Brix And Bones in Norwich

Was I little disappointed with the food, as I’d heard good things about this place. I was impressed with the service, the staff were very friendly and helpful. I had turbot , it was a little under cooked and the skin was soggy and greasy. We shared potatoes and leeks, which were good. We also ordered a beetroot and goats cheese side, which was so salty, I couldn’t eat it. Panna cotta for dessert but it was a little lacking in flavour and the granola pieces on the plate, didn’t really go with it. The bread that we ordered was very nice and the cocktail was good. I consider myself an average cook but feel I could have cooked the fish better than that and at £28 just for the fish, it should have been better.

Fantastic venue - small - perfectly formed - Lunch menu short and to the point with excellent knowledgeable service. Good wine list with an extensive selection of wine by the glass which was very helpful at lunchtime. We will be returning

We were very excited to visit this restaurant having heard good things. Firstly the acoustics within the restaurant make it very tricky to converse with others, it is very loud. The service was quite inconsistent, we had a different member of staff taking our order, serving and coming over during the evening. Our booking was 7.45pm, whilst being showed to our table we were reminded we only had it for 2hrs (if it was 6pm I could understand this, when the restaurant closes at 11pm they wouldn’t be doing another service & it simply felt quite rude!) Very expensive, especially when you need to order separate side dishes for every main course. Toilets were dirty. The food itself was tasty & enjoyed, but we did come away thinking goodness me that was very expensive for what we had.

Visiting Norwich and decided on the set lunch. I can honestly say that this was one of the best meals I have had for a very long time. Service was excellent with a good explanation of everything we had to eat. Started with a fab cocktail followed by the crab then monkfish. Flavours were sublime and portions perfect. We shared sides of asparagus and baby gem.

We had such a wonderful time here. The staff were great, engaging, knowledgeable and informative. The food was off the scale, we had never tasted steak like that in our lives. Highly highly recommended

My wife and I ate here with friends and had a fantastic meal in a great environment. The format is fun, but the food is serious. We had a combination of prime rib and sirloin. Both of which from half an Aberdeen Angus cow that had been hung for 99 days. It was delivered perfectly cooked and sliced ready for sharing. I’ve eaten in some amazing restaurants in my time, but this sirloin was hands down the most outstanding piece of beef I’ve ever had. I mean seriously, it was stunning. Smokey, gamey, earthy. The prime rob was equally stunning. Unlike other steak restaurants I’ve eaten at, the sides were equally lovely - sprouting broccoli, coffee carrots, and mustard mash. A lovely bottle of Primitivo opened with what I can only describe as a twist of flare by our waiter Jackson, rounded off a superb evening. The only slight negative was being rushed from our table before desert to make space for the next sitting - but to be fair we had two hours. Well worth a visit.

Holy mother of god, this place is good! Superb, had a family get together here last night. Ched and the rest of the waiting team were brilliant, advising us on what to get, led to an absolutely fantastic meal, sharing the turbot and prime rib between us. The wine was great too! As others have said it isn’t cheap, but equally well worth the cost. Long may the place continue!

Expected this to be expensive - so no surprises. We were looking for an intimate setting for our anniversary with good good and we were not disappointed. Well received on arrival with friendly and knowledgeable staff, well trained in the restaurants offerings from the food to the extensive wine list. We had the soda bread, mutton tacos and burnt onion starters. The soda bread is amazing. We were divided on the tacos - I wasn’t so keen but my partner loved them, the burnt onions were odd - we were both unsure about that one. The onions tasted lovely - but the green accompaniment was lest tasty. We had the the rump (charolais) 85 day aged cooked medium rare. It was super tasty. Hash brown, carrot and corn sides. The carrots were fabulous. Properly cooked and very tasty. The hash browns are enormous- made from riced potatoes- I felt these could be improved on as they looked great but lacked taste. The corn was fabulous - great taste but I think more thought could go into how it’s served to make it easier to eat. We had chimichuri and beef fat Mayo. Chimichuri was the best - can’t say either of us enjoyed the Mayo. We had the doughnut and the frangipani for desserts. Both were super delicious and worth saving a bit of space for. In all we loved it and would be back. Improvements- the toilets should be more fitting to the restaurant- broken seats, flowing cisterns and messy floors aren’t attractive. For somewhere like this you should be greeted with the chefs amuse Bouche. Maybe serve the meat on a wooden block? Very busy on a Thursday night - recommend earlier sitting if you want the full choice of cuts - as the available cuts are chosen they are wiped from the availability board. But busy means it’s good!!! Enjoy.
