It's a shame and I've always refrained from negative feedback in the past but feel obliged to save others having the experience we did.
Zero atmosphere, no music, no customers (can see why) none of the first two choices of beer available, nor the first choice of cider and then they didn't understand when asked for a gluten free menu or even a gluten free item on the menu they just pointed randomly at several items on the menu. Including naan bread. Not impressed and had zero confidence we'd get a good meal so we left.
Called here 17.4.2025 after helping a friend move house after a £76 pound order we only had a short wait for the fantastic tasting ,hot food my calzone was very filling and the chips were fresh and hot even after a longish journey home will use again

Used to order almost weekly but since they've changed hands, the food was unappetising, extremely disappointing.
I'd love to know where has the previous owner & staff moved to.
Bottomless brunch at happy hour probabaly wasn't the best idea, but Chrissie more than made up for it with attentive service and a happy attitude. For a friends birthday she checked a menu adjustment for us as the online menu had been slightly out of date, meaning the birthday boy would have missed out on his favourite drink.

Good food, but OMG . how difficult was it to get a bill and pay for it.
There's a QR code to scan on the table to get the bill.. then you pay by card
This is a cashless establishment and heaven only knows how you go on if you don't have a smart phone, maybe it's free !!
Our party included a couple of people who were older (89 and 78 ) and we were all trying to split the bill up on cards using a kind of app.
They just didn't know what was going on and tried to pay their share in cash.
Tbh I found this process unnecessarily complicated and frankly ridiculous
. What's happened to our world, when you could have a good night out, nice food and just throw your share of cash on the table at the end of the evening
It's a nice place, but it's nothing special, their one size fits all approach, with a sweeping assumption that everybody understands and can use their bizarre payment system is discrimatory.
There absolutely has to be an option to pay in cash

Been to hickory’s nuttall approx 8 times and always had a fantastic experience however I haven’t been in 6 months.
Experience was awful. Most concerning thing was the water jugs they give you. We drank the whole bottle and as we were waiting for the receipt we notice some weird stains all in the top of the bottle. On further inspection the whole of the top of the bottle was COVERED in some coloured grime. Kind of like it hadn’t been washed in months. I used a napkin and wiped the top of the bottle and the grime was RED, kind of like some sort of bacteria. Really concerning and even more of a worry as I personally suffer with health issues. Mentioned this to the manager who was robotically polite but said ‘it looks like lipstick’ it actually felt like a hint that it wasn’t bacteria and pointed it back to me! This was bacteria growing INSIDE of the bottle. Dirty grime. Manager wasn’t bothered.
After this the lady serving was also rude
Drinks didn’t arrive until after the food came out and food was average
Really disappointing as have always been a huge fan of hickory’s.
Never one to write reviews but I felt strongly about this bad experience and lack of an apology by the manager when we had been served water that clearly had growing bacteria on the inside! :(
We were in Costco a few weeks ago and I have to shout out how well Debra handled a pregnant lady suffering from a dizzy spell.
Previously when she’d had dizzy spells in stores she was just left to it whereas when getting a colleagues attention she ran to get Debra who’s the first aider. Great thoughts from the colleague. They also brought a water, and wheeled her out to the car in a wheelchair and absolute first class service.
I’ve attempted to leave this positive review via Costcos website though I could never get to the right form, and wanted to express my gratitude to Debra & her colleague who are both a credit to the company.
A few weeks since my last review and a few more meals in and the standard has remained unchanged, the food is always hot, fresh and just delicious. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough
