Decided to have dinner on the way home, friendly and helpful staff, couldn’t do enough for you. Food is good straightforward pub food and plenty of it had to take half my haddock home it was so big. Great value and great staff, I will be back.

Just been to the Snooty Tavern for Sunday lunch. This has to be the best Sunday lunch i have had in years and years. The staff were excellent, the food was even better and this is a great find which we will definitely be going back to. Well done to the front of house staff and especially to the catering team. I rated this place with a five only because I couldn’t rate it as a ten.

Driving through Gt. Staughton we decided to stop for a light lunch at the newly re--opened Snooty Tavern. We were not disappointed, there was a good pub lunch menu and after a drink at the bar we chose fish and chips x 3. It passed my 'batter' test, a nice size piece of fish fillet, fried in a nice light crispy batter. This was served with chips, mushy peas and a nice pot of tartar sauce. We finished with coffee....service was efficient and friendly. We will definately return.

Went for the first time since the pub reopened under new ownership. Excellent meal, delicious prawns and gammon steak. Very impressed as the inside no longer seems like someone’s lounge and has a proper pub feel.

We’ve eaten at The Snooty 3 times now, brilliant pub grub each time. The Fish and chips on a Friday and the Sunday lunch absolutely delicious. Staff and service friendly and attentive. One night was a Friday and they had a Fantastic singer on too. Each time the place has been busy with a great atmosphere. Would be a five star review, only complaint they need a better wine list.

Visited last weekend for family birthday meal. We were not disappointed. I started with the soft shell crab which was absolutely delicious. This was followed by the lobster and prawn linguine, a little more lobster would have made the dish even better but the flavours were lovely. I then chose the blackberry posset. This was topped with ice cream which although delicious an so creamy probably wasn’t needed on top of the posset. A very subtle flavour and a huge portion for a posset.😋 Staff very attentive and friendly for the moment we stepped inside. Probably could do with more heating in the middle section, although I was sat with my back to the open kitchen door. Will definitely return.

We had our first visit to the pub today and weren't disappointed. The food was delicious, from the starters to mains to desserts all very nice. The roast beef dinner was gorgeous. Such a great menu for a Sunday with loads to choose from if you're not up for a roast. Beautiful pub, fantastic staff and amazing food.

We chose the Snooty Tavern as a venue for our dinner based on the extensive Vegetarian/vegan menu. The service and ambiance were friendly and relaxed and the food did not disappoint. Between us we tried a range of starters, mains and desserts. The quality of food and the care with presentation were second to none. As a party of vegetarians/vegans we struggle to be well catered for outside of large citys, so we were delighted to find this gem in the country and the chef should be commended. We thoroughly recommend this venue and will definitely be back. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

Wow, from the first step inside the door, the staff were five star, very attentive, polite. Not been here before but will definitely be back. The food was amazing, lovely & hot, plenty of selection, we all had the roast beef, and it was excellent. Toilets were very clean, and products lovely. ( which is lacking in a lot of places these days) We had top notch service from beginning to end ( we are fussy too 😉) so high praise. The prices were reasonable as well, added bonus

I've driven passed the Snooty Tavern a million times but never realised what a feast of delights were on offer inside. There were 4 of us who visited on sat 6th Aug. We were greeted by an all female crew with smiles a plenty!! After have a quick drink at the bar, always a good start, we took our seats. Being a seafood lover, I ordered the softshell crab and was not disappointed. absolutely delicious followed by a generous portion of Sea Bass and all the trimmings. We were also served with the Chateaubriand (Medium) which came out cooked to perfection. Unfortunately we were all too full to enjoy a Dessert but there's always another time. All the staff were very friendly and genuinely happy to be of service. We all agreed this was one of the best dining experiences we've had in a very long time and will certainly be revisiting the Snooty tavern. Keep up the fab work everyone!! :)

Reports of sensationally good food had reached one of the friends I was visiting via a recommendation so three of us motored over for Sunday lunch. The pub's previous reputation had been a modest one but tales of a new chef poached (though only lightly) from elsewhere spoke of much-improved standards. To be honest, the outer, tiled-floor bar is that of a typical local and a rather gloomy middle area didn't appeal but, thankfully, our table was in an airy, light-filled extension at the back. It's still not the smartest of dining areas but, if the food's good, I, for one, never carp too much. The lunch menu was small but choice, extending to 4 starters, 5 mains and a choice of 2 Sunday roasts, plus 6 pizzas (not exactly fine dining but it'd keep the kids happy and they looked to be the size of wagon-wheels). 3 sweets were offered, plus ice creams, homemade sorbets or a cheeseboard. I reckon it's invariably a good sign if the menu doesn't run to several pages; best to devote attention to just a few dishes. My soft-shell crab, lemon puree, soy-sesame and ginger resembled an opponent of Godzilla in miniature form but yielded to the fork and, with it's subtle Thai flavours, tasted sublime. My friend's delicately presented smoked duck was a real hit too. Rarely have I consumed a prettier plateful than my main; the venison with ginger mash, kale, poached pear, braised shallots carrot puree and pomegrante gravy could have doubled as a table decoration at Christmas (see below). Moreover, the kale wasn't (as it can be) tough and scratchy but delightfully tender and the shallots melted in the mouth. This was a winning melange of flavours, meaty, fruity and rooty. My other friend's salmon did seem a bit disconcertingly swamped with peas (termed a fricassee) and we felt this ought to be reconceived. The roast beef was served rare but was reportedly nicely tender and boasted good roasties and a la dente celeriac cubes amongst other accompaniments. My pineapple posset again deserved a Design Centre award for its diagonal slant up the glass, a fragrant tang balanced with toasted coconut crumb, clementine puree, strawberries and a softish shortbread finger. The spiced rhubarb and apple crumble with vanilla Tonka ice cream was, perhaps, a bit shallow and the crumb did have the odd granitey bit in it. The chocolate tart didn't seem to involve any pastry but included a huge wedge of honeycomb, though it did pose a threat to insecure fillings. We were bowled over by the imagination and quality of the cooking, a rare gem in a slightly undistinguished setting. I only wish that we had this class of a chef operating in my neck of the woods, in the uncivilised North. It's not cheap but fine dining rarely is; close on £25 for a main of lamb rump would outrage many north of Newark and £38 for tournedos rossini would cause my countrymen to slip into a coma. All in all, the bill for three of £116, including two glasses of wine and a fizzy water, seemed very fair Without a doubt, next time I'm in this neck of the woods, I shall make a bee-line for The Snooty Tavern to see how the other half eat.

After reading so many great reviews it prompted me and my partner to book a meal. Starters were great, service fine however mains were of a very low to average standard. Although we were given a 20% discount off one of the mains it was still extremely over priced for the quality at £19.20! Especially when my partner had eaten 2 chips, 1 1/2 bites of the poorly cooked steak and some rocket! We were informed the head chef was allowing the sous chef to prepare lunch, so unsure why you still had to pay full price for what was not going to be the standard we were expecting! No bad regards to the sous chef as they accepted the feedback and handled them excellently. Sadly we would not recommend this restaurant unless you want to pay over the odds for standard food.

My daughter had been there and recommended the place, we were greeted warmly and shown to our table (there were 4 of us) i decided to order the chateaubriand to share, i requested medium to well ( i know rare seems to be the most common) We were told it would take 40 minutes my wife ordered fillet medium rare and our friend fillet well done. As it would take some time we were offered some nibbles (olives and peanuts) after around 40ish minutes they served the main courses, my steak came out mooing, not sure it had received any cooking at all! They were very apologetic and offered to re-cook however i was not prepared to wait another 40 minutes and then sit there eating on my own. Instead i had cheese and biscuits. in fairness to them they removed the cost. But i am afraid that my enjoyment of the evening was lost. I also thought it was a bit cheeky charging us £5.60 for a small bowl of olives and peanuts.

If reviewing on service & overall enjoyment of this lovely gastropub/restaurant it would be an easy 5 out of 5. The setting in the village of Great Staughton is pleasant, & decor attractive - a cosy but contemporary style. There’s a nice outdoor area & small car park. Maximum points for being Covid secure too. Service was superb - genuine, warm & efficient. The menu is enticing, with a little nod to the East. Unfortunately we found the food to be just ok. Comparable to that of a so so home cook. Perhaps we were unlucky in our choices though - as there are ample reviews to the contrary.

There were 3 of us and we were warmly welcomed and shown to our table. The decor was relaxed, modern and pleasant. We went on the Steak and Fish night under the Eat Out to Help Out Scheme.. All the food was excellent, really well cooked, Sadly the service was rather frantic and erratic, i.e.out main course was delivered at the same time as out starter plates were cleared which was immediately as the last person had finished their starter. Two people had Steak, they were huge 10 oz steaks - delicious, but why not offer a 5 or 6 oz portion too? We found the White Wine list extremely dry. Looking for an off dry wine we asked for a recommendation that we ordered and found it rather tasteless and too dry. One person had dessert and we ordered 2 spoons, as it was to be shared. We waited quite a while for this to be provided, so long in fact the waitress came along to take away the cutlery before the dessert had been provided! On paying the bill, we asked for a £10 tip to be added, £20 was added, but luckily this was spotted and rectified. We would return for the food, and hope the wine list and service settles and improves. We did appreciate that the waitresses were were wearing face guards too and felt Corvid safe by eating there. Thank you for what was mostly a very enjoyable evening out, our first since lock down !!

It was a real treat. Initially tried to book Sunday lunch at the Mermaid but due to social distancing requirements, that hostelry is remaining closed but the Owner suggested trying the Snooty Tavern, The Mermaid's sister pub. I was happy to do so and was delighted with her suggested alternative. The Landlady was beyond helpful as we'd arrived early. The surroundings were nicely finished and fashionable. My partner commented that it felt like we were abroad and it was a very hot day.The menu had 5-6 choices of each course (ala Mr Ramsey) and each of the 5 dishes we ordered (we shared a dessert, how sweet are we?) was beautifully presented and sensibly portioned. The combination of flavours was impeccable. It was an absolute delight and I can highly recommend it.For reference, 2 rounds of drinks, 2 Sunday lunches plus 13% tip came to just over 80 pounds and it was worth every penny.Thank you...

We went to the Snooty Tavern excited to see what the management team had done to the place since we last visited. We have been customers of the Tavern for many years. We walked in and the place was deserted. There was one other table and absolutely no atmosphere. It was cold and even though it was cold outside no one had bothered to light the fire. We ordered some drinks at the bar and chatted to the new manager / marketing manager. They led us through to our table, right at the back of the empty restaurant, as far away from the bar as they could get, in the very cold conservatory. We ordered prawns to start and burgers for main. The service was ‘ok’ and the food was edible but nothing to write home about. After our dinner, before we had a chance to order deserts, the waitress came over and asked if we wanted the bill. We explained we hadn’t finished and asked if she wanted to close, to which she replied she did. Given it was still before 10pm we were quite surprised. We decided to leave deserts, but asked for a coffee, to which she replied the coffee machine had been turned off. 2 more attempts to get us to pay our bill, which we eventually did and then left. This used to be a lovely warm, inviting, friendly pub where we have enjoyed many a night. It is now cold, un-inviting, with a boring drab interior, staff who aren’t bothered if you’re there or not and mediocre food. Give this one a miss if you want a good night.

I went to this pub/restaurant last night with my wife. When we walked in the “manager” was sitting at the bar on his laptop. The log fire which could have added atmosphere had candles in place of a fire. No one had bothered to light them! We were the only one of two couples in the restaurant. I had to wave to the lady behind the bar to get a menu because she was too busy chatting to the manager at the bar. I then had to wave to attract the attention of the new marketing manager, who eventually came to take our orders. I then had to ask for the wine list. We were the only people in the restaurant (Thursday night) when the food came, I had rib eye steak it was so thin it would have been impossible to have cooked it medium rare which I had asked for. All I can say about the food was it was edible, but not enjoyable. When we left the manager was still sitting at the bar on his laptop, the marketing manager was sitting in the bar on his lap top, and the owners where behind the bar having a drink. I think these people haven’t a clue how to run a restaurant. There were two cooks two managers two owners one bar maid / waitress and two customers. I can only assume the manager was writing the reviews.

This is no doubt the best quality food we've found in the area. We've been here before but it's recently been taken over by a top chef and is now in a different league. We booked on line as a group of 6 friends. On arrival, the welcome was extremely friendly and after a drink at the bar were seated in the conservatory. The starters including soft-shell crab, chorizo scotch egg and pigeon breast were absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. Mains included Turkey, Ham and Venison, all to the same standard as the starters. Wine list had a fair range to chose from but we were helped with our selection by the really knowledgeable landlord who looked at what food we had ordered and suggested we try a Greek wine which was amazing ( I never would have chosen it myself ). Whilst the food is really top quality, the atmosphere is relaxed and informal. It's clear that all the food is freshly prepared and the chef takes pride in every detail. Whilst it's not as cheap as normal pub food we all felt it represented exceptional value. Their strap line "Great food, not so snooty" sums it up exactly! We will definitely be back soon.

First of all, the Snooty is not in St Neots but in a nearby village of Great Staughton so more feasible to drive from St Neots. Welcoming interior and staff. Had lunch. Starters were poor value: prawn and crayfish starter at £9 literally consisted of two king prawns on a small lettuce leaf and a very small handful fo crayfish bits. Softshell crab was one tiny battered softshell crab in a huge bowl. However, it was quite tasty. Main courses were better value but still quite expensive for what is essentially a gastropub. Hake and champ with mushroom fricasse was tasty but £19. A game stew was better value at around £12. The service was very efficient and friendly. I want the Snooty to succeed but it does need to rethink either some of its pricing or its portion sizes.

We had a fantastic relaunch meeting at The Snooty Tavern last week - excellent two course lunch - tasty salmon with greens and roast new potatoes, spicy cauliflower for the vegan option and very good desserts - lemon tart, roly poly or Snooty Mess. We had a private room and the use of the garden on a glorious day and Hayley the manageress could not have been more helpful and accommodating publicising the meeting, inviting local business women and making sure all of our members felt most welcome including a 14month old !! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

We had a fantastic meal here a few weeks ago and was so impressed with the service especially from the lovely owner/managers who made us feel really welcome. I called to book a table again today but was informed they were closed for two weeks re opening on 9th October with a new Michelin trained chef. Which sounds excellent, especially as I understand the same managers are continuing to be involved to make sure it gets even better. Good for them. I’ll definitely re-book when they’re open!

First time we have eaten here since the new operators took over. Great friendly welcome from the staff. Good menu, plus a sensible specials menu. We started with lobster tail with aioli, and girolles, both excellent. Main courses were top cap steak, and chicken with beetroot gnocchi filled with goats cheese - all from the specials menu. Well presented dishes and all perfectly cooked - what more can you ask of a restaurant ? Highly recommend.

We had a really lovely meal here with our family of 5 including my mother and two children. The main meals were delicious and the desserts exciting; good to share. We had chosen this pub randomly as a mid-way point but were amazed at how friendly the owners were; we left having been well-fed and really welcomed. I would definitely recommend a visit.

Today we enjoyed a superb Sunday lunch at the Snooty Tavern. Our party consisted of my wife and me, our son and his wife, together with three of our lovely granddaughters. It was a great success - the food was delicious, the menu varied and interesting and the setting relaxed. The extra bonus was the friendliness and efficiency of the staff. In all respects it was a 5-star experience. We recommend the Snooty Tavern unreservedly. We shall certainly return to enjoy more of this exceptional and welcoming out-of-town restaurant!

The name ‘The Snooty Tavern’ is a misnomer. We were greeted by bar server and owner in an engaging and friendly way.The premises are nicely decorated and well laid out. The specials board was quite extensive, and when taken with the daily menu there’s lots of choice. The food was delicious, pork loin for me and fish pie for my wife. Hot and tasty, the kitchen brigade here know what they are about. The prices are very agreeable. All in all a splendid way to spend lunch.

We enjoyed an evening meal for our anniversary. The staff were attentive and truly interested in how we responded to the new menu. There is a choice of steaks but we went for a vegetarian butternut tagine with fresh local vegetables and Hake presented with cauliflower rice, couscous and tempura vegetables in a curry sauce. Delicious! Afterwards I had an Eton Mess. Not so much a mess as a beautifully constructed tower of alternating wafers, fruit and meringue. Will definitely be back for more.

We had sunday lunch here a few weeks ago I ordered the prawn and crayfish starter, and was told that the crayfish was no longer available, I asked if the price would be reduced then for just prawns and was told "no" seeing as crayfish is expensive i was disappointed, one of our party had Pate, on arrival the prawns looked tiny, more like shrimps than prawns, on a lettuce leaf covered in mayonnaise, which didn't appear homemade, and coated in Paprika, I like Paprika and it wasn't an issue, however there was far to much, the Pate was tasteless and again we didn't think it to be homemade. Mains arrived and the meat, Pork and Beef, was lovely, very tasty indeed. The vegetables however were over done, the cauliflower cheese was cooked in cream and was too rich and had very little flavour of cheese. Service at table was very hit and miss, with the waitress asking once if our meal was ok and then spending the next 15 minutes talking to a customer outside, incidentally they have done a rave review of the place and posted pictures of themselves so clearly they are friends of the house.. when we ordered a desert we enquired if it had nuts in it the owner/waitress said she "didn't know but it was a lovely desert and lets ask someone who really likes it!" at this point another waitress was asked, she sensibly enquired if we had a nut allergy, and was told no it was just we didnt like nuts.. When the desert arrived the ice cream had lots of ice in it from either having melted or just been there for a long time, when this was pointed out, having been left, we had an argument with the waitress, my wife has worked in catering for many years and knows what she is talking about, the waitress was trying to tell us this was normal..it isn't. The clue should have been in the fact that the pub was empty apart from three lunch tables and some drinkers, on a Sunday lunch time. This has been a favorite of ours over the years and it has clearly gone downhill from where it was 6 months ago, I hope it will improve..

We just dropped in for a cuppa after cycling around Grafham Water and were given a warm welcome. The food looked and smelled lovely and we decided to have a roast (Greedy as we were going out for dinner the same evening). The table was set up really nicely with a candle and jug of water, nice little touches. The food came within a short time, we had both ordered the beef, it comes quite red (it says on menu which we hadn’t looked at) great for me, my husband asked for it to be cooked a bit longer this was absolutely no problem. The food was spot on (not a pile of mush you get at a carvery) it was properly cooked and flavoured. Can’t recommend this place enough, it’s worth travelling for, the service was both attentive and friendly will defiantly revisit and try out the main menu.

After being regular visitors to this establishment over the past few years under the previous management we decided to return for Sunday lunch last Sunday. I have to say I was impressed with the changes made to the Tavern and particularly to the garden. We had drinks in the bar and then moved into the restaurant proper to have our lunch. The menu offered plenty of choice with two roast joints on offer, beef and pork with the addition of a vegetarian options. Amongst us chose the soup of the day (tomatoe and basil) and prawn cocktail, both excellent and we all chose roast beef with various choices in how we prefer it cooked...all were well executed. Puddings chosen were ice creams and Lemon drizzle cake and custard (which I really enjoyed) and excellent coffee to finish. My only criticism was the flatbread served with the starter, I would have preferred either a roll or bread. The staff were all friendly and helpful and we shall certainly make the Snooty Tavern a regular Sunday lunch venue again and would advise former clients to return.

There are new owners and they are still trying to find their feet, a few wrinkles need ironing out which would make a difference.Sticky pork was tasty as starter, however, the sirloin steak had a lot of gristle and so they offered a free dessert. The lamb burger was unusual but ok. Desserts were good. Lovely lemon possett, brownie was more of a cake but the cheesecake was good.

We arrived with the rain pouring and were very warmly greeted by Ghislaine. She is an absolute delight and a wonderful asset to any company. We ordered the fish pie that was served in good time. It was well flavoured, full of fish and creamy sauce but not hot enough for my liking.I requested they heat it up, this was soon done and I completed my meal at the same time as my companion. The rest of the staff were also very friendly and offered their apologies for the pie not being hot enough. It was a small mishap but they handled it superbly without me feeling it was an imposition or I was in the wrong for asking.Lunching there was a delightful experience and I look forward to eating there again.

I don't often write reviews but thought it only fair to warn people incase they expect a tasty steak. The good points, nice atmosphere friendly staff and good location, both our starters were tasty and hit the spot.Sarah had potato and carrot soup, I had the garlic prawns which I would recommend. For our main meal we both went for the steak 10oz Ribeye priced around £20. If the starters had anything to go by we were in for a treat, unfortunately when they came out we were left very disappointed, both steaks had been over cooked neither of them looked like 10oz and I doubt they were even Ribeye.I was so hungry I ate mine plus a few beers helped as I didn't really care and would just chalk it upto a disappointing meal, Sarah complained and managed to get another steak, I couldn't believe my eyes her second steak came out this time it looked like a Ribeye and was definitely closer to the 10 oz mark than our first ones.I could understand a steak been cooked incorrectly but I couldn't understand why the cut and size was so different from our first one? Makes me wonder what we had the first time it was probably a cheaper cut and definitely not 10oz, they had minute steak on the menu so possibly that's what we paid £20 for. When paying the hefty bill at the end I mentioned it to the waitress and ask why there was a big difference, I didn't get a suitable answer I think she just apologise and thanked me for coming.

After a couple of disappointing roasts in the area, I was losing faith in the pubs near where I live. However, we stumbled across the Snooty Tavern on TripAdvisor, and the photo of the roast beef looked very appealing so I booked a table for myself and three others. We arrived and were greeted warmly by a friendly waitress. We all ordered the roast beef - and it was incredible. Amazingly flavourful, with a home-made yorkshire pudding and delicious gravy. My friend who enjoys rating food on Instagram (He thinks hes a real influencer...) gave the roast 5 stars and agreed it was the best he had tasted at a pub.Desserts were equally as nice, I had a delicious creme brule - and there are other desserts, all home made.I'd strongly recommend giving this place a try!

Visited for an evening meal - open plan space with plenty of tables, relaxing. We sat at the back which had an additional heater so nice and warm. We had steak - which was well cooked and accompanied by pepper corn sauce and chips, and a pie with mash that was significant in size. This was accompanied by wine, good choice by the glass. Finally we had ice cream by the scoop that was ideal as was already fairly full from the main course. Service friendly.

Met up for my fortnightly lunch with my friend. We generally try to find premises to meet up which are located approximately equidistant to our respective homes. This was Our first and definately not last visit to this delightful Tavern. Not only was our hosts pleasant so was the other bar users. The food was delicious and well prepared. The kitchen was open to view from your allotted table. A good job done, especially as they were busy with a large private booking.

We decided to go for an easy Sunday roast and a drink with all the family, just to keep it easy really. I didn’t know what to expect , other than a standard pub roast. However I was so impressed, every element had been cooked and presented with care. Such great flavour and so tasty. Good quality ingredients done well. Reasonable price and great value for the roast we received. The sides of Cauliflower cheese, stuffing balls an absolute must.
