St Ives Dhaba in Huntingdonshire

I recently ordered from St Ives Dhaba as it had the best reviews. However, I'm beginning to question the authenticity of the reviews. We ordered over the phone as the website isn't secure, meaning your password isn't securely stored when entered. You're also forced into creating an online account. We were advised on the he phone it would be no longer than 1hr 15mins for delivery, longer than most establishments but given the reviews we thought it would be worth the wait. Food eventually arrived 1hr 45mins later after being told another order had come through near our address so they decided to hold ours and then send them together. My wife received and paid for the order not aware of what I'd been quoted on the phone, she paid about £5 more than what I'd been told. The food was cold when we received it, so everything required reheating. My wife ordered a biryani which was very different to every other biriyani we've ever had, but I appreciate there are regional differences with dishes and the chefs that cook them, this one wasn't to our liking. The Pasanda we ordered smelled and tasted off, the yoghurt within it was curdled and sour. I assumed perhaps it was again a regional thing so had a few bites but couldn't get past the taste and knew something was off. I binned the rest of it, and it's definitely for the best as the toilet took a battering in the 12hrs that followed. Onion Bhaji was nice after we had reheated it, but sadly soggy and cold upon delivery. Peshwari naan lacked filling, could've easily been confused with a plain naan. I would never order from here again, even if it was free.

We love this local Indian restaurant. Make sure you book even during the week to avoid disappointment as it's very popular. Good portions and nicely cooked. Friendly staff. Nothing not to like

Ordered a standard dish but here it was a little bit more special. Don't know what was included but it was just a bit more tasty. I recommend and will be returning with my family.

We were in St Ives for one night, and after walking round the lovely town and having a little drink, we fell upon this little gem. We love indian food and decided to try it. It was the right decision. Our host listened to our concerns about having the right amount of heat and sauce and ...... It Was The Best Curry we have had in years. Even my vegetarian Mushroom Jalfrezi was Just Right. The chicken Jalfrexi my husband had was also on point. Would definitely recommend to anyone Enjoy my friends 🧡

Absolutely lovely. Best meal I've had out for ages. I want to say I'm not a huge curry fan, but my partner is, and it was his birthday treat from me. I expected to enjoy my evening but I wasn't prepared to absolutely love the food. I had the lamb and it was melt in the mouth delicious. the staff were lovely, not overly attentive if you know what I mean, but just right. Atmosphere lovely. it's now on my list of places I would choose to go to myself for a meal out!

Our first time ordering takeaway from Dhaka. Very disappointed! Chicken biryani - very dark brown meat and rice looked and tasted bland. Accompanying vegetable curry was merely a sauce and very hot indeed - inedible to us both. Dhal was fine and Bombay potatoes ok. Nothing is calling us back to try again!!

Arrived on time but no showing of our booking made online?a bit of confusion but given a table 10 minutes later. All good . beers popadoms and side dish 10 minutes later then ordered main a long wait but the food was excellent. We was going to look at dessert but was given the bill without asking which really annoyed us so payed and left! Very good food but not good customer service.

I recently dined at this restaurant and was impressed by the delicious food they served. The flavors were exquisite, and each dish was beautifully presented. However, I was disappointed by the poor customer service. Despite being paying customers, the staff looked down on us for our attire, which detracted from the overall experience, they constantly stared at us with judgmental looks kept passing our tables scanning us watching us from head to toe and when we glanced back at them They were quick to look away making it seem as it’s nothing, it’s a bit disappointing to see an Indian restaurant ran by colored people like myself yet they’re still looking down on their own just because they don’t accept other’s attire.

Went on a Saturday night at 7.30 starters came out quick but we waited so long for our main. That came out at 8.50 after asking twice by the time it came my husband had lost his appetite mainly cause he was annoyed. Was really disappointed it ruined our anniversary nite in St Ives

Our first visit here yesterday. The food was amazing and quite honestly the best we have had since living this way. Absolutely recommended.

Excellent upmarket Indian food. Times have thankfully moved on from the standard curry house dishes to a proper restaurant like this serving quality food. Lamb chops superb, biriyani came with a pastry crust and superb sizzling tawa lamb. Great service on a busy Friday night and as a table of five we stayed as long as we wanted. Will be back.

First time. Chose them for the very good reviews. Apart from the meat samosa (son not impressed so 4* not 5*) it was very good. Madras was much hotter than most (more like the old days). Dhaba goat very tasty and the breads all excellent. The sag paneer was the best I've ever had. Delivery 1hr. Slightly more expensive than others but very high quality. Will order from them in future.

First time we've ever visited this restaurant and we straightaway realised that we'd been missing out! The meal and service were excellent, and the prices were reasonable. The prawn puree was honestly the best I've ever eaten, and the biriyani came in a metal bowl with a tandoori bread crust over it, like a quirky pie but a thousand times better! And I even liked the decor....

Called in today after a long drive. Kashmiri Lamb Shank was beautifully cooked, a large amount of meat still on the bone and a delicious spiced gravy. Perfect with Bombay aloo and chapati’s

Went last Saturday. Had a really bland Rogan Josh which was just dry chicken and tomato puree sauce. My mum's pasanda dish was nice but definitely had some thickener added to it. As we had no booking after our meal finished we were told that the table needed to be vacated. They shoved the receipt onto our table and added a £4.99 service charge for the privilege. Rude and totally unfriendly especially as the tables around us had been there longer than us and did not get asked to leave. Also one of the waiters kept shouting the names of the dishes when they came out from the kitchen. Also very badly decorated. Not visiting again.

I have been to many, many indian restraunts all over the UK & without any doubt it is the best I have ever tasted. The service is imformative & the food is heavon. I would without any hesitation highly recommend for any concerting curry fan. Well done to Dhaba. We will be back , and back.

Fabulous evening! Lovely staff and buzzing atmosphere. Luckily booked during the day. Had mixed grill platter to share which was excellent. Tandoori salmon, tandoori king prawns, Bombay aloo, saag paneer and naan. All excellent. Nice waiting times for fresh food. Few beers. What more could you want. We eat lots of Indian cuisine, this is right up there!!! Fab.

Nice food but expensive, (10% service charge is heavy plus got charged for chutney to go with poppadoms) and we got the bill immediately after plates were cleared. No offer of coffee because table was rebooked. I didn't appreciate being shoved out.

Visiting my brother and sister in law who live nearby, they brought us here for dinner. The food was lovely and plentiful. My vegan husband had lots of choice. Good atmosphere and friendly staff.

Food was spot on, good customer service, the restaurant itself is nice but if crowded it feels really loud!!! It was hard to have a conversation on a Saturday evening! Also note that they add a 10% service charge.

Another great visit to Dhaba. The restaurant was very busy and although the waiter forgot a drinks order, the atmosphere was good. The food was great as usual and the staff friendly.

Having frequented the other Indian restaurants in St Ives I can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough the food was sensational so much so I had to comment to staff … every dish we ordered was top quality and full of flavour. My parents walked past and I asked the staff if they could join us for coffee they were so accommodating until our visit we weren’t going to entertain a curry again in st. ives as the other restaurants simply didn’t impress us for countless reasons but we will definitely be back to your wonderful establishment x

We went to Dhaba this Saturday evening just gone, there was four of us out celebrating a birthday. Food was honestly the best Indian any of us have ever had, absolutely couldn’t fault the food, it was all fresh and bursting with flavour!!! It was very busy so there was a bit of a wait but that wasn’t a problem as we always had drinks and it gave us time to have a natter. This was our first time visiting this restaurant but certainly won’t be our last. Staff was very friendly and very accommodating. Thank you for a lovely Birthday Meal!!

Took 1 hour and 15 minutes after we had ordered to get our food, even though we stressed multiple times (and in the email when we booked) that we had a bus to catch later. So many unhappy customers in there that night, people who had booked a table but was then turned away because they had taken way too many bookings and just couldn’t cope. Other tables were complaining about the long wait for food and were fed up. When I complained about the long wait the male waiter was very disrespectful and decided to come and stand right behind me and talk back to me rudely. However shook hands when the male member of our family complained and apologised to him. Think he needs to learn some respect for women. They never offered us a discount for the lack of service, we didn’t have time to finish the food or the bottle of wine we paid for so complete waste of money. Never been to a place like it with such a long wait because they are greedy and take too many bookings and with such disrespectful, horrible staff. Avoid!!!!

Best Indian restaurant, I have been here for a while now. Very tasty curry. I have had really good curry every-time I get one from here. I would 100% recommend this curry place to anyone in st Ives. Excellent staff service. Good price for food too. Looks really clean too.

Awful experience they had taken too many bookings , a very long wait for our curry the table behind were complaining of the service, we kept telling them we had to catch a bus we had to rush our food down it spoilt our evening .Then we had to pay full price no discount as they are greedy and would not accept any responsibility

I have had really good curry’s every-time I get one from here, I would 100% recommend this curry place to anyone. Very polite staff and friendly, really make you feel welcome. A cut above your average Indian restaurant. You can tell it's good quality fish, king prawn and chicken in dishes we had and curry was delicately spiced and seasoned. A good chef at work here.

This is my second visit and I took my three children and the grandparents for an evening after being so impressed the first time. The food is so fresh and beautufully cooked it really is exquisite. One of my party was in a wheelchair and they accommodated him perfectly. The staff are attentive and friendly and plenty of time is given to have a relaxing meal. I recommend them and will be visiting again.

I reviewed the menu before booking. The menu choices sounded delicious and I was hoping the dishes would look and taste as good as they sounded. I was not disappointed. By far, the best Indian cuisine in St Ives. I would even go as far as saying they rival Navadhanya in Cambridge. We had mixed meat and vegetarian starters to share between four, followed by main dishes all from their Signature Dhaba choice. We had the Keralan Fish Curry and Kashmiri Lamb Chops. Alongside the usual rice, naan and poppadom and sauces, the food was absolutely exquisite. We will return most definitely. Thank you Dhaba.

Very enjoyable meal, starter, main, sides & drinks, top quality. Vegetable samosa, prawn & puree, keralan fish curry,onion barges,pilau rice & dhaba chicken speciality curry, cobra beer. Relaxed atmosphere, good friendly service.

Great food and service. All of the meat was good quality and all food was fresh and not oily. Went as part of a big group of 11 and we were all well looked after and received the food in a timely manner at the same time and hot which is important and not always the case when there are so many people. Would definitely recommend for dine in Indian food in St.Ives, the lamb madras which had great depth of flavour despite being spicy (as it should be).

I would give this place 4.5 stars, with only a couple of issues. For some this won't be a problem but no Lime pickle with the poppadoms! {or anything 🔥!) The prawn puri which is normally my favourite starter was a bit sweet for my taste. Otherwise everything else we had was great. Quite noisy but good service.

After reading good reviews we decided too get a takeaway from here. Really easy to preorder on line,a basic menu but easier too choose ,the web site isn’t the best to look at. dishes a bit more expensive than the other Indian takeaways and portion was smaller. The lamb shank was delicious but just on it’s own. Onion bahjis were ok could be better if 4 instead 3 as they were 5 quid, won’t bother with the potatoes again really poor. Bread was ok ,my wife had fish curry which was delicious but not enough fish for the money. Not outstanding but ok there are better takeaway Indian restaurants in st Ives. Maybe it’s better to dine inside.

This is an amazing Indian restaurant managed by some young people at St. Ives. Foods are mouthwatering, great taste and service was also great. We enjoyed the complete experience at the restaurant. Definitely recommend to anyone who loves Indian cuisine. Love to come back with family again.

I have visited St Ives Dhaba on numerous occasions now. For in house dining and takeaways. The restaurant provides an outstanding quality of ingredients and extremely well curated dishes . The team are very knowledgeable and can describe every dish to you, which makes a great experience for trying something new that you wouldn’t get at other local Indians. The restaurants pricing structure is more than sensible meaning you won’t need to decipher the menu to a degree of looking for something cheap, you can enjoy an authentic Indian meal at an affordable price!

Really tasty curry, best in the area!

Originally went to the other Indian opposite, but they had no tables. Decided to go Dhaba. We had a Biriani and the tandoori mixed grill. Both meals were exceptional! We will definitely come back. Well done Dhaba.
