Rani Indian Cuisine in Ashfield

Food was ok but was cold on arrival, the nann was very cold. I ordered a starter on skewers but received a leg of chicken which I won’t eat off the bone, the tikka sauce was pretty tasteless and seemed watery, I’m not sure what’s happened as I’ve always used them and recommended them but this order is definitely not upto standards

First visit here after seeing this restaurant name in another review. Not much to look at from outside however the inside it very lovely. All the staff were welcoming and friendly and go out of their way to help you. If you want the ultimate challenge have the Phall it will blow your head off. I need to go back and sample different curries👍 My only gripe is I thought some starters were a bit hight priced. Also I'm an odd sod, I do like Indian background music, it adds to the experience 🙄

Ordered a take away for Christmas eve for 5 people, they forgot the onion bhajis, food was cold (we collected ourselves and live 2 minutes away), ordered 4 main curries between us and each dish had 4 pieces of chicken in the rest was watery tasteless sauce, I've had better from a supermarket jar! No salad with the bhajis we went back for. Naan breads where chewy and like rubber. I've honestly never had such terrible sauce to an Indian dish, no indian flavours and just puréed mush. We will not be buying again. Huthwaite Tandoori from now on , can't be any worse

From my initial phone call to service on the day, being greeted personally and nothing was too much trouble they went above and beyond to make a surprise birthday meal fantastic! Banners and glitter on the table were provided without me asking and a suggestion of a birthday cake supplied and bought out to happy birthday music , what a lovely gesture. Our new favourite India restaurant 👍

I ordered in Just Eat at 17:37 for delivery at 19:00 but order still hasn’t arrived and it’s now 19:55. Tel number for restaurant is constantly engaged so can’t find out what’s happening 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

The madras was very watery tonight I don’t usually have a problem I highly recommend ranis but tonight was poor

always order my indian food from here, but today it was over half an hour late, when it finally arrived the food was cold and my garlic and cheese naan had no cheese. wont be in a rush to order again🥴

First time ordering from here but unfortunately not impressed. Food was 30 minutes late so it was tepid warm, it tasted nice but prefer my food hot Won't be ordering from here again

Always the best food from this restaurant. Really loved the new things we ordered this time. My husband loved the Garlic tikka chicken Balti. And I always have the tikka butter masala chicken Nothing better

Rani is a very good local restaurant. Food is always great. Service is great too. Its good to come back time after time and see the same staff year after year. I think this tells you a lot about how this restaurant treats its staff and customers. Never been disappointed with my many visits to Rani.

This is the Second time we have ordered for a certain time as we have friends round for there tea. It is also the second time it has been late by more than an hour

I have ordered every Friday for around 3 years and the service is now shocking. My orders take around 45-90mins to be delivered after being dispatched from the restaurant and it is always cold. My current order has gone AWOL, with no answer on the phones and no signs of a refund. This was dispatched at 6pm and I have been waiting for nearly an hour and 40 for delivery despite living a 10 minute drive away. It’s such a shame as I have always stuck to this restaurant but the food is always cold an

Had an alert to say food was on way, 20 minutes later no food, was trying to reach the restaurant for a further 10 mins but was constantly engaged, finally got through and was advised the driver has broken down and was expected to have deliver in a further 20 mins, which food arrived after 10 mins and was freezing cold, so unlike this restaurant

Food hadn’t arrived. Rude member of staff when calling store, dismissive and ignorant. Very disappointed as Rani is usually amazing.

It was cold didn’t even get to eat it that is very poor

The food was too hot to eat in terms of spice especially the pathia my daughter couldn’t eat it and the taste of all curries and was not up to standard, very disappointed with this order will not use them again. Going to look elsewhere from now on. This was a special anniversary meal!

We have ordered from here many times and never had a bad meal. I love the tandoori chicken makhani, its my favourite. Highly recommend if you like very mild, creamy curries. The staff have always been very friendly too.

Spectacular indian,asked for a free pickle tray and pappodoms and was given to us being a first customer,cheese and garlic naan bread was lovely as was the pickle tray,the chicken tikka massala was very tasty and full of flavour we just enjoyed the whole order..my only slight criticism was the tikka massala sauce was slightly runny buy other than that we loved it.

Ordered same item twice in a week this time it was completely different to a week ago

Had a fantastic meal, freshly prepared and cooked, plus excellent and friendly staff, meal was full of flavour, when visiting the area will 100 % go again.

I ordered during the recent snow, so I expected some short delays. I phoned the restaurant and they apologised but said the order would be arriving after 10 more minutes. The order was over 20 minutes later than advertised, which was hours after I actually ordered for 'as soon as possible' delivery. When it arrived the food was lukewarm and I didn't have the means to reheat it, plus the pickle tray I ordered and paid for had been omitted. The food quality was excellent as usual, but I wasn't able to fully enjoy the experience.

No chips came with the order, otherwise food was hot and fresh

Have ordered from here a couple of times, and honestly, the most delicious food I've had in so long. Quite happily, my new regular takeaway. The bhuna is beautiful, rice was nice and fluffy, and food was hot and packaged well. To top it off, amazing service from the lovely man who came out in the snow to deliver it for us 👌👌👌

Me and my wife went here on 13th feb for our valentines meal as we both work in hospitality, and work Valentine’s Day itself. But all I can say about rani is that the restaurant & the food is outstanding, the tandoori mixed grill was amazing and my wife’s biryani again fantastic. We’ll definitely be back in a couple of months!!

Amazing food as always from Rani 😋 I would recommend them to anyone, just as they were recommended to me. 20 mins early, no problem. The food was delivered piping hot, and the driver was extremely courteous. A whopping 25% off too, which was a lovely surprise… especially in these difficult times 🙂🙂

Waited the 60 minutes that the eta said then I was came up that it was on its way.Said it on was its way, 30 minutes later I called to see where the order was. I was told that they were busy and it had just left . 20 minutes later it arrived .Took over 2 hours to finally get here

From the moment you walked through the door, you were welcomed and looked after. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The venue and atmosphere was wonderful. The food was amazing and fairly priced! Went mid week so was not too busy and glad we did. Made a little catch up meal special. Certainly be returning!! Thank you all at Rani

I love the food and usual service but I seem to often get a notification to say it’s on its way but it’s been 40 minutes and it still isn’t here despite leaving the restaurant then.

It was lovely! My curry was more spicy than I’m used to from other places, but if was still tasty!

Normally fantastic but tonight the curry was very cobbled together, like one vat of sauce with with chicken, veg or lamb chucked in. The Jalfrezi didn’t have chillies in and tasted more watery than usual. Very disappointed actually. Good size portions and very very quick delivery. Just poor quality this time. Sorry.

The service was fantastic with food arriving 30 mins early, however the food wasn't great. The chicken was dry in both dishes and lacked any taste at all as if just added at the end rather than marinated. Chips weren't very nice either.

Perfect , the best meal we've had from any restaurant!

We have just ordered a take away and it was terrible! Both curries were swimming in oil and the chicken was dry. We couldn’t eat it.

We thought we’d found our weekly order of Indian food but after the 7-8th time the last 3 orders weren’t very good. Oily Achari,minimum mint sauce with starters. Most of which went in the bin. We always tip the driver who’s is very friendly who we do not blame at all. When we ordered on a Monday it was so much better than a Saturday, either different chef or owner I don’t know… Any how we will not return.

We went to celebrate my wifes exam result and the meal and service was excellent. I've been before for a meeting and thought we would come again and we did loved it.

Really lovely, lamb and chicken was really tender, good amounts and lovely flavours, very expensive so it’s a treat now and then .

Rani had a period of all the food changed. Saddest time of my life. But they are back at the top! Fantastic food and what a bunch of lovely people there. Can’t do enough for you.

We’ve not been to Rani this side of Covid. Family meal, last Friday of October, we always loved this place but I thought this time it had got even better. The food was all fresh and amazing, service was excellent. Price was reasonable overall.

Food was not great at all and very greasy. Couldn't eat the Jalfrezi as it was extremely salty and I'm someone who loves salt, but this was awful. Much better curry houses in the area. Food also took two hours to be delivered which is rediculos.

Really nice food as always. Good portions, vindaloo was deliciously hot. Good size naans. Everything received nice and warm. Great thank you.

All seemed like yesterdays food that’s been warmed through, cold also. For £30 odd pounds I won’t be ordering from there again.

Ordered meals for 7 people and it was all excellent quality, hot and decent portions. Will be ordering from here again!
