! What a beautiful little discovery….having moved to Mistley/Manningtree recently, we visited this cutesy coffee shop. Lovely ambience with a gorgeous view of the River Stour. We both had flavourful cappuccino’s, hubby had a toasted teacake and I had a slice of gluten free carrot cake that was moist and delicious. The team were all charming and friendly. Well done. I'm so sorry, I hate to drop off a star 🌟 but it's only because in full transparency we DID have to wait 45mins just for slices of cake and my daughters pastry we had to ask for 3 times & then it only came when we were ready to leave, so we had to take it away with us. The lattes, cappuccino & hot chocolate were all well made & tasty, great coffee. The cakes were absolutely delicious though - homemade & moist ! A good selection too. We also had such tasty large cheese scones that I could eat every day ! A really unusual place with bags of history & old world charm & character where you will be taken away by the view of the river Stour. The old overlap timber cafe is raised up steep steps high overlooking the water through it's large windows. Lovely friendly, welcoming , warm staff that even brought water AND biscuits over to both our dogs ! They were very grateful , thank you 🙏 And thank for welcoming them and us. I honestly can't wait to come back for more treats for us all. A 'MUST visit' !!

Popped in on a cold day in February and unfortunately the cafe was not much warmer. Had to keep my coat on to keep warm! Good selection of cakes and pastries etc, and the service was friendly and welcoming. However, my main gripe is that of the coffee. Whilst very nice tasting, it was served up in a small tea cup (only one size available according to the menu) Most cafe's these days offer either a small or large. If I had ordered another cup it would have cost me over £5.00 !!!

Had a shocking experience on 5th Feb, so disappointed. Arrived at 12.30, took a while for our order to be taken, took even longer for our drinks to come and then only one arrived, we had to ask for the other which we could see behind the counter. We waited patiently for our food which was only a toastie and a sandwich... 45 minutes later we were asked 'can I couple check your food order' repeated our order to then be sold 'sorry about that' so assumed out order had been lost. An hour since we arrive our food come out, my toasty came out as a sandwich which after waiting an hour and ordering twice I sent it back to be toasted. Just a frustrating visit, staff seemed clueless as to what was going on and most customers seemed to be waiting for service or orders. Won't be returning unfortunately

I haven't visited this coffee shop for many years but was pleasantly surprised by the new layout and cosy ambience, not forgetting the fantastic view of the Stour. Rather cleverly, it seemed bigger and brighter than I remember. My friend and I were seated quickly at a lovely window table and weren't hassled when we were chatting too much to order straight away. When I eventually ordered 'off menu' they calmy rose to the challenge producing a delicious sandwich with all the trimmings. My friend's panini was equally tasty and well presented. Thank you for a great experience we will definitely visit again soon and eagerly await the new menu.

I really want to like this place because the site and view are so lovely. But the menu is very limited and somewhat uninspiring. Drinks and cakes are nice enough but broader menu needs to be upgraded. Would have spent more if food options were better - came in for lunch and ended up just having a drink. And in the time we were here 3 groups sat down and then left without ordering.
