Baan Thitiya in East Hertfordshire

Sadly missed off one of our meals. Refused to rectify and said we should get a refund from Go-getters. The food we got was average. Not sure I will use restaurant or Go-getters again. Disappointed

We booked online for 8:45pm. When we arrived, we were turned away saying they were fully booked. We challenged and said we'd booked online, to which they replied they did not check their online booking system. We then got seated, and the two tables near to us had no one on them. So they clearly were not fully booked. We ordered starters and main. When we were halfway through our starters, at 9:25pm, we were told the kitchen was closing and could they serve our main course. Before we finished the main course they brought the bill for us to pay and pressurised us to finish up and leave. Not the greatest experience we have had at this restaurant. The food is good but unfortunately this experience will not make this our first choice in the future.

We ordered a takeaway, two mains, rice and noodles, paying extra for more meat at nearly £17 for a lamb dish as they are known for small portions. What we got was 6 small cubes of lamb, some of which was chewy. Even the rice container wasn't full and they are small containers, surely they can give you enough rice? This place is expensive, average quality and very mean with it's portions, leaving us hungry afterwards. For the money they charge I think they are a disgrace!

Such a delicious Thai, recently visited for my mums birthday with my sisters. We order hot hors d’oeuvres for 2 we got two for four of us plus duck & pancakes. Absolutely delicious l, hot & serviced first. Extremely filling that when it came to our mains we struggled to fit it all in. Really reasonably price specially for high quality food yet there was a sour taste left in our mouth waiting how the waitresses were treated in there. The owner seems speaks to them in such a disgusting manner & tone, a form of bully. Really do feel for these waitresses.

Firstly, this was our first time visiting this restaurant. Apart from it being very small and very noisy we liked the food and for the price and location it was absolutely fine, although nothing out of the ordinary. It was quite pretty inside, however it was quite difficult to have a conversation due to the acoustics of the place and the fact that it was full and it was hard to relax with the din of the busy restaurant. The staff were efficient though and our food came quite promptly. However when the bill came we had been overcharged by over £12! Due to the fact we didn't check the bill at the time, we didn't realise the restaurant's error until much later when we had returned home and queried why we had been charged so much. We checked what we should actually have paid with what we were charged, and it was just over £12. I know errors happen, but for this to happen on our first visit does not endear us to rush back any time soon. A shame, but we will probably avoid for the time being.

Went on a Friday night, for a sit down meal. The restaurant was busy and we were offered a table by the front door. It was very noisy with a stream of takeaway drivers and the restaurant manager was in loud conversation. The food arrived and was only warm, so I asked for it to be reheated. The waitress didn’t know how to handle that request so we called the manager owner, who dealt with the issue speedily. The food arrived again, this time piping hot. It was delicious. Lesson learned… next time I’ll only sit in the back room of the restaurant!

Amazing taste, service, quality and value. True Thai ambiance. Lunch menu very well priced and dinner is excellent. Best Thai we have ever had as we love Thai food.

Have been visiting here most weeks when in the area for work. Have tried various dishes and haven’t been disappointed yet! Grew up with Thai food and value their authenticity. Staff are attentive and pleasant.

Been a couple of times now, and the food is always good and the staff are great. They are very attentive, and with a great sense of humour.

Visited on a Friday evening for my wife’s birthday dinner, and although the food tasted nice at the time I woke up the following morning with terrible food poisoning! Was sick all weekend and was only able to keep anything down by Monday! Won’t be going back.

Sunday eve.fancied thai and it was delious Had prawns for starters .satay chicken. And prawns were so tasty and cooked perfect. Had the steak and asked for it medium.cut like butter so soft and tasty with salad .and stir fry veg with the steak. Duck and egg fried rice it was spicey .next time i will not have as spicey.but duck was cooked good and so tasty Couple of glasses of wine .service was good .not over busy while we was in there.and clean toilets .got chocs when paid bill.and had ice creaeam for dessert. Staff were friendly helpful and courteous.

This place gets busy and understandably so, myself like many others come for the great food and stay for the excellent service and atmosphere.

Arrived for our booked table to wait almost 1/2 hour to order a drink. After waiting longer with no sign of being able to order our food decided to pay for our drinks and leave. It was extremely cold in the restaurant which didn’t help. Service was shocking and will not be going back and do not recommend!

The food was amazing! We cannot fault it, everything was delicious. BUT despite booking we were sat by the door (the other option by the toilets!). Throughout our meal we had people and delivery drivers/just eat drivers stood over us, the door was open with the cold, wet wind blowing in. We did complain but the waitress couldn’t be less bothered. The staff were so preoccupied with the takeaway service that we had to call them down just to get a drink; the couple next to us had to keep requesting parts of their order that had been missed. No napkins were provided for the mains either. A little thing but it makes a difference when you need to wipe your mouth! Even the people arriving to collect takeaways were left waiting, which was quite uncomfortable, as at one point there were seven people stood directly behind behind our table!! As I said, food was fantastic, I’d order a takeaway but they couldn’t even get that cooked on time. Such a shame and disappointment. I did complain (politely) at the time but the waitress just shrugged her shoulders. Even paying the bill was painful. Don’t bother eating or ordering from here.

Ordered via Just Eat. They turned up 45minutes early and we weren’t home. They came back in time and we realised we were missing a couple of dishes. Rang them and they asked me to wait and they’d call back in 5 minutes. Then they offered a refund which we are still waiting for a week later. So disappointed- used to be great but no refund, lack of interest on a number of dishes missing.

We ordered from Uber Eats for my son's 16th birthday. They delivered completely the wrong order to me, including someone else's receipt with their personal details (Hello Sue H!). I phoned to rectify this and they promised redelivery in 30 minutes...still no show 50 minutes...

Ordered a takeaway from here this afternoon! Service was incredibly friendly both over the phone, and upon collection! The food was very reasonably priced, was ready to collect within 10 minutes of ordering. Only ordered from here because the usual Thai restaurant we use was closed - however in future this will be our first choice. No complaints whatsoever, would 100% use again!

We have long been fans and they are doing an excellent take away service at the moment. The food is as delicious as ever and has always been ready as we arrived. Highly recommended.

I fancied Thai food whilst staying in the town and choose this over the Siam because of the bigger choice of vegetarian options. Good call! The food was excellent; fresh, tasty, served quickly, generous portions and reasonably priced. The best oriental food I've had on ages. Staff were friendly and attentive. Highly recommend. In fact I'm coming back to Hertford for a one night stay in January and am planning to come back here with anticipation.

Food and service were impeccable. The presentation of the dishes was fantastic. We were three diners with different requirements. Food allergies and intolerances were properly catered for. The staff were very friendly and efficient. We had a wonderful evening.

An absolutely delicious dinner! Venison, Lamb and Duck cooked to perfection and beautifully done. This is now a firm favourite We found this by accident on a Monday evening. Very quiet but apparently it’s packed at weekends. There was a steady but discreet stream of takeaway customers Highly recommended !

As soon as we entered the restaurant the staff were very friendly. The menu has a wide choice of traditional dishes and the staff answered all our questions fully. We all ordered different dishes and each dish looked and tasted amazing! All 6 of us were very happy! Would highly recommend this restaurant

We were very tired and needed a good meal. We were warmly greeted on entering and given a table even though we had not booked. The food was prepared quickly and service was friendly and efficient. The dishes we had were very tasty and we enjoyed them greatly, although some of it was too salty to be healthy. The portions were deceptively small and served in dishes that made them look larger.

I came to Baan Thitiya for the first time at the beginning of May on a date. As we walked in there was a nice atmosphere, we were pleasantly greeted and were then seated in the side room. The menu is fairly large, however there is also a section for Chef’s Favourites and Chef’s Recommendations. I was also very pleased to see that they had a large and comprehensive allergy list! Being seated in the side room, you do start to wonder whether you may be forgotten about or have to wait longer than usual. Well, this was not something that we had to worry about in the slightest as we found the staff to be really attentive!

This place is often overlooked - but don’t! The service is lovely, the food fantastic and a lot calmer than other Thai restaurants in Hertford.

Went out for the afternoon with two mates and plan was to go for our usual curry. One of the lads had never eaten Thai though and requested we give it a go. We walked in at 6, no need to book if early but advisable if later. Warm welcome followed by excellent food including a fab Pad Thai. I went to Thailand two months ago and the food here was as authentic as there. Washed down with a couple of ice cold Chang lagers, my Thai Virgin friend broke his cherry here and loved it!

We went to this Thai restaurant with friends and were very pleasantly surprised. The service was quick and attentive and the menu had a good selection of dishes. The food was delicious and I will be returning.

What a great find! Definitely coming back here. The food and the service were both excellent. We had the soft-shell crab, prawn toasts followed by red and green Thai curry with sticky rice. Fantastic! Highly recommended and gets 5 "keeping it real" stars!

My Husband Daughter and I just had the most fantastic meal Tonight.I have had Red Chicken Curry in so many places but this is now my absolute Favourite.Every course was amazing. And the Homemade Coconut Ice Cream was gorgeous and the banana pancakes with honey and ice cream was so lovely ( we tried our Daughters.) The staff were all so attentive and lovely, nothing was too much trouble. Even to the point where the owner was writing down Thai words for my 7 year old to learn.We can't wait to go back.

Quite disappointed this visit, I know it's busy but 30 minutes then we had to stop a waitress before the drink order taken & again we had to stop another waitress to take the food order at 55 minutes, it took another 20 minutes before the starters arrived, some of them were only warm. Finally the main courses arrived 1 hour 55 minutes after we arrived with about a 5 minute gap between half of us getting their mains, and the other half getting theirs, I had the main arrive first and they brought the wrong side dish 5 minutes later and took another 3 to change it. I must say that is the worst service I have received in years with some luke warm food.

Went here with friends to celebrate a 50th birthday. It was booked a few weeks ago. Sadly when we turned up, our table wasn’t ready and it seemed that they didn’t have room for us. We had to stand in the middle of the restaurant while they dashed around trying to find us a table. They asked 3 people to move onto another table so they could push that table next to another one. We got seated but there still wasn’t enough room and one of our party had to continuing standing while they found another table and chair.

Went with my wife on a Friday night for dinner. Had the set menu for 2 - great value and delicious food, so much we couldn't finish it all. Got very busy later with people even standing while they waited for a table, which I took as a good sign. Get there early for a calmer dinner! Service friendly and effective too.

I visited this restaurant last week after a friend recommended and It did not disappoint! It’s great value for money and in a great location. The food was all cooked to perfection and there is a good variety of dishes on the menu! I have visited other Thai restaurants in Hertfordshire and the food here in my option is definitely the best. The decor is simple but nice and clean, the staff were very attentive and polite. It was so lovely I’m going back this weekend! Five stars!

Five of us for Sunday evening meal 30/12/18. Very quiet with few customers although waiter mentioned they are fully booked for NYE. Nice decor....seemed clean and tidy although entrance door mat and entrance need some TLC. Head waiter was mature & friendly and good at his job although coughing a few times when delivering the food! I thought £4.10 for a small bottle of beer was a bit pricey. Food was good but not great in my opinion and again a little over priced. We all had a nice evening. Bill was £156.00 + optional tip £170.00 total.

Had a lovely evening with girl friends . We were seated upstairs which gave us some privacy. After some bad experiences, we were apprehensive. The service was attentive, the food amazing, best Penang I have had in ages and superb value. We were not rushed at the end either giving us quality time to catch up . Will be back

Went for dinner with a friend on Friday night. Service was faultless, waiter really looked after us and made us feel very welcome. Food was tasty and portions were a good size. Meal for two and a bottle of wine £65, quite reasonable I think!

Friendly welcome and service throughout although server was a little too involved at times and would dish out your rices for you which we would have preferred to do ourselves due to eating habits. The crispy wonton starter had very little meat filling. We both got the Gaeng Ped Yang which had good flavour but was missing pineapple chunks and my husbands had no lychee in it. The bill was a little pricey. The cocktail was ok but the alcohol in it tasted a lower quality. We probably would return here but not in a hurry.

Excellent food, lots of choice, flexible set menu to accommodate and above all fantastic customer service. Really authentic atmosphere and nice decor.

I really enjoy the food served in this restaurant, the grilled fish is superb, curry and noodle was excellent. Service was amazing, and parking lot is just across the road. Definitely coming back more and more.

My other half has already been here before and we was in the area so we went last minute in hope to get a table. The restaurant is small but not on top of one another. I really can't rate this place enough. The food was absolutely lovely. We had a platter starter which was plentiful and delicious. Mains were as lovely. Would definitely return. Atmosphere was good and staff really funny and helpful.

Came home to visit family and came to this restaurant... staff were brilliant! Totally up for making it a night to remember. The food was a taste infusion. I recommend the sea bass. Well worth a visit!

Absolutely great food, large portions, staff very friendly and attentive. The venison was superb and also recommend the Dragon Balls!

I've been here a few times now and have never found a fault with anything. Great food, friendly staff and a reasonable price. The portions are generous and the drink selection should cover most tastes. The pandan pancake for dessert is a winner. There is a car park opposite which is free after 6:30pm so handy if you are going for dinner. Can't recommend this place enough. You have to go.

My boyfriend and I ate here on our mission to try every restaurant in Hertford and this is without a doubt the best one we’ve eaten at! Thai is a favourite of mine and the dishes were surperb and so flavoursome and delicious. The staff were friendly and I don’t think I saw any of them without a smile. :-) this made the experience even more lovely and memorable. The decor is also tasteful, relaxing and atmospheric. I would really really recommend and look forward to eating here again soon!

we rang up on a Saturday a few weeks ago to book a table they told us we could have 9pm when we arrived a few people was saying to us it was to busy and the service was very slow,we heard people moaning to staff about the waiting time,we did give them a chance the food was good but i think they book to many people in and can not cope on a bust saturday night,but it was nice food but would think twice about booking again on a saturday,maybe a week night would be better.

We came here on Saturday with our family and a friend. We arrived on time and had to wait 30 minutes for a drink. We had to wait 45 minutes for our food order to be taken. When the starters arrived it was delicious. Main course arrived eventually with an item missing which didn’t get served until the rest of us had finished. Again food was good. Disappointed.

Decided rather than a Sunday roast we would go for a Thai, arrived early (6ish) so enjoyed the service all to ourselves, the lamb shank in coconut curry was delicious and the prawn tempura in sweet and sour was a welcome change to a Chinese style sweet and sour. The service was excellent it was nice to receive a friendly welcome and even though I was ridiculed for drinking pink water (what I fancied a strawberry and lime Koperberg!!!) all of the staff were brilliant, who doesn’t like a bit of light hearted banter.

Out of the three thai restaurants we now have in Hertford, we always go back to the Baan Thitiya. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, the food is always excellent and fresh and their wine list is small but very good.

An array of five dishes -- softshelled crab, two noodle dishes, two curries -- arrived almost simultaneously (exactly as we had requested it). Each dish exhibited individual attention to detail, and all excelled in quality (flavour, texture). What a professional kitchen! The quality of the frying of the crab, for example, was superior to most versions we have tasted in London. Also: passionfruit sorbet is a knockout.

4 of us visited on a Sunday night and ordered a number of dishes to share. All of the food was incredibly tasty and fresh, and nothing was wasted. Service was prompt and the staff were very friendly. We will all be returning!

This restaurant only 7 min walk from Hertford North train station (so accessible from North London for those who want to try somewhere different) is a hidden gem. The standard and quality of food surpasses many of the west end restaurants with a good choice of both the expected dishes and a few 'special' which re frame Thai dishes. Added bonus - NOT west end prices. Having made a Friday night booking , we walked in on time and approached the bar then stood awkwardly for several minutes whilst completely ignored by a lady staff member. Eventually a man who appears to be the boss greeted us and we were seated. I cant remember having had such a poor greeting in any proper restaurant. The positives were the manager and a young waitress were lovely, the interior was a little tired but in a quaint way and certainly pleasent. As a guide , we had a lovely bottle of blush Pino Grigio which was £21 and the food was not expensive.Sadly the table service included the manager topping up my wine whilst completely ignoring my lady dining partner's glass for no reason. This was such bad manners that we were able to smile over it , I dont know why he did that but I'm sure it was an oversight.The Duck and Coconut curry was like water and the duck was like something boiled with no taste. I tried my dining partners Thai Chicken curry and it looked and tasted almost identical.My spicy drunken noodles were so mushy and overcooked I got the impression they might be out of a packet.My reviews are varied but always honest and Im sorry to have to say the food completely missed the boat for me. This is the first visit to this restaurant for a few months for us and we thoroughly enjoyed both the food and the service. The food is fresh and well cooked and the wine list was good. The service from staff was pleasant and welcoming and we had a nice table in the restaurant. Recommended.

Small restaurant, so it's a good idea to book in advance. Food and service top class. We will definitely be back
