Such a great spot, the staff are so friendly and were joking around with my group, got to know us by name too. Food was insanely good, I had the scallops and some egg fried rice aswell as some prawn spring rolls. I'm not someone who usually likes too much spice, but it was perfect for me, the flavors were amazing.
Everything in general was great but the service was just top tier!
Thank you to James and the team for a lovely meal :)
We had not visited the Bank since pre- lockdown, having been many times previously. We found the attitude and attentiveness of the staff was sadly lacking now. We ordered and when the food came we had no cutlery and had to request napkins. My wife chose lamb biryani. The lamb was very tender but the sauce was bland and lacking flavour. I had the Nepalese style chicken curry and it was delicious. We felt the tables were too close together, in spite of social distancing rules. Overall we felt the place was lacking the friendly, attentive service previously offered. Disappointed.
Visited again March 2025. Still no change in our opinion. Food ok but atmosphere still lacking.
We enjoyed an excellent meal, choosing from a varied menu. The restaurant was warm, and inviting - a lovely space. The staff were friendly and attentive and we felt the food was of very good value. We will return.
Tasty and hot Sunday roast to day
It was delicious.
Lots off peas as I had my husbands lol
Mark was managing today
Missed Lynn ,
The staff were very helpful and friendly.
Thank you
We had an amazing dinner. The food was absolutely delicious, from the starters to the desserts. The ambiance was cozy and authentic, making it a great spot for a relaxed night out. Music selection was perfect.
But what truly made the evening special was our waiter, Jack Thomas. He was incredibly attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. Jack went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed (we had a baby with us) and even recommended a wine that paired perfectly with our meal. His service elevated the whole experience.
Not sure how this place has such a high rating. The prawn cocktail was so bad please please don't order as a starter. Overall, it probably serves the local community well but for someone who lives in London and was hoping for something great, this was a stark reminder why I love London. Setting is nice and would be good for a date but if your looking for top notch food, it's looking tricky.
Traditional old English pub with some of the best food in the south east. This is our go to “local” from Great Notley, great selection of ales and ciders, plus your normal largers and Guinness. The house wine is always spot on. My reason for writing this review is the food, it’s just great. With no chain franchise to pay, the ingredients are always top quality, the menu is adventurous but supported by staple fare like the sumptuous hot pot, pictured below. The pub is dog friendly and the staff welcoming.
Holy smokes! I've lived within 30 minutes of this place for nearly 20 years and never ate here. It is incredible! This was the first of many visits to come in future! Thank you so much for the attention to detail with all 3 courses - soup and pate for starters, chicken and pork for main, sinkhole cheesecake and bread pudding for afters. You can tell the owners really care and take huge pride in what they've created. Staff are attentive and polite. Nice atmosphere as a very small restaurant so not too noisy. Will see you again soon!
