One Thai in Bishop's Stortford in East Hertfordshire

Definitely worth a visit if you're in the mood for some seriously tasty Thai food. The place has a lovely, cosy vibe – modern but cosy, so it’s perfect for a chilled-out meal with friends or even a more intimate dinner. There are loads of delicious options, and there’s something for everyone, whether you're a veggie, gluten-free, or just a big fan of spice. The Tom Yum soup is a standout – full of bold flavours and a proper kick of heat. The Pad Thai is another favourite, with that perfect balance of sweet, sour, and salty. Oh, and the Green Curry? Absolute winner – creamy and full of fresh veg and tender meat. The staff are super friendly and always ready to help if you’re unsure what to order. Prices are pretty decent too, especially given the quality of the food. All in all, if you’re after a spot that does great Thai food in a relaxed setting, One Thai should definitely be on your radar. Would absolutely recommend!

Went out for a quiet dinner on a Wednesday evening, the place was literally empty. The guy who served us was very nice. We had pad thai and green curry. Pad thai was ok but the green curry was phenomenal. This was the best green curry I have ever had. It was as spicy as a green curry should be, I just loved it. I definitely recommend it.

Nice Thai if wanting to stay local in Stortford. Food very average, nothing special, and was quite expensive. Small portion sizes of curry. Service has room for improvement, not very attentive and had to ask another guest to get waiters attention. Ambience a bit odd - not an authentic Thai atmosphere with the 90s playlist and someone playing with the light setting quite dramatically through the evening. Presentation of food could be better; for example, other Thais we’ve been to the sticky rice is served in a plastic bag but put inside a wicker basket which helps with the authenticity and elevates the dish. The Thai salad on the side of the starter did not look appetising or appealing and we would usually eat this elsewhere as fresh and colourful. This looked like the base for coleslaw without the mayo! Wouldn’t rush to go back; it was ok and average, non offensive but not a patch on an our favourite Thai in Hertford, which blows this experience out of the water.

We live locally and have been here numerous times but tonight was nothing like as good as usual. Firstly, we were not greeted by the usual lovely Thai ladies. Instead a gentleman said “they were waiting for us” as if we were late but we weren’t. The service was then a little too quick for a relaxing evening. Then, my husband ordered Weeping Tiger steak. It had no chillies next to it as he doesn’t like hot food however when it came, the accompanying dip was extremely hot with chillies. When we pointed this out they said they would bring a non chilli dip. We were very surprised when on the bill they charged us extra for the replacement dip! When we questioned it they said that we should have cross referenced the stipulated accompanying dip and we would have seen that it had chillies! The whole thing left a very bad taste in our mouths and we won’t be back. What has happened to make this place downhill?

Portions were very small. £4 for sticky rice and it was 1/3 of a bag of boiled rice. Enough for less than 1 person. Quality was not all that good.

How hard can it be to add cutlery if I ask for it in capital letters?

Eat regularly at One Thai and have always had great food and service. Went last Saturday and we had penang curry with chicken and stir fry with pork, both very tasty. Happy to recommend.

06.24: Lunch rice a bit on the dry side yet the cocktail made up for it in good measure, thank you, mother tried your place for the first time yesterday. 2021-2024: The curry, which I paired with a delicious Mai Tai, was well portioned, artfully presented on the plate, and quite flavourful.

Recommended by friends, exceed the expectations. Kim, our waitress, was amazing. She helped us choose just the right dishes. If you are looking for a filling lunch go for mild Massaman Curry. My friend opted for a stir fry with ginger and rice, highly recommended.

You are basically going out for dinner with 15 other people. The evening was spoiled however by the owner shouting at us for questioning a portion of prawn crackers that we never received, it took the server 30 minutes to take our order, which she then slammed down on our table. No surprise I am not going to pay your 10% service fee. Which is a complete con. Would not return, food was more than average, nothing special.

The Beef Khao pad (Kau pad)was not great. The fried rice was hot alright but the pieces of beef were cold, tough and lacked flavour, added so the warmth of the rice will keep it hot I guess. Overall subpar and I’ve had better khao pad right here in Bishop’s Stortford. The Eagle wing was delicious. Overall disappointed.

Firstly, the food was amazing. Service a little slow but the fact there seemed a constant flow of delivery drivers picking up orders was the probable cause. We were in no particular rush so it wasn't too much of an issue. My only gripe really was the music. In restaurants, music is key to setting an ambience and in a Thai restaurant, I wouldn't expect to hear songs from Grease, Elton John or Abba's back catalogue. Seriously though, if you want top notch Thai food, look no further. Mixed starters, Prawn Pad Thai, Panang curry and rice was probably the best Thai food we've ever tasted.

We loved this the food was delicious and the waitress was fantastic and very attentive. My husband had the seafood mix which was delicious and plenty of it. Extremely reasonable prices and nice atmosphere. Beautifully clean toilets too !We will be back thank you x

I had been to this restaurant several times in the past two/three years since it was newly opened, and my old review for it was 4 stars, and now I am editing my review and give it a 2 stars, because today I had quite a disappointing dining experience there. I went there for lunch at 12:30pm on a Friday. I asked for a table of 2 and my friend hasn’t arrived yet (she then came in 10 mins later), the restaurant was half full and there was only one waitress serving all the customers. Apparently she was very busy and I could understand that, she then pointed to me to sit on one of the tables. Ever since I sat down there, I started to feel myself like invisible, she didn’t give me any menu, I then needed to walk to her to ask for a starter and drinks menu (or she was thinking we would not order any starters or drinks?) but she did give food & drink menu and even 2 glasses of tap water to another table, obviously without them asking. I wonder why ? So I kind of felt so uncomfortable there as I felt we weren’t really served properly. I had Thai red curry I think it wasn’t really tasty , my friend had fried rice and she said it tasted good.

Dropped in VERY hungry. Made an order online. Paid in restaurant. Had a chat with delivery driver in my very bad Spanish, they're from Hungry, sorry bad spolling... Hungary....and practicing his Spanish because there's an Ecuadorian member of staff! Walked home. Got back home and 2 minutes later food arrives! Haven’t ordered for a few months, the food was not as good as I remember. The spring roll portion was tiny! The pad Thai was really lacking flavour. I was disappointed as I expected better!

The website said 30 minutes delivery still waiting 1:30 later and it’s saying won’t be here until 8:40 which is 2 hours! Won’t be ordering from this restaurant again. Very little communication! Terrible!

Got a takeaway with friends on a Saturday lunchtime. It was the first time of ordering and we were all really impressed by the quality of the food.

I have eaten in the restaurant and had deliveries from One Thai. The food is delicious and fresh and is the best local Thai restaurant in the area. With one delivery, the soup spilled out during transit - the owner refunded me and also gave 20% discount which was automatically applied when ordering again online. Fantastic food and brilliant customer service! Will keep coming back.

Been here a few times and the food and welcome has always been excellent. Great value as well. Ask for the food to be "Thai spicy" for that extra kick!

In my 13 years I never had the bad food like that . My Frnd invite me to attend her birthday party . So order some food . It was so bad taste . Just had few bit and I threw all the food . Noodle was over cooked , price is so expensive. £12 for noodles fry , I can do it my home . So disgusting taste But the staff are so good and friendly. I like their customer service. But the reason I went to the restaurant is food. Which is not good

Staff are nice, the size of the food is comparative small. Child menu around £4 with main dish only, dessert (ice cream) cost extra £2. The toilet is very clean.

Order arrived 40 minutes later than expected. Originally ordered meal for 2 before husband had to go out - but too late so he went out with no food. When it did arrive all items except satay were cold and had to be heated. Very unhappy and disappointed.

Visited here this week. As always food was fantastic but service was very poor. You really need one person at the bar and two people serving.

The food was good, but the portion sizes were much to be desired - especially given the price you pay.

This was a takeaway rather than a restaurant visit. The food itself was quite nice when we actually received it (but stone cold and nearly an hour late from the original estimate, and half an hour late from the revised time given). We placed an order at 9pm through their website, with an estimated delivery of 9.50 (this was fine, and certainly reasonable for a Friday night). The restaurant rang me at 9.55 to let me know it would be ten minutes late; at 10.20 I rang them for an update, to be told the driver had left at 10.10. We live within a mile of the restaurant, so wouldn’t expect an actual delivery to be long. At 10.30, still no food had arrived so I rang back to be told it would be with us any minute. At 10.45 the food finally arrived stone cold as we were calling for a refund. Obviously issues happen and it’s possible that they were short staffed of drivers, but we would absolutely not have bothered ordering if we had known it would take so long to arrive.

Unfortunately the food was tasteless. I had the ribs which were tasteless. The pork in the panang was dry and chewy and very bland. The rice was still in the bag. Won't be ordering from here again

The family meal at that Thai restaurant was absolutely brilliant! Pad Thai was spot on - lovely and flavourful, with just the right balance of sweet and savoury. The real winner was the duck curry. The duck was tender and juicy, and the curry sauce was rich and fragrant. I highly recommend giving both dishes a try if you get the chance. All in all, we had a great time tucking in and catching up as a family. Can't wait to go back!

Easily our favourite Thai restaurant in Bishop’s Stortford and I can claim to know a bit about Thai cuisine , having lived in South East Asia. It is very small so booking recommended although they found a table for us when we went on spec having returned from London. Great choice of food and you can ask them to make a dish more to your taste either hotter or milder Would recommend the tempura prawns, spring rolls, sea bass and any variety of pad thai

Bad quality food tasteless pad Thai very little other than veg in the dishes

I rarely leave reviews but on this occasion I will make an exception; this was pretty much the best Thai meal I’ve ever had. The food was clearly freshly cooked by someone who knew their craft, excellent service and reasonably priced dishes. We will definitely be going back soon.

Shockingly poor portion size. The food was early and it tasted great but when your curry pot comes 1/4 full and you've paid near on £10 a dish it's really not on. Ended up ordering more food elsewhere as there was nowhere near enough. Just eat were not interested as "each restaurant sets their own portion size". Love this little, authentic restaurant. Some friends and I use it quite regularly and highly recommend the food and service. Not chain food style, more straight off the beach in thailand, slightly rustic in ambience. Look forward to next time ... again.

Relaxed atmosphere. Great location in the town. Reasonably authentic food. Definitely one of the better Stortford restaurants. I would recommend checking it out. We had sharing platter, Penang tofu and veg curry, sea bass and pad Thai with pork. Mint soda mocktail. All were fab.

Having previously ordered an amazing take out, I have decided to visit the restaurant with a few friends. We had a great evening, the service was efficient despite busy restaurant, atmosphere was buzzing, and the food was absolutely beatiful. Lab Pla is definitely worth trying, seabass with fresh lime and chilli dressing. Simply yummy.

Our whole experience was disjointed from the start. We called the restaurant to what it seemed to be convinced / put off of ordering a delivery due to the wait time of which we said it was fine. After the restaurant trying to find more excuses not to deliver or suggest a collection, they said they can’t deliver and we have to order off deliveroo or Uber eats. We therefore proceeded to download the app and order off there where we need to pay service charges & delivery fees making the meal more expensive. When the order finally arrived 30 minutes after we received a notification it’d be dispatched, the portion sizes were extremely small. Considering we ordered 3 curries, 3 rices and 2 starters, £57 seemed abit steep and we expected a-bit of a feast for that price! The way the rice was delivered in a plastic bag and the fact there was no peanuts in the small portion of masaman was poor for the price. The whole experience was massively disappointing and the food which was delivered was arguably not even worth 50% of what we paid. Perhaps the restaurant experience is different however I would not recommend a delivery

A small but authentic restaurant tucked away in Bishop’s Stortford town centre, it is certainly a hidden gem. The food was delicious and service was both quick and attentive. The options for vegetarians are amazing, I recommend the tofu pad Thai and the sweetcorn starter.

The staff are really lovely and friendly and the place is nice. However, the portions are small ( I was still hungry when I got home) and the shared platter was very poor other than the chicken satay. A lot of fried pastry,bread etc with very little filling.... not enjoyable and very expensive for what it is. The red thai curry was small, very watery indeed ( I appreciate it shouldn't be thick but this really was thin) and had only four prawns in it. Otherwise all seemingly freshly cooked which is nice. I will think twice about revisiting.
