The best restaurants in East of England

Was I little disappointed with the food, as I’d heard good things about this place. I was impressed with the service, the staff were very friendly and helpful. I had turbot , it was a little under cooked and the skin was soggy and greasy. We shared potatoes and leeks, which were good. We also ordered a beetroot and goats cheese side, which was so salty, I couldn’t eat it. Panna cotta for dessert but it was a little lacking in flavour and the granola pieces on the plate, didn’t really go with it. The bread that we ordered was very nice and the cocktail was good. I consider myself an average cook but feel I could have cooked the fish better than that and at £28 just for the fish, it should have been better.

My family went for an afternoon tea to celebrate a 90th Birthday. We were very disappointed with the sandwich fillings which were very cheap, no prawn or smoked salmon just egg, tuna, sundried tomato and ham & cheese. Very expensive for the amount of money we paid. Also we were giving one pot of tea each which wasn’t re filled until we eventually see someone and had to ask. This was the worst experience of an afternoon tea. Waste of money and we should have gone somewhere else.

Been going here for some years, but our last visit was days before it closed for good. Will miss it. Was always good food and super value.

This is easily the best coffee in Leigh on sea! It’s a shame that only bad reviewers add comments. The staff are all lovely. It’s brilliant to have independent shops in Leigh and we should make the most of it. I find the owner perfectly fun and friendly along with the rest of the staff. They know their coffee and have a good range of fresh homemade salads. ☕️ ❤️

Fabulous fish and chips delicious and fresh

We went as a party of six on recommendation that the food was excellent. We waited an hour and half to get some food with no apolgy as there were large parties being served in the other dining room. The food I am afraid was very poor.i had the salmon en croute with probably the smallest piece of salmon in it ever and the skin had been left on the fish. Mu husband had a steak which he said was tough and the chips looked refried. This venue was recommended to us so we can only hope it was an unfortunate evening for us but it would have been nice to have some acceptance at least of the long wait for our food only for it to be delivered at a poor quality. There are lots of positive reviews so hope we were just unlucky. However it will make a. Return visit not very likely.

Regularly visit The Seaview Cafe during seasonal opening hours for its good quality and fair prices. During winter visit to dog walk. On visiting today, 22nd November found their new coffee van on the car park. Their normal high quality and fair prices, tasty toasties, cakes and selection of hot drinks. Sadly no bacon sandwiches, the best on the coast, but toasties really delicious. They are there Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays. Certainly recommend a visit after a brisk cliff walk.

It started with a guy doing balloons in the car outside and ended with a drug deal in the middle of the road as we were pulling away. Not the restaurants fault to be fair but it gives you the idea of what a sh*t hole the area is. Now the food. Carbonara was bland , beef rags over cooked and dry and pizza was average but a bit light on toppings. 1 st impressions was to leave wish we had. It was recommended by a guy I play football with. DC thanks mate it’s a carsey ! Never give me a recommendation again please.

The food was nice but nothing special considering the price.....atmosphere? Only two tables dining and we were one of them......considering they weren't busy the service was awful....the waitress was abrupt and unhelpful when asked questions regarding the menu,never meal checked us,and took my plate without asking if we were all finished....just assumed that because two of the diner's at my table had finished it was ok to throw a dirty napkin on my plate and go to remove it....I told her I hadn't finished and she claimed to have asked us first.....then asked me if I wanted the plate back,not sure if that included the napkin lol.....I wouldn't go back nor recommend

Food is always so good. Quality is great. Food can take a little long however if you time well it won’t feel like a long wait time. Definitely best in tilbury, highly recommend

Asked server if I could swap the rice for chips, was told by her I wanted extra chips, explained 3 times then she called another server over and said I wanted a curry I said I didn’t want chips and same again, cancelled order and was asked if I wanted the curry still very poor service won’t be eating here again

Wonderful Christmas concert, some of the best brass musicians in the country. Thank you again for this annual extravaganza.

My late Aunt's wake was held here, the staff were kind, attentive and made us very welcome. Thankyou to everyone for superb service, I would certainly come back one day.
