Unfortunately the fish and chip shop we usually order from was closed so we used the next best reviewed. The chips were soggy the fish was full of grease the chicken was very dry the curry sauce was like water I had to airfry the chips. And it cost me £50.58. Had to give 1 star but it deserved 0 stars

Cod was amazing, chips were very anaemic and needed a bit more cooking unfortunately. The tartare sauce was a month passed the best before date though. It was a sachet so I am sure it would would good for a while yet but it’s a bit off putting, and maybe need to look at stock rotation.

I came from Germany to Southend. I got to admit these are the best fish and chips I’ve ever eaten! Also the portions are big. The taste is fantastic. The employees are very nice and funny. I am wishing the best for this great team and restaurant!

Highly recommended. Delicious fish and chips served with a warm smile! Fish has a lovely crispy batter. Chips cooked to perfection. Fried chicken also very tasty! The staff are really friendly and by our second visit were greeting us as old friends. Glad we found this gem!

I have been in the area for 57 years - born in flats above here :) I can genuinly say that Rams Fish Bar, which over the years has had a number of owners, some good some bad, is now absolutely exceptional. Located conveniently in Woodgrage Drive for the way home to the East of Central Southend there is also pleanty of parking. The cod here is absolutely amazing—cooked to perfection with a crispy, golden batter that seals in all the flavor and moisture. Each bite was a delightful combination of crunch and tender, flaky fish. It's clear that they use high-quality, fresh ingredients, which makes all the difference. The chips at Rams Fish Bar are hands down the best in town. They are perfectly cooked, with a crunchy exterior and a soft, fluffy interior. Definitely in my top 5 of fish and chips i have ever had. I've had fish and chips all over the UK, but this one really surprised me. Bit of a long wait but it was worth it. Fresh cod, light crispy batter, perfectly cooked and very good chips. Very impressive!

Just moved into the area, scouted around for a decent local chippy and came across Rams Fish Bar with its mostly 4- and 5-star reviews. Decided to give them a go, and I was NOT disappointed! Very friendly welcome for me as a first-time customer. I can't eat a huge portion anymore, and bought the OAP Special - this is a smaller portion size of fish and chips. It was the PERFECT amount of food and, more importantly, it was PERFECTLY cooked. I can only imagine that regular or large sized portions will be very generous! Delicious takeaway that lived up to reviews from other customers. Would recommend and will go again. Thank you to all at Rams!

Organised chaos!! They seemed to have a system, 15 mins wait felt like longer. Not many chairs to sit and wait. UPDATE: Following owners comments I must add that the food did taste fresh and was very nice. No need to defend your service and business, it was an all round great visit. You said it was going to be a 15min wait so I was warned! I'll make sure I use you again when in the area. Some limited parking outside.

WoW Finally found an amazing Fish & Chip shop in Southend it beats all of the other Fish & Chips shops in the area. I ordered Large Cod that was cooked to perfection plus Wings that were better than KFC. This is the first time I have ordered from Rams Fish Bar will not be my last as I will ordering my Fish from here on Good Friday.

Just ordered from this place tonight via UberEats, ordered a medium cod, large chips and curry sauce at a whopping £16. The cod was dry and tasteless, the chips were undercooked and the curry sauce looked like dirty water (tasted as well as it looked). Not really sure how this place is in business given how bad it all was, it's almost impressive. Won't be ordering or stepping foot in this place even if it was given to me for free.

Top quality place with fresh food and amazing costumer service. It has been my go to place with family. Must try their Cod and chips!

We love Rams. As a couple great food but this is the second time we have ordered food for a group of us and something has been missing. This time a cod… maybe nothing but when I spend £80+ plus … please make sure you get my order right also when I ask can you label the fish and you say yes… can you do this please. I am not sure we will use Rams next time we have friends over if you can’t get an order right, we will try somewhere else.

Has there been a recent change in owners? Portions are alot smaller and overall don't seem as good as before? Its ok dont get me wrong but I thought I had finally found the best chippy in the world!! I was going at least once a week but its not like it was? Still better than all the other chippies round here!!

Visited today for lunch after a 3 hour drive from Lincolnshire. Had a great conversation with the lady and gent behind the counter. They really made me feel welcome. I had arrived just as they were preparing a large order, so had to wait 15 minutes. But the wait was worth it. We really enjoyed our fish and chips. A very generous portion and beautiful crispy battered cod. I would definitely recommend a visit.

We used to be able to get 'potato surprise' in loads of places in Southend & Leigh. I don't know why but most places have stopped selling them. Thankfully Rams still make them. I would love them to be a bit spicier but they are a treat!
