Dave the landlord and his team is very welcoming pricing is reasonable with quality drinks and a large range of snacks with discos on most Fridays and Saturdays with a reasonable size function room with two large beer gardens with plenty of seating and family and dog friendly

Only got a drink and went on the machine and lost

The bar staff are very helpful and pleasant

It's a good place to go after visiting Tesco and then catching the bus if it turns up

Went to a 60th birthday party excellent friendly staff very clean

Sat in public bar which is a perfect example of its type. Decoration awful, bit rough but beer really good. It's rare I've enjoyed a pint of John Smith's but this really was fresh, clean and tasty. Bar girl very efficient and if you like these type of estate pubs, I do, give it a try. Just don't expect plush, neat, comfortable surroundings

Hired a room and a buffet for a family get together for 30 people. The management were fantastic and very friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The buffet was absolutely amazing , everyone commented on how delicious the food was and the excellent service. I’ll be going there all the time from now on!

Everything about this place reminds you of the old adage "never drink in a flat roof pub", but if you give it a chance the locals are friendly and welcoming, and the food can be good.

I am loathed to leave negative reviews and this is the first i have left !! I usually prefer not to make a comment as having worked in the industry I understand people's expectations. However, I recently attended this establishment on a Thursday 5pm ish. I was with my elderly mother who i thought i would treat and prefer to use individual pubs rather than chains. There was a sign outside advertising meals and as i was taking her for her weekly shop I thought this would be ideal. We entered the establishment and my mum enquired if meals were available? I presume she was a member of the bar staff as she was stood behind the bar. she made NO eye contact and mumbled "no we don't serve now" I was appalled by her dismissive manner and she also made me feel embarrassed asking her. This is NOT how you treat prospective clientele. I will never enter this establishment again. I suggest the manager gives all his staff customer service training,

Ate here prior to a meeting I had at the pub at 7pm. The usual landlady/cook was away on holiday so the menu was somewhat limited but the food I ordered was well cooked and tasty. For the standard of food this place is great value for money. You could certainly tell though that the usual cook was not there as the salad on the plate was not dressed with the usual lovely salad dressing. You also usually get a choice of chips or skinny fries but this was not an option. To me this was a shame as I prefer skinny fries to fat chips. Will not put me off eating here as the food is very good.

Tried a Sunday lunch as we had been midweek before and wondered if it was as good !! We were not disappointed, everything was cooked perfect with ample portions. The staff are very curtiuos and can't do enough. Definitely going again.

Went for a meal as a group of four adults on a Saturday evening. The service was attentive without being overbearing. We ordered 4 starters and 4 mains of all of which were beautifully presented and came piping hot. The quality of the food matched the presentation and was first class. The prawns in batter were succulent, hot and tasty in a batter that was light crispy and clearly home made accompanied with a fresh well dressed salad and spicy chilli sauce. The mains included a Mixed grill which beats the bland offerings usually dished out at more expensive restaurants. The Surf and Turf comes with cooked whole prawns and not cheap scampi like you would find elsewhere. The lasagne was home made and great quality.What a great place to eat. The value for money is exceptional compared to more over rated places we have ate in around Mansfield. It is a pity more people don't frequent here for something to eat, as they a clearly missing out.

nice and friendly pub clean tidy .been there several times never had a bad meal yet always cooked to order awesome and the price was very good . the pub looks a bit tired could do with tidying up .but apart from that can't fault the pub and food . would go again .

Steak was cooked perfectly, plenty on the plate. you will not be disappointed!! Had a lovely afternoon on the beer garden with friends and my partner. Bar staff are great

Really nice homemade food. The meat in the steak and onion pie was tender and no fat whatsoever served with fresh veg. A family member had the steak and said it was cooked to perfection and the homemade onion rings and coleslaw were a lovely accompaniment.

Come here today for a pork dinner can't no recommend this enough. Great staff, brilliant food and not a shabby place loved it.

Very welcoming staff , dont be put off by the decor this isnits only let down , the food was very well presented and lots of it well done to the chefs expecially the lovely lady chef in red , she served the food to us and you could see her pride it showed in her presentation skills , we will definitely return we loved it, thanks to the team well done

Ate here on Thursday evening prior to a meeting I had at the Pub at 7pm. Arrived at 6pm and ordered a smaller appetite portion of scampi and fries which came with a free cup of tea or coffee - all for £4.95. I had never eaten here before so was not sure what to expect. The portion was ample size and very well presented - came with a small pot of mushy peas, a separate pot of tartare sauce and a lovely little dressed salad. The food was freshly and beautifully cooked. Other ladies in the group had smaller appetite portions of gammon and egg, chicken kiev, fish and chips and all were good sized portions and beautifully cooked. I would certainly recommend this place and wil definitely be eating here again.

Friendly staff, lovely food and great value for money - couldn't eat it all and was still full ten hours later! Well worth a visit :)

Found this place thanks to trip advisor and we weren't disappointed. Traditional English food cooked beautifully. Why eat in these nasty chains when you can come here?!The staff were very welcoming and couldn't do enough for you, we will be back for Christmas fayre and the Sunday roast :)

No pub grub here all home cooked food!! Visited tonight after reading reviews, cannot understand why it was empty? The food was by far the best we have eaten in the Mansfield and surrounding area!!!! Come on folks well worth a try you will not be disappointed believe me??? We will be going back again and again!!

Friday 6th of November we had our first visit to The Cuckoo Birch , we live 5minutes away and have known about the pub for years even before the present owners, after we read the recent reviews we decided to try an evening meal, we were a bit apprehensive due to the past reputation but were very very surprised and delighted at the tasty meal I had the trout from the specials board, my husband had homemade quiche both dishes were excellent and will certainly be going again soon

Always busy I recommend booing especially on a SundayBeautiful homemade food, non of that pre heated crapCute little play are for kids

Despite living quite close to the cuckoo birch, this was our first visit.We had a bit of a wait but was informed straight away there would be as they were catering for an old persons club who had ordered just before us.A really warm welcome and a feel good factor about the place. When our very reasonably priced food arrived it was well presented, and exceedingly delicious, excellent portions too. Don't let the exterior put you off, as they say - you can't judge a book by it's cover! On speaking with the very approachable staff, we were informed all the ingredients were locally sourced from farm shops, and you could tell.We will definitely be back and recommending it to others!

Don't be put off by the exterior! Me and a friend hesitantly tried here as we wanted to go somewhere we hadn't been and trip advisor reviews read great. We wasn't disappointed. The food was lovely, homemade, well presented, reasonably priced food, a touch of personality behind it, something ordinary pub grub lacks! Will definitely try again!!

14 friends and family visited on saturday 29th for my birthday meal. Although you wait for your food it comes out hot and tastes divine best place we've eaten in a log time x

I love coming here for food . Nice friendly staff , Great prices , very big portions (I usually have to have a starter for my main meal) and most of all fresh & homemade!!!

We came here on 26th may, didn't book a table and turned up with a group of about 16. Even though they wasn't prepared and only one person on the bar, the meals was excellent and the staff were brilliant.

Ordered home made pie and home made lasagne. Both very good and clearly home made. Nice chips and a very fresh dressed salad. Nice people behind the bar too. Have already recommended it to friends. Will be back soon.

Passed numerous times over the years, went on recommendations from friends and wasn't disappointed! Meal was lovely, big portions and great value. Home made chips was especially nice! Will return again and looking forward to trying the highly rated Sunday lunches!

We go for a meal every saturday after work and have never had a bad meal,the food is by far the best in Mansfield and is always piping hot and very tasty,no frozen rubbish,just proper home cooked food,great value for money,Highly recommend this pub you really wont be dissapointed.

We go every week for tea a group of friends in our 50s . we have never had a meal that we have thoroughly enjoyed. all the staff are lovely and make us feel welcome every week. give it a go you won't be disappointed .

Just had sausages and mash kids had pizza and fries with a free ice lolly for desert. food was spot on inc drink the whole lot was under £20 will deffo go again and I do recommend.

I love this place for food it's all freshly cooked and have never had a bad meal it's beautiful! Brilliant place for family's aswell. I go most weeks and never disappointed

Been for the first time tonight and must say I was very surprised at the quality of food. Had the homemade lasagne and mixed grill. Best in town.

Just been for Sunday lunch. Best I've had around Mansfield, £5.95 for a good sized meal.The place has revently been refurbished and looks great. Will be trying meal through the week next. I've heard they are really good.
