Sir John Cockle in Mansfield

The people I get served by every time I go are gage and amber. They are really friendly and amazing bar staff, everyone from other customers to staff are amazing and friendly it’s such a good place to go and have a few pints. Would definitely recommend to locals or even people visiting Mansfield. 10/10.

Great place for food and drinks

Staff wasn’t very nice the food all came out wrong and when we complained the staff was pretty rude so cold food not cooked properly with rude staff is not acceptable as a paying customer

Ordered for 4 people I had surf and turf it must be the worst meal I've had the steak was really tuff and wasn't given a steak knife and none of the staff came over to ask if everything was alright . My daughter had the kebab on the flatbread which was like concrete. The portions were small when we finished we had to go over to the Barracuda chip shop over the road for extra food. I wouldn't recommend anybody going here for food. On a positive note the pub is good for going there just for a pint.

It's a small pub, but the food is excellent!!! Very friendly staff, lots of parking.

Lovely Christmas evening meal with family. Great, friendly service, food cannot be faulted. Would highly recommend. We often nip in for a visit and meal on a regular basis.

Good Draught beers nice locals. Great atmosphere. And even comfortable outside. Honestly my biggest gripe is the place is too nice to appreciate properly 😂

Absolutely diabolical, we visited for breakfast with Santa, and it was an absolute shambles. NEVER AGAIN!! We arrived unaware of what was for breakfast, as the poster just stated breakfast with Santa,(breakfast is a wide range of things). When we asked for a menu we were told it's a small breakfast, no other choices! No dietary requirements considered! When we asked for ingredients a list wasn't available causing our son to have an allergic reaction, as the young girl working on her own must of passed the children a breakfast whilst I was speaking to a female manager. Kids are going to pick at foods, when they are placed Infront of them, as they are unaware of dangers of ingredients! Yes some of the food was eaten as they are kids however the food was awful and most was left and some untouched! But still refused a refund, the children didn't even get to see Santa, as we left due to terrible customer service, unorganised event and putting my child in harm! Disgusting! Hot drinks machine not working either yet it was a breakfast, and when someone else asked if hot drinks could be brought in as they wanted a coffee with their breakfast this was also refused. We ended up going back, due to the allergic reaction of my son and asking to speak to someone higher than him, he became high rate, I told him he was incompetent and he ran off in the back to phone the police. Police arrived and could see our frustration, we hadn't done anything wrong just wanted to get in touch with someone else due to his error and putting my child in harm! We was not the only one complaining, and the manger has no customer service skills at all! All he can do is make up false accusations! The photo added of the breakfast is what was served to one of the other children (we asked for no egg) so this is what they got, other than it had toast on it which he ate with ketchup, do you blame a 5 year old for eating a slice of toast when he was starving as he was wanting his breakfast!! Yet they are it all 🙄. Really looks eaten there!

Stumbled upon this little gem of a pub whilst travelling through, excellent service from the staff and absolutely lovely food, will definitely be returning

i come here often as it’s a local pub, the staff are always lovely however i’d like to mention one young lady who’s name i believe is lucy. In all our experience we’ve never been served by such a well mannered and polite young lady. The people raising her have done a brilliant job, i believe a very important part of dining is the staff, and she definitely made our experience 10x better, will definitely be returning.

food was wonderful, arrived at table super fast, thanks to the super polite server lucy who made sure me and my family was okay all night.

An amazing pub with great staff serving xx

First time here today with the children the pub looked friendly and very well presented and clean , the bar staff was friendly and tendered to our every need servers name was Lauren. the food was well presented and hot!! The hand battered fish was lovely my youngest enjoyed her chicken Nuggets and chips my eldest had Southern fried hunters chicken which was really nice will 100% be visiting again very good quality for the price

Great staff but very understaffed, the poor girls (only2on) had football crowed in plus other customers they did try their best but needed help. Been told that you have new manager where were you? If it wasn't for the staff that were on it would be less.

We came here for my sons 6th birthday, i booked in advance on the phone and asked if we could have a table that was in the corner somewhere as due to my sons 'problems' i try not to disrupt other customers if he decides on any outbursts. I got told on the phone that this was absolutely fine. I understand the pub is a non branded pub, and it is more of a local with the same customers, but when i walked in, as it was our first time, I thought we would be greeted to then be taken to our table. We weren't so I went to the bar whilst others pushed in to be served it was a bit overwhelming, even though it was very quiet for a Saturday evening. When we said we had a table booked for 6 they pointed to a table that was right next to the door, right in the middle of the pub. When i expressed i had asked for a table in the corner, more for other customers than myself, it was greeted with an eye roll and we then got given a different table. As the weather was warm most people were sat outside. The food was very disappointing. The nachos for starter, had fake cheese, out of a squeezy bottle, drizzled on top, it really isn't that expensive to get cheap cheese and grate it on top and melt it in the oven. The kids wings were actually ok and the kids were happy. I then also had the wings and ribs sharing starter as a main. Wow. The ribs, we didn't even know what meat it was, it was so dry and crunchy! The wings were not the best at all, they were drowned in bbq sauce. The other adult meals, they had burgers with 'fries', overcooked crunchy sticks, whereas with the kids meal they got chunky chips with the burger which the adults would of preferred. The adults bbq chicken burger, had more breadcrumbs that chicken and there was minimal bbq sauce on it. My other child got sausage and mash. The 'smash' was a lump with skin on. He also was sick that night from the sausage as that is the only thing he ate that was different to everyone else. As an independent pub I really expected the food to be so much better than a high chain pub, but i was hugely disappointed. No one came to check to see if we were happy with our food as i would of said something then. Working in hospitality myself this was a large let down for something we was really looking forward too when we try and support independent pubs and businesses as often as we can.

Went with a few friends to see a Diana Ross tribute, don't know who organised it but to have entertainment on at same time as football was shocking, didn't know which to listen too all we heard was noise, came out after half hour of racket & went elsewhere!

It was OK but surely people tend to judge a pub by its prices. We thought it was a bit pricey. Friendly though.

Friendly pub with a good atmosphere.

Called in here today having walked up and down dale from Motorhome Depot, whilst our PVC was being repaired. The walk was worth it. Lovely lady behind bar, Phoebe, gave our two dogs a drink as soon as we walked in. Unfortunately, didn’t have any fish for the “fish and chips” so only 4⭐️s. Prices really good in here compared to Lincoln. Pub was not busy at 1.30pm but noticed that Phoebe busied herself cleaning in the bar area. Hope her boss appreciates her. UPDATE: owner replied as soon as I posted my review. When we pulled up pub on Google, there was a video of a couple dancing to Northern Soul. We love Northern Soul and, if you let us know when your next event is and we can park our small motorhome in your car park for the night, we will ensure we get as many people as we can to attend🤗

The menu catered for both myself and my mum, who has a smaller appetite. Excellent customer service. The pub was spotlessly clean and also has a disabled toilet /baby changing room which made it so much easier for my mum, as she's in a wheelchair. Will definitely be returning and I'll be recommending to friends and family. 10 out of 10

Me and my husband have come in for something to eat off the new menu on arrival we was greeted by a lovely lady called Pam who served us with our drinks and took our order we had jackets potato’s with various fillings and side salad the presentation was amazing. All round brilliant customer service and a great experience we will definitely be coming back again!

The Cockle has been the one constant in our social life. Starting as long back as the 80's through to the present day. A fabulous pub with a great atmosphere, and a safe place to meet friends & family of all ages. We've celebrated weddings, new arrivals & sadly to say goodbye to those gone too soon. The Cockle has everything, a good bar, delicious food & live entertainment. Keep up the good work, you're doing great 👍

Excellent meal, good menu, friendly staff. Large car park. No complaint. Well recommended. Quick service.

Approached the bar, with 5 handpulls available. No brewery emblems available. When bar staffed questioned,"What cask beers do you have", I was treated with a blank look and a don't think we have any comment. I had a glass of coke and a packet of crisps. Charged £3.80 which I think was a rip off.

Very polite, friendly, welcoming staff. The food was delicious, and the festive menu was very inviting. Nothing was too much trouble.
