Nice venue for breakfast but Avocado Smash sounds like it would be make with an avocado, not processed guacamole from a tub provided by a catering wholesaler. Shame as the food used to be great.

I have eaten here many times and have always had the best time however, last night I went again with a group of 12 and the service was absolutely shocking! The table placement for a start was so bizarre, it was blocking a walk way into the seating area so my partner moved his chair as to let people pass and enable the servers to reach his side of the table easier however, the manager demanded he moved back to the other side of the table in a rude manner, he decided to stay sat where he was as to not have to constantly move every time someone walks past. After waiting over an hour for the food (which was delicious) the manager once again continued being rude and unpleasant, at one point physically barging into my chair purposefully! She slammed some vinegar on the table so hard had it been harder it would have smashed. This attitude continued throughout the evening. We then received the bill with an added £45 service charge which we asked to be removed but we were told they couldn’t remove it as they had already started to process the payment, which is nonsense and illegal. Disappointed would be an understatement! No fault of the people in the kitchen as the food was incredible as always, but for sure they need to train the staff better in customer service. Especially the manger.

Il Rosso was the venue for my recent 60th birthday party which was held in the Terrace. The event was a real success and thoroughly enjoyable. Nothing was too much trouble and Nichola was a great help in planning every detail of the event. The buffet was excellent - high quality and plenty to go around the 70 guests. The staff were very obliging. The party went on for a lot longer than planned as everyone was having such a great time. We go to Il Rosso regularly and are always impressed. Mansfield is lucky to have such a great place to socialise and meet friends.

Some of the rudest management I’ve ever seen.., told us to block an entrance to appeal to two regulars… went on to call us to the kitchen staff who we knew and informed us. Over priced forced tip for service not worth it and a bad overall experience. 1/10

This was our first visit to Il Rosso, a family of 3 celebrating an Anniversary. We ordered 3 courses from the Meat Free Monday menu and we all agreed the food was absolutely divine - compliments to the Chef! We were looked after by two delightful people who were friendly, professional and attentive. The restaurant is very tastefully decorated with a relaxed atmosphere. To sum up, we couldn’t fault anything and we will certainly be visiting again. Would definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for good food at a good price in lovely surroundings 👍

Came for breakfast on Sunday 8th September Poached eggs not cooked enough still clear liquid running through, didn't complain about eggs should had, Hash brown black hair on it, replaced it, staff didn't seem that bothered overall not as I expected, £12.50 for breakfast would if expected better, won't be back.

My Husband and I traveled to Mansfield UK for a family function and we had breakfast at Il Rosso. I had the full Il Rossi Breakfast, #fullenglishbreakfast and it was amazing! I ordered it without the black pudding but it was delicious nonetheless!! The server was great and the she and the bartender oh taught us some proper English slang and how to pronounce the various names of the counties!!! It was a blast meeting y’all and I do hope we go back and see you all again!! I would post a picture of the dish but I can’t figure out how to do that. :-)

Arrived for a meal booked table online and had to pay £10 to secure booking because if you do not attend they will deduct £10. Not a good start but went ahead anyway as heard from people that it is a nice place. When arrived warm atmosphere very busy tap room area, had to enter car reg on iPad for parking. Asked at the bar about reservation signposted to restaurant area. Arrived at restaurant area and greeted by a lady who appeared not very friendly and happy to be there. The restaurant very nice and appeared to have a sophisticated look with leather seats that’s was never wiped down in between use. Guided to table was immediately brought table water over and asked if we were having wine, declined wine glasses removed. Given a few menu , nothing special. Chose the set menu at 2 course £20 had a started of risotto and then chose scampi and chips .. the other choice chicken and mushroom pie, beef curry and a vegetarian dish of falafel. Drinks order at the table 3 x Pepsi max( £5 each ) Food arrived start risotto very nice and then with 20 mins main course scampi and french fries no chips. Over cooked French fries. It was horrible to be honest a sophisticated restaurant with a nice menu and you do not get what you pay for on the menu I was expecting chips not overcooked scrappy french fries. Would not recommend. Waitress staff not very attentive and had to ask to have the plates removed and had to ask for the dessert at least twice for one person in my party. The desert was horrid I don’t know where the cookie was I dernwth the scoop of ice cream. Staff unapproachable and not friendly Wouldn’t recommend However the bill was £75 so that was 3 set. Meals at £20 each and £5 for a drink of pop. Would not recommend. Or go back again every over priced restaurant

Also sent this 4 weeks ago to El Rosso and received no reply! We booked for 20 people for a wake at 3.30pm. The area at the back is lovely and private. The food was great and the kitchen staff were really friendly and helpful. But, some improvement points: 1. Although the bar was not busy not one member of staff came to serve drinks or ask if everything was ok or clear empty glasses 2. We had to ask for food plates to be removed from the table 3. When we ordered drinks at the bar they were put on two trays and no offer to help tp carry the drinks (second round of drinks there was an offer) 4. As one of the hosts I spent a lot of my time ordering drinks and asking staff, time which could have been spent with the guests 5. On booking- there was no option to speak to anyone by telephone and it took a week per email for a response. My Mum even went there in person and was told the manager was not there and no one else could help 6. We paid 190 pounds deposit but when paying the remainder we were told that the deposit had to be refunded and the total amount paid. This is ineffective and doesn’t make sense. Overall I was not satisfied and it is disappointing as it was a very sad occasion for all the guests and these small but basic service tasks should have been in place

The food was very good, and has been the last few times we've visited. The atmosphere is nice and sitting in the Terrace is a pleasant experience. Some staff are friendly but a few are quite unfriendly. Service was slow nearly 30 minutes wait for starter and 30 mins for main course, but the food was worth the wait. They add a 9% tip to the bill which I really didn't like when the service wasn't up to scratch, tips should be down to customer discretion not the restaurant to take anyway.

I am gluten free and have been before and had a good experience so knew there were plenty of decent GF options available. However shortly after ordering the meatball pizza (marked as gf adaptable on the menu) the server returned to inform me that the meatballs themselves contain gluten so they can't make this GF, offering only to make the pizza without meatballs (the main topping) or order something else, but seeming uninformed on the options and not bringing a menu to refer to. While I was able to get a standard meat pizza which was very good, the overall experience was slightly soured.

Have dined at Il Rosso many times over the years but yesterday's Sunday Lunch was very disappointing. I accept prices have risen recently but that is surely not an excuse for service and quality to diminish. Very slow service, waited an hour and a half for main meal and only served after making protest, and this was in a designated slot of two hours. Food only mediocre compared to previous visits. Up your game please!!

We recently booked a work function with Il Rosso and although the actual event and day was incredible, it was unfortunately let down on a number of factors. The food and buffet provided to us was incredible and went down an absolute treat, so I fully cannot fault the people working in the kitchen. Additionally, I would also like to add there was a younger gentleman working our event and handing out beverages upon arrival - he was friendly, happy to converse and his service was fantastic. This is the only reason I have given our review two stars and not the one. The entire arrangement of the event was an absolute nightmare from start to finish as all correspondence was predominantly requested via email, but then it was rare that you would receive a response. We did happen to call a few times to probe and even went down to the premises but was completely fobbed off as they were "understaffed and too busy." I have worked in the industry and am very empathetic when it comes to these circumstances; however, it was a Tuesday just after midday and the venue was completely dead. We mentioned on a couple of occasions that the manager (Nicola) actually came across quite rude, abrupt and that although we were providing a lot of money/custom to the business, a lack of care too. Overall, the event was great but was completely let down by poor communication and management. If you're wanting to visit Il Rosso then I'd say that you'd be better having a meal and vacating than arranging any type of function.

Had breakfast there with my partner and my best friends on 27/07/24 . It was very busy inside so we ordered drinks andsat outside which was lovely. However 2 breakfasts came out and we waited for several minutes without cutlery, the other 2 breakfasts and the drinks. The waitress came out with her arms loaded with the other breakfasts and cutlery, napkins and sauces.The drinks followed shortly after. Breakfast was lovely, well cooked and plenty. I think more staff was needed on that particular day.

Yesterday, I went with my mom, who is in a wheelchair, for lunch about 1pm. I have never before been made to feel so unwelcome when going out for lunch. Firstly all the low tables in the bar area had 'reserved' on them so we couldn't sit at any of them. All the other tables are high bar stools, so no good if you are in a wheelchair. So, the next option is to go up a step to the main restaurant area. I managed this, with difficulty, finally got my mom's wheelchair into a table only to be told by a member of staff 'you can't sit there'. I explained all the lower bar tables have 'reserved' on them, this table does not. She replied ' someone has requested this table' 'you can sit in the corner over there' The young woman was pointing to a table that I was never going to get my mom's wheelchair near to. I was so upset at this point that I said 'forget it we are leaving' which I think suited il Rosso just fine. They were so unhelpful. That was the first time I had ever been and it will be the last. Disability discrimination all over. Rude and offensive. Very sad from a place I had been wanting to take my mom for ages 😔

Came for my partners birthday meal, just the two of us, went to order drinks as we were a little early, bar staff looked so unhappy and very, very slow. moved onto our meal, ordered another drink, our food came before out drinks did, we'd finished our meal! Restaurant was very quiet, lots of staff just stood talking, my partner had to wave down the waitress to clear out plates, eventually our drinks turned up, again had to wave down for the bill.. The only thing that saved this from being a 0* rating was the food... It was absolutely amazing so well done chefs!!

Just returned from a family meal . I must say the food was lovely, very tasty ,hot and well presented. However the service was shocking. Only 3 tables in the restaurant so not busy and plenty of waiting staff pottering around. After we finished our main it took a while for our table to cleared and after that nothing ! Never asked if we wanted any more drinks or a dessert. After 20-30 minutes we asked for the bill and left . Out with my elderly mother for her birthday and didn’t want to say anything but disgusted with the lack of attention we received . While waiting for some serviced I witnessed the staff eating in the kitchen while I was thinking I may like a sweet . Such a shame as I love the atmosphere but feel very deflated .

I visited this morning for breakfast. We arrived for opening and the restaurant was empty. We were not greeted by staff. We seated ourselves. I asked for a high chair, one arrived in silence along with the condiments. When I ordered, i asked for both meals without mushrooms. I didn’t state that I was allergic to them. Both meals arrived with mushrooms on the plate, when I told the staff I was allergic to them, my plate was taken away and returned less that a minute later with the corner cut off the corner of my hash brown, but obviously the same plate. I obviously couldn’t eat this. I received no apology. I didn’t eat my meal due to my allergy, and after my husband finished asked for my meal to be refunded. I still got no apology, but did receive a refund for my meal. An apology and taking the situation seriously would have gone a long way. The manager and the kitchen seriously need to take allergies seriously. I understand that mushrooms aren’t one of the common allergens, but that doesn’t preclude other allergens. My husband also reported the breakfast was fine, with stale bread. disappointing to have to go to the bar to order, receive an average breakfast, for the price.

This is the second time I've been to Il Rosso and the food is outstanding and the atmosphere is comfortable. I have given one star tonight. We attended as a group of 16 for our colleagues leaving do. All meals were wonderful and service good until desserts came out. My colleague had a medium length hair entwined in her cheesecake. When we told the waitress she didnt seem surpried and took the plate away. She did offer a replacement but my friend was understandably put off. The reason I'm taking time to leave a negative review is because at no point did they come back to apologise for such a disgusting addition to her plate. In such an established restaurant I would expect a gesture like offering a voucher for another meal or a bottle of wine. This would promote the business and guarantee customer satisfaction and loyalty. The fact that you do not appear to check and respond to negative reviews shows that you're not bothered. I will not be returning. I will continue to support other local italian family restaurants that go above and beyond to meet and exceed customer satisfaction. A real shame!

The service was good but when our food arrived my friends meal was cod wrapped in bacon . She had asked for it without the bacon because she’s vegetarian. However the waitress returned it but brought it back saying it wasn’t bacon ?? So my friend removed it herself !. If you’re looking for a relaxed evening don’t go on a Saturday evening.

Not been here in a while as having read some reviews the service seemed to be getting not the best ratings. We should not have been concerned as this from the moment we arrived to a very busy bar was no problem. We arrived early & easily got served at the busy bar. When we went through to the restaurant we were seated straight away. Drink’s order & menus sorted by a really cheerful waitress. Starters came reasonably fast ( 1 x mussels & 1 x pate ) they were delicious . Finished & empty plates swiftly removed with another drink order taken by the same waitress. Drinks back in minutes with our Mains following shortly ( 2 x Smoked Haddock Risotto ) . The Mains were absolutely stunning with a generous portion & cooked to perfection. I also Squeezed in a 7inch Garlic & cheese pizza as a side which was also amazing too. We both had an amazing evening Beautiful Food , Fabulous Service & a really good atmosphere. Highly recommend & we will definitely not leave it so long until we return . Thanks to all. Richard & Tracy 🥰

Food was absolutely amazing and the price was great - but the service didn't match. We were stood for a while waiting to be seated even though it wasn't that busy. Then it took us ages to have staff members come to us and it felt like there was no communication between staff. Like I said, everyone was nice but it felt like people were avoiding our table. We were ready to order dessert (as the food was so good) but we're waiting 20 mins for someone to take our orders. We ended up just going to the till, paying and leaving. Even paying, we had multiple staff members just walk past us and we had to basically beg to pay. With the service not being great, the 9% service charge felt really cheeky. As good as the food was, we're not sure if we'd go back.

Been twice in a month with my wife son and his partner . Cant fault the food but shocked to say recieved a parking ticket whilst in there on the first occasion and my son recieved on after our visit on xmas eve. Safe to say after spending over £500 in 2 visits i definately will not be returning.after speaking to staff regarding these issues today i was told theres signage and its on the menus that u have to register your car...clearly there not working cos we didnt see it . Maybe you should get staff to tell customers i asked ...why when theres signs was the reply. Wow ....i have eaten out close to a thousand times in my paltry 50 years and never had to by a parking ticket or register my vehicle for 1 ...on 2 occasions i had to get a code to get out of a car park and thats it .

I ordered the steak rib and there was glass in the meal: I did actually chew the glass. My meal was taken off of the ticket but I do feel they could have done more. I ordered a bowl of chips which took around 20 minutes to come out and my partner had finished his meal. They were a little blasé about the whole situation. I didn’t want to kick up a fuss as the waitresses are all young and helpful, I didn’t want to take it out on them. You? The late was lovely, but we won’t be back.

Came on 5pm for Valentines Day meal and the resteraunt was fairly empty. The place looked nice but was disappointed by the lack of valentines decor or theme. After about 10 mins we were shown to our table. We waited for about 20 mins before we were asked for a drink order by which time we had perused the menu and decided on food, when i asked to order food as well the waitress was taken aback and seemed unsure as to why we was ready so soon. We had finished our starters which were exquisite i had scallops and my other half the soup. We were waiting about 15 mins for our main but when the waitress (different one) brought them to us the starter plates hadn’t been removed, which resulted in a confused double act of taking away old plates and putting down our starter. The main was out of this world we both had the wrapped chicken. After we had finished the waitress (a 3rd different one) asked if we wanted a dessert when we advised we had ordered one she seemed confused and started questioning if we had ordered everything off of the valentines menu. All in all we were both a bit disappointed both in the lack of themed decor (which was surprising after seeing photos online of other local resteraunts going all out.Also the confusion amongst the staff let the night down, there clearly had been no communication between the staff which made the whole experience underwhelming. Which is a shame as the food is some of the best we have ever tasted.

Let down by attitude of bar staff. Everyone else had a smile and warm welcome. Food was really nice and staff here were welcoming. Bar staff made you feel like there was something better they could be doing rather than serving you and this isn't the first time we have been made to feel this way.

Absolutely shocking don’t recommend I went to this place with some friends and family the decor is nice and got a nice feel to it but the staff and not welcoming at all we wait ages for the drinks to come and when they did we was expecting the staff member to take our food order but she didn’t and when I tried to say we are ready to order she just walk off and completely ignored me, when we finally got to order btw (50 minutes in) the food came and all I’ve got to say is not worth the wait !!! Will not be returning that’s for sure

I have visited Ill Rosso for many years and always loved the food here. It's very high end and delicious but also quite pricey if you are on a budget. (Roast beef dinner £19.95) It is totally worth the price as it is divine food. The negatives though that I have noticed the last couple of visits were the lack of friendly service. Yesterday (Sunday 28th January) I was served by a very abrupt/ rude young blonde girl who seemed like I was bothering her when asking for sauce to acompany my lunch. Quite bad mannered and abrupt the way she responded several times to us as a party while visiting. She then proceeded to slam and bang furniture around behind me while eating my meal. The final grumble was the service charge! I'm not a skint flint but I genuinely hate places that do this! A very friendly and polite blonde lady took our payment and was very cheerful in doing so. I wanted to request the removal of the service charge as we actually didn't recieve any service at all ( I fetched our own drinks from the bar). Overall lovely food if you aren't on a budget but SHOCKING service. Nice pub though.

also a regular at The Red and aMellaYellow back in the day, so a pretty loyal customer from 2002 and had my wedding reception in 2004 I visited with my partner on Xmas eve and tried to enter our registration into the car park register but was told it was not working, then last Thursday got a parking fine. We were actually visiting that day for a meal so mentioned it to a young lady at the bar, email all the details to our manager and she will sort. We then proceeded to have a wonderful meal and spent roughly £90 so not a small amount We sent said email last Thursday evening and by Monday no reply so I called this morning and oh my god, the attitude of Georgia was appalling and her Manager Nicola was worse. Absolutely shocking Not interested and incredibly rude and then emailed my partner complaining I was aggressive Luckily I recorded the conversation on my work phone What a way to treat loyal customers

Our Sunday lunch arrived with no roast potatoes. Which they did eventually bring. The cauliflower with cheese sauce was stone cold and cauliflower hard and raw. Which was replaced with a hotter version but cauliflower still hard and raw. Not value for money not satisfied at all and doubt if we shall visit again. As last time the food cold and the service was terrible. So don’t think a third visit will improve things.

Can I just say this is the first time I have ever written a bad review but unfortunately with the circumstances I believe this is only appropriate. I came for Breakfast with my friend, the Breakfast arrived cold and my friends order was wrong, we had been waiting for our drinks for over 20 minutes which had clearly been forgotten about. We gave them a gentle reminder and they didn’t arrive until after we had eaten. Anyway, we didn’t kick up a fuss as I appreciate they were busy so we left unsatisfied and I thought that was it. 2 months later I receive a parking fine for £75 through the post, I tried calling and the lady & explained there must have been a mistake, she told me to email with all the details to get this resolved. I was seen on CCTV (as seen on the fine) Parking at the exact same times on the reservation, (which I could prove as I still had the email booking) & I put my number plate in as requested at the bar, it was down to them to check the CCTV for this inside the building. The staff were extremely unhelpful, I only had one response on email, the rest were ignored and I had no choice but to pay it. This is absolutely appalling and I have never been treated so badly as a guest at a restaurant. I had to pay £75 for parking in their own car park at the exact times of my reservation and I could even prove it. It was either 1 digit that was wrong on the iPad, or the iPad was faulty and it didn’t submit. It’s upsetting as the place has a lot of potential but unfortunately it’s just gone down hill and I won’t be going back now.

It is a good place, it can be a bit hit and miss on how busy it is. The drink selection is good with plenty of nice beers. The food is OK, sometimes it can be really good others a little uninspiring. Good number of chairs and tables and they have a great bit at the back called the Terrace that give a lot more space. They have also taken some of the car park at the back away to create an outdoor area that works well.
