1st time here? Amelia our waitress was absolutely brilliant, we received a warm welcome, and the food was to die for, every single thing we are was absolutely delicious and the house salad dressing was very tasty 😋 We love that the car parking is only for fingers and you enter your reg no. The price was good, Amelia was very professional and was very knowledgeable on the dishes we were choosing. Top class restaurant and we will definitely be back with friends next time. The Johnson's.

Food was lovely, we were a large group and all the food was hot and served timely. The staff on were so lovely but this was the second time I've been where there was a deposit issue where the deposit wasn't removed from the bill!! The person did eventually sort it out but it's the fact it's happened twice to me.

Had a good time here, was was great. The biggest problem is there car parking system, my advice do not park in their car park at all even if disabled. I took photos of the car, the reg on their machine, sent evidence that we were there, paid by cash so never use cash here. We submit to the email address the restaurant gave us, you here nothing, rang debt collector and they said it's been declined and had to pay £170. Lesson learnt feels like a scam.

£100 parking fine during a legitimate visit, turned a family birthday meal into a very expensive and unpleasant experience with the parking operator. Appealed, provided evidence of payment, but got nowhere, so have not returned since. Disappointing as I thoroughly enjoyed prior visits to the venue with the family. But all I think of now is the parking company waiting to empty my pocket.

I went here with my Fiancé Vic as we were celebrating her getting her granddad's pocket watch in his will. Vic had a pizza and I had a steak, we both thoroughly enjoyed the food. On a scale from Bobbi Davro to Bob Monkhouse we both rated it a Russ Abbot. The £10 spegals looked appetising so we may try them next time. All in all a lovely meal with lovely company. Would recommend

The reason for the 3 star overall rating is down to a couple of reasons. The first is the fact that they apply a service charge to every bill. I appreciate this goes to the staff, but it is down to the owner to pay their wages, not customers! I don't mind tipping if I have had a full 3 course meal and both the service and food is good, but how much should be at the customers discretion and not when I have only had a bacon cob. We are not in America! The second is for Christmas lunch the price was increased which we understand due to cost of food prices, but the menu changed and included items that were obviously very cheap to make for example soup, prawn cocktail with nothing special about either and desserts were rice pudding as an option! As for the Christmas dinner, whilst what we had tasted lovely, they had cut back so you didn't get any stuffing, one carrot, a small amount of mashed potato, and limited vegetables. As stated before, the food is always lovely and the staff, but with the cutbacks on quality, quantity, and the service charges, we don't visit anymore.

Booked a Friday morning breakfast with a friend. I had beans on toast, I asked for only one slice of toast, no butter as Im on a diet but asked for a poached egg extra. Was surprised I was charged £1.50 for the egg. For £6.50 plus £1.50 = £8 for one small slice of toast, a small tub of beans and one egg is too much plus having to pay 10% service charge. If it was more reasonably priced and you got a larger serving Id say Id go more regular but at that price its a luxury. Theres alot of places close by where you get just as good service and venue.

Our local pub! Wonderful food and great selection of drinks. Often bump into friends and have a good time. However, the service (and constant changing of staff) lets this pub down massively. The staff are often talking at the bar and don’t acknowledge you. They don’t give that special touch to customers. Last time we left, I said bye to 3 staff (all stood behind the bar). Not one of them made eye contact or said bye. Really disappointing for such a nice venue.

This is our family’s go to for Sunday brunch. Love it, Usually. Today however my mother in law found obvious green mould on her toast. Very off putting for all of us. …..apart from that and a small order issue, we enjoyed our meals. The supervisor apologised and dealt with a refund for the one breakfast with the bad toast. Pros: staff were friendly and prompt. Meats were great and eggs are amazing. Cons: one order was wrong, and mould on one breakfast.

We arrived , registered car with the parking app and sat in the sun terrace . We waited for table service to be told this wasn’t an option and needed to order at the bar . Which we did . The meal arrived and was semi warm . Unfortunately no one did a table check so we were unable to get anyone’s attention . We did notice however another table were allowed table service. After the meal we approached the bar to update on the poor food and customer service . The bar staff were very dismissive. Due to pre paying prior to our food we had no recourse for any refund or complaint. We usually have good experience at il Rosso not sure what’s happened today

Food is always good, but service can be pretty slow, especially when busy. Restaurant area at the side of the bar can get noisy, but the back room is quieter. Can't understand why people get parking tickets, signs all over the car park, notes on every menu, tablet on the bar with a notice on it, and 2 members of staff asked if we knew to register car reg. Downside to car park is it's way too small, struggle to find a space when busy

Extremely poor service twice in a row. With a friend last year (and I thought it was possibly a one-off) and on Sunday. Both times, long wait for poor quality food, staff that ignored us and behaved as if they couldn’t be bothered. I took my boys there for Mother’s Day as a change-we usually go to Ciao Bella. We were sat at quite a visible table because it was right in front of the kitchen entrance. We had to wait 15 minutes to get our orders taken despite the fact that the staff were walking up and down right in front of us, most often empty-handed and seemingly without purpose although I get that might not have been the case. Eventually, the staff member that seated us took our order. I ordered a starter and main and my boys a 12” pizza each. I asked for the starter to come with the pizzas because my children were already famished partly due to the wait. Food came, pizza crusts rather burnt and likewise one of my slices of bread for the pate, which was actually tasteless, surprisingly. The slice of bread was changed and we carried on eating. Finished my starter and sat there waiting. My boys finished their pizzas and I still sat there waiting, with this member of staff failing to make an appearance to clear our dishes and produce my main. Finally, another staff came to clear the table and I told her i was still waiting for my main, this was now almost an hour since we were seated. From that point, things are a bit of a blur because it went from bad to worse, with another staff asking me if she could clear my starter dishes which were obviously finished with. Anyway, I asked for the manager at this point, lo and behold it was the staff that seated us, and I assume, solely responsible for our table. I told her I didn’t get my main to which, instead of being mortified and apologetic, she was asking me irrelevant questions so I told her not to ask me silly questions to which she replied that she didn’t come to work to be ‘spoken to like that’. I replied that she should be doing a much better job then. To compound issues, a table was seated after us, and the table consistently got served before us. The restaurant had also become much quieter by then, so I can’t even afford them that excuse. Anyway, I asked for the bill because it was already an hour of our arrival by this time and I was given a bill which included the main that never materialised and even after that was taken off, it was still astronomical -£64 for two pizzas, a pate starter and two drinks-soft and mojito. Just shocking all-round. When you go to Ciao and other well-run restaurants in Mansfield, as soon as you’re seated, staff will ask you at every 2-3 minutes interval if you’re ready to order, and service is usually quite good. Il Rosso would do well to borrow a leaf.

The food was actually very nice, but the service was shockingly bad. There was a long wait between courses, and at no point did anyone check in on us. The table wasn’t cleared, no one asked if the food was OK, and we weren’t offered any more drinks. We eventually took our empty glasses back to the bar ourselves—where we counted 13 staff behind it. Plenty of staff around, but they all seemed busy doing nothing of any use. There was more focus on setting empty tables than serving the customers already there.

To say am disappointed is an understatement! It was my friends mams 90 th birthday , on the 19th March. I live in Durham . Wanted to do something special , as a couldn’t be with her on the day . Very happy occasion. She was taking her mum for birthday breakfast . On 19th March . So to make it special for her. I rang ll rosso a spoke to a lady called Nicola . Asked if a could have vouchers , flowers & 90 Ballon on the table . She said leave it with me!!! Would a have to ring up day before just to make sure it would be all sorted. No , al have it all looking lovely for her , when they arrive . So a phoned my friend on the day , to see if they had taken any pics. . She said there was nothing on the table! So she paid for there breakfast , bearing in mind a had ordered the vouchers for that reason. So friend mentioned she thought we had vouchers for the table. Oh am sorry , we’ve had problems with the tills . A had already paid for voucher , so we didn’t need the till!!! A n wouldn’t you have thought the flowers & Baloon would have already been ordered. ! It’s obvious that they had forgotten altogether. My friend said they weren’t busy anyway. Bad management. Spoilt our day . But just for anyone else wanting somthing special organising for Birthday etc. best off making other arrangements if you don’t want to be totally devastated like me.

As vegetarians it's hard to eat out but I would 100% recommend the vegetarian sausage Sunday dinner! It's the best around ❤️ Mushroom crostini is delicious as a starter. The drinks are really nice especially the lemon spritz cocktail and white wine 🍷 I would say the dessert menu would be better if it had old fashioned style desserts such as treacle sponge and custard, crumbles etc but other than that a lovely dining experience.

Il Rosso was the perfect venue for our family and friends to come together, as we celebrated the life of our late mum here after her funeral yesterday. The beautiful Terrace area reserved for us, easily accommodated the 75 or so people that attended with plentiful food and teas and coffee and a screen showing photographs of our wonderful mum. We are very grateful to Nicola and the team at Il Rosso for making a very difficult day a little easier. Thank you.

At 7am this morning we decided to go out for food, booked online and were seated by 10am. The car park here can sometimes by tricky but today we drove straight in to a space. The scrambled eggs here are so delicious, soooo creamy. Very fast and pleasant service. Really enjoyed breakfast!

I was really pleasantly surprised when I found such a quality restaurant-pub in this small town. This is a good level of establishment for such a place and especially the employees really showed a pleasant level of service. We did not book a table in advance, which does not correspond to their rules, but the restaurant still found a free and cozy place for us. For which we were grateful to them. Also the steak exceeded all expectations. This steak was truly delicious and fantastic in combination with salad and sauce for this meat. The impressions were only positive. I recommend

Absolute shocking experience. A 60th birthday celebration turned into an absolute disaster , the service and the horrible food ruined what should have been a celebration. Cold starters,with one completely left off the order. What restaurant sends cooked food out without checking the food is legally required to be sent out to the customer. It's not as if they didn't have time.it took 45 minutes to arrive. An hour later , the main meals turned out, and six out of the nine meals were cold again. It's better for the table across the way . They had their starters,mains , and desert, enjoying their coffee, while we sat 20mtrs away,with what can only be described has food fit for the bin. If you're going, be warned, either pre book your food or face a horrible experience . Needless to say, I'll not be going ever again.

I have only recently discovered this lovely place. The food is beautiful, the servers are friendly and helpful, and so patient, when we were chatting so much before choosing our order. I have been here twice, both times sitting and staying for over three hours without being made to feel like it was time to leave and had a wonderful time catching up with friends. This is my new favourite place to escape to while enjoying a good catch up with friends. I cannot recommend them enough. Thank you Il Rosso!

Our meal with family was not an enjoyable experience. We decided to have a drink at the bar ahead of taking our table, but the wait to be served was extensive, despite the fact that the bar and restaurant weren't busy. There appeared to be no dedicated bar staff, and those who walked behind the bar gave us no eyecontact before disappearing, leaving the bar unattended. When a lady, Nicola, came to serve, I allowed another waiting customer to order meals first. After serving the lady, Nicola turned and left the bar to deliver something to the kitchen. She then appeared, and took food to one of the tables. A "sorry to keep you, I won't be a minute " would have been appreciated, as opposed to leaving us standing there without a word. When we were shown to our table, the area was cold, and made worse by the cold air conditioning. We decided to change tables, as it was warmer nearer to the bar, and ordered two soft drinks and food. After 20 minutes waiting, we enquired where the drinks were, as the bar wasn't busy, and they were then provided. Our food was fine, and the bill included the £5 service charge. In summary, the food was ok, but the customer service is severely lacking. There were insufficient staff, and those we encountered looked unhappy and in no way welcoming to customers. As no-one asked us about our experience, we were unable to provide feedback on the day.

4 adults and 2 kids (10 and 7). Beautiful mushroom starter for 3 of us and mussels for 1. Curry as a main was lovely and wide had the chicken dinner and overall excellent. My son had the scampi and he really enjoyed it but my other had the tapas and ended up leaving it. I wasn't happy with him....until I tried it! Lollipop chicken...tasteless, and the ribs were aweful and cheap meat. Father in law tried one and had to spit it out. Very disappointed. Especially considering the cost and 9% service charge. Won't go again.

The food was lovely but best of all was Lukas who looked after us. We needed to change tables as the room we were in was noisy and a member of our party could not tolerate it. Lukas found us a table in a quiet area. He was most attentive throughout and changed what could have been a disastrous experience into a relaxed enjoyable atmosphere. Thank you Lukas!

Used to be a regular at Ill Rosso, used to feel really special and always had a nice experience! Last night though, upon entering met with queues at the bar which reminded me of a ‘Saturday night, down town’ and possibly the rudest staff I have met in a ‘hospitality’ environment ( a part from the fabulous waitress Harriett who looked after us during the meal) which was present throughout the night from the bar staff when ordering the drinks to the lady who delivered the food who was very ‘curt’ on several occasions. The positives was the fabulous waitress ‘Harriet’ who looked after us and the food which was delicious.

Visited on Sunday 15th December 2024 at 2pm with family and friends for our annual Christmas lunch get together. Will not be going back after this visit. Food was very mediocre and cold. Son-in-law had to wait about 10mins before his came, we were all eating ours. My husband was ill so paid for a pack out. Wish I hadn't bothered, it was nothing like our meal. He had a dry fishcake, a Sunday dinner with Yorkshire pudding (which was not what I paid for) and a very dry chocolate brownie. My turkey roulade was full of gristle and skin and not nice, so was other people's. No one asked if we were enjoying our meal, which we weren't. The service was dreadful, we were not asked if anyone wanted drinks. When my daughter asked the waitress for drinks, she was quite rude. What is usually a lovely afternoon with family and friends, was spoilt by the way we were treated and the food we were served. We refused the service charge

Had our annual Christmas family meal here yesterday for 14 of us. We had pre booked from the Christmas menu, nothing Christmasy on the table like crackers or table decorations. Most meals came out cold, one meal took over 10 minutes to come out so rest of us nearly finished our meal. Not once did anyone ask how food was, we had to get their attention to ask for drinks, drinks missed off orders a few times. When asked for the missed drinks, got a rude attitude from waitress. Clearly can't cope with high number in party wouldn't recommend!

No veg served with the meals like other restaurants. Absolutely no effort made for a Christmas meal. Cost a lot of money as well. Our only critique was that the way the restaurant is set up it does get quite noisy between the pub and the restaurant itself. It was also really warm when we were there! Really nice pasta and great choice for allergens as well!

I have eaten here many times and have always had the best time however, last night I went again with a group of 12 and the service was absolutely shocking! The table placement for a start was so bizarre, it was blocking a walk way into the seating area so my partner moved his chair as to let people pass and enable the servers to reach his side of the table easier however, the manager demanded he moved back to the other side of the table in a rude manner, he decided to stay sat where he was as to not have to constantly move every time someone walks past. After waiting over an hour for the food (which was delicious) the manager once again continued being rude and unpleasant, at one point physically barging into my chair purposefully! She slammed some vinegar on the table so hard had it been harder it would have smashed. This attitude continued throughout the evening. We then received the bill with an added £45 service charge which we asked to be removed but we were told they couldn’t remove it as they had already started to process the payment, which is nonsense and illegal. Disappointed would be an understatement! No fault of the people in the kitchen as the food was incredible as always, but for sure they need to train the staff better in customer service. Especially the manger.

Il Rosso was the venue for my recent 60th birthday party which was held in the Terrace. The event was a real success and thoroughly enjoyable. Nothing was too much trouble and Nichola was a great help in planning every detail of the event. The buffet was excellent - high quality and plenty to go around the 70 guests. The staff were very obliging. The party went on for a lot longer than planned as everyone was having such a great time. We go to Il Rosso regularly and are always impressed. Mansfield is lucky to have such a great place to socialise and meet friends.

This was our first visit to Il Rosso, a family of 3 celebrating an Anniversary. We ordered 3 courses from the Meat Free Monday menu and we all agreed the food was absolutely divine - compliments to the Chef! We were looked after by two delightful people who were friendly, professional and attentive. The restaurant is very tastefully decorated with a relaxed atmosphere. To sum up, we couldn’t fault anything and we will certainly be visiting again. Would definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for good food at a good price in lovely surroundings 👍

Came for breakfast on Sunday 8th September Poached eggs not cooked enough still clear liquid running through, didn't complain about eggs should had, Hash brown black hair on it, replaced it, staff didn't seem that bothered overall not as I expected, £12.50 for breakfast would if expected better, won't be back.

My Husband and I traveled to Mansfield UK for a family function and we had breakfast at Il Rosso. I had the full Il Rossi Breakfast, #fullenglishbreakfast and it was amazing! I ordered it without the black pudding but it was delicious nonetheless!! The server was great and the she and the bartender oh taught us some proper English slang and how to pronounce the various names of the counties!!! It was a blast meeting y’all and I do hope we go back and see you all again!! I would post a picture of the dish but I can’t figure out how to do that. :-)

Also sent this 4 weeks ago to El Rosso and received no reply! We booked for 20 people for a wake at 3.30pm. The area at the back is lovely and private. The food was great and the kitchen staff were really friendly and helpful. But, some improvement points: 1. Although the bar was not busy not one member of staff came to serve drinks or ask if everything was ok or clear empty glasses 2. We had to ask for food plates to be removed from the table 3. When we ordered drinks at the bar they were put on two trays and no offer to help tp carry the drinks (second round of drinks there was an offer) 4. As one of the hosts I spent a lot of my time ordering drinks and asking staff, time which could have been spent with the guests 5. On booking- there was no option to speak to anyone by telephone and it took a week per email for a response. My Mum even went there in person and was told the manager was not there and no one else could help 6. We paid 190 pounds deposit but when paying the remainder we were told that the deposit had to be refunded and the total amount paid. This is ineffective and doesn’t make sense. Overall I was not satisfied and it is disappointing as it was a very sad occasion for all the guests and these small but basic service tasks should have been in place

Arrived for a meal booked table online and had to pay £10 to secure booking because if you do not attend they will deduct £10. Not a good start but went ahead anyway as heard from people that it is a nice place. When arrived warm atmosphere very busy tap room area, had to enter car reg on iPad for parking. Asked at the bar about reservation signposted to restaurant area. Arrived at restaurant area and greeted by a lady who appeared not very friendly and happy to be there. The restaurant very nice and appeared to have a sophisticated look with leather seats that’s was never wiped down in between use. Guided to table was immediately brought table water over and asked if we were having wine, declined wine glasses removed. Given a few menu , nothing special. Chose the set menu at 2 course £20 had a started of risotto and then chose scampi and chips .. the other choice chicken and mushroom pie, beef curry and a vegetarian dish of falafel. Drinks order at the table 3 x Pepsi max( £5 each ) Food arrived start risotto very nice and then with 20 mins main course scampi and french fries no chips. Over cooked French fries. It was horrible to be honest a sophisticated restaurant with a nice menu and you do not get what you pay for on the menu I was expecting chips not overcooked scrappy french fries. Would not recommend. Waitress staff not very attentive and had to ask to have the plates removed and had to ask for the dessert at least twice for one person in my party. The desert was horrid I don’t know where the cookie was I dernwth the scoop of ice cream. Staff unapproachable and not friendly Wouldn’t recommend However the bill was £75 so that was 3 set. Meals at £20 each and £5 for a drink of pop. Would not recommend. Or go back again every over priced restaurant

The food was very good, and has been the last few times we've visited. The atmosphere is nice and sitting in the Terrace is a pleasant experience. Some staff are friendly but a few are quite unfriendly. Service was slow nearly 30 minutes wait for starter and 30 mins for main course, but the food was worth the wait. They add a 9% tip to the bill which I really didn't like when the service wasn't up to scratch, tips should be down to customer discretion not the restaurant to take anyway.

I am gluten free and have been before and had a good experience so knew there were plenty of decent GF options available. However shortly after ordering the meatball pizza (marked as gf adaptable on the menu) the server returned to inform me that the meatballs themselves contain gluten so they can't make this GF, offering only to make the pizza without meatballs (the main topping) or order something else, but seeming uninformed on the options and not bringing a menu to refer to. While I was able to get a standard meat pizza which was very good, the overall experience was slightly soured.

We recently booked a work function with Il Rosso and although the actual event and day was incredible, it was unfortunately let down on a number of factors. The food and buffet provided to us was incredible and went down an absolute treat, so I fully cannot fault the people working in the kitchen. Additionally, I would also like to add there was a younger gentleman working our event and handing out beverages upon arrival - he was friendly, happy to converse and his service was fantastic. This is the only reason I have given our review two stars and not the one. The entire arrangement of the event was an absolute nightmare from start to finish as all correspondence was predominantly requested via email, but then it was rare that you would receive a response. We did happen to call a few times to probe and even went down to the premises but was completely fobbed off as they were "understaffed and too busy." I have worked in the industry and am very empathetic when it comes to these circumstances; however, it was a Tuesday just after midday and the venue was completely dead. We mentioned on a couple of occasions that the manager (Nicola) actually came across quite rude, abrupt and that although we were providing a lot of money/custom to the business, a lack of care too. Overall, the event was great but was completely let down by poor communication and management. If you're wanting to visit Il Rosso then I'd say that you'd be better having a meal and vacating than arranging any type of function.

Have dined at Il Rosso many times over the years but yesterday's Sunday Lunch was very disappointing. I accept prices have risen recently but that is surely not an excuse for service and quality to diminish. Very slow service, waited an hour and a half for main meal and only served after making protest, and this was in a designated slot of two hours. Food only mediocre compared to previous visits. Up your game please!!

Had breakfast there with my partner and my best friends on 27/07/24 . It was very busy inside so we ordered drinks andsat outside which was lovely. However 2 breakfasts came out and we waited for several minutes without cutlery, the other 2 breakfasts and the drinks. The waitress came out with her arms loaded with the other breakfasts and cutlery, napkins and sauces.The drinks followed shortly after. Breakfast was lovely, well cooked and plenty. I think more staff was needed on that particular day.

Yesterday, I went with my mom, who is in a wheelchair, for lunch about 1pm. I have never before been made to feel so unwelcome when going out for lunch. Firstly all the low tables in the bar area had 'reserved' on them so we couldn't sit at any of them. All the other tables are high bar stools, so no good if you are in a wheelchair. So, the next option is to go up a step to the main restaurant area. I managed this, with difficulty, finally got my mom's wheelchair into a table only to be told by a member of staff 'you can't sit there'. I explained all the lower bar tables have 'reserved' on them, this table does not. She replied ' someone has requested this table' 'you can sit in the corner over there' The young woman was pointing to a table that I was never going to get my mom's wheelchair near to. I was so upset at this point that I said 'forget it we are leaving' which I think suited il Rosso just fine. They were so unhelpful. That was the first time I had ever been and it will be the last. Disability discrimination all over. Rude and offensive. Very sad from a place I had been wanting to take my mom for ages 😔

Came for my partners birthday meal, just the two of us, went to order drinks as we were a little early, bar staff looked so unhappy and very, very slow. moved onto our meal, ordered another drink, our food came before out drinks did, we'd finished our meal! Restaurant was very quiet, lots of staff just stood talking, my partner had to wave down the waitress to clear out plates, eventually our drinks turned up, again had to wave down for the bill.. The only thing that saved this from being a 0* rating was the food... It was absolutely amazing so well done chefs!!

Just returned from a family meal . I must say the food was lovely, very tasty ,hot and well presented. However the service was shocking. Only 3 tables in the restaurant so not busy and plenty of waiting staff pottering around. After we finished our main it took a while for our table to cleared and after that nothing ! Never asked if we wanted any more drinks or a dessert. After 20-30 minutes we asked for the bill and left . Out with my elderly mother for her birthday and didn’t want to say anything but disgusted with the lack of attention we received . While waiting for some serviced I witnessed the staff eating in the kitchen while I was thinking I may like a sweet . Such a shame as I love the atmosphere but feel very deflated .

Started coming to this pub quite regularly. The staff are very friendly and there’s always a lovely atmosphere. The Katsu chicken is my favourite item on the menu with a side of onion rings. I was served by Brad today and he gave excellent service and always recommends the best dishes on the menu. Would 100% recommend for any occasion!

I didn't try the food, as I only popped in for a quick pint. I'm not much of a pub drinker, but this seemed like a nice boozer. Well laid out and the lady who served me was very pleasant. Just what you'd expect from any good barmaid, (if that's not an outdated, sexist term these days 😕). When I visited, the place was very quiet. Admittedly, it was like, 3pm on a Wednesday afternoon, hardly peak hours, but even so, it felt like the place had a nice 'vibe' overall. This is a nice pub and I intend to visit again. Hopefully, there will be more women in there next time! 🤭 Recommended. 👍
