Revolucion De Cuba in Derby

Another lovely evening. Great service from Christie who was really lovely. Tapas was delicious and very good value at 2-4-1. Love the salsa night. Always a fab atmosphere.

We attempted to eat here yesterday (25.01), having prepaid for a bar tab as we had been given a tasting for two voucher from buyagift. This voucher stated that Revolucion de Cuba was one of the restaurants included, and we were able to book the restaurant through buyagift. When we arrived, staff seemingly forgot that we had even got there, as it took 5-10 minutes to be even spoken to by waiting staff whilst tables around us received multiple drinks. And when we finally got served, the waiter was although friendly, unsure on our voucher. He left to find another member of staff, who then informed us that the restaurant doesn't take that buyagift voucher, despite the website stating the opposite. After waiting a further 10 minutes, the staff member that initially served us appeared again, confused as to why the server who told us the voucher wouldn't be accepted hadn't spoken to us since, as she had been serving tables opposite and around us. He also told us that the voucher wouldn't be accepted, despite us showing him the voucher leading to and clearly showing Revolucion de Cuba as one of the options, and as the manager was in a meeting we would have to wait to try and sort it. At this point, we gave up, deciding to use our bar tab we had prepaid for (after waiting a total of 35-40 minutes to get a menu), and leave.

Security at the door is racist. They don’t like your face, they’ll say they can’t let you in.

Thought we would start new years eve night here, so i had 4 Different cocktails, each one deadfull, think they need to employ a half decent cocktail maker. What a waste of money.

I am very very disappointed!!! I booked a table months ago for New Years Eve and 4 days before I received an email to say my table had been cancelled and not by us. No reason given and I couldn't contact anyone when I called no-one answered my call. This could have really ruined our new years celebrations but luckily I managed to book elsewhere.

Lovely atmosphere, welcoming staff and beautiful drinks, me and my significant other came here for a drink and found ourselves falling in love with the place. The staff were welcoming and helped us navigate the menu. 10/10 would come back again. I don’t wanna be on there now. Becky and Hayley were so helpful and can’t wait to come back

Some of the tapas food is too hard and dry, only 2 tables on that night. They should consider changing the chef with a new menu.

This place is a shadow of its former self. We went on a Friday night for drinks. When you visit Rev De Cuba, you expect a warm glowing atmosphere with Cuban music to match. Cocktails, smartly dressed people etc. Unfortunately we were met with the complete opposite. A dark and grey atmosphere along with grime / Rap music? The place was half empty and the dress code was basically anything goes. Hoodies, trainers were all welcome. I can only assume to get more customers. Smashed glass on the floor, rubbish etc. The place felt more like a cheap club rather than somewhere more up market. I'd not been to Derby in a long while but it was a shame to see that along with this place the derby night life scene is dying.

Wow!what a brilllliant experience we both had. Hannah and her team were brilliant. It wasnt busy as was a tues evening but the atmosphere was ace. A salsa class was entrancing to watch in one corner of the spacious venue. The varied menu meant you could tickle your tastebuds or enjoy a full meal. Prices very reasonable too. We were made to feel like VIPs. The staff were very genuinely friendly and chaty without being intrusive. The invitation to go behind the bar as a birthday treat and have a free cocktail making experience was wonderful and Hannahs explanation of the background to each ingredient used was inspired. Hannahs love for her job and that of her team was outstanding. We stumbled on this gem by accident but it made our stay in derby all the more memorable for us. Wow and thankyou for giving us such a wonderful experience. We will return! An experience not to be missed.

We went in for food and drinks this Sunday just gone. It was understaffed with only 1 person on the bar and 1 serving food. First of all, that’s terrible as it was extremely slow service and due to that ate into our time of the cocktails until 7. Next issue we had was we were sent £10 off spending £30 vouchers. These were declined to be used as it was in conjunction with the tapas off. Now first of all, the email didn’t state it couldn’t be used with that offer only that a tapas needed to be included and that it was a minimum spend of £30. I also have a screenshot of this which I showed the manager who said ‘nope that’s wrong’ even though it was in black and white! We then said well don’t include the offer and we will just pay for tapas as individually priced. This was also refused. My mum whose birthday it was had a 25% off voucher. We tried to use that, again refused. Any voucher or offer we had was refused. When we pointed out to staff who agreed it didn’t state what we showed in the t+c agreed however the manager point blank refused. Our final complaint is a couple next to us had ordered 2 cocktails in their 2 4 1 deal and paid however had to leave after his wife was poorly. They informed the manager to give us the cocktails as they had been paid. When we chased this up the manager denied this ever happening. So overall my mums birthday was ruined by you, we spent in excess of £200 with you and we couldn’t use any of the vouchers you’ve sent us. It was an absolute disgrace. We have been going to Cuba de revs for over 10 years now and it’s absolutely gone downhill. We will be going elsewhere to enjoy our celebrations and family time as you clearly don’t care about your customers, let alone loyal ones and your ‘offers’ sent out are a complete scam and lie as your staff just refuse to accept them and won’t tell you that until the bill comes!
