Great place to eat staff friendly service good

I have used this place for many years, just been to collect two currys, my wife had a vegetable masala....got home put it out..a plate full of sauce. The vegetable masala had 2 pieces of potato, 5 pieces of carrot, 10 peas and 2 sliced green beans... this is no exaggeration. This is the second time now that this has happened, for the money it was shocking so we are done and won't return.

Not great. Curry’s tasted the same. Drinks poor. Beer tasted like cleaning fluid. Couldn’t take orders for the correct amount of people. Tried to discuss with them but they knew best? Would no recommend at all.

Came here with a group of work mates and ended up spending the majority of our time waiting to be served. We've had a good experience here prior with the food being decent. But this time around the food was poor quality and service was appauling.

Awful service tonight. Seated and took 20 minutes to get asked if we wanted a drink. Meantime at least 3 other tables had arrived and all had orders taken. Poppadoms then came minus any sign of a drink.Starter then arrived before we had finished the poppadoms. Then a long wait for the main.The bill took two requests and nearly 25 minutes to get to the table. Would have said something as we left but nobody acknowledged us or asked if everything had been ok like you usually do. Could not fault the quality of the food. Don't often complain but really poor tonight.

Very nice food. The pickle tray is a must. I need to go back and try more curries. Soft drinks are a bit pricey and they didn't do a glass mango lassie.

We were just passing through on our way to London and found this hidden gem. White table cloths and wait staff in ties and dressy clothes. Food was as authentic as one would love to have. Plenty of choices. Surprised that this classy of a restaurant is in such a small town. You won’t go wrong eating here.

Disappointed! We have ordered from huthwaite tandoori many times before with no complaint; however on this occasion we ordered and the food was delivered very hot but very bland and watery. The food was that disappointing we felt like we need to feed it back to the restaurant… after our initial phone call and a further two calls from huthwaite tandoori all they wanted to offer was a discount next time but the food was that poor on this occasion we don’t want to waste our time and money again.

Ordered a delivery, delivered promptly but the food was terrible, I was told it couldn’t be bland and watery because the chef had made two dishes in the same pan. And the other people hadn't complained. (So, I was lying!) I Was offered a discount on my next order. There will not be another order! If I was in the restaurant I would not of paid for both mains or the starter, but on a take away they already have my cash. I expected an offer of a full refund or at least an offer to cook it properly. I will not be ordering again.

We went to casual night out we from Manchester. The papadam was very oily.the moss sauce was just like from the jer taste tomato puree.when bill paying the boss was abruptly rude and forced. One waiter said they don't get any tips as boss takes it.so please don't put any tips on ur card

This curry house was out of this world. Beautiful food at very good prices. And such attentive staff with brilliant manager. Thank you all for such a wonderful evening and my family and I will see you very soon. Update 06/04/21 The restaurant is still doing takeaways and a delivery within 5 miles. I live 7 miles away, but when I got home the food was actually still sizzling when I opened the containers up. I kid you not! And the food was just divine. Lamb biriani, vegatable curry, bombay aloo and a porata x 2 Thanks to the friendly staff that cooked it all up

Wow! Lovely meal just now. This was the best meal weve had there, the papadum sauces were different to what we had last time, my peshawar nan was stuffed full and I recommend the king prawn jinga. Beautiful. Saaj is a lovely bloke and all the staff were nice too

Had chilli chicken as a main that showed 3 chilli's in the guide ( hot ). Thought it was very mild tho tasted OK just no kick. Wife found the chicken korma quite chewy. Onion bhaji's also bland. Service and atmosphere good.

I don't go anywhere else now I have found this place

Been this evening for the first time definitely will be returning soon 😋 food was amazing and really good portions, felt bad because we left some food. The service was spot on would give them more than 5 stars if I could, nothing was any trouble very kind and friendly. Lovely gesture at the end of the meal recieving a🌹 its the small thing's and on the way out the gentleman serving us even shook our hands. Thanks too the whole team ❤️

We have been going to this Indian since it first opened in 1990, Excellent food ,service and staff every time we go. Great choice of food and drinks.

Went to this restaurant on New Year’s Eve it was so so busy which we expected .when we sat down down we where served pretty quickly and the waitress and waiters where pushed to the limit but they deserved a pat on the back.The food when arrived was fantastic 10/10 and the price good and my wife was given a rose at the end which was very touching and nice.The reason I didn’t give 5 stars was due to the Indian waiter young chap who bullied the girl staff by shouting at them in public didn’t seem him shout at male waiters but he might have done the waiters and waitress did a fantastic job and they need to be told thankyou for a lovely evening

Appauling service. Would not reccomend. Was happy to leave us with partially frozen rice, potentially could cause food poisioning claiming they couldn’t ’do anything’ as all the ‘drivers had gone home’- yet they deliver till 11pm? Whilst ringing up, to try and resolve the problem, all staff was mocking the customers in the background making fun of their complaints- thinking we couldn’t hear them. We have now paid £31 for a curry. No meal. In my personal opinion, if you can’t handle the business of popular times, like New Year’s Eve, you should not be open on those days! Absoloutley appauling, terrible service, shocking food, would not reccomend!

I was on holiday in Pilsley. I googled for the local indian restaurant. Huthwaite Tandoori came up on my search. I am extremely happy that I found them. The staff were very friendly and polite. The food was fresh and arrived on time. I highly recommend that you try this restaurant.

Proper old school indian restaurant like they were 20 or 30 years ago. Fishtanks,patterned carpet & wallpaper, sugared fennel and a flower for the lady after the meal. Food is always great and all the staff are friendly. A real hidden gem

Very nice meal, went for our wedding anniversary and we were not disappointed. Staff very friendly, service very good and food was lovely.

Where to start, went for a family members birthday group of 16 restaurant was not busy only another 4 people inside. After 20 minutes we were asked if we would like a drink although we had been asked 6 times if we wanted poppadoms each time answering not yet as we wanted to wait for the birthday boy to arrive. Next a waiter turned to one of the members of our party and said “are you scared of me?” Extremely random and more than a little weird, this was just however a sign of things to come. When ordering my wife ordered for herself and our daughter she clearly stated what she wanted for the same waiter to turn around and say “you want to study the menu more’ in a half sarcastic semi aggressive manner” I told him that this was not on and that he needed to practice customer service. When the food arrived my wife’s curry was not what she ordered however partly due to the fact she didn’t want to engage with the waiter again she ate it. I ordered a Jal Mishti a spicy with a hint of sweet dish it failed on both these points, the rice was dry like it had been reheated, and the chapati was over cooked to the extent it was crisp like a poppadom! When it come to paying the bill it was like a scene from a chuckle brothers episode. Despite the waiters numbering the tables they had no clue who had what and asked us to tell them how many drinks we had??? This was alarming to say the least especially as I said the restaurant was virtually empty! We will not return, we regularly go to Rani’s next door where the food, service and atmosphere is in a different league I would go as far as to say it’s like comparing a five star holiday resort(Ranis) to spend a week in a cave going to the toilet in a hole(huthwaite tandoori)

Nice indian food was ok staff very friendly , the restaurant was very warm could have done with some air conditioning on so felt a bit uncomfortable it was a nice touch at the end of the meal I got a fresh rose and a free glass of Baileys so that was good

I have been going here for twenty years. but this time it was very disappointing. The service was painfully slow. The staff was unfriendly. Not at all good. Maybe it was because Raj was not there.

I first visited Huthwaite Tandoori when the restaurant opened in 1990 and I am still going there 33 years later! There is a varied menu and the food is consistently good. Saag and his staff provide a welcoming atmosphere and the restaurant is suitable for couples, families or larger parties 😊

Excellent. Proper traditional Indian

Missed the delivery first time due to their error. Then charged us double the delivery charge and just obviously reheated the food and sent it back out , over cooked and hard.

Been going since 1993, several times per year, birthdays, anniversaries, wedding and pleasure, on every occasion the experience has been outstanding, comfort and service are exemplary all staff are welcoming. Worth every penny spent there over the years and more to come.

Turned up to pick up an order at 7. 20 minutes later I asked politely if it was ready. “We’re just packing it 2 mins” 25 minutes later my food emerged from the back. Can’t describe it as anything but a pisstake

Delivered on time and very hot. Unfortunately the food was very bland, the chicken tikka In a sauce dish was in little bits, not like the tender tasty pieces from a skewer that I am used to. It was not as good as a supermarket ready meal, shame as the reviews were good. The keema nan was soggy and had little taste. Prawn puree was average, first time I have ordered and the last.

Had a takeaway last night. Delivery took ages. The main tandoori chicken was awful , that's if it was chicken!! Was weird and green. Total waste of money. Will not be ordering again...

Everyone of us who went thought each dish they received from starter to Main Meals were very enjoyable could not of asked for a better dishes 10 out of 10 👍👍 for each dish that was delivered to the tables. every bodies plates were empty. in fact I know I can speak for the whole group, It was the best Indian Meal in Derbyshire. such welcoming and friendly staff and of course not forgetting the Fantastic Family Company. We went here on a Friday night at 6.30pm. It was about half full at that time, but filled up by the time we left. Good food, plenty of it too. Friendly staff. Complimentary Baileys with the bill and a flower for the ladies, a lovely touch.

Huthwaite Tandoori you've really disappointed tonight, family of three ordering but got 2 poppadoms with no option of ordering more online, dips and pickles half the size but the same price as original. We've ordered from you for years and you've never disappointed us. Tonight made us think about looking elsewhere!for future meals .

We have been going to (and having takeaways from) Huthwaite Tandoori for more than 30 years. In that time, the food has been of a high quality throughout. It is our favourite Indian cuisine.

Had takeaways from here for many years and always been very good, unfortunately we had one last night and was terrible! The korma was sour the bhajis were rock hard like they were from the night before and the chips were also undercooked. Will be trying different Indians after that experience

Sat right next to the bar , shocking service food wasn’t right what we ordered , Will never attend again , Rarni 10 times better Didn’t feel welcome and rude staff

Was told delivery would be 1.5 hours, 2.5 hours later still no food arrived call to find out where it was, was told it was just leaving, delivery driver never turned up continued to ring the restaurant and they just kept putting the phone down, usually order every weekend never again terrible service!

Have been going to Huthwaite Tandoori on and off for over 30 years. During this time I can honestly say that I've never had a bad meal. The quality is consistently excellent with a warm welcome, and I am now using the delivery service for eating at home. Well done, there are not many local businesses that have this credibility and look forward to the next 30 years!!

It is several years since we have visited Huthwaite Tandoori - it seemed to go downhill in terms of food quality at one time and as a result we have visited a neighbouring restaurant for many years now as an alternative. We had spoken about giving the Tandoori another go and we are so glad we did - it was just like it used to be and we couldn't fault it. The food was excellent (mixed platter and mixed kebab starters, lamb tikka korahi, chicken tikka korahi and lamb tikka madras for mains, with mushroom rice, bombay potatoes, saag aloo and garlic naan sides, plus a couple of drinks each) and very reasonably priced as well as just right portion sizes - great. £82 all in, with complimentary Baileys, chocolates, aniseed pips and a yellow rose each with the bill - just nice touches which make them stand out. The tables are close together and we were glad not to have anyone sitting next to us as the waiter did have to keep leaning across us to lay cutlery and plates etc, but a very authentic Indian restaurant experience and we will definitely be back again.

Another top quality meal the staff are brilliant and I can't recommend Huthwaite Tandori enough. Give them a try you won't be disappointed.

Not so good now Saaj is away regrettably. Service slow despite the restaurant being less than half full, three serving staff on duty and our order being simple and straightforward. My roshon was watery although my wife's murchi was well spiced. This used to be our favourite tandoori restaurant but it will have to improve to warrant return visits
