The best restaurants in East of England

We didn't know Colchester at all, but happened upon Sip and Tuck when we were looking for lunch, and it was perfect for our requirements. Our only regret was that the portions were too generous for us to have room for a slice of cake! In fact, the Ploughman's defeated my husband, and so he had to ask for a doggy bag and the leftovers were sufficient for his lunch the next day.

Absolutely outstanding Sunday lunch. Excellent food, great beer, cosy woodburner and friendly staff. Top rate all round. Booking advisable.

We used to visit this resturant all of the time whilst under previous owner Alfio . Sadly since he retired the food quality and ambiance is not the same . Gradually it has gone down hill . In an authentic little place like this fresh food is a must . It appeared that the prawns had been frozen and were tasteless , the pizza dry and nothing anybody had was as good as it used to be . Maybe it was a bad night in the kitchen , but at the price you pay you expect better . Sadly we won't return .

Met friends for a pre Christmas drink

Delicious food, lovely atmosphere, great staff and a yummy New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc at great prices. We recommend it.

Spent 50, surprised and disappointed that a small pot of sauce and onion’s aren’t included or even complimentary anymore. They always used to be and still are at other places. Portions also weren’t that impressive in comparison to past orders. Great food but will go elsewhere based on these things.

Popped by today, had the most amazing halloumi wrap and hot chocolate, the hot chocolate is the best, cream and marshmallow. All served with a smile from the staff

Lovely staff amazing food and even gave me some cheese on my chips 😀😀😀 thanks also new battered chicken burger which I've never had before from a different part of UK was lovely highly recommended

We ordered two mains and two desserts from the online menu for our Sunday lunch. The food was glorious in quality and quantity and was presented in sensible cardboard boxes.

The food was amazing and the restaurant was clean and tidy and the staff was friendly and helpful too. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to friends and family.

Seems to be using less meat in the dishes, was just unexpected always been decent here, not sure will be rushing back just yet as it was lacking and expensive for what there was.

We only ever go to the Raj (for past seven years). Tonight was the first not so great meal we’ve had. The Peshawari naan came up burnt, first time. We sent it back and second time (half way through the meal) it was the same, so we gave it a miss. The chapatis weren’t up to their usually standard. The chicken was chewy. We’ve never ever had a bad meal here. I said to the waiter (who was quite disinterested) do you have a new chef. He said yes, but I’m not entirely sure he understood what we were saying. So sad given we’ve been coming for many years. On the way out, we didn’t even get an apology for the waiter. One more try I think. If it’s not good, we won’t return.

Seriously one of the best plates of food I have ever had! Staff are friendly and atmosphere cosy. Feel totally comfortable to sit on my own and enjoy the culinary delights from the very talented chef

Friendly staff, nice food and very reasonably priced. Portions very generous and they use nice bread.
