St Judes Brewery Tavern in Ipswich

A good "outlaw" pub full of charm and dark comedy from the owner. Events fill the premises with patrons from different backgrounds. 100% recommend if you want to meet new and interesting people.

Went in with my partner last weekend first time visiting here and will be our last. First thought was, it smelt awful. And staff member was very rude, disrespectful and unwelcoming. Over priced & warm drinks. Don’t waste your time or money. Update as owner responded. That was my Honest opinion of the place , Also I think you are a racist as I did not want to mention how rude you, the owner was being about foreign people living in this country, you were very verbal of your opinions ,Disgusting behaviour!!! especially when the tavern is on a multi cultured street. I’d rather go to Wetherspoons so thanks for the recommendation anywhere is better than this dirty unhygienic, London styled overpriced tavern.

It's been a few years since I was here, and the place had changed. Not aspectically, as it was never nice looking, but they used to have a great range of craft beer but now it is very reduced and not much on offer.

The "Pirate pub" imagine walking into a scene from Treasure island or Pirates of the Caribbean thats St Judes .its an experiance but beware the terrible christmas cracker jokes the landlord will inflict on unwary strangers 🤣

An eclectic, entertaining, wallet friendly experience in a pub that looks like it's been there centuries . Many events, dog friendly, home fan friendly, arts and crafts for sale at venue as well. A home from home for me for at least a decade

I always visit this Ale house when in Ipswich. The bar staff are friendly and talkative, and there are some good ales to have a go at, including a £2.50 football match day ale. When inside the Tavern it feels as if you are being transported back in time, with its old wooden floorboards and dimly lit flickering candle lights. A must visit tavern whilst in Ipswich.

Always wanted to walk in, having walked past on the way to town. Great atmosphere and selection of local ales

We popped in here for a cheeky pint with my GF. Always been a fun favourite of mine. Barman trashed the vibe instantly with some xenophobic chat😞 about London / Islam / The Somalis. Not the one for me that. Mood Killer.

Lovely people serving delicious beers of all nature. Breathtaking views of behinds behind the bar and frontal views also. An electrician often turns his hands to help serve beers and offer priceless advice on condition and characteristics of ales & the like. (This establishment has sole ownership of all their jokes: and All quotations or vocal broadcast of any such material shall be governed by their statutory rights of ownership unless agreement be met prior to closing time on the same day.) Quirky,quaint and quite quantifying quality all round. Your round!

Best pub in ipswich by a long shot. Atmosphere is great. The bar has got that traditional boozer vibe and it pulls it off perfectly. The prices are un matched. They brew some of their own alcohol so anything from the barrel supports them directly and every drop is delicious everytime. The owner is what makes this pub the place the visit. The funniest most charismatic pub landlord in the Suffolk peninsula 10/10 keep up the great work guys. Me and my freinds have since become regulars wouldn't feel comfortable spending my hard earned cash anywhere else!

Every time I go in this wonderful quirky pub I just love it more. Wonderful friendly atmosphere, interesting people to always chat with, excellent selection of real ales on tap, it is like a bigger version of The Nutshell in Bury. Dog friendly. Certainly a must if you are in Ipswich go and enjoy a pint or two !!!

Well what can I say I've never been to Ipswich before so this was a first. Was looking for local alternative places to try out. We wasn't disappointed the bar staff were super friendly, great quality and prices for drinks. Local DJ night was loads of fun from classic rock to black metal was very varied to meet everybody's preferences. Also got to meet the owner too who was really accommodating and friendly. The place is super quirky and if we're ever in the area again we'll definitely be returning.

Went in to catch up with a friend. Staff and owner both very welcoming and great characters. Great selection of beer and bar snacks and a unique and quirky Decor - especially the smoking area!

Found this place by accident on a night out. It was very quirky, even "funny peculiar" but we were welcomed by very friendly people and had a great evening.

Fab range of beers all served in a lovely old building crammed with personality- as is the jovial landlord. He also brews a lovely pint of Amber ale.

Feels like the inhabitants of an Austrian haunted house from the 1800s decided that haunting was rather a dull affair and set up a pub in Ipswich instead. Gothic pub for people who like real ale and cobwebs rather than Stella and crisps.

This really is a hidden gem, a pub that has beer supplied by a local brewery. Many different ales available. Great beer. Most of all a terric atmosphere. Well worth a visit.

Quirky and a bit basic but we'll worth a visit.

Visiting from Derby, I had an hour to kill. I wish I'd had a week to spare. The staff are great, beer fabulous and English traditional, no juke box, no pool table, a wide selection of old and fascinating books on wooden shelves. I could go on for ages about a blissful hour I spent here.

I am a little biased towards this place as I know the people very well and have never had a bad experience always made to feel at home and one of the gang x could say I'm part of the furniture x

Authentic town pub, excellent range of beers

This is a proper spit and sawdust drinkers pub. Great selection of real ales. Does a good deal for Ipswich Town fans offering a pie and pint on a match day for £5 Look out for the taxidermy bat's on the walls. Lots of interest on the walls to view.

Always loved this micro pub. They sell ale straight out of the barrels selection is always varied and the staff are always nice and willing to let you sample.

Great beer and landlord but don't go in on quiz night unless you are taking part. Quizmaster very aggressive got in my wife's face in an aggressive manner because he felt we were too noisy.

Great pub with friendly landlord and staff, good selection of real ale. Funny quiz night every other Sunday. You can even take in your take away to enjoy with a pint!

Am a regular there for Dungeons and Dragons nights with some mates. Always friendly, excellent bar staff and lovely atmosphere. Dog friendly (if you're reading this, bring your husky so we can pet it!)

Wonderful pub, characters a plenty and tasty ales to boot. A must for real ale drinkers with a fine selection to sample.

Good variety of beers and ciders, but very quiet. Quite suited for local drinkers, or those owning their own tankards (who get a 20p discount for bringing their own glass). The decoration inside is gloomy and old pub style, and the place smells of the wood panelling which adorns the walls. Bar staff friendly enough though and can't complain!
