A hidden gem. I have lived in Kirkby for 20 years, and over the last year, I have constantly ordered from Tara as the food is also constant. Delivery is always before the allocated time, and the food is beyond belief. You can tell everything is cooked with detail in mind. Spices to perfection and even the pickle tray is perfect for my poppadoms. Honestly, I couldn't recommend more, I'm quite picky, especially with Indian cuisine, but honestly, in my opinion, this is perfection. Next stop is to go in to dine rather than just have takeaway, just so I can compliment the chef and the level of service Tara provides, even for its takeaway customers. Bravo Tara, thank you for making my taste buds very happy so many times. Highly recommend.

Ordered a delivery for the 2 of us,,,,arrived earlier than expected (brilliant),,,,,the food was absolutely amazing! This was our 1st experience of Taraspice and shall most definitely be giving them a visit,so that we can eat in the restaurant,to delve into the delightful menu,,,,,,,100%!

Great food as always! Great owner & staff all extremely friendly and accommodating highly recommend Tara for a meal whether its just for 2 people or a family great prices well worth the money if you haven't tried it you definitely should! I'd recommend the Chicken Bhuna or the Chicken Madras :)

I love calling in here for food, weather it's take away or dining in, it's always delicious! The prices are great and the quality is fantastic. The manager is the nicest guy around and full of extensive knowledge to talk you through the menu!

Absolutely love this restaurant for dinning in, it was cozy, and manager was the loveliest man, and was happy to chat and talk with us and full of information and knowledge that he was happy to share about the food and how they cook it. We was a group of 4, 1 person with allergies but they was more than accommodating to our needs, the food was full of flavour and the best I have had in a long time! I can’t do too much spice, so went mild and it was everything it promised to be! If you like hot and spicy go with the hot stuff, but if you prefer full herb and flavour then go mild. Food came out in great time and lovely and hot! We had starters, and main and was offered all the appetisers too. No alcohol served here but restaurant had to make a choice between keeping the electricity and gas on or serve alcohol but I think it was a good choice they made as the food is so good you should not ruin it with alcohol anyway. I really recommend you go in and eat there as the atmosphere is very nice but the staff are the true gem! I give them a full 10/10 for food and service! We will be back and hungry for more!

I have never had such a bad Korma. We had to bin it. It tasted like a full box of dessicated coconut had been added to it. Very runny consistency and unappetising colour. So disappointed.

Called for a collection takeaway, 20 minutes later it was all ready when they said it would be, had a tikka masala and a chicken jalfrezi and it was probably the best takeaway jalfrezi I’ve had!! Really nice food, lovely staff when we went in to collect it, surprised there wasn’t more people sat in to eat as it was decorated lovely inside too. Will definitely go back :)

The worst takeaway I've ever had . Awful 😖

Just had a lovely date night at Tara Spice. Food was amazing as always. We haven't had a curry in ages and this just hit the spot. Everything was fresh and hot, service was great and didn't have to wait long for our food. Tara is a small restaurant but is we've always had great food from here. Fully recommend to anyone wanting incredible curry. We spent £60 which for drinks starters, curry, rice and naan each we didn't think was too bad at all. Definitely be going again with it being 5 mins round the corner from us.

This was the worst Indian food I have ever tasted. It all went into the bin. What a waste of money, never again

We ordered a take away from Tara's for 14 people on boxing day and what we received was a disgrace hardly any chicken in any of the dishes and all the sauces tasteless I had korma and yellow coloured liquid with no taste and my wife had king prawn but the prawns where tiny not one dish was like anything we expected very very poor we paid around about £150 what a disgrace

Absolute shambles. Went in for a meal, booked in plenty of advance waited an hour and a half for the main and then it was wrong. Bringing our Lamb instead of chicken etc. some dishes were cold. Two people on our table had to share a sizzler plate as they didn’t apparently have enough. People on the other side of the restaurant smoking vape and nothing was said until we told them. Waiting for the main it was a “5 minutes” “5 more minutes” which lead to an hour and a half. Someone on our party opened his cloth napkin and there was a soft chewing gum in it! Best thing about it is even after all Of this the person in charge didn’t knock anything off the bill and said “I’m short staffed” in which I added that that is not our fault, and we shouldn’t have to be treated poorly because of that. When the meals etc came out wrong you could hear him going back into the kitchen and shouting. Beyond embarrassing. Most poor experience ever!

Do not at any circumstances book to eat in the restaurant we booked for a birthday tonight 17/11/23 service was shocking only 1person to deal with takeaways and restaurant found chewing gum on my napkin when food finally arrived my tandoori mixed grill was burnt couldn't eat it this place needs to concentrate on takeaways instead of the restaurant 2 hour wait for our main course

Absolutely horrendous !!!! 11 of us Went for a birthday meal booked a few weeks ago . Only 1 person front of house and he knew he was going to be short staffed in the kitchen !!! Some meals came out cold ,some burnt , 2 guests meals came on 1 hot plate because he didn't have enough hot plates !!!! Bubble gum on a guests napkin fgs ....a couple so drunk on opposite table vaping an swearing and arguing with each other and someone collecting a meal ...what did front of house do.... Absolutely...nothing waited ages for food to not being able to eat it never again .... when complaining he would not take responsibility as he was not the boss and from a £260.00 bill he only suggested £10.00 pound off !!!! I never leave reviews but just needed to for this place .

Ordered food it was bland no taste lamb was fatty first mouth full was a piece of fat the second mouth full was fat too. Never again will I order from Tara.also order bt phone cheaper than online apparently rip off.

Lovely food and would recommend anything on the menu - very tasty. We ate in the restaurant and unfortunately the children that I can only assume belonged to the staff we sat on the table next to us with ipads and phones watching films/playing games which was did not create a pleasant atmosphere whilst trying to eat dinner.

Food is very good but the service is the worst I’ve ever come across. If you want food for 7pm you need to order about midday. Such a shame as this restaurant has great potential, I’ve been a customer for years but I think I’ve reached the end of the line😩😩

Just ordered a meal after they have re-opened, Because we used to like their food.....What a load of RUBBISH. Have you changed your Chef? If so, Get the old one back!!!! The lime pickle was inedible, It had like stones in it.... The Chicken Kahari used to be really tasty, Now it just burns your throat. The wife's chicken masala was cold and rubbery. And the Chapatis were like cardboard..... Get your act together guys, or I'll be going elsewhere.... 1 more chance next weekend.

The best Indian takeaway for miles around, great food and value for money 👍

None delivery for 2.5hrs so I called up. They had misplaced our order but found on computer and said "We be there 20 mins". 30 mins later food arrived cold and wrong items. Foodhub policy says call the takeaway for wrong delivery / refund so i did. Rude man on phone says acknowledges sent wrong item but "will not give refund... you get from foodhub" I send right food.. "No" I said "That's going to be over 4hrs now... I want refund for items I've ordered and you have not delivered". Guy shouts "NO!.. From foodhub" and puts phone down. So no refund or way to raise complaint on FOODHUB. (robotic chat function loops back to "contact takeaway direct".) Shop never did bring the correct food and refuses to discuss refund. I Will not be coming back here I am afraid. Future customers should be prepared for cold food and wrong orders without refund.

Placed an order through just eat at 2.30 in the afternoon for delivery at 6.40 waited till 8.20 and phoned had to phone again at 9.15 food arrived at 9.40 3 hours late prawns burnt chicken dry terrible food not use again

Well the food is pretty good but the service this some what lacking. Been waiting 3 and half hours now for our order.

Ordered online and it said delivery in 55 minutes. Phoned after 1 hour 20, told food was on the way. 2 hours 45minutes after another call and the food arrives. It is now in the oven as it is stone cold. Will not be ordering again

The most rude place I have ever tried to order from . I called to place an order at Tara's unfortunately I didn't know the ingredients in one of the portions wanted to order. As I was asking what was in it ,I was told I'm wasting his time , and he dropped the phone on me straight away. Since the shop was on my way home ,I passed by ,but I felt the patronising never stopped from the short guy who was taking orders. I was again told he didn't have time to listen to my request because he was busy. Will never go back again to Tara's, can't wait for the guys next door to open.

Best indian shop in Nottinghamshire great food and great service

Rang earlier to place order for collection, asked for my starter, then next item, person on phone said something but was unsure what they asked so double checked what I'd already asked for, to be spoken to in a very abrupt manner and told "listen to me madam". I apologised even though i wasnt in the wrong. Appreciate they are busy but I hung up, i didnt feel i needed to be spoken to in that way, they then rang back for my order,. I explained why I hung up and didn't even get an apology from them to continue my order, they hung up! Shocked at rudeness.

Had takeaway from here for years but that changes from today. Had a TMG and the chicken thigh was dry and tasted like rubber. Dread to think where it had been. Saved it for scientific study for if I require hospital treatment.

We placed an order on food hud I orded a mixed grill meat was cold. Rang up he was rude saying it can't be even tho he said it was out the oven 20 mins before it got to me. He was rude unprofessional and by the sounds of it doesn't know how to treat customers neither make hot food. Poor service rubbish food Would not recommend. I'd sooner have beans on toast at least it would of been HOT.

We pre ordered our food for NYE to arrive at 7.30pm, we were notified to say it wouldn’t arrive until 8pm via just eat (had no problem with this). It still wasn’t here by 9.30pm but the restaurant took the phone off the hook so we couldn’t speak to them. Just eat notified us to say it would arrive at 9.55pm but by 10.15pm it still wasn’t here so my husband nipped down to ask for a refund. He was told they couldn’t because the manager wasn’t there and that our order was out for delivery! Safe to say it never arrived and we will never order from this poor takeaway again. The service is terrible! There are much better takeaways with better honest service in this area, don’t waste your time here.

My family ordered a meal to be delivered. We used their website to decide what we wanted. But we got the wrong nan. We phone to complain about this as we wanted cheese but got peshwari instead. When we phoned to point this out the man on the phone argued it had changed from the website and it’s his wife’s fault. But we asked for cheese and when has that sounded like peshwari we pointed out. He just argued so I pointed out politely that how he spoke and argued to me wasn’t good customer service and got a goodbye and hung up on. Terrible attitude and the meal we did have wasn’t as nice as it used to be. Very sweet and no curry flavour and a lot of artificial colouring. We won’t be using them again.

Not impressed tonight - no pickle tray, the raita was awful think it was no fat yoghurt or watered down. Everything was sweet no spice at all , cauliflower was raw and saag paneer bland. To top it all everything including the raita was luke warm. Time to find a new takeaway I am afraid...

Take away on time but forgot korma. Rang them straight away and within ten minutes they delivered. They were very apologetic. Food was lovley. Will be going here again. Staff we very pleasant on the phone. Thank you so much. Xx

Reasonably priced food. On occasion the curry dishes seem to be very salty tasting. Staff are always friendly and accommodating the place is very clean.

Whether you wish to order your meal to takeaway or decide to eat in the restaurant which is fully licensed, I guarantee that you will not be disappointed with the food or service. I submitted a review for 'Illachi' now renamed Bengal Lounge praising the food and service. Tara is better. Parking is the only downside but the food is worth it.

A wide choice with good-sized portions at fair prices, I particularly enjoy the Chicken Tikka Marsala, with a variety of sides.

Prices are very reasonable. Staff were very sociable. Decor could be a bit better though.

I ordered an Indian for two at 18:10 and was told it would be an hour, so at 19:30 I rang to ask were it was, “it’s been sent - it’s on it’s way” so I waited till 19:50 and still no Indian! I rang again and they discounted by £6 but when it finally came at20:35 it was freezing cold and they had to send the delivery driver back with a full discount!!! Will never use them again! I normally love there food but never again!!!!

Food is yummy! Ask for DESI style and youll get a turbo hot curry like indians eat. Clean place tucked away. Not expensive as normally your paying above €2 a chappati its €1.30 ish here.
