My first time back for 6 years when Carorline still used to serve the "Naughty breakfast" in their old premises across the road. Now replaced by 3 others which includes the "Large breakfast "which is a feast. Consistent quality over three visits in a fortnight & a lovely warm welcome every time. Worth a trip all the way from Africa.
My father likes to come here for lunch so today we came together. I have just had the best mac and cheese ever. Great service and I love the way they look after my 93 year old Daddy.
This is by far one of my favourite restaurants I've been too!! I had the stilton and mushroom veggie burger which uses plant based meat. I will definitely be coming again! The chips were also seasoned so beautifully absolutely amazing! The customer service was brilliant too!! Thank you 😊
I would have given this place a rating in the negatives but giving 1 as needed to write a review.
The food is absolutely awful. My husband ordered one of the loaded dogs and I wish we had taken a video of how it was … inedible slop.
I ordered a lamb dish which again was inedible the flavour was sweet and mostly just tasted of cinnamon taking over the entire dish
When the plates were taken it was evident that we had barely touched our food but there were no questions from the wait staff. I could tell from their expression that they had picked up on it.
My drink which was a large Malbec tasted astringent and stale
Disappointing beyond belief. I’d always thought this place was one to visit as we passed it for several years.
I would say nice cosy pub but eat at your peril (that’s if you like good food)
Anyways
We were here for lunch with an aunt who lives in Dovercourt. She came here at Christmas with friends and recommended it. Although it was off season, we booked a table as it’s a small pub. The food was good, with very generous portions. We can recommend the ham egg and chips and the salmon and broccoli fishcakes - but bring an appetite. The staff were friendly. Parking is limited and their car park is round the back.
Been getting takeaways here since it opened and was a customer in Ware before.
Normally so good, but not this time… staff disinterested & food went from a decent 9/10 to 1/10.
Much less good quality and fatty - not good at all.
What’s happened?
As regular customers for lunch on Saturdays my partner and I have noticed that the service has got worse.
If the owner isn’t there, the young staff who despite doing their best, leave customers for ages before taking orders and don’t notice when customers need them.
Today we received our beers but no glasses, then we waited 50 mins for 2 basic mains and a side dish, they came followed by our cutlery.
The food is good and the staff are lovely but it’s clear there weren’t enough doing front of house and probably the kitchen, as we weren’t alone waiting ages today.
We want to support it as an independent restaurant but the really slow service is putting us off.
Visited Ek Raj for the first time after an advert on Facebook. Ordered items from the Fix menu!
Literally exceptional quality food, we chose the following items.
1. loaded Masala Chips - Unreal with a really nice kick of heat.
2. Bombay Aloo Roll - Nice bread, Potato could have had stronger spice but was delicious
3. Open Loaded Naan (Tikka Masala) - OMG. This was UNREAL. Great bread, really tasty.
Literally would go back tomorrow! Such a delicious and entrepreneurial way to add quick dishes to the menu!
5* overall.
Third visit to Eliza’s and again the food was stunning . The sharing platter starter , spring rolls and fried balls of rice with a lime and chilli dip was just sublime, really very tasty. The Kho Mak Chicken and the Hot and Spicy Red Beef were delicious as was the lime and tamarind noodles . Generous portions and fresh tasting . The kind of food that makes you want to eat more despite knowing you’ve had enough . Staff very polite and friendly too. Definitely will be returning.
Disgusting AVOID AVOID AVOID like the plague worst curry I have ever had in my life! Ordered butter chicken, chicken tikka, chicken curry all had no taste what so ever colour was well off arrived cold honestly do yourself a favour and go elsewhere and save yourself some money just spent over £50 and thrown it in the bin and ordered from somewhere else
It started well with a good selection on the menu. When we came to order our breakfast sandwiches my friend asked how much it would be to add an egg to her bacon sandwich, at which point the waitress advised that the prices on the menu had increased so weren't correct & could only say they had gone up by about 50p. On asking for a sparkling water she advised that had also gone up by 20p maybe 30p, these increases were due to the cost of living increase. When we questioned why the menus hadn't been updated she advised there were new owners & it hadn't been done yet but that there was a sign on the wall inside the shop advising of the price increase, we were sat outside but to be honest anyone entering the shop wouldn't have seen it as it would have been behind them. She then brought out the A4 sign. She also tried to find an updated menu which she couldn't find. Firstly I am sure this must be illegal to advertise one price & charge another & secondly a hand written note could have been added to the menu or a copy of the price increase attached to the menu which everyone would have seen. Maybe the new owners should hold fire on the price increase until new menus are available as it may save their reputation. The breakfast sandwiches were very tasty, however the 'glass' that accompanied the sparkling water was in fact a jar with a thread for a screw top. Some might call it funky but not to everyone's taste. Needless to say it wasn't used.
There are standards which have to be met & the clear advertising of correct pricing is one of them. We are all effected by the cost of living crisis & on occasions when we do our bit to support local businesses we might be watching the pennies too.
We used to visit this resturant all of the time whilst under previous owner Alfio . Sadly since he retired the food quality and ambiance is not the same . Gradually it has gone down hill . In an authentic little place like this fresh food is a must . It appeared that the prawns had been frozen and were tasteless , the pizza dry and nothing anybody had was as good as it used to be . Maybe it was a bad night in the kitchen , but at the price you pay you expect better . Sadly we won't return .
