Absolutely delicious food. Friendly staff. My pick-up was accidentally taken by driver, they quickly remade my order fresh and gave us free poppadoms.

I just had my first and not last takeaway, I ordered the Akbar Chicken, that's the best one I had for years, and I used to live in Bedford. And everything else was so tasty, Onion bhaji, the Naan. Definitely I'll try more of that food. Nothing to do with the food, but they need to update the website menu, it's illegible. I pick one from the restaurant.

I had never eaten Indian food and was pleasantly surprised. The waiters knew what to recommend me perfectly so I could eat without spicy food.

The food is excellent, good, fast service! Lovely atmosphere.

The food here is very nice and the building itself is quite quirky. Unfortunately one of the waiters is particularly rude and rushes you through the meal and ordering even taking plates you are still trying to eat from. Would have left a tip if it wasn't for him. The rest of the staff are friendly. Aim for a day when the tall waiter isn't working and it's great.

Myself and work colleague came from Yorkshire and Middlesbrough for a site visit. We came to Akbars for both all of our evening meals and the food was exceptional. The staff was very attentive and very much helpful and the atmosphere was a great crack with the coals could not recommend the place enough ! Will always come back to Ackbars when ever we find our selves down on Eaton Socon again !

First time l visited this restaurant l can't vault it.

I have been using this restaurant for MANY MANY MANY years. Recently for takeaways but have also eaten in as a couple and small group. The atmosphere is always welcoming and pleasant. The owner and his son are now friends as well as restaurateurs. We now live in Cambridge but always call ahead and order our food. It is always ready and hot. We always Look forward to our next visit…. Great food, Friendly staff and great atmosphere

This curry house is by far the best Iv visted within the area, the hospitality is second to none, the food is fantastic and if you’re struggling for choice, moss can recommend the best suited dish for you and your party. The hospitality of theses guys is amazing , maz “ front of house “ will make you feel welcome and will provide the best customer service going. If you’re in the area and fancy a curry this Indian cuisine is for you ! Enjoy guys

Our visit was a bit of an experience. Our Poppadoms came out with two lots of onions and no raita, which we had to ask for, before we’d cracked a whole poppadom we were told our main course food was ready. The food came and to be fair it was tasty. Then while we were still eating they started clearing the table, and I mean one of our dinner plates. Then when we were chatting, the waiter said I’m bringing you your bill, brought the bill and said ‘you can leave a cash tip if that’s easier’ they couldn’t get us out the door fast enough, we were in there for a total of 1 hour 10mins !! We had a nice evening because we had to laugh otherwise it’d have spoiled our night. Won’t be back anytime soon.

Reception, service and attention was no great. Waiter clearly did not want to be there and made us feel really unwelcome. Chef has clearly been working really hard and the food was fantastic and really enjoyable with loads of great flavours and fresh cooking. Back of house, amazing Front of house needs lots of work! Go to Nawab or Rose and Mango for a nicer experience instead Wish we had ordered a pick up instead of going out !

Really disappointing service. Although our food was quite nice the food was nearly thrown at us, no asking how our meal was, given the bill within an hour of sitting down without asking if we would like anything else, drinks or dessert. Very unwelcoming, we are just a quiet middle aged couple going for a meal to try somewhere that had intrigued us. Almost amused how rude the service was, will stick to the town centre curry restaurants next time!

I wish I could give 5 stars as the food was amazing and the waiter's recommendation was perfect. So much that we left a generous tip. The only thing that ruined our experience was the note left on our car stating that we shouldn't have parked in the empty car park, where we weren't obstructing anything... Shame.

Popped her a few weeks ago for my birthday. We had booked a table for 5, but upon arrival they had forgotten to to book us in. Luckily they found us a table. We were repeatedly asked if we were ready to order, which became quite annoying. Food wise. I had a lamb bhuna and rice. The lamb bhuna was very plan with little texture, mostly just sauce, with a few bits of lamb. This used to be a great restaurant, but has seen better days. It seriously needs a face lift.

Great evening out here, delicious food, fantastic friendly service added to a great night out for a Christmas dinner with friends. The staff humoured us and joined in our laughs. Thoroughly recommend for both food and service. Thank you

A group of us visit this restaurant quite regularly; the food is always good and the owners are lovely friendly people, we like to make a night of it! Normally this is no problem however on our last visit we felt rushed from the moment we set foot through the door by a less than friendly waiter. Wanted our drink order before we'd taken our coats off! We repeatedly had to tell him we were not ready to order when we were enjoying our pompedoms. When we finished our meal we had the bill before we asked for it and someone started hovering before we left 9.45. Hopefully this was a one off as we love the Akbar for its lovely food and relaxed and friendly atmosphere, hope things go back to normal.

Had takeaway before but this was first time in restaurant. Food, service, portions, price all excellent. Will definitely be going again.

Worst experience I have ever had… even though it is my local Indian restaurant. Arrived on time for table, as soon as we arrived. We were ‘pointed’ to our table without a word or hello. Order was taken and poppadoms & drinks arrived swiftly. However, after a long 50 minutes our main course arrived. I am a frequent eater of Indian cuisine, however two of us ended up with the hottest dansak’s known to man. Also the chicken tikka masala was almost radioactive looking. After speaking to the waiter on the hotness, the chicken dansak was taken away and within 2 minutes brought back as a watery sweet horrid sauce. When it was on the way to the table, a member of our group spotted the waiter drop the spoon out of the bowl onto the floor and appear to pick it up and put it back in the bowl. It was addressed with the waiter who became defensive and argued it did not happen. We were extremely put off by this and put our knives and forks down and requested the bill to leave. Only 10£ was taken off the final bill and there was no apology from anyone on the service or quality of food. Regardless to say I won’t be going back (even though my local Indian restaurant) and am extremely disappointed I had to pay anything towards this experience.

Great food in a interesting old building

We visited this restaurant on a Monday evening and had an excellent five dish vegetarian dinner. All the dishes were very good and varied. Service was both friendly and efficient, and the pricing was also good. If in the area again would definitely return.

Food was excellent and well cooked although my partners squid starter was over cooked. Place wasn't busy and they had a multitude of empty tables yet stuck us next to the walkway which was cold and people and waiters walking past every 30 seconds. Waiters were also overly attentive, disturbing us every few minutes to ask if all was OK to the point it was annoying. Price wise the food wasn't expensive and good value.

A really good experience. Had Naga lamb which was great and the naan was one of the best I've had so far.

After using akbar over the past 20 years Just had a takeaway from here & was absolutely disgusting, the portions were bismal, the plain chicken tikka so over spiced couldn't eat it & was size of a starter 6 cubes of chicken for £7.50 same as tandoori mushrooms just bright red & thickly covered with spice, poppadoms broken in a million pieces just a bag of crumbs & the onion bhajis not much bigger than a golf ball,the mint sauce was like water & the bag of salad consisted of lettuce half a piece of cucumber & 2 pieces of raw carrot, the cheese naan had no cheese & was stale as old boots, what has happened to this place? We sure as hell will most definitely NOT be ordering from here again !!!!

A St.Neots institution. Incredible quality at reasonable prices. Been a customer for over 10 years and never experienced so much as a blip. Reassuringly consistent.

Best place in town for an Indian, great quality consistent food.

A superb taste of the subcontinent - simply sublime. I had a lamb jalfrezi last night complimented by a cheese naan, which was fluffy, flavoursome and fragrant. The jalfrezi had just the right amount of bite with tender lamb chunks melting in my mouth, and a gentle heat that permeated its way through my digestive system. I also was lucky enough to have some bhajis to start. Again, these were delectable, with a nice crunch and a burst of flavour with every mouthful. As a curry aficionado I can safely say this curry house is up there with the best I’ve ever had. Congratulations to Akbar’s, we will definitely be ordering again when we find ourselves in the area!

The food here is nice and the staff are attentive, we went last week on my birthday with friends. I'm new to the area so this is only the third time I've eaten here but its the second time they've been telling us to leave (at 10pm) as it's closing time! They were literally clearing the table and switching the lights off!! Really disappointing why they let in a table of 4 at 8.45pm if we had to be out on the dot of 10pm which ruined the evening a bit! (and no, its not because we're rowdy). Even worse was the fact that they told us that if we had come in earlier, "when the chef was here", he would have cooked me something special for my birthday!! Begs the question about who did cook the food! Maybe that's why the portion sizes were so small, I was still hungry when I got home! And did we really need to be told that - felt a bit cheated! Not sure I'm going to be rushing back after that!!

Service a little wooden but polite. Actual menu needs a clean up, was falling apart. Decor could do with an upgrade. We started with popadoms, then had main curries with rice and naans and a veg side. Food wise, we couldnt knock it, some great flavours and served in nice dishes and felt like just the right amount of portion sizes

We had a very delicious dinner and excellent service. We left around closing time and our taxi took a long time to turn up and we were waiting outside. One of the staff came outside to check we were ok and offered us a lift home. You simply do not get such great service or caring as that in many places nowadays. We were incredibly thankful for their kindness and what a restoration in people that was also.

Lovely really enjoyed it, might of been one of the best madras I've ever had, shame I don't live in the area I'd be in there all the time, not bad price either, highly recommend, next time I'm down that way I'll be definitely popping in for a curry

I come here with friends at least once a month and the staff are just lovely. The food always looks and tastes amazing and the olde world surroundings of the restaurant are charming. I can't recommend the food and service highly enough and always look forward to my next visit.

We love this Indian Restaurant. The staff are always really pleasant and helpful and the food is yummy. Particularly rate their Tarka Daal high as it has good substance and not like the 'watery soup' I've encountered elsewhere. 🙂

Credit where credit is due, this has to be the best Tandoori experience money can buy! Amazing food, from poppadoms to main course the whole meal was cooked to perfection. I asked for a recommendation and the meal served was exactly what I was looking for and delicious. Lovely people and service, I can't recommend this place enough!

We have eaten here a few times before and has been really good but tonight was very disappointing starters was ok people that had come in after us had there meals before us my partners vindallo tasted like pond water Bombay potatoes were under cooked hard and tasteless my Pasadena was average but as soon as we mentioned our complaints all dishes were grabbed from the table no apology was given by staff or management will never recommend or visit here again very very disappointed and upset

Eight of us and a baby had an early evening meal at the Akbar on Saturday 14th May. The food and service was excellent. It was our first time at this restaurant and we will certainly be back, highly recommended.

Guys, thank you for a superb meal tonight, both of you provided really friendly service and thank your uncle for the fantastic food. On a first visit I always judge a restaurant on the prawn purée followed by Lamb Jalfrezi, both were excellent. Thanks again for a great evening.

2 portions of Nag Puri as takeaway. So tiny not worth the effort eating them. This is not the first time. That's a regular customer who will not be back...disgusted

Best Indian tandoor restaurant in Eaton Socon, food was very tasty and the customer service is warm welcoming too, I was working there and happen to drive past it, so I decided to give a go. Tight sitting, but very cosy. Prices are very reasonable too.

In St Neots for the weekend and stumbled upon this lovely quaint little Indian restaurant. Friendly staff and excellent food.

We just moved into the area, and visited this Indian as closest to our new home. It’s was amazing, so much so, we are going back tonight. Give this place a try, we are sure you will be pleasantly surprised With its tasty food.
