Food is good staff are friendly. Bar side gets very busy at weekends but generally it’s a good atmosphere. Food is gluten free. Pool team are fantastic.

Came here purely as it's all gluten free. Love the idea of making all the favourites that coeliacs can no longer have and crave. Staff were really sweet. Food was well priced and very tasty. Not fancy but good, honest pub food.

Thought to try out our local pub and we were greeted and served really politely. Rachel the owner threw in a massive discount as a good will gesture which shocked my partner and I. Today, after taking my dog for a walk, we popped into the Sheldon Inn. We sat in the garden, which was very relaxed. I have never had so much gluten-free choice on a menu. The food tasted amazing and the staff was absolutely fantastic.

Great food. As other reviews say it's all gluten free but as someone who can eat gluten, I wouldn't have noticed. The chicken and rice was tasty, lots of it, and not greasy. My friends fajitas and lasagne also looked amazing. The roast was a bit mediocre and the food took an hour, but we were a somewhat large group so understandable

Strange old place. No Lager on tap on a Saturday. Strongbow sold in cans as.draught off.. Friendly bar staff. Some very odd.and excitable patrons.

Lovely food, friendly staff and best of all: completely gluten free! Great to not have to be on guard if that what is on the menu is really okay for coeliacs.

So pleased my friend told me about this place, me and my dad both require a gluten free diet and it was so good not to have to choose between a few options that are an after thought on a menu. My dad was so happy that he could finish my mums halloumi bites as normally her food wouldn't be gluten free. We went with 5 people who weren't gluten free and they enjoyed their food as much as we did. Every member of staff we encountered was so friendly, it was like going round your friends for a meal! We will definitely be returning!!

I am delighted that we've found the Sheldan Inn. Being a Coeliac, eating somewhere safe and 100% gluten free is so difficult. Rachel and Dan totally put me at ease, spent time to reassure me that all food is gluten free using a completely gluten-free kitchen. Such lovely people that just get the worries and fears us people with Coeliac have to deal with. Fabulously tasty food with a great, extensive menu. We will be back. Highly recommend.

Really great place! So much choice of gluten free food and kids meals (my 2yo really enjoyed her dinner). I also really appreciated the long list of non/low alcoholic drinks. Will definitely be going back.

Had a great lunch today at the Sheldan Inn in Welwyn Garden City. Very extensive menu (including a kids menu) and friendly and knowledgable staff. This is an all gluten free pub, but don’t let that put you off if you don’t need GF food. One of our party needed GF, but the rest didn’t and you certainly wouldn’t know it was GF. As it was Sunday, most of the adults went for roast, which came with an excellent Yorkshire pud, stuffing, veg and delicious parsnips, done in a way that was new for me. My sister had a Chinese beef dish with egg fried rice which she quickly polished off. Generous portions and good value - we’ll be back.

Took my family here for daughters birthday. She and myself are both coeliac, it made a nice change to be able to choose anything from the only menu and not ask for an allergies menu. My daughter had nachos with chees for starters and a cheese and bacon burger with sweet potato fries. I had potato skins with bacon and cheese for starters and chicken balls, egg fried rice and sweet and sour sauce. (Haven't had a good Chinese meal since being coeliac) The portion size are large. The meal was a very good price for what was served. I will be going again very soon. Would highly recommend this pub to anyone with coeliac or not.

I've been here 3 times within a month now after only having found out about The Sheldan Inn the month before. The food is fantastic. We opted for different burgers every time, and they have always been delicious. Very friendly and welcoming staff as well. Lots of choice on other foods as well as a great selection of non alcoholic drinks other than just soft drinks. Being a Coeliac, it's so good to have found a pub that caters for a gluten free diet (the kitchen is 100% gf, so really safe for Coeliacs). Will be back soon.

We visited the Sheldan after discovering the menu is entirely gluten free. As a coeliac living just half an hour away this seemed like a godsend!! I was so excited to be able to go out and pick whatever I wanted off the menu and to feel safe eating it. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the nicest experience here. Initially we had unknowingly booked our meal on a day when there was an event on with a DJ, so when we found this out the day before we decided we would just sit outside. However, despite changing our booking to outside our table had not been reserved - and initially when my Dad arrived and was told by a staff member where to sit, one of the locals was incredibly rude to him when he politely told him the table he was sitting at was booked (there was only the one table big enough for us). In my opinion this shows you the type of people come to this pub! The garden area itself is very small, untidy and just generally didn’t have a nice feel. I feel like it could be made so much nicer fairly easily. Despite the area we were in supposedly being the non smoking area, we kept being joined by groups of young lads smoking right next to where we were sitting (and also just generally being loud and swearing repeatedly). At the front of the outside area was a group of men smoking weed, also swearing loudly. We aren’t snobby people but the whole vibe just made me and my partner feel incredibly uncomfortable and unsafe and to be honest we couldn’t wait to leave. I think it would have been marginally better if we were sat inside, but due to the event on which had a very loud DJ from 7.30pm it wasn’t exactly practical for us to have our family meal inside that day. I’m not sure why events like that can’t wait until a little later when people have eaten? When our food arrived it was ok - mine and my partner’s meals were really nice, although other members of our party weren’t keen on theirs and said the gammon was really tough. The food is very reasonably priced but the meals are fairly small. The menu is also very extensive which was great - it’s just really disappointing that we didn’t feel comfortable enough to want to return. Our waiter was great and a really lovely guy, super friendly and helpful and I couldn’t fault him at all. It’s just a shame about the general atmosphere, and the fact that staff members didn’t seem to be acknowledging that large groups were blatantly sat smoking in the non smoking area and spoiling our meal. I did consider going in to inform a member of staff (also about the group smoking weed), but to be honest I felt way too uncomfortable to even get up from my table to go inside. From what I have heard about the pub and the new landlady, they have made big improvements and have tried to turn the pub around. Sadly, I don’t think that’s quite happened yet and unfortunately we won’t be returning. I’m super disappointed because as a coeliac this could have been a regular place for me to go to - but we just felt so uncomfortable the whole time we were there and sadly this has put us off future trips.

We live locally and had our first experience of the food from this pub. The online ordering experience is great and pain-free. The food itself was hot and yummy, with generously sizes portions. My husband was super happy with his big daddy burger. Lovely to see the food being served in recyclable cartons! We'd definitely have the food again. Thank you.

No tier 2 rules followed. The toilets are full of empty see through bags (drugs). Regulars walk all over doing as they please without masks or following any rules. The landlady clearly can’t control this. Me and my family did not feel safe.

Well worth a visit - whether or not you are looking for gluten free options, this is a great place to eat. Sunday roast - both vegan and meat - were superb and puddings were amazing. I would have liked a little more gravy with my roast and for the gravy to come at the same time as my meal- but the food was lovely and we will definitely be coming back.

What a difference a few years make. Pub looks welcoming its clean and tidy. Temperature checks and hand sanitiser in place plus able to order from your phone. Food was very nice and presented nicely. Big daddy burger and onion rings amazing.

Walked a little way from my home near the town centre to find this pub for a sunday lunch. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the handling of the covid directives was the best I have experienced anywhere, the treatment of me as a solo customer was excellent (not welcomed at all in several other local establishments...you would think they would welcome the business at this time) and the food was great value....no, better than that....it was in my opinion under priced for a lovely tasting roast lamb. The place is spotlessly clean too and I hope they can survive the covid situation because they thoroughly deserve to. Great local pub, thoroughly recommended.

The best place to get gluten free. They have kept us going during lockdown with their Del with and now I can still order food and collect without having to go inside! The food is fresh, tasty and well priced. Happy with our new “local” find.

This pub is greatduring covid i got a takeaway which was gluten free and tasty. tried now open and was nervous due to covidthey are clean with extra hand sanitisers you have to book a table to sit at and 2 hour slots while restrictions in placewill definitely visit again

We wanted a takeaway, not stodge but rather real food and we saw these guys on Facebook and thought we would give them a try.. well we have been having deliveries from here now throughout lockdown and all I can say is Wow! We have made our way through the various dishes on offer and not one dish has disappointed us. Everything is obviously made fresh, arrives seriously piping hot, huge portions and so tasty. The puddings have been to die for! Customer service has been exceptional and all I can say is that this is one business that has met the current scenario head on ... well done guys. We look forward to continuing to partake of the delivery service for now and will be visiting when you are open once more!

At the moment we are in lockdown but The Sheldon is delivering. I don't know anywhere else that delivers Sunday lunch so was pleased to find it here. As I live alone, I rarely cook a roast although I love them. My meal was delivered on time by a pleasant lady, and it was piping hot. There was roast beef and potatoes, 3 types of veg including swede which I love, Yorkshire pud and delicious gravy. Oh and a portion of horseradish sauce. I really enjoyed it all and it was such a treat not to have to clear up afterwards. I would definitely recommend.

As the lockdown was looming my Husband and I thought we'd go for a cheeky pint or two before we picked the kids up from school The Sheldan Inn is our local and absolutely loved the fact the pub had been taken in to the very capable hands of the new land lady Rachel. The Sheldan Inn has experienced a very rocky past so to see our local pub shine once again is amazing! We have enjoyed every visit past and present but there's such good vibes in the Sheldan with Rachel and her team. Rachel has strived to make the pub a success although things haven't been easy in our present situation but I take my hat off to her as she will not be knocked down and has overcome all the hurdles along the way. Well done to Rachel and team. X

Had a delivery from here recently and was blown away by how great the food was. It was really nice to be delivered a hearty and quite obviously home cooked meal. I had the fish pie and its honestly one of the best I've had. I was recommended the home made cheesecakes (which I'm told change weekly). I had the salted caramel Baileys flavour, and it was simply amazing! I could have quite happily eaten a couple more. Can't recommend the sheldan enough. Customer service was spot on and the contact free delivery was a nice touch (excuse the pun) will definitely be ordering again.

My partner and I enjoyed a relaxing evening at The Sheldan Inn (before lockdown!). We had a few drinks, watched the football in comfy sofas on the big screen. There was a nice community atmosphere. We are looking forward to returning to sample the food menu!

I heard a few months back that The Sheldan Inn was under management, so decided to go and check it out. The pub is light, airy and has a really relaxed vibe to it. Friendly, knowledgable staff on hand at every turn. Various beers on tap to suit every taste. The food was freshly cooked and arrived to the table well presented and timely. For the price you are paying for a main meal, the portions are incredibly generous. Gluten free options on most meals as well, which is very important. Menus clearly marked with gluten free and veggie options. A great specials board as well! Managed to have a chat with the new landlady Rachel, who was so enthusiastic about this new venture. She had lots of plans she wanted to get started on, and she was determined to make a success of The Sheldan Inn. Since my visit, the pub is temporarily closed due to Covid-19. Whilst this might have been a devastating blow to a fledgling project/career, I have heard that Rachel has turned this to her advantage and has created a takeaway delivery service for her local community. This not only allows The Sheldan Inn to get a bit of money coming in to help with these troubling times, it’s also proving to bond the local community and allow Rachel to really show the kind of spirit she wants for her pub. Good food, friends, family, all welcome and included. All in all, I had a fantastic first visit and I look forward to going back when lockdown is over. Sadly, I live too far away to take advantage of the amazing Sunday Roast deliveries.

Had a delivery from here tonight and have to say it was fantastic! Ordering was easy, delivery on time and food pipping hot and lovely. Between us we had the potato topped beef and mushroom pie, hunters chicken, chips with cheese and bacon and a children's fish finger meal. Everything was delicious. Rachel was even happy to check ingredients for my daughters multiple allergies. Then there was pudding.......the CHEESECAKE....I had the mini eggs one and I can see why it keeps selling out it is simply amazing. We also had chocolate cake and ice cream again all lovely. We will definitely be ordering again. Really friendly landlady with a real attention to detail. If this is what you can do with takeaway food I can't wait until you re-open and we try an eat in meal. Visited for dinner and it didn’t disappoint.As a gluten free diner to have the freedom of choice across an entire menu and not sit with something you didn’t really want but it’s what you could have while drooling over your fellow diners choices is the best feeling!Not just for dinner but for the sides and then pudding that made me undo my top button on the way home!Not disappointed and will go back!

Met family for our annual Xmas pressie swap and the first impression on arrival friendly warm typical local pub atmosphere..... food was amazing served to our table by the chef himself who couldn’t be more polite and very helpful bar staff (Rachel landlady) who took our order was very helpful with anything we didn’t understand on the menu..... menu is all gluten free catered for my vegetarian niece too!!!! Fast friendly service would highly recommend it I have visited a few times since and seems to get better each time!!!!!!

Quiet with nice atmosphere for a drink and a chat, pleasant staff with a smiling welcome. Clean tables and comfortable seating, good level of background music not intruding into conversation.
