Every weekend I travel around the UK sightseeing and eating out and not once have I ever felt i needed to write a negative review. until today.
This cafe has been the worst all rounder experience.
Overpriced
Bad quality food - Salty and Bitter coffee.
Rude owner - attitude and even swearing.
Extremely overpriced, £9 for “small”
2 bits of bacon, 2 small over cooked eggs and a piece of lukewarm toast and £11.50 for the “large” breakfast.
The food was very salty and the coffee was bitter to taste.
When questioned about the lack of food of the price, the owner was extremely rude and nasty, told us tuff, so had no choice to eat it and over heard him saying " Fk them", zero customer service, it was like he took it as personal attack that we wasn’t happy to the point I felt that I had to leave my phone on record while we ate due to his attitude.
Even when we left the cafe, he still harassed us.
Avoid this cafe.
Great experience from start to finish. Service was great, lovely lady. Food was delicious. My husband said it was the best steak he has had out for a long long time. I had the veal, it was delicious. Clean tidy. Will definitely be back. Thank you very much.
Lovely food and really great service , I had a Brie veggie burger , honestly it was really good and inventive too .
The chef told me how they did it I was very impressed !
I regret having to give the Catherine Wheel a terrible review because I have eaten there before without problem. This review is not directed at the servers but our family meal on Good Friday fell far short of our expectations. Our party of 10 included 3 young children but our meals were not served for over an hour following the starters. 3 plates of lamb were then returned because they were under cooked - raw in places, tough, sinewy and impossible to cut. They eventually took these off the bill but their first reaction was to maintain there was nothing wrong. We declined their offer to re cook or replace the meals because, by then, we just wanted to leave.
Maybe someone in the kitchen just had a bad day but it certainly spoiled our Easter get-together.
We love the pub , the staff are great BUT the menu is small so ,as we ended up doing, ordered something that we really didn't want save for going somewhere else which, on Saturday night not on. Food was OK but even though asked for completely plain burger came with gherkins a pet hate of my wife.
Happy to go again but not for food!
Wonderful lunch for a special birthday. We were a large group of family and friends and the lunch was handled perfectly. The staff and service were excellent and the food exceptional as always.
Ordered cod roe chips and a battered sausage which was enemic batter was under cooked.
Cod Roe was soggy under cooked and an inedible mess. Chips were obviously pre cooked and reheated . Won't be visiting this chippy again . Poplars is much better quality all round. (Picture proof attached)
We visited whilst on holiday in the area. We were greeted by very friendly staff. Although the restaurant was busy, being a Saturday evening, we were not rushed and enjoyed a leisurely meal. My friend is coeliac and the menu offered her lots of choice. The food was delicious, the service was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening.
Great food, good service, nice surroundings ample parking. We were a large group and the chef managed to serve us all at the same time with hot, tasty quality food. The staff were pleasant and and efficient. We will be back.
