We visited with friends and had the most wonderful meals that tasted great, chips were beautiful! We waited longer than your average chain pub food but understandable when our food arrived all piping hot fresh and delicious! Always been a fan of the food here and would highly recommended Keep up the good work

My husband held a surprise 60th birthday party for me on recommendation from friends. He had also eaten a celebration lunch there previously. Party of 12 and had a fantastic evening. Food was superb, everyone said how much they enjoyed it. Nothing too much trouble, service efficient and prompt. Very welcoming and really enjoyed the atmosphere. Cannot recommend highly enough. A ‘gem’ of a restaurant/pub in Mansfield. Huge thank you to everyone for making our family/friends celebration a total success. Will definitely be back!

We have been a few times and so far definitely never disappointed. everything was perfect. The food is delicious and well presented. The people who work there are all lovely. The place is on the smaller side but that didn't matter. the atmosphere was lovely and calm but wasn't too quiet 😉👌

Great pub, the bar side is just like pubs used to be, friendly people, lovely atmosphere. Restaurant side is lovely, comfortable with great food. Sunday lunch was great 😋 couldn't manage dessert toooo full.

Think this has to be my favourite resturant in a proximity of 50 mile ! The food is amazing ! The attention to detail from not just the food but the staff ! Amy and Jason are super friendly , helpful and accommodating. I cannot reccomed this place enough ! It’s constantly amazing 🤩

There for significant birthday of family member food portions way too big even our teenagers gave up. Food was good though. There was a birthday party also going in the public bar and the noise from there was too much we could barely talk to each other and many of us ended up with headaches

Always fabulous food and service . Relaxed atmosphere, nothing is too much trouble . Steak was amazing and easily the best chips I’ve ever had . Pork starter was to die for . Husband had the curry which he said was beautiful. Always our go to restaurant for quality service and value

Fabulous service and always with a smile We held our celebrations for the christening of the newest addition to the family and had the pleasure of having the restaurant all to ourselves. Amy and her team did an outstanding job in getting our meals out to us so we'll presented and every course delivered on flavour,portion size and taste. It is truly a little gem at Red gate and the whole family totally enjoyed our time there. Many thanks to all the staff at the front and the chefs who put all our lovely food together. Amazing!

Friday afternoon lunch, the new menu is fantastic. Great warm welcome and atmosphere....we love this place

The Red Gate Inn probably conjures up images of a traditional British pub, with a red door/gate entrance, smokers outside and a musty inside atmosphere. However think again. This is actually a bar and restaurant. We visited the restaurant as part of a leaving do for a colleague and were pleasantly surprised. The owners have fused traditional pub with haute cuisine. All the food is made fresh on the premises. For example the Chicken Schnitzel is made with real roasted chicken, and fried in bread crumbs. The chips are essentially the home made version, browner than the chip shop variety and also softer. The desserts are of a very high standard and made on the premises, including the ice cream. The after dinner shortbread is again made on the premises and melted in your mouth. Hopefully we will be coming back in the near future.

Went here a few months for a family members anniversary, amazing food, amazing dessert and great choice of drinks too

This place serves a very good quality meal, well above the average. Very nicely presented. The lady serving us was lovely. She even came to tell us how long our meal would be. I would highly recommend eating here.

Went to a party there, brill pub

Food was as good as always. But we were not told a funeral wake had been booked and we had to vacate our table by 3.30pm We did not have starters and when we finished our main course we were told only time for a quick coffee no deserts. As it was a 65th wedding aniversary treat we were very disappointed. At no point were we told a wake was taking place

Beautiful food well worth waiting for as cooked to order and comes out hot , on hot plates too which I like. Can’t stand lukewarm food on cold plates . All the food we ordered was lovely and nicely presented. Couldn’t fault it, my only slight gripe that I have would be the noise from a large table of women as it’s a small room it is pretty noisy , but that wouldn’t prevent me returning.

Got to admit I never heard of it but I do live in Sheffield, it was my sister who told me about it, got to say the place was beautiful inside was very clean, had a lovely girl waiting on, the food that was served to the other three looked and by all accounts tasted beautiful and was hot, I myself fancied fish & chips with mushy peas, and of course 2 slices of bread an butter ( large fish) now I do have a good appetite but when it came there was 2 fish stacked the fish an the chips an peas was hot the fish was beautiful it fact it all was did I manage to eat it all ! Just did make a couple of chip butties, would I go to this place again, Absolutely all credit to where it's due. Well done to all had a great day. Big thankyou.

We booked as a group of 4 after having really enjoyed our first visit pre Christmas, see separate review. Sadly not as enjoyable as service was slow, although still very pleasant, certain dishes were not available and sadly food not cooked as well. Both lamb dishes served were overcooked, despite being advised initially that they would be pink. The hake with orzo was dry, suspect this had been waiting for other main dishes to be served at the same time so consequently the fish was dry? We didn't make a fuss at the time as we were out with friends and did not want to spoil the evening but we're a little disappointed. Still as excellent choice of dishes but overall an average experience.

Went for only our second time, but must say we thought that The Carnarvon at Skegby was good. But this place leaves it way behind. Took our 2 young children with us also. They had chicken burgers, the chicken was gorgeous perfectly cooked. My wife had Steak pie n Veg she said it was gorgeous. I had The Salmon Meal, must say the Best Fish Meal I've ever had. Also the Service was Excellent. Highly recommended and many thanks to all Staff members and Management.

This was our first visit to The Red Gate for a pre Christmas meal with friends, 4 of us in total. What a lovely surprise, warm, welcoming and excellent home cooked food. Portion size was generous, the choice phenomenal, there was so much to choose from we were spoilt for choice. Fresh ingredients and well cooked. Definitely won't be our only visit, can't wait to go back. Would recommend booking in advance as they are very busy. A lovely evening treat, would recommend to anyone, great to see a pub doing so well, all down to their hard work and commitment.

What can I say? Absolutely lovely meal and fantastic, pleasant service. Came here for my husband's 65th birthday and we had a very warm welcome. We even brought our own cake. The lady serving not only lit candles etc she provided plates,spoons and even a jjug of cream. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his birthday thanks to Redgate. We will definitely be back

Interesting modern take on a trafitional pub theme. I went in public bar which offers everything a pub should offer, pool, sky sports, news, music and very comfortable seating. Dining room is more formal but food looked good and well prepared

For a Golden Wedding Ceremony what do you want? Quality Service? Quality Food? A room big enough to host 30 of your nearest and dearest? Then, do like we did, and visit The Redgate in Mansfield, Notts. Knowing our big event was on the horizon we did a recce and were amazed by the high standard set by Amy and her team. I visited again as part of a school reunion and was delighted that standards were still as high. On our big night we were not disappointed, everything went like clockwork and the food and service were out of this world. Thanks to all involved in making our evening something special. lovely family friendly pub, best in Mansfield by far!(and surrounding areas) food is to die for, the experience is friendly and up beat and the best of both worlds for people who like a more traditional pub atmosphere or a more exclusive restaurant and bar setting. the bar staff are amazing and Jay looks after his customers. prices are very affordable also. highly recommend!

You simply can’t go wrong here. Ok … if you want bistro exotic food … you can go wrong ! But for simple home cooked delicious food , excellent professional staff and top rate landlord who goes the extra mile. Came here last time the first week after lockdown stopped and it was a sad place , wondering if it would survive … but survive it has ! Had a really impressive steak pie … definitely home cooked and home cooked chips … It’s a locals place with a friendly welcome and delicious food

Excellent gourmet meals and first class service in "the Best Side". We have ALWAYS had a brilliant evening here.

We re-visited the Red Gate after many years and found the food very pleasant. Lovely mushrooms on sour dough starters and various mains incl plaice, lamb, seafood, rump streak and gammon ... all well prepared and tasty. Food for 6 with coffee was about £140. Pinot Grigio was about £15 a bottle. No real ale on offer which is a bit sad for a pub! Worth a visit

Four of us went tonite to remember a very dear friend whose birthday it was. The food was excellent and the desserts were fabulous. The service was excellent and they did not rush us away and the lady serving was very understanding of the occasion. I would definitely recommend this place and excellent value for money too.
