The best restaurants in Hope Valley High Peak East Midlands

Popped in for a drink on our way to another place which we were booked in for dinner. Quirky looking pub inside (in a good way). Friendly, hard working staff. Called in on the way back from our meal for another drink and had a desert each too which was good.

Visited here on 'Christmas lights switch on' afternoon/evening, and what a lovely cafe. We both had a panini and a milkshake. The staff were very friendly, the coleslaw was amazing and the milkshake were one of the best either of us have had for a very long time.

The first time we have eaten here, although they have been our go to take away for many years, food as usual was excellent but it was so much better with great service and not having to wash the pots!

Saddened to write a poor review after such high hopes, unfortunately our experience did not live up to the expectations. Extremely overpriced. Had to send back a cremated chicken breast and my partner’s food was left to go cold. No offer to heat anything up, several people around us had a s similar food quality issue. Very accommodating bar service, but unfortunately not enough to overcompensate for the stale, overcrowded atmosphere and pricy drinks (£10 for a glass of Prosecco). Would not return.

After a walk to Man Tor before catching the train to Sheffield, it's always good to have a pint in The Rambler Inn, open fire, friendly welcome and reasonably priced beer.

We were recommended this Pub/Restaurant by friends and were not disappointed. It was a Monday lunch so fairly quiet. We sat by a roaring log fire on a very cold day. Food and service were excellent. Gluten Free no problem.

Booked a table for a family Christmas lunch on a mid December weekend, specified this as a note on the booking. On the day we were told that you could only have the Christmas menu if you had preordered. At no point when booking online or after had we been asked to preorder and the Christmas menu on the website had not stated preordering was necessary. I had also called pub to confirm booking and hadn't been notified then either. It put a real dampner on a lunch we were all excited for. Made worse by the fact that we were surrounded by other big tables being served from the Christmas menu and with crackers etc and ours was a simple roast. They did offer to add turkey as an alternative to the meat on any of the normal roasts after making a bit of a fuss but the rest of the menu was not avaliable. I love overseas and was looking forward to a traditional Christmas meal and dessert, so a very disappointing visit.

Very warm and welcoming staff, great place to recover from a long days walk or hike, decent food and dog friendly. Will stop In again next time we’re in the area.

Wonderful Valentines Day meal at the Old Cheese. It was freezing outside, but stepped through the door to a warm welcome and a super meal in the restaurant. The room was adorned with hearts and red roses which was a lovely touch. We chose the set meal which was a great choice as the starter main course and desert was beautiful. Wonderful service and the waitress was attentive and so professional. We have booked for tomorrow night!

Aunque el personal era agradable, la comida es muy cara por la calidad, el pastel estaba crudo... Pagué 3 libras extra por una rodaja de queso en una hamburguesa... Para aumentar el sabor amargo, recibí una multa de estacionamiento. Esto es mi culpa, debería haber leído los letreros, pero realmente hubiera esperado que el personal me dijo que ingrese mi matrícula al tomar mi pedido... Se suponía que el aparcamiento era gratuito para los clientes. Cuando pedí ayuda, me dijeron que el personal estaba muy bien capacitado y que no era su responsabilidad. Muy decepcionante.
