Some of the tapas food is too hard and dry, only 2 tables on that night. They should consider changing the chef with a new menu.

This place is a shadow of its former self. We went on a Friday night for drinks. When you visit Rev De Cuba, you expect a warm glowing atmosphere with Cuban music to match. Cocktails, smartly dressed people etc. Unfortunately we were met with the complete opposite. A dark and grey atmosphere along with grime / Rap music? The place was half empty and the dress code was basically anything goes. Hoodies, trainers were all welcome. I can only assume to get more customers. Smashed glass on the floor, rubbish etc. The place felt more like a cheap club rather than somewhere more up market. I'd not been to Derby in a long while but it was a shame to see that along with this place the derby night life scene is dying.

Wow!what a brilllliant experience we both had. Hannah and her team were brilliant. It wasnt busy as was a tues evening but the atmosphere was ace. A salsa class was entrancing to watch in one corner of the spacious venue. The varied menu meant you could tickle your tastebuds or enjoy a full meal. Prices very reasonable too. We were made to feel like VIPs. The staff were very genuinely friendly and chaty without being intrusive. The invitation to go behind the bar as a birthday treat and have a free cocktail making experience was wonderful and Hannahs explanation of the background to each ingredient used was inspired. Hannahs love for her job and that of her team was outstanding. We stumbled on this gem by accident but it made our stay in derby all the more memorable for us. Wow and thankyou for giving us such a wonderful experience. We will return! An experience not to be missed.

We went in for food and drinks this Sunday just gone. It was understaffed with only 1 person on the bar and 1 serving food. First of all, that’s terrible as it was extremely slow service and due to that ate into our time of the cocktails until 7. Next issue we had was we were sent £10 off spending £30 vouchers. These were declined to be used as it was in conjunction with the tapas off. Now first of all, the email didn’t state it couldn’t be used with that offer only that a tapas needed to be included and that it was a minimum spend of £30. I also have a screenshot of this which I showed the manager who said ‘nope that’s wrong’ even though it was in black and white! We then said well don’t include the offer and we will just pay for tapas as individually priced. This was also refused. My mum whose birthday it was had a 25% off voucher. We tried to use that, again refused. Any voucher or offer we had was refused. When we pointed out to staff who agreed it didn’t state what we showed in the t+c agreed however the manager point blank refused. Our final complaint is a couple next to us had ordered 2 cocktails in their 2 4 1 deal and paid however had to leave after his wife was poorly. They informed the manager to give us the cocktails as they had been paid. When we chased this up the manager denied this ever happening. So overall my mums birthday was ruined by you, we spent in excess of £200 with you and we couldn’t use any of the vouchers you’ve sent us. It was an absolute disgrace. We have been going to Cuba de revs for over 10 years now and it’s absolutely gone downhill. We will be going elsewhere to enjoy our celebrations and family time as you clearly don’t care about your customers, let alone loyal ones and your ‘offers’ sent out are a complete scam and lie as your staff just refuse to accept them and won’t tell you that until the bill comes!

I have never experienced service staff as disrespectful and ignorant as I have today. As soon as we entered the restaurant we were rudely greeted and our waitress seemed bored and uninterested. At the time, one other table was occupied. We ordered and proceeded to wait 20 minutes for two of the same simple meal. After finally receiving the food, we were then ignored by all staff for an hour. During this time, the bar was left unattended on numerous occasions whilst the staff talked among themselves in another room. After an hour of being ignored, a member of staff started to move around tables, still ignoring our prescence. Then he came and told us that there was a salsa class starting in 5 minutes and then said “not to rush you but there is a salsa class starting in five minutes, so you might have to move” we then ordered our desserts, which he said he would check was available. He never returned. And instead partook in conversation with another member of staff. We then received our desserts, without everything which was described on the menu. Very disappointed and unhappy with this experience. Will not be returning.

We booked the Havana Bar out to celebrate our 21st birthday with 60 of our friends and family and had an amazing time! Staff were so friendly, communicative and accommodating. Special mention to Shannon who helped us organise the event. On the day staff helped us put up our decorations and quickly tidied up to make sure it was perfect for when our guests arrived. Also a thank you for tidying up after our party (we are sorry about the mess). Drinks were spot on, the music was just what we wanted and the place was a perfect size. Thank you for making our birthday extra special. I would 100% recommend 🫶

We booked to come here on a works night out. We were shown to a private area away from the main room which was lovely. There were tables and chairs and a private bar, although we had to get drinks from the main bar. We ordered a tapas menu at £18.95 per person. There wasn't a lot of food brought out and as a veggie could only eat potatoes, sweetcorn and rice from a paella. Bit disappointed as it wasn't cheap. Overall though a good night.

A beautiful historic place that was a bank and served in the war. Came in Saturday so, it was hectic. The food was good and some of the staff seem very friendly.

Just one advice, don’t go near it if you are a brown/black skinned individual! Absolutely ridiculous treatment we received from the guards at the entrance. Apparently, they think that we are poor and we don’t buy enough drinks or food! Honestly, those guards really need to address their preconceived notions.

I've never felt so disrespected at a venue as I did at Revolution de Cuba in Derby. After stepping outside for a smoke, we were denied re-entry with the false claim that we weren't buying drinks. When challenged, they accused us of misbehavior without any explanation. As a group of brown individuals, we felt blatantly discriminated against. This establishment clearly does not value all its customers equally. Stay away if you expect to be treated with dignity.

Extremely dissatisfied, the guards blatantly misbehaved with us for no good reason, we were asked to leave without a reason and rather pushed out of the bar. We were allegedly kicked out for not spending enough, even after we bought several drinks. As the only brown group present, I WOULD CALL THAT RACISM. when asked they responsed saying we can kick you out for whatever reason "we do not need to explain".

Vibe is amazing , love the decoration . sorry to mention the service is not good . Food look great , however after the meal me n my fd was feel sick .

Avoid eating, we had a selection of tapas.Gambas Al pilpil (garlic prawns) had no garlic, sent it back was redone still no garlic. Pork belly skewers, meatballs and chorizo in red wine all just warm. Calamari over cooked. Bruscetta tasteless over ripe tomato's on lightly toasted bread. No herbs , no seasoning. We were in fact both ill next day. Staff super friendly, Drinks good. Eat elsewhere.

The portion for the vegan main was very small for the price but food was good, nachos were not very good but the sauces for them and the rice& beans were great. The atmosphere here is incredible and we had a fantastic waitress. Will be going back.

Me and my friend went for her 21st birthday, we was served all night by Darius who really looked after the both of us the whole night! Made sure we was safe and also let us make our own cocktail while it was quiet! The other workers were also so polite and even recommended drinks when we had no idea what to get! Darius really made our night! Would definitely go back again and recommend to anyone

We had the pleasure of having darius serving on us. It was my 21st birthday and made absolutely perfect down to him and his bartenders. we even made drinks behind the bar whilst it was quiet in here. 10/10 couldn’t wish for anyone else to have served me tonight. amazing.

Went for bottomless brunch. Food was minimal. Service was slow. We asked to speak to the manager who said that they only had 2 bar staff on. Waitress was doing her best. Manager then said that you could only have 6 drinks each!, nowhere does it say that. We had paid a deposit of 5pound each. Then we were charged 30 pound each. The full price was 32.50 so we were over charged as well

Waiter was rude yesterday night. She was corky and unprofessional and unnecessarily pressed about my girl saying please when she needed a drink. The whole attitude was off.

My experience at first was okay as the first attending waitress was very pleasant. However, I found another waitress very arrogant and rude. Unnecessarily demanding “Please” when I hadn’t even finished my sentence. Her whole attitude and body language was distasteful to say the least.

Light airy venue with a great atmosphere and service

Early doors visit, they offer great value on cocktails, 2 for £10 with enough choice for most customers and they go down a treat. Just be aware that they are a cashless bar.

Went in last night with 4 mates . Ordered 5 pints and went to pay only to be told rudely by a woman its card only . I did have a card on me but didn’t want to use it for the simple fact she was tell people how they should pay . Rude let’s hope the card machines go down . Bet they would love to take cash then . Won’t go here again.

My friend was struggling with her diabetes and Finn who was dealing with the glasses was an absolute angel. They really helped with giving my friend some snacks so she felt better. Finn 100% needs a pay rise . Absolute asset to revs - so kind and compassionate! Thank you so much Finn !

did the cocktail masterclass with my sister. spent an hour having sips of different cocktails and talking about the "history" of cocktails. in the end, only got to make 1 cocktail each which was a bit disappointing. food was okay, portions were lacking. a live band was playing at the time, the music was a bit too loud for my liking as it made the situation hard to talk to my family. other than that, the cocktails are really nice and they have a large selection

Was horrified to be served a single gin and tonic at £7.45. When I queried this, I was told that they have had to have the electrics done etc so they needed to pay for that. I said they would lose customers charging this much and they replied saying that it was an acquired bar so will still get their custom regardless!! Not a good attitude in my eyes from a young barman as it felt like it he was saying I wasn’t good enough to drink in there ! I paid the same price for 2 of the same drinks in the bar opposite earlier on the day, so my advice is to head over there instead.

Unfortunately my review on food has to be a 1 star .went with daughter and ordered some vegetarian tapas for my self daughter had meat tapas . When food arrived they had somehow put the veg sticker on the meat and meat on veg . Luckily I looked inside before I ate it . Waitress was very sorry and gave us free drink . However I think the blaim sits with the chef which is very concerning . Being vegetarian for 30 years eating chicken would of made me very I’ll not to mention my dietary restriction . Update Email from manager with a apology and a offer of free drink and food which was accepted and much appreciated.

We went for a family birthday on Sunday and it was awfull … majority had tapas and one dish came out whilst we was waiting for the other dishes 25 mins later they came out after we had eaten the last dish came out . Children got frozen sweetcorn on their meals . We all ate at different times . Was an awfull dining experience won’t be going there again in a hurry !

Becky was absolutely amazing, served us with such professionalism and care, we had a gluten allergy, she knew what she was talking about and I’ll definitely come again. Drinks were amazing l, blue lagoon was my favourite, could drink them for days, thank you so much Becky!!!!!

This place needs to make its mind up on what it wants to be, a live entertainment venue? A wine bar? A rowdy nightclub or a tapas restaurant? Assuming the latter I took my partner for tapas and had an awful experience, we couldn’t speak the place was so loud. I asked if we could move away from the band and the answer was no. When the band wasn’t playing the music was then turned up in volume. The food arrived and my partners food looked disgusting, it was supposed to be paella and the rice was like cereal mashed together, far too salty and she couldn’t eat any of it. I had enchiladas and I’ve tasted better bought from the Iceland store, these were not freshly made and came out of a packet. The service was ok however avoid if you’re dating and want to talk and definitely avoid the food. The place would be great if you just want to get drunk and be rowdy like most in there. This is not a restaurant environment.

Well certainly a first (at the age of 59) for me to be thrown out of a bar! All I did was to question why our candles were being extinguished and then (possibly foolishly) borrow a candle from another table. The bouncer was pretty brutal (literally dragged me out) to say the least! I would very much appreciate discussing this further with the manager

We joined the cocktail masterclass led by Jay and his cousin. They were absolute stars and their knowledge and skill of cocktails especially rum based was excellent. They entertained us through nearly 2 hours of mixes and shakes and plenty of drinks and the domino drinks at the end worked 1st time? Lol. The food afterwards was good too. We would thoroughly recommend the experience and all the staff looked after us.

It has been a while, it’s fair to say, since I have frequented this bar and I will not be returning in a hurry. Firstly on a Saturday there were no offers on cocktails. Now I don’t mind paying £10 for a cocktail but the guy who served us clearly didn’t want to be there. He threw the card machine at us for us to tap and pretty much threw the drink across the table (not in style, but aggressively). I went to use the toilet and got heavily dripped on going up the stairs and the was a duct taped pipe slowly pouring onto the stairs. It’s safe to say after one drink we left and went to turtle bay and I begrudge having paid £10 for that experience. Wouldn’t surprise me if this place suffers the same fate as the revolution vodka bar!

Came for a cocktail making class on a hen do. Excellent and fun class with Hannah, who was great start to finish. I don't drink, there was excellent accommodations made for me and I didn't feel like I missed out at all!

Decent place changed over the years or I'm getting older but still good.

Food was average at best, prawns had no taste, chicken skewers were hard to eat the chicken was dry and overcooked. The burgers weren't bad but not great. The place was pretty empty and yet we were forced to choose between some small round tables even tho there were plenty other better places to sit for eating.

They have a great deal on in January. 50% off food. Plus buy-one-get one free drinks on Sundays. They were out of a few tapas that we were hoping to order prior to our visit. We got nibbly food to share between 4 people which were tasty and filling. Live music and dancing in the evening which was fun to watch. Shannon was exceptional... she looked after us well! We'll be back!

Sent a 50% off voucher, rocked up Saturday lunch time with my daughter, fairly empty and freezing cold inside. Told by staff 50% not applicable on Saturdays, as we already had drinks, which we gained ourselves as not asked if we wanted drinks, we decided to stay, we waited another 30mins before our order was taken, at which point we were informed that she had been miss informed and our discount could be applied. Great! we ordered 5x tapas. 45min wait, food arrived.... very underwhelmed, no garlic in the prawns and the calamari was ruined by old cooking oil. I would not have paid full price to sit inside in a wintercoat, freezing. Average food, poor communication for staff who looked miserable, not the Cuban experince I want to repeat anytime soon. With so many businesses closing in Derby, you really need to improve, everything. P.s. toilets were filthy too.

We visited here today for food & drink, & whilst choosing food we had a few cocktails & a starter of vegan nachos. When attempting to use a 50% off code, the server had to get her supervisor, which she stated “the management have jointly not decided to use it at Derby”, however we stated it doesn’t state this on the website, suggesting they should follow company policy, eventually they agreed! For mains we decided to go for ten options of tapas, which we shared between us. Unfortunately on arrival, despite looking ok, they were all barely warm, but by this point we were starving.

I am sad about the new year 😞 It was below my expectations and experience from previous years. I hope they improve everything in 2024.

This place is up there for me. Especially if you go for food early doors. Great offers on excellent Tapas and 2for1 on cocktails. Great atmosphere. Wouldn’t recommended going later on for food. That’s time for La Fiesta. Party on!!!!

Really good cocktail making experience

We have been going to this bar since it opened, even our dogs love being there. It’s always a good vibe and if Jordan is in it’s a treat. He’s always busy but without exception finds time to chat with us. Smart professional and just a really friendly guy. Brilliant bar with great staff!!

There is a very long walk to the bathroom which includes two flights of stairs and a dark corridor. The bathroom itself is very run down. Half of the toilet stall doors do not shut. Those of the stalls which do work were unusable because they were so filthy and had no toilet roll. During our visit someone threw up all over the corridor and it was not cleaned for an hour even though staff were made aware of the situation. The food was lacking flavour and I would not recommend eating here. The drinks were nice but I would not return due to the toilet facilities.

If you like sweet potato you'll love the food, personally I'm not a fan, I wouldn't call chicken with mashed sweet potato with a side of diced sweet potato a meal... Very okay food

Played a few old skool classics. Got my groove on to 50 cent, but had my pants pulled down in the toilets! The man wanted 4 quid for a lollipop and splash of aftershave or in his words (No splash no gash!) How rude!

The place is really nice goid atmosphere food is OK I wouldn't go over board there isn't much choice for a veggie my friend had chicken enchiladas hardly any chicken my Cuban sandwich just tasted like cheese on toast staff are friendly cocktails looked nice although we didn't have any drinks a bit pricey but they are in most places now

Bar staff were amazing and very attentive. However the security were very aggressive (especially toward women) and lacked common decency toward customers. I would strongly advise that you try to not engage with security otherwise they will become vicious and Nasty.

It was quite pricey but DJ wasn't fantastic as he didn't have a flow, felt like he was just playing whatever music he had on his playlist, he would sometimes slow pace particular songs but I felt was totally unnecessary, he could have played more trendy danceable songs especially from Nigerian artists (just saying). There is a lot of room for improvement.

Bar, service is abysmal. Slow and rude and vastly overpriced for a bar located in a small city like Derby. They are having a laugh. Avoid.

Around 15 of us went for food and cocktails at 6pm, the bar was very quiet when we got there and the server told us that he was the only one serving that night so things may be a bit slower than we'd hoped. He mentioned there was another large table booking so its strange that he was the only one serving, think they need to review their rota! Cocktails were good (once we got them) and food was ok. As we were a large table it took a bit longer and food arrived in dribs and drabs. We ordered 6 plates of Tapas, received 3 of them and then waited around 30 mins for the remaining three to arrive. One of our group didn't receive their meal at all, apparently it had been dropped on the floor. Would visit again but not as a large group, or for food. Will stick to the cocktails a bit later in the evening

The costs are typical of a popular location like this. primarily intended for the younger crowd on the weekends, but all are generally permitted. It's worth a visit.
