Bold Forester in Mansfield

This is not gourmet food, it is good fairly budget friendly food. Quality is generally great, I have had a gristley steak once, but mostly very enjoyable. (My complaint was well sorted without fuss) This is a good place to meet up with friends for a breakfast, brunch or lunch or even coffee. Decorating is getting a bit worn because the place is well used. I meet friends here about every 3 weeks. And will probably keep doing so. Blue light discount of 15%, so a Steak breakfast with a Tea is under a tenner.

Came here for my sons 17th birthday so booked to have meal, Couldn't get some of the things from the menu , for example, turkey dinner , ran out so had to settle with beef , which wasn't nice to fatty hard to chew , my step dad asked for a steak well done , came medium rare and was really chewy , my little one wanted pasta , couldn't get that, ran out , roast potatoes was disgusting, wasn't enough gravey , the mash potatoe wasn't even proper mash , microwaved crap , the only good thing was the puddings and staff where amazing

A family meal to celebrate Grandsons 17th birthday. Apart of eleven,10 adults and one child. Food was lovely and cooked to prefection. Dessert was divine, especially the four Serving of the top dessert the one that comes in the really really big wine glass!!!! Well all finished it all, flakes the lot. The grandson and everyone in our party really enjoyed themselves. Thank you

As a vegan I find it hard to find places with choice. However, this place had a decent choice. The food was cooked a great and the staff very friendly! The pub was warm, welcoming and clean.

I attend the veterans breakfast club every Saturday morning. The food is always first class and is served within a reasonable time by staff who are friendly, courteous and professional. The atmosphere is as you could imagine with a bunch of ex servicemen and women. The staff have gotten used to us by now and join in the fun. I absolutely love it there and will continue to go for as long as I’m able.

Moved close a couple of years ago and have visited the nearest pub a few times, walked down here a couple of weeks ago for a breakfast, was pleasantly surprised. Excellent breakfast for a very fair price. Decided to try a Friday tea time. Great atmosphere, good pub food priced very reasonably. People were coming in at 6pm and were struggling for a table, which to me tells its own story. Excellent pub, great courteous staff,will definitely be back .

Brilliant breakfast menu, I've become a regular for the steak n eggs, also the waffles and eggs Benedict look lovely, loads of choice, also really great friendly staff, the place has a comfortable chilled out vibe.

Love this little Pub for pub grub, they have a great menu and the staff all go above and beyond. We have stopped going to one pub in particular due to rudeness of the staff but coming here really restored my faith in great customer service. They always advise you on the deals and offers always polite kind and caring food is good and cooked well. There was a bit of a wait to order but in all fairness it was a day when football was on and it was busy. I will be going back and would recommend. Give it a try!

Satember 17th September 2024 This is a great green kings hungry horse on the outskirts only Mansfield This pub had on today 3 fantastic nlone ales from interesting breweies a great clientele and bar staff The inside and outdoor drinking areas were good, and even though I did not eat, plenty of locals were eating today

Was upon entering there was a 20m wait for food due to maintenance, no problem there, ordered a hot chocolate whilst waiting for food which wasn't hot at all just tasted like room temperature water, 40m later food arrived, toast was black and stale the sausage had been microwaved the hash was cold the only food that was fresh was the egg and bacon due to the grill just been fixed rest of food clearly been sat there waiting for grill, to top it all off whilst trying to enjoy what little bit I could of my meal I had to endure the staff shouting about her alcohol addiction saying she drinks too much at home safe to say will not be eating there again

Table felt 'sticky' to the touch. Food debris on the floor. Not very helpful staff. Minimal vegetables, a dessert spoonful of stoggy mashed potatoe but the cauliflower cheese was perfect.

Just been for breakfast, great atmosphere, very accommodating with food for my picky kids, could not be more helpful, and an absolute bargain, so much food, so little on the pocket, exceptional service and value. Love it here x

Great beer and fabulous burgers. BOGOF deal in burgers on Fridays makes it cheaper, faster, hotter and nicer than waiting for a lukewarm macky dees... plus you can get a pint of Abbot. What's not to like? Plenty of parking too, just make sure you book a table.

Came on Thursday lunch time with my husband and 2 children was welcomed on arrival which was really nice to receive it was clean food was beautiful and came out at a reasonable time had a overall really good experience and will be back again

Very poor. Old pub renovated. Toilets are from the sixties with a lick of paint! The time visited was mid week lunch, it wasn't busy but the table wasn't cleaned properly and felt grubby. The rump steak was large and thick but too raw to use the steak to cut it. An 'apology about that' when asked at payment if everything was ok, but nothing more. Lamb Keema stack could've been put together by a 4 year old. No style, thought or panache. Won't be going ever again.

I’ve never had a bad meal at the bold forester. The staff are pleasant and welcoming. There’s always a variety of ipa drinks on offer, and the food menu gets changed on a regular basis. The breakfast’s are always welcoming( especially after the night before) . Thank you the team from bold.

Friendly stuff food was nice. And very cheap With the promotion they have running at the moment Dinner for two adults and three children under £20. The cabins are outside are a nice touch as well.

There is a Veterans breakfast club held every Saturday morning. The staff always look after us well and nothing is to much trouble for them. Some of us also visit the pub besides the breakfast club. Couldn't meet a nicer bunch of people.

Paid 20 quid for a 11oz steak got 14 chips with scampi got 4 of those looked really poorly presented you expect alot more for the money not impressed at all

We went to the Bold Forrester for lunch. Being a good size party of people, we booked the table. We pre-ordered to make it easier for everyone, which worked really well the food came out without any hitches.

Never a bad meal, good portion size

The lad that served our meal was friendly. The fish and chips were a really good size for the price. We sat outside in one of those shelters so can't comment on atmosphere. Overall good place.

very poor meal tonight the worst I have had in any hungry horse six chips on my meal complained about it to be told "well the head chef is in tonight " as if that was some justification. Fantastic range of food, excellently cooked and brilliant prices. Well recommended. Been twice recently, either they have changed suppliers or cooks, but the quality of the pies seem to be lower. Still good value though.

Just popped in for a drink and sat outdoors, it was very pleasant with the surrounding trees and hedges . Will definitely be back again soon and we will be sampling something from the menu.

San Miguel was cold and wet. Ideal for looking out over marbella marina. However, it's just as cold and wet sat at a picnic table in the carpark.

Not the place for a nice Sunday dinner with the family. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Some of our food was ok, but the vegetables with the roast dinners were cold and uncooked. The tables were sticky to the touch. The atmosphere was ok but much more of a sports bar feel with lots of rowdy football fans.

We visited today (Bank Holiday Monday) we didn't have to wait long for our meals. The food was great, and tasty. The service was first class! We will defiantly be visiting again

Really disappointing, myself and my partner had a roast turkey dinner. The turkey was processed sandwich filling. Roast potatoes done in the deep fat fryer and vastly over cooked, stuffing was way overcooked and rock solid.. Vegetables were raw. Step son had the crown of burgers and the chicken was unchewable and rock hard, the buns that the burgers were severed in were stale. The staff were friendly and approachable and the service was fine but the did seem vastly understaffed, but the quality of the food spoiled our dinner. Had a few meals here before and always enjoyed them but this was really poor and leaving me wondering if I'll spend my money here again.

We love this place, we frequent most often for breakfast. Prices are great value and staff cater for all dietary requirements, including the new to solids baby who loves a hashbrown. When we come for dinner there is a good variety of food at very reasonable prices. The staff are always pleased to see you and make an effort to speak with you and treat you with respect.

We have frequented the Bold Forester on numerous occasions, and each time, the meals have been fantastic. The wait has been more than reasonable, and the food has been to a high standard. The portion sizes are also ample. My only tiny criticism and this is only a personal one... the is NEVER anywhere near enough gravy on the Sunday Roasts. To the point I have even considered bringing my own gravy. I myself and my mother frequently have mixed grills, and the steak is always cooked to our liking. My husband tends to have the starter sharing platter as his main so he can just pick and nibble at the wide variety there is on offer, which he loves as he tends to get bored with a meal of the same thing. The cocktails are amazing, and there are a wide variety of wines, draft and bottled beer, lager, and ciders as well as non alcohol beers/lagers and soft drinks. The pub itself is quaint and cosy with a family atmosphere, and the staff are warm, friendly, and welcoming. A great pub for an everyday meal out, Sunday lunch or for a special occasion such as a birthday. Pop in. You won't be disappointed!

Wow, really busy Friday night. What's going on? Didn't have food, just beer. Good night out with friends. Update: Daytime visit with wifey for some food. Really busy again but we managed to get a table and order some food. It was tasty enough and service was prompt but the presentation and quantity was, for me lacking, especially given the price which not the cheapest. Still given the place was packed, maybe I'm being a bit picky.

The food quality is always absolutely amazing and the prices are unbeatable. Honestly, this has been mine and my partners go to for the past few months. It’s a hidden gem. Highly recommended
