Zzohanna Indian Cuisine in Huntingdonshire

Went for birthday with my partner and family. This is our favourite Indian and it didn’t disappoint. The service was quick and friendly the food was delicious and the portion sizes were just right. Would recommend booking as it’s not huge but the food is worth it.

I booked this for the Bowls club end of season get together. I was a little concerned that they wouldn’t cope with 18 people at once, however, I couldn’t have been more wrong. From our arrival spread over about 20 minutes to us leaving, we were looked after by the staff and were never without food or drinks. We chose to have a selection of starters picked by our hosts, and individually chose our main course and side dishes. Food was great and plentiful as was the service. As people began to leave to go home, two people came back in as their taxi was delayed. They were sat down and given coffee while they waited. Thank you Zzohanna, we will return as a team and I’m sure individually with our partners and friends. I recommend that you give this place a try.

Very poor experience food not the standard it used to be, staff did not seem interested its a shame used to be the place to go

Went to the zzohana in St Ives tonight was met at the door by an off putting waiter who hadn't any idea how to treat customers, and gave the impression he didn't want to be there, and after starters cleared plates while my wife was eating, the chicken on all 3 main courses was dry like it had been pre cooked I found the food expensive for the standard we received and there's plenty of Indian restaurants in the area of higher quality and less expensive, I definitely won't be going back, regardless of the many good reviews. Therfore I only give 2 stars on food alone I could probably give it 3.

Great choice, food and service. It was attentive and friendly but not intrusive. Food was delicious and a friendly atmosphere. Will be visiting again.

Awesome food and atmosphere. There are a lot of Indian restaurants in St Ives mainly offering the same fare, Zzohanas is a different dining experience being a little more intimate and some very different dishes.

I’m really disappointed to have been eating my naan bread and bite on something that nearly broke my tooth. To find it was a stone that was inside the naan. To then throw the naan away and take my chances with the curry to bite on something hard, inspect it thinking maybe it’s just a chicken bone. But no, was a piece of white plastic. The food tastes nice but I won’t be taking the risk and ordering from here again. Really disappointing, makes me wonder what else I could have eaten.

We had a lovely meal at ZZohanna. The restaurant was very busy but the staff were wonderful. All of our meals were delicious and we were so full, we took the leftovers home. We will be back and would happily recommend.

I am not a big fan of Indian Food. All the carried taste the same onion bhaji are hard rocks of over spiced onion. But not here. The onion bhai was so tasty and lovely crisp outer. The curries had lovely tasty mild spices. And the naan bread AMAZING. Service was excellent. Can't rate it highly enough. Wish we lived in St Ives.

Managed to get an early table on a Friday evening without booking whilst staying in St. Ives, which was lucky. Glad that we did as the curry and service was first class. Went for your standard Rogan Josh and Korma and both were very good indeed. Highly recommended.

Well very disappointed nowhere to the usual high standards has been a while since having a takeaway from here but expect it to be as high quality as previous times? Rice was barely warm and both meals very bland oh dear will not use again for a while.

Went last week, it was my second visit. The quality of the meal was very poor when we asked about this we were told that the chef was on holiday... I ordered a glass of French red wine and was served what was evidently a south Amercian wine of inferiour quality, when I complained I was given a dicount. I just don't like it when waiters fob me off with things of lower quality.

My husband and I visited with our adult son, prompted by good reviews. We were not disappointed. The restaurant has a lovely ambience, looking over the river too. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and the food was excellent. My husband particularly enjoyed the mixed Pathia, one of the best he's ever tasted! We would not hesitate to return when next visiting our son.

Had early dinner here twice before going to see some live music at the Corn Exchange. Both times we had excellent food. All the meals were delicious, and the mushroom rice was the best I have ever tasted. Menu is varied and wine prices fairly...

Well located restaurant near famous St Ives bridge and quay with generous portions of excellent food, reasonably priced, served by friendly staff. All the various vegetables in the veg curry were identifiable by sight and taste. The Peshwari naan in particular was outstanding: soft, fluffy...

Scorching hot evening in St Ives. Luckily found Zzohanna down by the river. Air-conditioned, clean and welcoming. I had the Balti and my wife the Biryani - both delicious with generous portions at a very reasonable price. Thanks - we hope to come back.

We had an overnight stop in St Ives, a local recommend the Indian, it was superb. Friendly staff, great food, good quantities. The cost for 4 of us, was excellent value. Only wish we lived near enough to go back again, clean, light, modern decor,...

Really friendly staff. The service was very good. The food was almost great. But the chef doesn't know how to cook chicken. Every dish had chicken that was so tough and over done, it just took the edge off. This place really deserves five stars...

I was first brought here pre-covid by a friend and we went as a group. It was absolutely fantastic!! The food is brilliant, the service is impeccable and I absolutely rank it as the best curry house in the area.

Ordered a takeaway for the first time and it was delicious. We had mixed kebab, chicken Kori Gassi, Lamb Naga, chicken biryani and Bombay aloo. The Naga was very spicy just how I expected and the Kori was very flavoursome. By far the best local...

Have just moved to St.Ives so first Indian takeaway from here. Food arrived within the 30 mins promised and was piping hot. Delivery driver was very aware of COVID rules and extremely polite. Wonderful food enjoyed by all the family. Will definitely order again.

We ordered a takeaway by phone and were delighted with the speed at which the food was then promptly delivered in approx 20 mins. The delivery man was friendly and took appropriate social distancing precautions.We ordered a vegetable korma and vegetable bhuna with pilau rice and a cheese naan and garlic naan. The korma was excellent in regards to flavour and the quantity of veg. I had never tried a bhuna before so it was a bit spicy for me but the flavour was nice. Overall very happy with the experience and would order again. ☺️

It was a lockdown take away but what a great meal. Ready bang on time and beautifully prepared and really tasty - A meal for two and one vegetarian fresh straight from the pan. Difficult times for all restaurants but glad we went here.

We recently have a take away from the Zzohanna, it was perfect. The food was pipping hot, tasty and plenty of it. Just as good as eating in the restaurant only thing missing was the friendly staff who always make us feel like old friends. Looking forward to our next take away and returning to the restaurant SOON.

Stumbled across this great restaurant and had one of the most delicious Indian meals I have ever experienced. I just wish that I didn’t live 200 miles away!! Highly recommend, particularly under current Covid circumstances when feeling safe is paramount. The staff were totally on the ball with sanitising and distancing even down to disposable menus. A definite must visit!!

What a great meal, poppodoms were crisp, our starters of lamb and chicken tikka were tasty, my naga lamb was succulent and tasty, the rice was perfect and fluffy, the sag paneer was so delicious, the waitress was helpful, courteous, accomodating and was keeping everything clean and sanitised and social distancing was being adhered to.What more can you ask for would eat here again in a heartbeat everything was yummy, thank you.

We came here for valentines day and it was really nice to see they had made the effort to make the place look romantic.The waiting staff were friendly and attentive and it was nice to also see the owner/manager walking around making sure everything was running smoothly.The food was fantastic and brought out at a swift but not too quick pace.Will definitely return

Having been to the theatre in Cambridge, we stopped at Zzohanna at about 6-10 on the off chance of securing a table without a booking. After a couple of minutes, a table was found on the basis that the table was free by 8-15 which was not a problem for us. We had starters, spiced potato cakes and and vegetable samosas—both were fine and arrived within 10 minutes. We then waited about 35/40minutes for our mains to arrive whilst a large number of takeaways and deliveries were done. Most appeared to be ordered at the bar/counter and arrived before our food—not sure that preference should be given to these rather than customers dining in the restaurant. The mains were chicken dhansak, Adrak Shehed chicken, pilau rice, naan, mushroom bhaji, and brinjal bhaji. All portions were a good size, nice and hot and the brinjal bhaji and Adrak chicken were excellent. The dhansak, which should be “hot, sweet and sour” needed more heat. The Kingfisher beers were good and not overpriced. The service, excluding the delay in the main courses, was good—very friendly and pleasant. We did leave a 12.5% tip. Would we come again, yes we would, but the managers need to ensure customers dining in are not neglected at the expense of takeaways—another report has highlighted this point.

Friendly service although it was a bit slow, but the place was full (booking is essential) and lots of people came to collect take away orders. The wrong dish was brought out with our starters but was quickly sorted, there was also a naan bread confusion which led to a complimentary garlic naan. The food is delicious and very generous in portion size. It’s the best curry I’ve had in a long time.

Just had dinner here whilst on a weekend break in St Ives.Lovely little restaurant,clean and tidy.Got a warm welcome as soon as we came through the door,had some poppadoms to start then I went for the Mongolian puri which was very nice,then I had Chingi Macher Malye which was tiger prawns in a lovely creamy sauce.The wife’s food was all excellent as well,service was impeccable and friendly.Quite small so maybe best to book ( we were lucky )There is parking on the street or just over the medieval bridge so it’s easy to get to.Well worth a visit.

Meal for 4 people on Saturday night . Booked well in advance. Menu is extensive and offers good value. Drinks menu good. Food is high quality - Lamb Naga superb. Kingfisher on draught is great. Service very efficient and polite .

We visited on the third night of visiting family in the area and they took us to this restaurant. I'm a massive fan of Indian cuisine, so I was very much looking forward to it.Initially I wasn't sure what to expect. The restaurant inside was pretty small, the windows all steamed up from the filled tables. But they were able to find us a place regardless, which was amazing considering the numbers already in there.I'll start quickly by noting the bad points, not that they are really that bad at all. There was a little awkwardness with the service and figuring out the bill, as it wasn't itemised. Some things were bunched into one price, etc. (IE: Drinks and desserts were shoved into one part of the bill and mains separate.) But we got there in the end. The spice ratings in the menu are also out of whack. Things listed as 'slightly' spicy were much hotter than things listed as 'fairly spicy', which was odd and a little overwhelming for one particular party member who ended up with a pretty hot curry which had been described as 'slightly hot'.Now onto the good points, of which there are plenty.Let's start with the Kingfisher that they have on tap. Smooth, crisp and exactly what was needed considering the heat being generated in the very busy restaurant. It was chilled at the perfect temperature.The food was spectacular. I ordered the Kori Gassi, as did my husband. The other two members of the party ordered the Kashmir Ka Khusbu and Lamb Visal respectively. The Kori Gassi was very VERY mild. No bite to it at all which was good for my husband. My mother-in-law, however, who had ordered the Kashmir Ka Khusbu ended up suffering from the volcanic spices in her inaccurately described dish. We ended up trading dishes and I greatly enjoyed it. It was hot, but not hot enough to be unpleasant or tasteless like some overly spicy dishes can be. Paired with my coconut rice, it was amazing. The sweating was worth it. I'm not even a lamb fan, but that was cooked so well that the meat was falling apart and the flavour melded so well I was able to eat it with no issues.I also tried the Lamb Visal, which is lamb neck served in spices on a sizzling metal plate. It was tender, full of flavour and I highly recommend anyone give that a try.For dessert there was not much choice at all. Two flavours of sorbet or two flavours of ice-cream and a dessert which is listed and described, but with no price. (Falooda) I tried the chocolate ice-cream, which was very good. It was rich in flavour and had little chunks of dark chocolate running through it. The Mister had lemon sorbet and it was tart and refreshing.The mother-in-law ordered the falooda, which was served in a glass and almost glowed pink in colour. It was VERY sweet, but with no real temperature to it. Neither hot or cold. It reminded me of the smell of some rose scented furniture polish I had smelled in the past, but it wasn't unpleasant in taste. I don't think I could have finished the glass had it been my choice of dessert. Way too scenty and that's coming from a person who adores rose flavouring.All in all I am very much looking forward to visiting again. The main courses are absolutely stunning.

Have been three times now-excellent all three! Menu is much more exciting than normal whilst retaining the norm if one insists.I had an excellent lamb visal but the two 'innocent' curry eaters were also very pleased with their not 'hot' but very tasty choices!

Staff could not do enough without being overbearing, Menu and ambience is very good, Food is fantastic and plenty of it as well and amazing value as most |Indian's are but the Saneragon stands out.

Visited last night with my husband and 9 year old son. We ate early (6pm) and the restaurant was already busy.The team on duty were friendly and service was fast. We chose starters and mains, all of which were tasty, served hot and good portion sizes! Will definitely be back!

We had two excellent vegetarian meals. Received knowledgeable and helpful advice from staff. The restaurant was very busy at 18.30 on a Wednesday evening which was impressive in itself. A really enjoyable experience. Pity we were only in St Ives on a short break. Highly recommended.

Having had a great meal here earlier in the year my son wanted to treat us so booked up well in advance as it's very popular.it didnt disappoint very good fresh food.my boy is vegetarian and said it was the best he has had ! We all loved it excellent food again and good portions at a great price.

It was a pleasure to return to Zzohanna for another wonderfull meal, the food is delicious and service very good. It is a small restaurant but it has a lovely atmosphere even better if you are lucky to get the window seat. I would recommend for eating in or take away which is very popular.

Happened upon this place having stopped off in St Ives while on a family boating holiday. Great food; pleasant, helpful staff; peaceful atmosphere. Can't remember the name of the dish I had, but the meat was neck filet of lamb. Right up there with the best Indian Meals I've ever had - and I've had quite a few in my 65 years on this earth.

We have tried a few times to get a table here as it is very popular at weekends I whould recommend booking a week in advance ! We had a bit of a wait when we got there as it was rammed and they were trying to turn tables. They were very apologetic about it all and soon sorted are tables. We had starters excellent sweet potatoe cakes and stuffed sweet peppers. They have a great menu with some very different specials we both very good meals I had a lamb dish which was medium spiced and without any doubt the tenderest lamb curry I've ever had.my wife had a chicken dish which she said was delicious. Great rice and breads very fresh,hot fantastic Indian food 10 out of 10. Definitely going back.

Tried all the curry places in St Ives and this is, by far, the best. Unusual dishes along with traditional curries. Service was very good too. Would recommend.

Very helpful and friendly staff. On weekend in high season you may need to book as does a lots of the restaurants as get full quickly. The food was amazing full of flavour and not westonised. (Orthentic)

1st visit, our tables was ready when we arrived, having only booked 2 hours no was too much trouble, the food was great, nice portion sizes too!

Second time visit and the food, yet again, was beautiful and well cooked. Had the Naga Curry with garlic rice. Yum yum. The stand out for me though was the service. Couldn’t be better. Highly recommended.

Had two meals in this restaurant last month. On the first visit I was so impressed with the menu and overall atmosphere that I couldn't wait to go back and try more dishes.

I visited this restaurant with a group of 3 friends on a Friday evening. We have eaten at some excellent restaurants and enjoy both cooking and eating food. Based on the TA reviews, we had great expectations for this restaurant but sadly we were disappointed.

This is a busy place. The staff were pleasant and the food was great. A bit of a wait as they try to accommodate take aways as well.

Way ahead of the rest in all aspects. Menu is different. Quality of food amazing. Service is 5 star. Friendly, courteous and professional. Nothing is too much trouble! Try the Lamb Vasal. Amazing!!!!

Been here a couple of times and found the food to be very good. The service we received was very good,staff were there when you wanted but did not keep bothering us while we ate.

Rolled in here, a friend dragged me, after a good day out ;) The restaurant was very busy, we had no booking, but they seated a table of 3 of us within 5 minutes. Delicious food, friendly staff. Yes, it does hit the wallet hard but we enjoyed the meal a great deal, you get what you pay for! For a treat, I'd definitely return.

Visited with a group of friends and wasn’t so impressed. Service seemed a little rushed. Waiter a little snappy with one of my colleagues who is a little hard of hearing and was struggling to hear with the noise. A little too cramped for my liking.

This is our second visit to this small and intimate restaurant in 3 weeks. The first visit was at a weekend when the restaurant was very busy, so we thought we would visit midweek for a more relaxing experience. Greetings were polite and welcoming, the ambiance great and the whole restuarant was gleaming and immaculate. The dining experience and food was outstanding. There is little point in writing a long and involved review about this place other than to say we cannot wait to re-visit, well done to all the staff and chef. Probably best to book well in advance if going at weekends.

The food was very good and so are the portion sizes. The staff are also very friendly. The prices are one of the most reasonable in the town. The only thing I would mention is that the plates are cleared too quickly so there is no opportunity to carry on eating if you are having difficulty finishing the meal! We will be back.

Warm welcome when we entered and continued attentive service throughout. Nice atmosphere and warm restaurant. Really enjoyed my standard curry and pilau rice and there is a good range of special dishes. Price reasonable for the popadoms, starter and main course. Minor complaint in that they are a bit too efficient with ordering,drinks and service so we got through the meal a bit quicker than I would like.

This establishment was extremely busy for a Wednesday evening in mid January but the super quality of the food was the explanation.

This was my first time visiting Zzohanna Indian Cuisine and I was impressed with what was on offer. There is a widespread menu offering numerous options from traditional dishes to house specials.

I have been to this particular restaurant in all its previous incarnations, but this was the first time visiting Zzohanna.

I've got to say this was the worst Indian food I have ever had. We ordered a delivery and the food arrived swimming in oil and one of the dishes had more large bits of onion than any meat at all. Was very disappointed expected better judging by some of the reviews. It could be that they just couldn't be bothered to deliver something fresh and tasty.

Always wonderful food and fantastic service. Enjoyed this restaurant so much we had our Christmas dinner here and we weren't disappointed.

I have eaten in and taken away on several occasions now and the food is perfect every time. The delivery is fast and always polite. When going to the restaurant the atmosphere and cleanliness is second to none. We love going there and by far the best Indian restaurant in St Ives and the surrounding villages.

Been twice now and we love it. Food is great, well flavoured with a good choice. Service attentive without being pushy. Always busy which is a good sign. Will be returning.

I left a review before as a take away and was decidedly cool about the service ( well cold actually ) but I was persuaded by friends to go back and eat in. the food could not be better. probably the best meal out this year so far, so Ive come back to say if you want to eat out , then this is the place to go.

After a friend recommended this restaurant I thought we would give it a go, unfortunately we could not get a table as they were fully booked which is always a good sign so we opted for a takeaway,we were not disappointed possibly the best takeaway I have had in the uk the lamb melted in the mouth and was full of flavour

We went here on the spur of the moment having been told it was different to get a table at the weekend. The restaurant was busy even though it was mid week but we were seated quickly. Staff were friendly and helpful. The menu had lots of familiar dishes but also some more unusual ones. We were not disappointed with our choices - it was simply delicious!

We have eaten here a number of times and the food has alway been very good. On Friday night we decided to have a takeaway. I went to collect and was greeted by a very rude lady, no nice welcome.

Great food whether it be traditional Indian food or even the new more unheard of dishes that this restaurant serves!! Good service and helpful with regards to slightly changing dishes if needed.....quite a small cozy restaurant so definitely worth booking but I would recommend for regular restaurant diners but also those quite new to the restaurant scene!!!

This was our first visit and we will definitely be returning. The staff were very friendly and the service was good throughout. Wonderfully light popadoms, starters were presented really well. The mains were incredible plenty of meat and fantastic sauces. Light and tasty naan bread, one of the best curries I’ve eaten in a long time.

Only been in once since opened but will definitely go for repeat visits! Saff super friendly and efficient and food great. Restaurant been decorated really lovely with nice subdued lighting and a pleasure to eat in. Highly recommend.

I found the main course to be of good flavour and quality but was a bit disappointed in the dessert which seemed more like a milkshake. We had good service on arrival but then seemed to be forgotten about for a while - until we asked for menus.

Clearly a popular restaurant and liked by many. Good clean atmosphere and attentive waiters. Well presented food. Definitely above average food but I suspect most Indian food connoisseurs would be a little disappointed. Good cool beer but sadly they do not offer lassi as an alternative.

Probably the best attribute of this restaurant are the staff who are very attentive and friendly. Also the tables are beautifully set with white linen.

They have the best chef, tastes are so much better than any Indian restaurant I’ve been too... you’ve got to try!
