Great village pub with lots of atmosphere in the front and sports on TV separate in the back. Fantastic homemade pie and the chilli was divine.

Outside area seems neglected, the tables were filthy and looked like they hadn’t ever been cleaned. Didn’t want to eat off them. Unsure why they aren’t wiped down regularly? The cushions and blankets were filthy too. The food and staff were good though.

Booked in advance for a group of 11, many incorrect orders, portions not very generous, mackerel salad was 1 fillet with mostly lettuce at £14 and a hours wait fot it all. Overall a bit disappointing.

Last weekend we celebrated our daughters birthday with a party in the Barn at The Rose & Crown Welwyn. It is a stunning venue. If you are looking for a smaller gathering (maximum 75 guests for a party set up), I would highly recommend it. It is a self-contained space with its own bar and toilet facilities. The staff are all wonderful, helpful, attentive, and very welcoming. We self catered for our party, therefore I have not rated the catering on this occasion but having eaten in the pub previously on many occasions I can say the quality, taste and presentation of the food they offer is worthy of a visit to this wonderful pub.

I really like this pub but today it fell short, i took my elderly mum out for her first trip in ages and she was very excited at the prospect of a nice pudding. When it came to ordering, we were told that the kitchen was closed and the chef had left? We’d missed it by 10 minutes! Surely we could’ve been told that if we wanted something to hurry up and order then it wouldn’t have been a problem, unfortunately, we were all left disappointed 🙁

Nice and warm little pub. Been here a few times now, and every time it's been nice. Great service, the guys and girls working there, they are always happy to help, smiling and easy to talk too. Will definitely come back again for some of those hot chicken wings and a nice pint of Neckoil.

Today was the second time we've visited the Rose and Crown and both times we've enjoyed lovely food, great service from the staff and good conversation around a table for 8. I would recommend this lovely local to anyone.

We celebrated my wife's 60th Birthday in The Barn, having previously done the same for mine, once again we were not disappointed. The "space" is perfect for a Party, room for an independent DJ (if that's your thing), very generous Buffet and your own Bar (staff were very friendly and accommodating) with wide selection of beers on tap. Would highly recommend.

Visited here for my friends wedding reception, I cannot fault the venue or the service. All staff were so friendly, quick behind the bar, and so happy, which makes such a difference. I've never been to an establishment where the staff have made the night so special. If I'm honest, I will be returning because of them, what a beautiful, wonderful, capable and just all round incredible team. Beck, Alex and Laura in particular were brilliant I highly recommend this pub for its vibes for casual drinks, banging food, fabulous atmosphere and just a great night all round. Pub has a lovely outdoor area and inside is decorated beautifully. Get yourself down there.

A super festival, well organised and a great chance to visit a really cool pub. Nice cold beers went down super well on such a nice day in the beer garden.

We visit every week for our club sandwich and drink - highly recommend the club sandwich! Always really high quality and staff are always very friendly and welcoming. We find it to be a very comfortable and lovely village pub.

Oh dear....nice looking pub but won't be back..for food anyway....really not great quality at all.i observed previous comment from.manager in which he said he would have been pleased if it had been mentioned at the time . So , a complaint was made...politely ...and in due course a second dish was given ..it took so long that the rest of the party were nearly finished. .second dish ...still not good..overcooked and tough...very bland pasta..no parmesan available so was given cheddar.????????..most of the second dish was left....server failed to notice this or use intuition to ask anything. Another one of our party also had this dish and ate it. ...as edible ...but not tasty.....all in all the various meals were only adequate. There was lack of flavours seemed like a novice in the kitchen and cheap ingredients. Sorry about this I don't like to run a business down. I love to see a business succeed. But if you ask for a review I'm not going to lie and if you get quite a few negative reviews...all about food...then I would respectfully suggest you address the problem instead of apologising ..you need a more incentive or experienced chef in my view

Comfortable local village pub, great quality food and service in a cosy family atmosphere.

A lovely meal outside in the warm evening. Would have given it 5 but a couple of dishes- gnocchi and biscoff sundae weren’t the best. Everything else was tasty and the ambiance good

Great little pub in a beautiful village. The food is average but the location and outdoor space are great for drinks.

Ate and drank at the Rose & Crown on 13.05.24. Really friendly staff who clearly put in lots of effort. Guinness was well above average - a very decent pint. The food was not memorable, but OK. I wouldn't travel purely for the food but the overall experience was positive.

Service and place was nice but food was disappointing. One dish was burnt and over cooked so had to go back, bread with extremely toasted for dipping oil so didn't work. Some dishes very nice but not enough to want to return.

4 of us went for lunch. I thought it was expensive for pub. I had a salad it was nice. But I wouldn't go back as it's beyond my budget.

Sorry Rose and Crown - staff and service was very good for this Mothers Day but ..food not so.we were in early so thought foid should be hot ! Mine was scampi- chips poor peas cold and not cooked. My son had the veggie roast - looked good but potatoes weren't nice and some veggie burnt 😒

This is the first time we've eaten here since the new owners, Christine and Jeremy took over. The pub was packed, but had a fantastic atmosphere. The food was the most impressive thing though...clearly, they have a great kitchen team, as the food was hot, plentiful, interesting and delicious. Oh, and really good value for money.

I had my 30th party at the barn which is situated at the back of the pub. It's a scary thing to put your trust into a venue that will host a big celebration, but I can say without hesitation that management and bar staff were amazing through the whole process, from being quick at responding, catering to my needs and just overal helpfulness and politeness. The bar girls on the night couldn't do enough for us all! The venue itself is beautiful, its perfect for 50-70 guests and it has a very cosy and warm vibe, with art on the walls and fairy lights. Parking on the street is free after 6.30pm outside the pub. The venue hire is extremely good value for money compared to other venues that in my opinion are not as nice. A great time was had by all and a few of my guests have already commented that they would 100% hire the barn for an event themselves in the future. Thank you so much to Christine, Liz and the team!

We went for a Sunday roast with friends who had been before. What a dreadful meal we had. 3 attempts and still wrong. 1st time 2 meals got served up incorrectly,so the waitress took all 4 meals away. Eventually returned the 4 meals, and we called her over and told her the meals are cold,to which she asked what did we want!!! If could have a hot dinner,she took the meals away and 20minutes later we got our meals back and guess what!! Still cold. We called the waitress over and said these are still cold, which she replied,what do you want me to do !!! I can get you hot gravy as I don't know what else you want,so we got hot gravy, not the answer. We then had the offer of a pudding or 20% discount,we took the latter as we all felt very awkward. What we do not understand is why we witnessed other people being served piping hot roast dinners with the steam coming off them, how could the chef not get ours right. Will we return NO would we recommend Definitely NOT and what a shame.

We had our wedding reception at the barn the Saturday just gone and it was amazing, it was set up exactly how we wanted which took a lot of stress out of our day. Christine and her team could not have done more for us, from start to finish it was just perfect. I could not recommend this place any more even if I tried. I’m not sure I can write a review that does our experience at The Barn justice. We held our wedding celebration here and are just chuffed to have found it. Firstly, the food was amazing, it went down a treat and our guests have said how good it was. We had day and evening food and both were spot on. The venue is beautiful, a barn with character, exactly what we were looking for. The barn itself has been done so nicely we found that minimal decoration was needed. Christine and her team went above and beyond. Christine was easy to contact and was always able to offer advice without ever being pushy. The barn was set up perfectly on the day. Everything ran seamlessly and we never had to worry, meaning we could just enjoy our day. I would highly recommend using The Barn for an event. We couldn’t have asked for anymore, they helped make our day perfect.

This is a review more specifically of The Barn at The Rose and Crown, which is a venue situated at the back of pub in their beautiful courtyard. Last weekend my husband and I had our wedding there, and it was absolutely faultless from start to finish. Christine, one of the managers, had guided us through the planning for months. Her previous career was as a wedding planner, which was invaluable. She is incredibly organised and reliable. The team at the pub are also brilliant, and they catered for our every wish. Christine's attention to detail is remarkable, and she ensured the day ran faultlessly, smoothly and brilliantly. Jeremy, the other manager works tirelessly too, and he also happens to be a fantastic bloke! Praise must also be given to Liz, who now runs The Barn as a venue. All their work is so discreet yet efficient. As a guest, you never see the hard graft going on behind the scenes to make your event run perfectly. The Barn itself is a beautiful place, suitable for any occasion, and it was simply perfect for our wedding. It's relaxed and informal, yet chic and stylish. The garden area at the back is glorious, and as the daylight fades the festoon lights sparkle above the tables. This area is open to regular drinkers when there is no private event at The Barn, so it can usually be enjoyed by everyone. The Rose and Crown team allowed us to personalise our buffet menu for our guests, which was amazing. Matt the chef did an incredible job catering for our 70 friends and family. Everyone just loved the food, it was gorgeous! We cannot thank the team at The Rose and Crown enough for giving us the most perfect wedding we could have ever wished for. I would encourage anyone local looking for a venue for any event to check out this gorgeous place. You are in impeccable hands. Add to all of this a delightful, traditional and cosy pub at the front, which we often visit just for a casual drink or bite to eat. Christine and Jeremy have really brought the pub to life in the last 3 years, and they deserve every credit and accolade they hopefully receive for their remarkable and hard work. Just called in for a quick Shandy each in the afternoon. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The pub is very nice inside and has loads of outdoor seating. We had intended to return for a meal in the evening but unfortunately did not get back in time. It will be top priority next time we are in the area.

Communication with the Rose and Crown team was fantastic and booking was easy with all our requirements catered for. The day ran smoothly- fantastic refreshments and lunch. Our dedicated staff member Rosie went above and beyond throughout the day and ensured all our needs were catered for. A lovely location, easy parking, friendly and professional staff, great service and fantastic food. Would highly recommend for corporate and social events.

Gorgeous pub with a lovely garden. We arrived after checking the menu online - looking forward to a fish goujon sandwich. Unfortunately the sandwich had been recently taken off the menu. One of the lovely staff, Rosie, went and spoke to the chef who then made us the sandwich anyway - talk about amazing customer service! The sandwich was amazing too, just what we needed. We were also really impressed with the amount of alcohol free options the bar offered, very inclusive! All in all a brilliant visit with lovely, friendly staff. If we lived closer, this would definitely be our new local 🤩

Myself & Fiancé booked an outside pod for lunch. It was a scorching hot day and never been before didn’t know if tables had umbrellas so booked the pod thinking it would shade us. Once we arrived we sat in the pod which was lovely an private but as it was so hot we didn’t get much of a breeze so it was quite stuffy. There was an empty table with umbrellas so decided to sit there instead which wasn’t a problem and had a lovely breeze. The service was good, the food was good but i think £25 for the platter was a bit pricey for what you got. Jacket potato was nice. Nice garden, nice surroundings. Would definitely return to try different things on the menu.

A great catch up with friends for lunch and food presentation was good. The mains chosen were southern fried chicken burgers with fries ,Grilled chicken fillet with fries,corn,BBQ beans and a jacket potato with cheese and beans. Drinks ordered were white wine,Gluten free beer and a lager. Service was friendly. Food was tasty.

This pub is an amazing find. Their attention to detail is wonderful. The customer service is warm and just super efficient. The food was outstanding. Fresh and beautifully seasoned dishes. And OMG the desserts are just heavenly. A beautiful gem worthy of Michelin stars. The atmosphere is warm and lovely. You guys just got everything perfect.

this is one of my local pubs and its great all-roind for reasonable price food, and / or a few drinks.

It was very busy. The service was good. Fully explained the waiting time for food and it came out roughly at the time they said it would, but the quality of food was poor. I think the kitchen was overwhelmed and couldn't handle the amount of food that had to be served.

Booked a table for lunch on Father’s Day. Busy little pub but staff were lovely and efficient. The Sunday roast was wonderful. Beef fell apart and tasted delicious. The broccoli cheese needs improvement. But for a Sunday lunch it was one of the best I’ve had in the area. Partner had scampi and chips. The chips were meh- Nothing special at all. The kids dessert- the dessert factory. What an excellent idea. They absolutely loved it and a massive portion per child. All in all we will definitely be back for another wonderful Sunday lunch. It didn’t disappoint

Pub Grub but better quality than many.

Rosie fitted us in at very short notice today. 10 adults 3 children aged under 4. We had a lovely dinner and she gave us great service. All food came out together and drinks order taken on arrival. Splendid! Thanks for accommodating our large party at 10 minutes notice. 5 stars!

Popped in here for lunch on a weekday and it was great. The staff were really friendly and attentive, and it just feels like a really nice village pub. We had the mac and cheese and the crispy buttermilk chicken, and I'd recommend both.

I went to a surprise 70th birthday party, held in the barn. A perfect place to celebrate the venue was beautiful, we had our own bar and facilities. Rosie and Hayden could not have been more helpful. Would highly recommend.

Love the decorations. Food was OK. The staffs were attentive. They have loads of board games to entertain impatient children too.

We hired the barn for a surprise 60th celebration and it was perfect. The barn is a beautiful rustic look with great lights already installed and also has music connections from a phone so no need for Dj with lighting for dancing. Definitely would hire again and the staff are lovely and extremely helpful. Thank you all for an amazing night

Great pub, great food, excellent friendly and efficient staff. First visit with friends who live in the area, but will be coming again. Shows this is a good well run pub by how busy it was on a cold Monday lunch time in January. Well done to staff and management!
