A very busy but pleasant place to have food and watch live entertainment

I don't complain easily but what a let down. Food was bloody awful bar the Nachos. Staff very apologetic, not their fault but please go somewhere else for dinner. It was really bad and they weren't even busy.

I absolutely love this venue. Perfect capacity for live acts. Acoustically superb, with seating and standing options available, however never overcrowded so you have space to move about and dance if you want to. I love Nya King and will go to see her whenever I can, especially at canvas, it is a faultless performance and she never fails to deliver a cracking set. We were seated, so had table service, the staff are so friendly and patient. The pizza and cocktails are amazing too! Damien and his team are incredibly organised, friendly and helpful. They are an absolute credit to the company. I'd highly recommend a visit. Thank you for a wonderful evening

Went here with my family last week after not being in a long time since pre-covid. Unfortunately we were let down on mainly the service. Starting with the atmosphere, the lay-out and look of the restaurant is quite kept up and lovely, unfortunately the natives were out during our time as around 2-4 kids were screaming their heads off while the family didn't seam to bother which made it difficult to talk to a family member who is already slightly deaf. Another negative was the service, though all the staff were very kind and said they will come to us for our drinks first before ordering food, it did take a little while before our drink order was taken. We were informed that food would be at least a 40 minute wait due to the restaurant being busy but unfortunately we ended up waiting nearly 1hr 45 minutes before the service of our food arrived, to which beforehand we got informed 10 minutes after that our food had begun dishing out. The positive aspect would be the food when we finally got it. Both my parents and myself did get our food which was enjoyable. My dad had a big portion of Sausage, Mash, peas with three giant onion rings with Gravy poured around it. My mum had a wrap with a portion of salad, which was full and tasty. I myself being a picky eater stuck with a pizza which was tasty, by only gripe with it was it felt a bit more cheesy which made it feel heavy. It did come with a portion of fries, and they were so tasty! I normally don't pick fries in case they're more chunky chips but these were just right, tasty and full of flavour! Only thing food/drink wise that bothered me was the coke, it was loaded with ice and tasted more soda-water then coke. Overall 3/5 - If we come again during a less busy period in the future we'll see a higher review. We did pay in full for our drinks and food and polite to the staff after our long wait time.

Andwhynot and canvas. it it one of the best places to go, you always feel safe, and well look after, somewhere you could go on your own and feel safe, and they got a beautiful beer garden, it made you feel like your on holiday 🏖☀️love that place 👍👏👏👏❤️

Booked in for a family meal for seven of us ,, lovely clean bar , felt really comfy nice seating areas , was taken to our table where we ordered our drinks which came really fast then ordered our food adults all had Sunday dinner and the kids had chicken fries and beans ,,, all the food was absolutely gorgeous the beef , pork and turkey dinners were the best we’ve had anywhere for a long long time, the veg potatoes and gravy were all proper no frozen stuff and all really tasty and seasoned beautifully, good price and friendly staff and nice modern bar with good music couldn’t fault it at all 👍

Fantastic venue, pizza was excellent

We went here for a late lunch. The entrance is wheelchair and buggy accessible. You have the choice of sitting in the bar area or restaurant. We sat in the restaurant area, which is very cosy and comfortable. They serve a variety of drinks, alcohol and non-alcoholic. The menu has a good selection of meals, including lighter options. With the opportunity to have a three course meal, should you be able to manage it. For those who enjoy a good pie, i highly recommend the steak and ale pie. It was packed full of tender meat in a beautiful melt in your mouth pastry. The portion sizes are ample as we were full and left some. Very satisfying meal. The prices reflect the excellent quality of food. The staff are all extremely friendly and professional. Service was extremely good from the moment we arrived until we left. Well worth going. The only issue is that parking is a short walk away. People with limited mobility will need to consider their options. There was no play area visible for children. I would say this is more appropriate for adults than families with young children.

We've been here to eat before but it just gets better. The service is outstanding and very personalised. The staff are upbeat and seem to genuinely care. We were served by Casey and Clara who couldn't do enough. The food we had was outstanding (there were 5 of us who all said the same) Every opportunity to make things perfect has been considered even the furniture and decor. Thank you.

Wow, I don't know what's better, the services,the beer or the food. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to go for a nice meal The steak was absolutely amazing, I'd go as far as saying its the best steak I've had in a long time. The staff can't do enough for you, always asking if there is anything they can do for you. 10/10

To say only table in restaurant the service was slow, not attentive, had to ask for more drinks, no one checked food was OK. But food was delicious regardless. And least weren't rushed

Had one of the best roast beef dinners I’ve ever had in a restaurant. The beef was pink and very tender. So much food! Glad we didn’t have a starter! Fantastic food and fantastic service. Will definitely be returning

A must visit and an honest review from a regular customer! Upon arrival (at 6pm) Jess gave us the warmest of welcomes and seated us in the bar area prior to our dinner reservation at 7pm. The cocktail menu was handed to and explained to us. Charlotte was just as welcoming and promptly visited our table and took our cocktail order. The atmosphere was (as always) fantastic. A chilled vibe with music playing. My friend and I were still able to have a conversation and hear one another. Once in the restaurant Clara and Abigail waited on our table. The food order was taken and recommendations given for the Piri Piri chicken flatbread (will absolutely have this again when we go). Attentive service was provided for ordering drinks too and our tables were cleared in a timely manner. This isn’t my first visit by any means. It’s a go to for myself and my family; Birthday’s, Anniversaries, Sunday lunch, Bottomless Brunch and girlie catch ups. Children are welcome and it’s a firm favourite with both of our boys. I’ve given a review today as sometimes we take these little gems for granted in our local community and rarely do they get the recognition they actually deserve from doing what they do brilliantly day in day out. My husband and I wanted someone to go for a bite to eat after finishing work n a Friday. What better place to go than And Why Not. Plenty of choice from either burger, steak or burger. I opted for the chicken pops started - which were amazing! Can recommend! Followed by the chicken & chorizo linguine which was delicious - it came with garlic bread however I was too full to eat it. Staff were excellent as always, very polite and courteous; Charlotte, Casey, Aisha & Clara. For anyone looking for a place to dine I can recommend AWN 100%!

I booked for 23 of us as a surprise for my husband's 40th birthday. The team were so friendly and helpful with everything and the service on the night was fabulous! Everyone commented on the lovely food and Clara and the team looked after us really well! We did a pre-order due to it being a big group and everything came out correct, hot and most importantly, tasty! I genuinely cannot fault anything. Another great thing is that afterwards, we could literally just walk through to the bar area and continue the night with great drinks and tunes. Visited for a birthday celebration and couldn’t fault our experience. Food was excellent and couldn’t fault the service. All staff welcoming and nothing too much trouble. Would definitely recommend and wouldn’t hesitate in returning.

We have been to andwhynot on a few occasions in the last couple of months and I can honestly say it is one of the best venues in Mansfield for a really nice meal. Most recently we visited for Sunday lunch and were served by Clara and the team. All the staff are really friendly and attentive. We ordered three of the duo meat combos and the other person in our party ordered the vegan pie and we can all confirm the food was delicious. On previous occasions I have ordered the trays and burgers which are just awesome! I’m never disappointed by the food here and I always leave very happy. The venue itself is very nice, clean and inviting. It has a steampunk element to it, and it looks quirky, but homely. Personally, I would prefer the music to be a little bit louder in the main dining room as when it does get busy, you can hear a lot of people talking over one another, so the music being a little bit louder would help drown that noise out, but that’s just personal preference. It’s a really nice atmosphere, and I would recommend this venue to anyone for sure. Thank you team andwhynot for never letting us down!

Absolutely one if the best nights we had the food was amazing loved we can get a meal in the restaurant then upstairs to the entertainment which was excellent atmosphere fun lively and the staff and managers were extremely attentive loved we didn’t have to keep going up to the bar we had amazing table service which was great the tribute acts are fantastic and really add to the experience for a great night/afternoon highly recommend I’m going again in two weeks for my friends birthday they never been before I’m so excited back to the 80’s for Span du thank you

I’m wondering if there has been a change of chef because the quality has gone down. Cold mushroom starter with soggy bread and flavourless sauce the consistency of condensed soup. I had to order twice and over charged for an extra main, but I was told the manager was too busy to sort this when I called. Second year I’ve been over charged, so I won’t be returning. It’s a shame because I used to love this place.

Just been for Mother’s Day paid for my daughter, a great disappointment, had to ask to order drinks , the starters of mushrooms was cold and of a poor standard (which we relayed to the waitress) asked that the mains were served hot came warm but accepted obviously our comments hadn’t been taken on board. Paid the bill on returning home found my daughter had been charged for 4 main meals when only three people had eaten. Rang the restaurant to complain and get a refund for the overcharge, manager too busy to correct THEIR mistake. What a joke I can’t believe he can’t be bothered not as if he is serving meals he obviously doesn’t care that his staff make such bad errors he obviously hopes that people do not notice and just pay the bill. This is not the first time this has happened been overcharged and had to go back in person to get rectified as the manager cannot be bothered to do this over the phone and he was not embarrassed at all when told this was the second time of happening. CHECK YOU BILL !!!!!

I love the Sunday lunch here. It’s one of the best place for a Sunday lunch in Mansfield or in fact the uk. So a bit extreme, but it’s a must try.

What a fabulous evening. We didn’t want to miss out on this fillet steak offer and it was everything it promised and more. We went early evening - thank goodness, it was busy by the time we left - and was made to feel welcome the minute we walked through the door and all evening thereafter. The steaks were sublime with a whole garlic, mushroom or salad, choice of fries or chips. Everything perfectly fresh and extremely tasty. All washed down with a full bodied Malbec. It was that good I forgot to propose on leap year day 😂. Thank you to the Chef, Clara, Emily, Jesse and everyone. Another lovely evening in our favourite place.

Sunday lunch amazing, the beef simply melted ….. Wouldn’t knock a star off because of this, BUT there’s one thing that happened that some people (who like to give bad reviews) would have picked up on and deducted the stars….. We had a table of 12 (in the bar area) the girl server brought the meals out ALL on her own, and on occasion one plate at a time…. My meal came out first (and you simply don’t start until All the meals come out….. 4 bar staff just stood behind the bar chatting while my food was stone cold before they all came out SLOWLY… Then you wait for the veg, then after 3 times of asking mint sauce etc…. Had to ask her to microwave mine to warm it up…. Others put up with it but not good….. It’s a pet hate of mine to see so many staff not ‘dig in’ when the food is ready to bring out to a large table….. Other than that its 5 stars…. The food is amazing……. Sorry to mention the service but if it doesn’t get mentioned many a customer just wouldn’t return…… All the best… G…

Food was fantastic. Our party of 10 all enjoyed the food. All cleared our plates. I'd ask for boiled new potatoes with my sirloin and salad. It's all came out beautifully. Nothing was too much trouble.

Omg this is hands down the BEST breakfast we've had. Even the butter was amazing. We both had a "big breakfast" and it was certainly that. “Ball bag” tomatoes were lovely - not too much juice, just right 😂 Food was such good quality, cooked lovely, service was fab & the music was great too. Hands down worth every penny & the best brekkie in our local area.

Wow, beyond my expectation. I walked in and from the first moment, the staff were very helpful. I was looking for somewhere to park they have parking at the rear. When I entered the place it was so much nicer inside, not what I expected. Much nicer, very busy, but Clara, the manager, still found me a table. I ordered a pork and crackling Sunday roast it was truly the best roast I've ever been served, perfectly cooked and so much on the large plate. I ordered the dessert to go as I didn't have room right there. Compliments to the chef. I Highly recommended "And why not" absolutely awesome thank you

Had a great time at bottomless brunch. Food was amazing, service was really good, only mild criticism was those whose first drinks were cocktails,lost 15 minutes of drinking time whilst being made. It would have been an idea to take the drink orders before we were seated, so they were ready for when we sat down. Highly recommend.x

e were there for an early dinner (5.30pm) and reserved a table in the bar as we had our dog with us. There were a few small hiccups with initial service (spilled beer, a look of confusion and an admission that it was her first time serving) but we ordered drinks and then food. Nobody came back to check for quite some time so I went a fetched my own second drink. No problem. I had the lamb flatbread which was really tasty and my wife had the fish and chips which was also good. However I also ordered skin on fries - they were burned and bitter - most were crispy and either black or dark brown. But the worst was yet to come. We waited for our plates to be taken so we could have another drink and order desert. We waited… and we waited… and we waited. We watched our waitress standing behind the bar chatting to the other staff for about five minutes but she never came anywhere near our table. Eventually we went to the bar and asked if someone would come and take our order and clear the plates. A member of the bar staff apologised and came to clear up. She asked one of the waiting staff to bring desert menus which they did. Then we waited… and waited and waited until after twenty minutes we gave up and paid at the bar. I told the same member of staff that we’d given up and she apologised and said she’d tried to get someone to help us. The couple on the table next to us were forced to go to the bar and ask someone to come and take their order so we weren’t alone. I’ve got to say this was the worst service I’ve ever had at any restaurant or pub. It’s disappointing because we’ve been loyal customers for some time. It’s expensive to eat out and when you do you expect to be served properly and with respect. We got neither so I won’t be going back.
