In fact, the bunk next to it has a few tables and chairs for customers to dine in, and it is not a restaurant that requires takeout.

More batter than fish, and the chips were hard. How can someone get fish and chips this wrong? Not happy at all, went in the bin.

If you are in Norwich, it's much go place for fish and clips. Excellent place, vibrant menu, friendly staff and Plenty of space to dine in. Had a wonderful time with my family.

Every single time the order is wrong. Do they hate vegetarians? Several times I've had a meat burger, usually they forget the extra cheese I ordered. It can't be difficult to check as I order online. Often things.. even whole meals have not been packed. Strangely they have never added anything, it has always been something missing. Feeling conned so many times!

My favourite fish and chips in the city. Always happy with service and food. Great portions for price. Superb atmosphere in the bunker.

Visited this place thinking it would be a generic fish and chip shop but boy was I wrong! I ordered a soft shell crab sandwich called a crabby patty and my mouth is drooling thinking about it! Next time I’m back in the area I’m gonna be eating here!!!!

Superb fish and chips, very friendly staff

Very disappointing, cold chips (which we sent back and they didn't take the old chips back, they just added another portion of chips on the table which were hard and stale like they picked it from the same batch). very greasy fish, gravvy was like water curry sauce probably like half a tea spoon of curry powder actually in the pot... shocking and a shame, I heard REALLY good things about this place and I want to believe this was an off day or I just happened to catch a shift full of people who don't care.

I am not very knowledgable about fish and chips but thís must be in the top ten in the World. The best meal I have eten in week. Order by the till and the friendliest personel will serve you downstairs or next door! Absolutely wonderful!

Ordered the Fish Goujons & Chips , lovely young chap came into check our meal which hadn't arrived , must of got missed , but it was worth the wait ..delicious, very hot & freshly cooked white cod & chunky chips ..he placed a finger of fudge each on top of our order in way of an apology, he was very sweet.. thankyou for the lovely service .

Used to be the best fish and chip shop in Norwich. Now it no longer fries in beef dripping it has nothing to distinguish it. The fish and chips are average now. Plenty of places cater to vegans and veggies by frying in other oils. Those oils produce nasty aldehydes under heat. I don't want to eat that. Can't we have one place that fries the traditional way in non-toxic beef dripping?

Poor. Gone downhill such a shame.

What a fantastic little fish and chip shop/ restaurant, the food was fantastic and hot, and the service was fantastic didn’t get the name of the two gentlemen who helped with getting extra serviette’s they even gave us free little tea cakes a a big jug of water in a lovely fish shaped jug. 10 out of ten. Will definitely go back.

I’ve always loved the food, until this summer! I’ve eaten medium sausage and chips 3 times this summer, every time the sausages have been soggy, tough to bite through the batter, today’s experience was no exception. I even asked how long they’ve been sitting there to which the lady said “not long” Chips have also dropped off. Hopefully who ever reads these and manages the place will do a taste test and correct the cooking process and storage so the batter is crunchy. I’ll be using the market from now on and saving a few quid! Fingers crossed they sort it out!

The worst squid possible. How anyone can sell such a poor imitation of squid I cannot imagine. Tint strips of dried squid surrounded but a feat of batter. The batter is not the prime ingredient! Cant even provide a good tartare sauce - Heinz!! It would have been one star but my wife's chips were OK. Never again

-large portions French fries were okay, but nothing special -I liked the seasoning salt -However, the ketchup tasted absolutely disgusting

We didn’t get anything from here but the staff informed us that all the items were fried in the same oil which we appreciated knowing for religious reasons. They gave us a full refund even though we already ordered. Very thoughtful of them.

The fish & chips we ordered is the cod. Crispy battered skin and thick cod meat make it so good. The Looney Toony is the burger with tuna patty. The super thick tuna meat is a bit dry. But if added more wasabi, it could bring up the tuna flavor. The mushy peas and the purple coleslaw are the sides. Both are delicious. The price is cheaper by 50p for take out.

A horrible experience today, was called a liar by the duty manager when a mistake was made with my order, was made to feel it was my fault in front of a shop full of customers. Love the grosvenor have been a customer for 30+ year but won't be going back or ordering from you any more.

Opted for this place based on the reviews... We had three cod and chips, a squid and chips, plus medium sausage to take away. The chips were nice and I'm told the sausage was good. However, my son (an always hungry teebager) could only eat three out of the seven squid which were encased in a overly thick batter. The lowlight was the cod which was horrible - a fat square of dried out, tasteless cod with a vile, thick, greasy batter. I never understand how fish and chips shops can produce such terrible fish when they are doing this day in day out... Luckily we don't live in the area so we never have to go back.

We had “High Sea” the fish and chip version of afternoon/high tea. We ate in, so it cost a little more than takeaway. The meal cost approx £38 including drinks, but blimey! There was so much food (See photo). Prawns, cod, squid rings, more cod, a little wasabi fish burger, a huge portion of chips, battered gherkins. We had a brilliant feast, but perhaps a little too much for lunch!! Service was great, got a carafe of water and some complimentary tunnocks teacakes as “afters”. If we visit again, we would revisit, but maybe order a slightly smaller meal.

I've been coming to this place for years and have always enjoyed the food. The fish is always fresh, the batter is crispy, and the chips are nice. The portions are generous, and you can get a takeaway box for free if the serving is too large to eat in one sitting. The view from the next door room is very pleasant.However, this time the fish was hot, but the chips were lukewarm, which spoiled the pleasure of eating for me. The table was very sticky, and my sleeves would get stuck to it every time I placed them on the table. The food here is greasy, so it's not enough to wipe the table with a wet cloth; it needs a proper wash after each customer.

We’ve been here 3 times before. First time was great,2nd time was good 3rd time a bit iffy! Today we had a bad experience. Cod and chips,plaice chips and mushy peas and 2 teas cost £30. Far too expensive. Cod was a bit grey chips 😢 awful. Plaice ok Tea like dishwater. Table was sticky and knives and forks all smeared. Will not be going back. What a shame.

My husband wanted to visit because of the great reviews and he absolutely loved the service and the food. However he couldn't finish his food and packed it for later and when I opened the box at home, the coating of the fish had melted and the fish looked shrunk. I'm vegan and I don't know if that's normal but I found it very strange.

One of THEEEEEEEEE best fish and chip places in Norwich ad that is something coming from a girl of the Lowestoft coast, practically a mermaid ha ha.

Ordered food to eat in. 2 burgers and a clam burger and chips. Both burgers salad were gritty and the lettuce had visible mud on it. I took it back and they replaced all of the food. Unfortunately the lettuce was still unwashed (even dirtier than before) I then took it back again. I was then issued a refund BUT the server refused to look at the food and insisted that it had been washed. If she had looked she would definitely have seen the black mud present on the food!

I don't mind paying £16 for fish & chips but when the fish is medium & not large.I paid for a large. Chips were nice 😋 Haddock was definitely not fresh. Personally I will not reorder from here.

Fantastic fish and chips! As a Yorkshireman away from home, I can't believe I am saying this but this place knocks most of the chippies at home out of the park! The only downside was no gravy to pour over the chips like at home!

The service has never been great, but it was made up for by really good food. I hadn't been back in a while, but the switch from beef tallow is really noticeable, much worse taste and texture. I would recommend you visit a different place.

Well decorated and designed building with hands down the best chicken burger and chips I've had in a long time. Very nice, soft roll with a good amount of salad, homemade mayonnaise and a great sized chicken breast all form a great experience on the whole. The chips, as always are top drawer too and a must visit for anyone in the area.

I've always liked the Grosvenor and look forward to visiting. Food was of the usual excellent standard, but staff were more interested in having a laugh with each other than concentrating, and they got the order wrong.

Fantastic experience with the Grovesnor team! We had a large work takeaway order totalling £200plus and the team were more than happy to accomodate our request. The team were very friendly and packed all the food into 2 bags so it was easier for us to carry. Even though we forget to take the drinks, they walked all the way to our office and delivered them! We were really happy with the experience and will definitely come back :)

Very disappointed. Expected meals on plate.and table service. Like a dungeon down the stairs, never go again, shadow of its former self, no where nice to get nice fish and chips in nice surroundings in Norwich anymore

We ordered takeaway from grosvenor fish bar and are very unhappy. we waited 40 minutes for this to arrive and when it arrived it was missing a portion of chips and the cod was soggy and flavourless.

Great service & on the whole a fab place. We got there just before the midday rush & managed to get a table downstairs. Very dark down there though, so could do with better or a bit more lighting. Food was a good portion size but the fish goujon was very greasy. Chips were delicious 😋

Have already given this a poor review for fish & chips for family that were expensive & tasteless, but thought it'd probably be OK for a takeaway bag of £3 chips.... How wrong could I be? Waited 40 minutes in a queue of about 8 people. Asked someone how long they'd waited for chips....30 minutes. Saw lots of Deliveroos going out though. Won't bother with the Grosvenor again.

Wow bobbed in yesterday as the smell of fish and chips was so tempting. Sadly for me it was too be. When I asked was the chips gluten free the server said boldly yes and no. Why? I asked because potatos aren’t wheat based she said ‘we fry other stuff in the oil’ please train your staff about food allergens and find away of supporting coeliac in Norfolk.

Nowhere near as good as it was five years ago. Far more interesting in serving Deliveroo or Uber Eats delivery people rather than those actually in the shop. Waited over 20 minutes for takeaway fish and chips. the food was overcooked and inedible.

A barely average meal today. Rather greasy and fish overcooked. Chips were OK. They used to be very reliable for a great meal but no more and too variable. I will need to give them a break for a while to see if they recapture their mojo otherwise will need to seek alternatives as quite disappointing on this visit, sorry to say.

Best chippy on the planet end of story

This place I believe cooks in Beef Dripping the chips were very greasy and the fish was very oily they said they use vegetable oil which is most likely to be palm oil which is very saturated fat. It is not cheap either you would get a better meal at your local chippy Avoid like the plague. Also the restaurant looks a bit tired and not very nice to look at. Go to the Ivy for top nosh every time

Some of the best fish and chips I've had, fresh and delicious. The portions were big and the prices quite reasonable. The waiting time was shorter than we were expecting for a Saturday evening.

WOW! WHAT A PLACE! I heard about this place from my mum and decided to try it out. And WOW! It was OUTSTANDING! As someone who loves a bit of British history and a good fish and chips, my expectations were fulfilled and more! What a lovely place. Affordable, lovely atmosphere, staff was amazing and polite and food came out in a good amount of time too! Highly recommend :)

The best fish shop in the country

The fish was not good. Atmosphere poor the way the food was dished up in dishes. bent did not lay on table properly very poor.

A fish and chip staple, the fine dining fish and chip shop... Great atmosphere, we dined in and had the infamous Xmas dinner, it was very nice indeed.

Busy when we went, so service was a bit slow and they unfortunately missed part of our order but they did quickly sort it out so not a major concern. Good prices for an evening meal, tasty sausages and cod.

This is always our No.1 to go for fish and chips, but on this occasion we were so disappointed. We waited half an hour then our food was dried and tasteless. The fish was like cardboard and the batter hard. The chips were awful. So disappointing. Really does not make us want to return. Usually such a beautiful meal! Very disheartened!

Unfortunately this used to be the best go to chip shop in Norwich. Since it changed hands it has been getting worse and worse. Honestly the chips on the market are way better and taste much nicer.

Sorry to say but not good on this visit. Chips were much thinner than usual and were greasy. Oil seemed old. Cod looked a good size but was largely batter but the batter was at least crispy. For the price charged a poor effort and will not visit again for a while and hopefully this is not indicative of the future.

Been coming here for years, the food is always wonderful. The staff are lovely and always up for a natter. Cara is wicked. Food is very affordable and they always have cosy lighting up.

Fantastic food in what was once a ww2 bunker. Very unusual but very different. If you enjoy your fish n chips then you must try this plaice 😊

They always used to fry chips in beef fat, so avoided this place in the past, but apparently they have now changed to veg oil. Has always had great reviews and queues out of the door, so booked table online. Easy ordering through QR code on table and menu was extensive and interesting, with items not usually on offer in British fish and chip shops. Maybe I chose the wrong thing as I found my soft shelled crab to be incredibly greasy and lacking in flavour, but the chips were ok. Whilst the basement restaurant is atmospheric, part of it being cavelike and another part like an Anderson shelter, it was incredibly cold. The heating was just not fit for purpose on a winter's night. On leaving we actually thought it was warmer outside.

Been here so many times, the fish and chips are so good and I love that they serve their cod with a lemon wedge. They also have a lot of variety so plenty of things to try on the menu, all round perfect fish bar, 10/10 recommend. definitely a must try if you’re visiting Norwich 😎

Best chippie in Norwich by far!

The food was beautiful. Crispy batter on the fish, chips fried to perfection. The chicken nuggets were crispy yet tender. Overall, it’s up there with the best takeaway I’ve ever had.

Swam into Grosvenor's Fish Bar in Norwich today, and even though we sat 'next door' instead of in the cave, the place was still fintastic! The service behind the fish counter was reel class, and my '7 quid squid' and battered sausage were a real catch. My girlfriend wasn't hooked on the Waco Taco, so it's for sure traditional fish next time. Despite the fishy situation, we both had a whale of a time and loved the chips—totally off the scale!

Very good fish and chips, service was also very good. 5 star to staff handling a dum customer complaining they put the chips together and taking it out on staff asking them “what if it was a potato allergy?”… like… why do people come to a fish and chips restaurant in the first place - people are dum dums… Recommend!

First time visiting here. Lovely staff, quirky layout and tasty food. Highly recommend to friends and family :) Also a Shout out to Cara who always seemed to have a smile on her face even though she was busy 🙂 And also to the stuffing balls they were a delight!

Best fish and chips in Norwich. Always good service, never had a bad meal here and normally absolutely delicious. ( curry sauce is great here too!) There's also seating downstairs if rainy. Definitely our go to when in the city.

Credit where Credit is due, very good traditional fish & chips, including mushy peas. Excellent quick efficient service, good price. The "Bunker" is a unique subterranean seating area, to eat your food. Definitely visit again.

It's dirt simple really - there is nowhere better. Absolutely nowhere. The quality of food, the service, the atmosphere of the bomb shelter-like starting area. There is nothing that needs improvement. Nothing. Not a thing. I've just been in and even though I'm three sheets to the wind, I'm composed enough to know there's nowhere I'd rather have got dinner after the beer festival. I got the chips and chicken fillet burger and a pickled egg, and it was exactly what I needed, fresh to order. They forgot my bun and, rather than make me pay for one, accepted it as their error and added it anyway. This is without remembering the number of family lunches they've done for me and my family absolutely perfectly, in terms of service and quality. We always consider this place as our lunch venue whenever we come to town. Best chippy in the country, bar none. Look no further. Simple as.

Popped in for a quick Friday lunch whilst waiting for an appointment, left really dissapointed. Chips clearly had been sitting under heater all afternoon as they were dry, overcooked and utterly flavourless. Battered sausage was passable at best. Clear to see its lost its crown as the best chippy in Norwich since it changed hands.
