Bold Forester in Mansfield

Didn't rate enough earlier,great place to visit always some life in there,even comfortable visiting alone thanks to linz and her great team

Came on Thursday lunch time with my husband and 2 children was welcomed on arrival which was really nice to receive it was clean food was beautiful and came out at a reasonable time had a overall really good experience and will be back again

Great value food and nice place. Good service. Decent selection of ales. Easy parking. Really enjoyed Sunday roast and generous dessert

I’ve never had a bad meal at the bold forester. The staff are pleasant and welcoming. There’s always a variety of ipa drinks on offer, and the food menu gets changed on a regular basis. The breakfast’s are always welcoming( especially after the night before) . Thank you the team from bold.

Friendly stuff food was nice. And very cheap With the promotion they have running at the moment Dinner for two adults and three children under £20. The cabins are outside are a nice touch as well.

9 of us went here the food was not good. Coffee was nearly cold.

We went to the Bold Forrester for lunch. Being a good size party of people, we booked the table. We pre-ordered to make it easier for everyone, which worked really well the food came out without any hitches.

Never a bad meal, good portion size

The lad that served our meal was friendly. The fish and chips were a really good size for the price. We sat outside in one of those shelters so can't comment on atmosphere. Overall good place.

very poor meal tonight the worst I have had in any hungry horse six chips on my meal complained about it to be told "well the head chef is in tonight " as if that was some justification. Fantastic range of food, excellently cooked and brilliant prices. Well recommended. Been twice recently, either they have changed suppliers or cooks, but the quality of the pies seem to be lower. Still good value though.

Just popped in for a drink and sat outdoors, it was very pleasant with the surrounding trees and hedges . Will definitely be back again soon and we will be sampling something from the menu.

Had Breakfast , great service , Hannah & Linsey were very attentive and nice. Also had evening meals and drinks and Brad was extremely good in his customer service skills and help. Would recommend.

San Miguel was cold and wet. Ideal for looking out over marbella marina. However, it's just as cold and wet sat at a picnic table in the carpark.

Not the place for a nice Sunday dinner with the family. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Some of our food was ok, but the vegetables with the roast dinners were cold and uncooked. The tables were sticky to the touch. The atmosphere was ok but much more of a sports bar feel with lots of rowdy football fans.

We visited today (Bank Holiday Monday) we didn't have to wait long for our meals. The food was great, and tasty. The service was first class! We will defiantly be visiting again

Really disappointing, myself and my partner had a roast turkey dinner. The turkey was processed sandwich filling. Roast potatoes done in the deep fat fryer and vastly over cooked, stuffing was way overcooked and rock solid.. Vegetables were raw. Step son had the crown of burgers and the chicken was unchewable and rock hard, the buns that the burgers were severed in were stale. The staff were friendly and approachable and the service was fine but the did seem vastly understaffed, but the quality of the food spoiled our dinner. Had a few meals here before and always enjoyed them but this was really poor and leaving me wondering if I'll spend my money here again.

We come here as a family for a meal or as a couple. We enjoy the atmosphere in the pub. The food is great and a good price.

We love this place, we frequent most often for breakfast. Prices are great value and staff cater for all dietary requirements, including the new to solids baby who loves a hashbrown. When we come for dinner there is a good variety of food at very reasonable prices. The staff are always pleased to see you and make an effort to speak with you and treat you with respect.

We have frequented the Bold Forester on numerous occasions, and each time, the meals have been fantastic. The wait has been more than reasonable, and the food has been to a high standard. The portion sizes are also ample. My only tiny criticism and this is only a personal one... the is NEVER anywhere near enough gravy on the Sunday Roasts. To the point I have even considered bringing my own gravy. I myself and my mother frequently have mixed grills, and the steak is always cooked to our liking. My husband tends to have the starter sharing platter as his main so he can just pick and nibble at the wide variety there is on offer, which he loves as he tends to get bored with a meal of the same thing. The cocktails are amazing, and there are a wide variety of wines, draft and bottled beer, lager, and ciders as well as non alcohol beers/lagers and soft drinks. The pub itself is quaint and cosy with a family atmosphere, and the staff are warm, friendly, and welcoming. A great pub for an everyday meal out, Sunday lunch or for a special occasion such as a birthday. Pop in. You won't be disappointed!

Wow, really busy Friday night. What's going on? Didn't have food, just beer. Good night out with friends. Update: Daytime visit with wifey for some food. Really busy again but we managed to get a table and order some food. It was tasty enough and service was prompt but the presentation and quantity was, for me lacking, especially given the price which not the cheapest. Still given the place was packed, maybe I'm being a bit picky.

This isn’t my first time here but managed to bring the whole family for my sisters birthday today. I absolutely love this place. The food quality is always absolutely amazing and the prices are unbeatable. Honestly, this has been mine and my partners go to for the past few months. It’s a hidden gem. Highly recommended

Went on Friday night to this pub. Booked a table requesting view of a TV that was showing the football. To get there and be seated at a table barely able to see a TV from such an angle that made it nearly unwatchable, ordered a burger that arrived that was literally swimming in bbq sauce. Then 5 minutes Into the second half the staff changed the TV over to snooker refusing to change it back because "oh our regulars have asked for this" as if I hadn't already requested any spot to watch the game. The staff were so dismissive and condescending from there I just left and went home. Awful behavior from them considering I asked way in advance when I booked the table to be able to watch the game. And the fact I have also been going here for the better part of 15 years also quite regularly to watch footy. I will be finding somewhere else to watch the sports from now on

Very quick efficient service and food didn't take long at all to come out . All of us really enjoyed our meals , we was pleasantly surprised at how nice they were . A variety of vegetarian options are available. Decent portions and brilliant value for money . Desserts were really nice aswell . We will be back

Love visiting the pub for a few drinks and food. Staff are all friendly and service is good. Very good atmosphere all round especially when football is on.

Been going one a month for several years and never had a bad experience.

My husband and my son visited here this morning 17/12/23 for breakfast, they had a simple request that their eggs be flipped with no runny white part (thats like slime) breakfast was delivered all 5 of their eggs were NOT cooked properly and mushrooms on one breakfast where cold, they raised the issue with the staff, they bought my husband his breakfast back with flipped eggs but still cold mushrooms, instead of taking my sons plate away they just took the 3 eggs off his plate never to be returned!!!!! £24 for the privilege of a ridiculous over priced poorly served breakfast (probably not even temperature checked food?) Your staff offered no apology, no sort of refund, or even offered a hot beverage as by way of an apology for a shocking breakfast!! Never again will they come for food here again, I do understand this time of year is pretty stressful within the catering industry but at no time should your standards ever drop, infact you should if anything up you're game to keep your footfall coming through the doors.

I went with the family for the Festive Menu at the Bold Forester in Mansfield Nottinghamshire and was very disappointed. The meal was extremely basic, great if you are a bunny or guinea pig, and dry with barely enough gravy. Both my mum and I struggled to swallow the very dry stuffing, and that was after asking for more gravy, which was nowhere near enough. 1 tiny gravy boat each then one a bit bigger between us. The plate was almost all veg, hardly anything else, and the veg was hard, and the brussell was the worst by far which was watery, squeaky and hard in the middle YUK! We were also very disappointed that there was no mash. Sunday dinners are far better. On the other hand, my husband's meal was delicious, and the desserts were excellent and top-notch for the service. That, as always, cannot be faulted. It is just a shame that 2/4 of the dinners were disgraceful. The meal can not be classed as a roast; it is just a place of veg. I'm not a rabbit! The gravy was gold as they clearly did not want to let much of it go, and there was no way they could call it a "FESTIVE" menu. A cross of narrow strips of disposable tablecloths and a cheap and nasty cracker for each of us does not constitute a Christmas meal. Nothing on the meal sang Christmas. I cannot recommend the Festive Menus but I can recommend the other menus as we have eaten from the other menus and they were lovely, even the Sunday lunch but the same issue with the gravy situation, (My advice take your own gravy in a small flask)

I rated it 3 because it was very cramped were we was sat for our festive menu .Food was alright needs improvement need to be softer not over cooked made more Christmasy like red cabbage as law instead of basic slaw .More cheese on top of chicken topping more not over cooked and served with mash potatoes not Fry's peas was ok but mushy peas would be nice option.Felt lacked flavour just felt basic meal not festive.would still come back for food .pudding very small portion should had pour on cream not just ice-cream .Need more options with meals . overall not bad meal could be better room for improvement.

Come here as often as possible. Always great food and service. Very reasonably priced and will be going back for breakfast in the morning. Had quite a few breakfasts here. Always get more than enough and at a good price

Fabulous breakfast today at the Bold Forester

Have visited several times, but tonight we waited at least an hour for our main courses and 3 of the mains were very small. There were 6 of us, 4 adults and 2 children who were getting bored. We had 3 Tandoori Chicken sizzlers and they had been cooked too much and stuck to the skillet and portion for £12 were small, not much chicken or onions/peppers. My son in law had the Bangin Katsu banquet (his was good value and good portion) to say his was only 30p more than ours. Just to say we've had many meals here and have been happy with our food, service and staff, but very disappointing this time. Must have been a bad night as someone near to us said they were dissatisfied with the wait and food portion they received.

Ain't a bad pint and the meals is OK, big carpark, loads of outside seats if that's your thing

Fabulous food and service staff are great, lovely atmosphere. I will be calling tomorrow to book for 12 for next weekend. Scrap that, can't book for 12 ridiculous, we shall take our money elsewhere.

Always a pleasant experience, we nip in every now and again for a bit of lunch and have never been disappointed. Service is always extremely friendly and efficient. Great selection of food and drinks (we drink low alcohol and they're is a decent choice of mocktails and low % lager) Recommended if you live local or are passing though. Free parking and a large beer garden is a bonus.

We switched up our regular about a year ago, and haven't looked back since. The staff are lovely, the beers good, and the food is good solid pub food. Think this pub will be our regular for the foreseeable.

Great value for money on food. Service is usually very good unless very busy, then it's still good. Atmosphere depends on what you want, football/ sports on all large screens in all areas apart from dining side where it's more family appropriate. You can still eat in the screened areas too. The only let down, sometimes, is the ladies toilets. Definitely ready for a refurbishment.
