What a delightful find! We stumbled upon Khunnai Thai Cuisine during a Saturday drive to Hertford, and we're so glad we did. The cozy ambiance drew us in, and the lunch set menu did not disappoint. From the Pad Thai Chicken with Crispy Tofu to the Mixed Seafood Chilli Basil with Jasmine Rice, every dish was bursting with flavor. The Chicken Coconut Soup (Tom Kha) was a soothing addition, and the Fried Ice-cream for dessert was the perfect sweet ending. The prices were reasonable, and the rum and coke with sparkling water complemented our meal perfectly. The service was exceptional - the lady who attended to us was welcoming and always wore a smile. We're already planning our next visit, especially since there's free parking at the back and we want to explore the River Lee just a stone throw from the restaurant. Highly recommended! 🍜🌟

We stumbled across this place on our Sunday walk. The food was very good as was the service. My only gripe is that there was nowhere to dry my hands after washing them in the bathroom.

I wouldn’t take my worst enemy here!!! Thai green curry with “Thai pea aubergine” - they served it with captain birdseye petit poi’s?!? Absolute terrible * avoid and go monkey bar down Tenerife!!!!!!!

We had a takeaway here and was very disappointed. My chicken noodle dish was very bland and my spring roll/ribs portion was very stingy considering the amount they cost.

Food wasn't great at all it was microwaved...and people say this place is good..if you want to pay high price for microwaved food go ahead very disappointed...also very unwelcoming

Enjoying my Tofu Mussaman curry and sticky rice. Absolutely delicious. Tofu lovely and chewy, potato perfect, rice excellent. Great service too.

We had our usual choices but both observed that the standard was below that of previous visits.

Went here on 12/07/23 with my partner, we cannot fault this place. The food was amazing 10/10. Will definitely be going back.

Delicious Thai Food and great service

Something has changed on my takeaway today. Portions have really decreased (in all dishes. Only 4 gyoza?) and the curries have barely any sauce and arent as nice. Was our go to takeaway and wondering if something has changed or a new chef has started. Really disappointed.

I recently moved from Stanstead Abbotts, a beautiful little village in the valley of the river Lea. At the end of the high street is this quaint little Thai restaurant that I used to walk by and always said to myself "Before I leave this village, I will book a table and have a meal" So said so done. On the afternoon of my move, I asked if they had a table available (on the spot) which they did not hesitate to give me. The restaurant has 2 sections, the front is the largest. I was given a table at the back, as I'm assuming the other tables were reserved. The menu is vast, bright and colourful, with a touch of personal personality and the price points were within my budget, plus I was giving myself a treat. I ordered 4 dishes: 1. Pad Thai chicken & Ginger dish, which I thought came with noodles, but didn't 2. Crispy sweet and sour beef 3. Thai Green curry 4. Coconut rice This was accompanied by a medium size glass of Lemonade with a slice of Lemon for garnish. The Presentation was nicely served on white plates which made the colours of the food stand out. I had two waitresses, MiMi looked after me the most and frequently asked if all was well as I ate. I was quite hungry, so she said no rush. The decore in the back of the restaurant was embellished with potted plants, hanging from the ceiling with, faux red leather benched seating and whitewashed brick walls. Where I sat (at the back) felt slightly cut off from the main hub of the restaurant, which did affect my overall experience, albeit I was grateful to be given a table, at such short notice, so I reframed that circumstance. I could hear chatter in the busy kitchen, as takeaway orders, were going out, as well as seated reservations. BACK TO THE FOOD: All dishes were served hot and well presented. My Thai curry was in a bowl, that almost tipped over, not sure if that was my haste or the design of the bowl. This tasted exquisite. The flavours bounced around my pallet and the chicken was so succulent and morrish with a touch of heat! As I stated earlier, from the illustration on the menu I ordered Pad Thai, which I assumed was a noodle dish, yet when it arrived it was just chicken and ginger in a sauce. There must have been a miscommunication when I was making my order...Never mind, I had enough in front of me and wondered if "my eyes were too big for my belly"! The crispy beef was OK, a little chewy! and the coconut rice was a delight. All in all, I was full and the meal satisfied my hunger. In reflection, if I was to order all over again, I would have ordered x2 THAI GREEN CURRY and I would have been happy, The bill was brought to my table promptly, after I asked for it in a nice golden ornate-looking bowl, accompanied by two pearl mints (nice touch) Now for the hard part.." The Bill" I was pleasantly surprised to pay £38.35, that afternoon, excluding a service charge (not sure if that was because I was eating alone or what) If I were to give my whole experience of dining at Khunnai Thai Cuisine a mark out of Ten, I would grade it 7/10. Room for improvement: The decore in the back part of the restaurant, maybe some soft Thai music, Change the colour of the deep red Faux leather seating to something more tropical looking, Maybe an extension for outside dining, at the back (during summer) and a little less NaCl. Comments are given all in goodwill. Thank you for a tasty meal. I would definitely eat at Kuhnnai Thai Cuisine and bring my friends or family along...Next time I will book a table for the front of the restaurant, which appeared to be a more open-plan layout with a buzzing atmosphere.

First time i have eaten here and will be back went with four friends that had been before and recommended food was excellent and so was the service. my wife and i had a set meal as we where not sure what to order and made a great choose if you have not been before this is a good way to try several dishes.

The worst take away food we had . We’ve spent £45 and we couldn’t eat any of it, Soggy prawns and watery food . Such a disappointment!

Always a lovely meal at Khunnai. There is a great selection of food to choose from. We've tried many of the dishes over the years and can't fault them. The staff are always pleasant and helpful.

Always tasty food, friendly service, weeping tiger and hot and sour chilli fish being my favourite dishes. I keep on going back.

Found this Thai many years ago regular visits never get tired of going staff are always the best friendly helpful and caring always made to feel special enjoy every visit as the first food is awesome our favourite place to be Staff are always do helpful and always go the extra mile to ensure they help us to have the best I always ask them to change my meal a bit and never too much trouble. Visited on Tuesday evening. The meal was superb and a varied menu to choose from. Staff very polite and helpful. Very reasonable priced food and drink. Car park a the back of the restaurant, but a bit hard to enter it. There is parking outside on the road and a public car park around 2 min walk away.

I don't like to leave negative reviews but felt I had to ,from reading previous reviews was looking forward to visiting took our two children on Friday night . The lady serving us was so miserable she made the visit really uncomfortable ,she didn't smile once ,she was very cold .Very strange also when she brought the food over she just held it there so we would put it in the table she didn't put one dish down herself on the table . Also the food wasn't the best and to top it of a bottle of savigion was £30 . The bill came to 115 for 2 adults two children I felt this was on the higher side for what we had and especially as the service was so poor .we will not be returning which we are gutted about as it would have been our local Thai and as thai is our favourite food we would have be regular customers unfortunately we will not be customers now .

I highly recommend this restaurant. The food is amazing and so beautifully presented. Not only that Mimi from the restaurant was able to suggest dishes for us after taking the time to discover what flavours and food we enjoyed. Everything we chose was from the sharing starter with the amazing dips, the tamarind duck and seafood dish right through to the wine and service was impeccable. We are already planning our next visit.

Me and my family had a lovely evening out at Khunnai's Thai Restaurant. We were served by the lovely Mimi, she was so kind and polite and put up with our indecisive ordering! I had the delicious Panang curry with coconut rice. It was so falvourful and filling for a very good price. As well as this the service was impecablly fast and we didn't have to wait more the 3 minutes when we ran out of a bowel of rice. The atmosphere was so peaceful and complimented every part of the stay. Thoroughly recommend, will come again. 😁

I had heard good reviews so was really looking forward to my visit. I had fasted and was very hungry on arrival. Unfortunately we did not receive a warm welcome and very little in the way of service or interest. Staff were not visible for most of our visit. Due to an allergy we enquired and were told there were no carrots in the dish we ordered. It was served with a large carrot carving on the plate and the parcels also contained carrot. We removed these so as not to make a fuss. The fishcakes didn't have much flavour and were very squeaky to eat, did not seem at all fresh. Other dishes were Ok, but the chicken did not seem to have any flavour. I should have told the staff but did not feel they were that approachable. One dish tasted of nothing but salt and kept me drinking water for couple of hours afterwards - most unpleasant. At the end of the meal we were asked to pay cash as the machine was out of action, but we did not have enough to cover this. We were then asked to provide our card details so they could call another branch to make payment. We declined and asked for their details so we could make payment. Unfortunately I won't be repeating this experience unless someone tells me that the food and staff have changed. Customer service was non-existent and the quality of some of the food was not good at all. A shame as looking at reviews, some people do have a good experience here.

Such a shame, for the village, this used to be very good. Our starter platter was missing all the sauces, so everything very dry and tasteless. I phoned to complain and was told I would have to travel there again to collect the missing items, no offer of a small refund, so we had paid for items we didn't receive. My Mum had the 'Virgin Curry' which looked awful, not as per menu! It was in such a watery sauce, not mild and creamy. My PadThai was a solid block. We won't be using again.

We were lucky to get a table as many people were turned away tonight. The food was absolutely delicious, but the most outstanding thing was the lovely young man working in the restaurant he was absolutely enjoying his work, he made everyone feel special, not overbearing just charming. Ellie don’t let this one go he is a great asset and has a bright future ahead. If he was my son I’d be very proud of him.

Visited with my daughter and we had an excellent meal. Food was delicious and generous portions. Service was different class. Young Jake is not only super polite and very attentive, his knowledge of the different dishes in the menu is very impressive.

I think the owners have changed, perhaps about a year now? Recently, I phoned for a pick up order. The woman over the phone wasn’t exactly the most polite. Heads up, the menu online isn’t the same anymore. First of all, I wanted a Bento box from the lunch menu and they don’t offer this anymore. I also tried to order fish cake appetisers and was told they only do them in the evening, which I personally find bizarre. The food wasn’t that great. Safe to say, I will not return.

Although my husband and I enjoyed the food, our friends were not at all impressed. They ordered pad tai and the dish was nearly all bean sprouts. She said the chicken was bland. The other was a prawn dish with just 3 prawns in it....

This is a lovely building but food and indifferent service let it down. The starter platter was tasty but the mains were far too salty. The Thai sticky rice was inedible and when we complained, were told it was meant to be like that ! It was still in a boil in the bag and you could have repointed a wall with it. Don't have the coffee - cheap and weak. So even though we told the server about the rice and the coffee, we were charged for both. We did not leave a tip and would not return.

Good value authentic food, friendly efficient service. Worth the journey from Romford. Unfortunately I think we are a bit outside of their delivery area because would certainly have takeaway from here. We will be making more trips out to enjoy their restaurant.

Really friendly, helpful staff and delivery driver. — Just ordered a collection from this place and forgot that I’d written a review previously. But feel I need to come back on here and say how truly delicious and authentic this place is. Is is up there challenging the best Thai restaurants in London, and even the restaurants in Thailand too. Very kind staff. Very welcoming. Beautiful interior too, with fairy lights and lots of beautiful Thai trinkets. Very romantic inside - if I didn’t have a boisterous 6 year old I would be dining in regularly! Thank you!

We ordered our food at 7pm for 8.30pm delivery we thought that would be sufficient considering they had 90mins to prepare..... we rang at 9pm. So 30mins later than the delivery time we find out from background discussions that our delivery wasnt even started to...

Oh dear what a huge disappointment, we have had better Thai food from Tesco. Very poor quality, cheap and nasty and I find it very hard to believe that the food delivered tonight came from a professional restaurant kitchen. Needless to say we won't order from them again.

Had takeaway and went back the next night. The food was hot and still hot when I got home. The curries are so tasty and the chicken coconut soup is delicious.

My friends and I visited here last night and I’m just so disappointed… and hungry!! .. I had the chilli & basil stirfry and all it tasted of was salt, I couldn’t eat it. I only had one or two bites, and I can still...

Rude. Unwelcoming. We arrived to be seated in the hall way where people wait for their takeaways, the phone rings constantly and much to the lady’s surprise when I asked if we could sit somewhere else (the resteraunt was not full) she ignored me. I asked again and she shouted “one minute”, rude and as if I was not a paying customer. The pineapple rice was clearly shown as in a half pineapple, it arrived as a plate of normal rice with pineapple chunks and frozen carrots barely cooked through. Why have photos and numbers next to the photos if it looks nothing like the photo… setting yourself up for failure straight away. We asked if we could have the tamarind duck with sauce on the side… nope, not possible.. okay then, sorry for asking. The Curry was pure water, no substance and the beef inside it was the type you get at a chinese takeaway, not soft, tough and chewy. The microwave out back kept pinging as well? That was quite distracting, maybe look at cooking things fresh rather than reheating yesterday’s. Lastly the £84 bill was brought out (for two of us) only to find we had other peoples dishes on our bill as well. By this point this place is an absolute joke. Uncomfortable; awkward service and out and out rude.

Not the greatest meal. We were called an hour before our booking to see if we could come 15 mins earlier so I had an idea we'd be rushed. We got our starters very quickly so asked for a break before our mains but this wasn't possible(!) We tried to explain we'd only just eaten our starters but they still brought the mains so we gave up and tried to enjoy the meal. However the chicken noodle dish was awful, tasted reheated and not nice. The rest of the meal was okay.

This place always has lovely food, freshly prepared. Had many brilliant nights out at their restaurant. However, this evening was my first experience ordering for delivery, which I did online. Food arrived within time and we were thrilled... Until we realised that one of our dishes that should have been tofu, was chicken. We immediately called them to explain and wanted a new one sent out. The lady who answered said oh sorry we'll give you a free dish next time. Considering that one of our group couldn't eat any of the other dishes because they contain meat, this was unacceptable. When we said we wanted another dish now, they tried to insist that we needed to collect the order and they would not be delivering. As the error was theirs, I was absolutely astonished that they expected us to collect it. After a 5 minute phone call, they reluctantly agreed to deliver the dish. Honestly didn't expect them to have such appalling customer service.

Horrendous service, I entered the restaurants at 7pm, received adequate starters 20 minutes later. Nothing special! By 9pm we still hadn't received our main, in the end we had no choice but to walk out as our young children had to eat. Only 5 for dinner, this restaurant couldn't accommodate us. Shame on you!

Well what can I say, well it was terrible Starters came out after a bit of a wait then all the staff disappeared and then waited for 2 hrs and one Thai lady appeared with some plates then reappeared 15 minutes later came back and changed the plates for new hot plates then nothing for ages so we found the Thai lady and asked for the bill. No apology no food nothing never will I go to this place again they spend to much time sending out the take away orders than worrying about the people in the restaurant so please don't waist your evening at this place you will be very disappointed.

Started off well, the restaurant is quaint and well located. The starters arrived promptly and we're ok. However, it went rapidly downhill from there. After eating our starters we ordered our main dishes, which after a hour had still not arrived. Be warned this restaurant also is a takeaway and it seems that it can't cope. The staff are non existent, so after an hour I asked for the bill and left. The manager gave a complimentary bottle of wine, which I gave to one of my party as I don't drink wine. All in all I would never come back. The food, or should I say the starters as the main meals never arrived, were ok but nothing to write home about. There are much better Thai restaurants within easy reach I suggest you try those first.

After having a great takeaway from here during lockdown we decided to visit now that we are allowed. It was amazing lovely food with good portion sizes and with great service. The lady was super friendly and great with our son. Can’t wait to back...

First time getting takeaway here, absolutely fantastic. Great on the phone, helped us order some off menu items including an insanely hot papaya salad that took us right back to the beach in Kho Samui. Starters were great, mains were excellent. Can’t fault it. Will be eating their food again!

Placed an order on Just Eat as it said restaurant was open until 22:30 on Saturday nights. Payment was taken for the order but order was not confirmed. No answer when calling the restaurant so now having to jump through hoops with Just Eat just to get the payment back. Now all other places are shut and we have been left hungry and unable to order anything in.

Terrible food. Never again. Ordered food on a Saturday night to pick up. Got a call to say it was 30 minutes late. My son went to pick it up and they said it was on its way to deliver. I ordered chicken satay which was raw. Tempura vegetables with were like marshmallow. Crispy fried tofu. That was soo overcooked and tasted terrible. Vegetable pad Thai that arrived with chicken in! Rice was dry and crispy. Really really awful. We have sent back and would never order again. Really bad quality. I now Feel Quite sick. Terrible terrible food. Do not waste your money. Would give 0 if I could

Decided to try this restaurant for takeaway as never tried before. Was advised the food would take 15 minutes and it was ready as soon as we arrived. My initial thoughts were either not busy or is good food made that quickly!? The food was very average and overall I was disappointed with the quality and lack of authentic flavour. My som said his special fried rice was no better than the microwave pouches sold in supermarkets. Maybe I have been eating from many really good establishments in recent months, and this average place could not compete at high level.

Fantastic tasting food, lovely smiling lady to serve and everything spotlessly clean. Shame about second lockdown, I was going to urge all of you to try their amazing 2 course deal, only £7.95 ish and the taste and presentation was beautiful. Not tiny either. I so hope this restaurant can survive the current circumstances as it really deserves to thrive. Thank you for a super lunch.

Ordered a take away this evening. Given a 1.5 hour time slot. After 1.45 hours rang the restaurant and was rudely told that I had to wait for at least 30 minutes to another hour. When I said that was terrible service the lady was terribly, terribly rude and THEN put the phone down on me!!! This is shocking, shocking service. DO NOT USE THEM!

Good choice on lunch menu. We had the 2 courses options, 2 people eating, one had g and t, bill was £20, which I think is good value. Efficient service. The chicken satay and Pad tail are excellent. Parking nearby

First time of using this restaurant for a take away. Delivery was well within the time advised was initially a good sign. The food was tasty but it was let down by the portion sizes, which were very meagre. Expensive for what it was. The 'tempura' prawns, were not tempura, but breadcrumbed (ala Iceland). In terms of value for money 4/10. Probably won't use it again.

Just been to eat here. Fabulous food and service. Suesi and the team couldn’t do anymore for us, even though it was quite busy the food came to our table quickly and piping hot. Will definitely be back. Mmm.

We were so looking forward to our delivery dinner . However when it arrived it was cold and they had forgotten one main meal . Not only was the food cold it did not look very appetising . Such a shame when I had had a wonderful meal at the Hertford Elles kitchen on Wednesday . Unfortunately we had to send the meal back . The food was nice in here but we waited 30 minutes to be asked our menu choice. The restaurant is very small and intimate and a bit overcrowded in these Covid times.

Good service and very good food

The food was spot on i ordered a .mixture of traditional sides and ribs (cooked perfectly) however I was shocked at the bill especially when evaluating the portion size. I chose to come here due to the government subsidy scheme where restaurants can claim up to 50% of however i was informed they was not partaking in this once I had ordered on a Wednesday night. This was surprising and once comparing the food to alternative Thai restaurants in Hertfordshire; i concure that the food was okay to good however the prices were absurd.

Ordered via just eat. Our first experience. Very good quality, amazing ingredients and flavours. But portions seemed a bit small? You could add some rice or vegetables.

I wouldn't even give one star for tonights service. Firstly couldn't find our reservation. Ordered drinks and food about 20 minutes after arriving. Then after 45 minutes still no drinks and apparently food order hadn't even gone to kitchen. Complained and left. Will not be returning.

Great food and service at a reasonable price. The lunchtime deal is fantastic value and just round the corner!
