Tatlers in Norwich

We have just had the most amazing lunch, we were party of 6, wine perfectly matched with our meal, fat juicy mussels followed by the most delicious ox checks that just melted, with fab chips, finished off with the most delightful chocolate mousse & passion fruit sorbet, pure joy. We could not fault the service and delicious meal, in the centre of stunning city of Norwich Femi & Belinda are the fabulous hosts

What a beautiful experience for my birthday. Lovely atmosphere, very delicious food and fabulous staff. Top class from start to finish. I would highly recommend.

I contacted Belinda in March to enquire about booking the private space upstairs for our wedding reception following our registry office wedding nearby. From contact Belinda was a joy to deal with and was more than happy to accommodate our party of 15 (outside of usual working hours). Nearer the time I met with Femi the head chef who went over menu options and understood our needs. Shortly after, sending us a beautiful menu with lots of options to choose from (we pre ordered due to the size of our party) and we went for a 5 course menu. Thereon, all of the plans were in place, the room was decorated perfectly (just as I had envisaged) and table had been laid with great detail. Belinda and Femi accommodated our allergy needs with no bother at all and catered for the children we had in the party. Everyone absolutely loved their food and really couldn't fault a single thing. The service from Belinda and Paulo on the day was calm, professional and no request was too much bother. This private space has a bar area for drinks and canopies and private loo's as well, so this space is very contained for any event. The large windows let in lots of light so really makes this space feel quite special. I would highly recommend this space and team for your private event or just a lunch/dinner, we will certainly be back (even if its just for a dinner for 2) and recommending this to friends and family. An amazing experience, the food, wine and staff all wonderful. Family owned and run, a touch of magic and class back in Norwich.

Visited for our monthly book club meal on Thursday evening and were excited to hear of the new owners and reopening. Unfortunately it did not live up to expectations. Pros: service was great, friendly although we felt rushed to place our orders. Bread and oils and a canapé prior to ordering was a nice touch. The cheesecake - could have had 2 it was so nice. Great selection of wines. Cons: no atmosphere, only our table of 5 and a table of 2. No music in the background. The room was very cold, 2 electric heaters were placed near our table but a draft could be felt coming from the front door. The toilets again were freezing cold, although nice and clean. The food, the steak just did not taste right to me. The mushrooms were dry and chewy. Menu VERY limited and VERY pricey. I feel Tatlers are trying to be ‘fine dining’ but unfortunately when you’re sitting there eating a £40 steak with your coat on, it just doesn’t feel very ‘fine dining’.

Would highly recommend. The atmosphere, service and food were first class. From the white tablecloths to the little touches which make your visit memorable. Will definitely return. We had the set menu for lunch and it was extremely good value for high quality food and presentation. Well done.

First impressions of the newly refurbished restaurant were very positive. Beautiful clean sparkling wine glasses, cutlery and fresh table linen. Food was nicely presented and we all enjoyed what we had ordered.

Lovely warm and welcoming atmosphere with great service. Excellent dinner, the flavours in each dish were delicious. The best meal we’ve had in a while. Highly recommend and we look forward to returning soon.

Was really looking forward to visiting an old favourite re opening and it was disappointing. The service was very slow. They didn't come to take our drinks order until after they brought us bread and oil and the canapé. They were then ages coming to take our food order. We decided not to have a starter but ordered olives to go with the bread, mainly because of time. We both ordered the Hake. It looked beautifully presented with mussels, clams, tiger prawn and samphire but, apart from the fish, everything was stone cold. It had clearly been sitting for ages waiting for the fish to be cooked. My portion had a lot of bones in it. No one came to ask how our food was and the first opportunity we had to tell them was when they came to clear. The reaction was less than apologetic and we were just asked if they could get us something else. Apart from the fact it was getting late and we had a taxi booked, we were passed wanting anything. It would have been nice to have something knocked off the bill but we were charged the full amount.

I was so pleased to see that this well loved Norwich restaurant had opened again .I was sadly wrong.Linda and I booked for 7.45 When we arrived it looked so lovely to see the white linen napierie. We took our seats and waited and waited and decided nor to have a first course as our cab would arrive before we had finished .The wine waiter served our wine and remarked on the fact that our table was unbalanced and he would fix it immediately.We nibbledsone bread and olives and then our main course arrived ,the presentation was lovely but sadly the food was cold I think that accessories to the fish had been plated up for some time an d once the fish was cooked it was placed on the plate, sadly also there were bones in one off the portions of fish.We made the front of house aware that we were not happy an d we were asked if we would like something else but sadly by this time so much time ha d passed that we would have missed our cab.Our bill arrived and I pointed out to the wine waiter that our table still wobbled and was totally ignored

Excellent evening at this old haunt taken over by the well known Norwich name Femi and his lovely wife Belinda. The ambience, professionalism and friendliness all added to a perfect evening. My son and I thoroughly enjoyed every delicious course we ordered and the surprising extras that just made it very unique. This distinctive chef has made his mark in various establishments and Norwich is lucky to have him back in this gorgeous historic building. Thankyou so much! See you very soon!

Great to see Femmi and Belinda back in the centre of the Norwich food scene. Faultless three course lunch of mussels, beef cheek and treacle tart. So much choice in Norwich but not much quality at this level. Good value, great service and food.

So excited to discover that Tatlers has reopened and that Femi and his partner Belinda are the new owners. Femi is an incredible chef and it’s clear to see that he has all the talent and passion to make Tatlers the go- to dining place in Norwich. We went for lunch and had the set three course meal. The building is gorgeous and has a very luxurious feel to it. The front of house staff were very friendly and welcoming and the service was exceptional. We were given an amuse bouche as well as some beautiful home baked bread and dipping sauce. All three courses were fantastic, both in presentation, flavour and skilful blend of ingredients. Value for money was insanely good at just under £25 a head for all three courses. Would urge people to support this newly reopened restaurant as it deserves to succeed. We will definitely return.

My wife and I went for lunch earlier this week as part of a day out in Norwich. A lovely location near to the cathedral and both the food and service were excellent. The steak I had was cooked to perfection, which for such a large chunk of meat was quite an accomplishment. Service was attentive, but never intrusive. We would certainly go again and would recommend for a special lunch (it was our wedding anniversary). Thanks Tatlers.

We wanted a proper lunch and we are delighted to have found Tatlers. Our lunch was delicious, beautifully presented in a delightful setting. The chef is a treasure! Our thanks to all the staff for their attentive service and we look forward to visiting again soon.

We dined here after booking at a different restaurant that had a power cut. In the end we were glad that our plans changed because the food, wine and service was fantastic. We will be back.

I previously came here in February 2020 and I had a good tasty meal but found the service amateurish. I like to give places a second chance so I duly revisited a month ago. I needed extra time to consider my menu choices, and it took ages for the waiter to return to take my order. Similarly getting a second glass of wine was a challenge. I had to leave my table to get the bill and the wine prices quoted didn't tally with the menu. I pointed out this error to the waitress. Needless to say there was no need to leave a tip - £39.50 was enough to pay, all things considered. I don't expect to be asked how my meal is etc., but being generally ignored when I was the only indoor diner was disappointing. Such a shame as the steak was very good and a decent portion size. Interestingly the staff seemed to be preoccupied with a gentleman sitting outside with a bowl of chips - not sure if this was the proprietor or a regular...

Tatlers is easily one of my favourite places in Norwich. The range of wines is excellent and made even better by how knowledgable the staff are! I always come back to Tatlers because it has amazing service as well as excellent quality and price. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for an upmarket wine bar in the city!

I'm the one who never orders fish in restaurants, as none of them met my expectations in the past. I ordered skate at Tatlers believing it will be again disappointing dish. And tadaaaah!!! It wasn't!!!!! So, finally I found restaurant where I can order a fish with no hesitate 😊😊 well done chef 👍🏽👍🏽

Thanks to Tatlers for accommodating 13 hungry people in their side room where we could make a little noise and have a lot of fun. The food was excellent and well priced, the service was very good and we had a great time. We'll head back there when we're in Norwich again

Looked like a decent seafood restaurant but tuned out not to be. No oysters, no mussels, no prawns, no crab no prawns. The only seafood was scallops - nothing wrong with scallops but they were over cooked - no roe and covered in a puree. The food bears no resemblance to the photos on the site. The available food was cheap and cheerful. Luckily there was a decent bottle of Rioja Reserva on the wine list. We asked for a table by a window - told they were reserved - but no one sat there whilst we ate our meals and polished off a couple of bottles Red.

We went for a day trip to Norwich last week, and spotted Tatlers as we were passing by, and what a great find it was! The place it self is beautifully decorated and has a warm feel to it. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, the waiter who served us was lovely and really helpful and had time to chat to us. What made it really special was the owner of Tatlers came up to us and chatted to us and gave us a bit history to Tatlers, he was a really lovely and a friendly guy! They have the best wines you can find and the food is yummy too! Wish we had found the place earlier on in the evening as we would have liked to stay longer! We had a small wedding dinner at Tatlers and I have to say Niall and his staff were brilliant in giving us a fantastic evening. If you want a private dinning room to host an event for up to approx 25 guests I would highly recommend Tatlers. They were a great help with our menu, with Glenn the chef being personally involved, and were only to happy to accommodate any of our requests. Glenn's food was superb and they really gave us a wedding celebration to remember. We look forward to going back for an anniversary meal!

Due to unfortunate circumstances, the restaurant was closed. We weren’t informed before we arrived at the door as we had booked in advance. The Chef was very apologetic but rather than turn us away he provided us with the amazing service and the delicious food. Honestly, it’s the best food we’ve ever had. My food palette has a new benchmark - sorry other restaurants it’s rather high. I actually thought this must be close to what it’s like to Michelin style food. This place was spot on and much improved. The food was outstanding, the location has always been great and now the service is on point.My wife and I went for valentines and from the moment we walked in, it was a night to remember. Welcome drinks promptly served, a choice of a drink before hand or to sit straight at our table was given. Drinks were served in style and then when it was obvious we were nearly ready, a keen eyed gentleman called Nile asked us ready to sit.The menu was walked through with a choice of matching wine flight (amazing value here compared to many other places I’ve been).Each course was served over just the right amount of time, not rushed or not to the point where we were ravenous for he next course. The server was really attentive, chatty when we engaged with her but balanced with leaving us to valentines night for the most part of the evening so again, perfect.The food was easily on par with either Stoke Mill, the Wildebeest or even comparable to Benedict’s (which for me is still the best in Norwich). Great presentation, delicate flavours and the Halibut was cooked to perfection....as was the duck.... the Ham hock etc.So, brilliant, attentive but not intrusive service, outstanding chef (who I did go and find at the end of the night, he was equally a really nice guy too) who pulled together an outstanding menu. Great wine matched well with the food, all of which made a really really enjoyable experience.If you haven’t been recently, give it another go, it really is that good.

Never having been here, we thought we'd give it a go! At first, I made the booking for 10 people and within minutes, 20 replied! So following lots of pleas for a bigger table, I called the restaurant and a wonderful young man, Niles, helped me out and was very accommodating in extending our booking as long as we pre ordered. The only disappointing bit was the a last carte menu is not available at lunch. The lunch menu is very nice, but limited in that there were no starters or desserts available, and some of our good friends like a bit of pudding at lunch! Although my mussels were fantastic, cooked to perfection and plumb and tender. The broth was gorgeous and lite. It came with tasty sourdough bread and was a perfect amount for me! There were a few comments that the food was gorgeous, but not generous in portion size! I would really like the management to recognize how accommodating Niles was, especially after making the larger book in, there were 5 poor ladies unwell and unable to attend, and the staff were absolutely lovely about. I would love to go back again for dinner sometime.

New decoration, brilliant new chef. Best front of house and best Dover Sole. A lovely way to spend a Friday afternoon.

We had a family Christmas dinner at Tatler’s and whilst it was a far from perfect evening my word it was entertaining and great fun.The food was excellent and there were no complaints. Large and delicious mussels to start followed by the excellent venison. Other dishes around the table were also enjoyed including the mushrooms and turbot.Our gluten free guests were also well catered for. Puddings included flour free chocolate cake and Christmas pudding which were very nice.A few things to be improved on, in particular having more wine in stock that’s on the menu. Having said that what we had was fabulous.Service was very friendly. Less than £70 a head so good value.

Very enjoyable meal. We had not reserved and there was a private party upstairs. No problem, they explained the situation, but it meant we had a quiet table downstairs. The service was good, if not very good, and the food (mussels and sea bass ) first class . Good wine list too

Having been forced to book a table at 7pm because the restaurant was "so busy" we arrived to an empty restaurant and the room in which we were seated never filled up, even though we stayed for about three hours. We were allowed to stay as long as we wished, which was a plus. The waiting staff were friendly but not hugely efficient. The food was mostly ordinary to bad, and massively overpriced for the quality. The only really acceptable dish was venison steak, which was nicely cooked, with some good elements, such as a cabbage-wrapped venison faggot, which the waitress failed to identify - I told here what it was. A starter of scallops was dreadful, charred and tasteless, and only notionally plural - there were one and a half scallops. Wild mushroom ditto, three mushrooms and couple of little bits, on burned toast. One of our party modestly praised the turbot, but it looked overcooked. Wine was quite good but again overpriced. This is not in the West End of London! I fear, despite the charming waiting staff, this restaurant is best avoided.

My husband and I treated ourselves to a romantic meal during a Christmas shopping trip. The restaurant is intimate and the staff are both friendly and attentive but subtle. The food is exceptional. I had beef croquettes with burnt onion puree followed by venison. My husband chose scallops with pork belly for the main. Delicious undersells it. We ordered a bottle of wine which turned out to be out of stock. The sommelier offers us another, more expensive bottle for the same price. Although it is not cheap, the quality is worth paying for. A very memorable meal.

Heard that the Genius (aka Glenn Curtis) is back so experienced his well known skills tonight on his return to Tatlets. We were not disappointed, far from it. The whole experience was a superb culinary delight. In the words of the immortal bard "I will be back"

Visited with my parents for a menu taster evening and I can honestly say it was incredible!! Five courses each equally as delicious as each other ranging from a goats cheese with tomato and onion salsa starter to pork belly to fish, finished with (what my mum described) as the best chocolate cake and cheese cake dessert ever. Best meal I’ve had in a very long time and will definitely be back. The new chef should be very proud of his work and I shall be referring all my friends, family and clients to this restaurant. The waiting staff were extremely friendly and accommodating also. Fabulous! Thank you all at Tatlers for an amazing pre birthday experience!! 5*

Kira was great, had the best service ive ever had. Felt comfortable, in the heart of the city. I came in, the atmosphere was welcoming & she serviced me straight away. Clean, kind & comfortable. Naill was so lovely

Ambos optamos por las vieiras y el budín negro, vieiras cocinadas a la perfección, y luego era rape, delicado y una porción de buen tamaño, y una fuente de pescado. No había habido entrega de mariscos ese día, por lo que era una mezcla de salmón curado, caballa, dorada y salmonete, todos frescos. Cada uno se servía en una cama de diferentes verduras que complementaban ese pescado, delicioso. Esto fue seguido por una tarta de melaza de jengibre que era la perfección y lo recomendamos a otros comensales que habían llegado después de nosotros, y una junta de quesos locales. En general, una delicia encantadora celebración de mediados de semana.

Vine aquí con mis padres y mi pareja para celebrar el cumpleaños de mi madre por la noche. Nuestro camarero fue extremadamente amable y atento y nos hicieron sentir muy bienvenidos. Todos comimos pescado para nuestros entrantes y platos principales: tuve las vieiras y el rape que estaban cocinados a la perfección, el mejor pescado que he probado en mucho tiempo. Luego recomendaría el flan de chocolate negro para el postre, ¡fue de ensueño! Luego, el restaurante le ofreció a mi madre un vaso de gaseosa de cortesía y le regaló a su postre una bengala que fue un toque agradable. Gracias por invitarnos, estamos ansiosos por volver!

My husband and myself were staying in Norwich for a long weekend and as we were staying in the hotel near this restaurant we decided to book online once seeing the good reviews on here.

Waiting staff were friendly and enthusiastic if a little inexperienced. The food and the wine were beyond compare and dinner was a lovely, tasty and satisfying experience

all I can say is this place gets better every time I visit! the rib of beef is out of this world and a nice glass of Rioja with it. staff friendly as always and they remembered the extra gravy without being asked. well done all round.

We booked a table last minute for Saturday evening as we were staying in Norwich overnight. This restaurant is delightful; low key and fairly small, but the wine list is good and the food delicious. A really good find.

A very warm welcome was given and the restaurant is nicely presented. Complimentary drinks were provided while we ordered. The food was fantastically cooked. 'Melt in the mouth' is definitely a good description. Great menu offerings and superb wine choices.

Visited tattlers a couple of months ago everything was fantastic , recommended it to friends who had the same response . Booked for July for my birthday and ended up so disappointed . The night started well with drinks and oysters in the bar area [lovely] then went to our table in the window again lovely .

My Wife and I had another fabulous Sunday Lunch at Tatlers again yesterday.

It’s not often that I feel moved to post on a review website, but in this case I felt our dining experience should be shared, to the credit of the lovely staff, exquisite food and sublime wine list at Tatlers.

We arrived for lunch and we were greeted by the two lovely waitresses. We asked if we could sit outside and enjoy a drink while we waited for the rest of our party to arrive, so they brought our drinks out to us. We had the three course Sunday lunch which was delicious. Beef cooked to perfection and very tasty. A good size portion with plenty of vegetables and delicious cauliflower cheese. The wines available here are fantastic and there is such a wide selection. After our delicious desserts we went back to the tables outside and enjoyed the ambience and watching the cycle race which was going on. It was nice that the owners had a friendly presence overseeing the restaurant. I really enjoyed it here!

We ate here Saturday evening. We had a lovely table in the far room next to the window.

Food was excellent, though some discrepancies in menu descriptions which we pointed out. Unfortunately our table was in a small side room, no other diners, no atmosphere we felt we were out of sight, out of mind and therefore service was slow.

Brilliant Sea Bream with a Rosti base and a simple butter sauce. Brilliant. Dan is a truly fantastic chef and Poppy rocks front of house.

well now i,ve been for Sunday lunch too, probably the best rib of beef ever! the cauliflower cheese was superb and rhubarb tarte tatin absolutely outstanding. all washed down with a bottle of juicy pinot noir from their extensive and interesting wine list. absolutely top hole!

We came here for Sunday lunch and they had a set lunch available which was a good selection of starters and main courses.

In terms of overall relaxed dining with great service, perfect hosts, a bold, imaginative menu and brilliant wine selection all experienced in a lovely high ceiling Georgian building then this is my favourite in Norwich.

Staff go above and beyond explaining wines etc . Food is second to none. Had Sunday lunch to die for starter main deserts. I think you will have to go long way to beat this place . Also spoke to owners and lovely people. Can't wait go back

El restaurante no estaba lleno, y me dieron un servicio atento en todo. Las raciones no son grandes, pero están bien presentadas y son sabrosas. Tuve el carbón ártico seguido de queso y galletas con oporto. Un agradecimiento especial al camarero que se aseguró de que tuviera una buena comida.

Anteriormente visité Tatlers hace aproximadamente un año con mi esposo y comí una comida hermosa con un excelente servicio atento. Visitamos este año el sábado de Pascua y la comida estaba bien, pero no tan bien presentada como recuerdo de nuestra última visita.

El excelente servicio, la deliciosa comida y la lista de vinos bien pensada hacen de Tatlers una visita obligada. Te recomiendo que les hagas una visita.

loco por los mariscos? Este es el lugar para ir, excelente comida, servicio super amable y bastante razonable. Muy buena carta de vinos. Muy recomendable. No puedo esperar para probar la nueva oferta de almuerzo del domingo.

We had not been to Tatlers for some years so were keen to see if it was the same as previous? The staff were pleasant enough but there were no entrees and no water brought to out table, shouldn’t really have to ask! The main courses arrived and the plate presentation was very underwhelming indeed, never a good start! It was cooked OK but didn’t inspire … We had to wait about 30 minutes for our deserts, which again were adequate but not memorable.

Spent a wonderful evening with a friend at Tatlers on a Friday night.

Our son took me and my husband for Mothers day lunch.It was the best motherday,s lunch i have ever had.No rush .We had all the time to enjoy a Buck Fizz before lunch.The owners and the staff could not have been more attentive.I had smoked salmon as a starter and my son and husband had Oysters.DELICIOUS.Followed by Roast Beef with the most delicious vegetables ,all cooked to perfection.The deserts were also amazing.We had the pear crumble and the black forest brownie.YUMMY.

Another top notch performance! This place just keeps on preforming well... If you want a relaxed Sunday lunch you've found it. We chose the rib of beef roast and was not disappointed. It was a full roast with all the trimmings coupled with an excellent wine choice, I'm a red meat main course person and loved it. This place goes the extra mile and are proud in what they do. Have been going to Tatlers for years and was so excited when I learnt they would be doing Sunday lunches.

I was fortunate enough to attend the first ever Sunday lunch opening of this restaurant, a regular haunt of mine.

The experience I am about to recount took place during lunch on the 12th December. So yes it was a couple of months ago now but it has taken some time for me and my fellow guests to recover from the abject shambles we experienced.

I came here with my Girlfriend for her Birthday. We were so impressed with the food, and the presentation. We really enjoyed our meal. The steak I had was cooked to perfection. Her Lobster Thermidor was delicious.

Lucky Norwich to have an independent restaurant of this quality. We couldn't fault it.

absolutely stunning job done on the old sea bass, customer service was impeccable (especially the waitress Martha) highly recommend, good atmosphere and absolute bangers

Had a lovely date night at Tatlers last night. A small but refined menu, each seafood dish was delicious. Have to also mention that the deserts are defiantly worth a taste if you're not already full from all the other scrumptious food! But what made our evening was the friendly service and warm atmosphere. A big thanks to our waiter Martha who kept smiling despite my boyfriend being picky and asking 10 different questions about the drinks (they have a large wine selection, alongside other spirit-based bar brinks available). Overall, great service and great food for a lovey dinner out.

We booked Tatlers after our review of this restaurant on tripadvisor. We really loved the ambiance. Nice dinner rooms. Casual admosphere. Loved the food. Fresh oysters and lax as starters, bream fillet and 1/2 lobster as mains. Lovely wine choices and great service. If we get back to Norwich, we definitely come back.

We held our Companies New Year Meal at Tatler's and had exceptional service from Andrew, Kira and Martha as well as experiencing excellent food from the chef/kitchen team. The atmosphere was relaxed and merry and you could not fault anything. We all had such a special evening and would definitely recommend Tatler's to anyone who hasn't as yet visited this wonderful establishment or indeed for customers to return (which we will).

Best seafood restaurant I’ve visited, the steaks all cooked as ordered and the lobster is the tastiest I’ve ever eaten.

Another great visit to Tatlers. We arrived early and were welcomed into the bar area for a pre drink where we were made very welcome. Once in the restaurant area, our food was very good and we were looked after very well but not overly so. We will be back in the new year.

Visited yesterday with my Dad who has visited many times. Not pretentious at all we were greeted by the waiter and were sat away from the noisy table which was nice. Service was very good did, we ate quite late but there was no hurry for us to leave the staff seemed very relaxed and the food was amazing. I had the monkfish and my dad has the surf and turf.

Warmly welcomed and made to feel totally at home. The food and wine was fantastic, made even more enjoyable by the friendly staff with recommendations as to the wines to have with each course. The bespoke cocktails made especially for us made this meal a real treat. Thank you to all for a lovely evening.

Fabulous little restaurant. Lovely Christmas dinner with an outstanding white chocolate mousse for dessert. The waiter was really friendly and tentative Best Christmas Dinner I've had to date. Will be going back for a meal in the near future. Thanks Tatlers. Acteon Group Ltd

Visited here on Saturday night, excellent scallops for starter then a delicious lobster thermidor (cheesy lobster for the uninitiated like me). My better half had pigeon and then the fillet steak. The service was great and the waitress was amusing and knowledgeable about Norwich. The whole place felt like a rather fabulous house party that we had been invited to. Thanks!

We visited here on the 11th December 18 for a business lunch and I have to say the food 1st class, mussels for starters, sea bass for mains and finished off with creame brûlée’s...the wine with our meal was very nice, a different wine list from other restaurants which was nice ...the owners were great and attentive for all our needs..
