Tasty breakfast we came here twice after being disappointed with the offerings from the on-site café at the campsite we stayed on. well cooked food and good menu choices. Good value. only slight criticism was quite a long wait for our food but may have been down to fewer staff on one day. will return.

All I can say,me and my partner called in here for our breakfast and this is the best breakfast I've ever had, it was absolutely amazing and tasty if I'm ever back in Buxton I will defo make this my place to go too. All staff are tentative and well mannered, can't wait to revisit

The good: Excellent food with a great choice of Spanish beers. Nice place and a nice ambience. The not so good: What did disappoint was the service and that was felt by the majority of our party. We were a large group on a long table. A lot of the dishes came at once ( felt like a food explosion) the staff didn’t distribute the dishes evenly on the table. One end of the table got the prawns while the other end didn’t even know they existed. Likewise, the Chorizo dishes and cheese board were all lumped in one area We also felt rushed, which is not what we expected with a Tapas meal, it was everything but a relaxing experience. Yes it was a busy Saturday afternoon, but that shouldn’t be our problem, it was a 2 hour booking and no need to hurry. Hard to justify top ratings, had the service reflected the expectation and quality of the food then my scoring may have been higher. I have no qualms about going back, so hopefully this review will be seen as constructive rather than a moan and whinge.

Let’s start with positives - lady working behind the bar was very friendly and talked us through all available drink. Place is bizarre, cluttered and just doesn’t make sense. With each minute that we spent in the beer garden me and my partner noticed more and more ridiculous things. Beer garden is interesting combination of storage area, £1 shop and a skip - you won’t find two identical tables or chairs, we sat next to cardboard cage and a big bin, above - bird hut, behind me and a metal cow which didn’t make sense either. Kitchen doors were constantly open which is fair with extreme temperatures but we have seen a staff member coming out and grabbing vegetables from garden storage box which was placed in customer areas, box wasn’t closed, secured and it wasn’t a refrigeration unit, anyone could access it at any point. And in 30 degree temperature weather those vegetables were not healthy! During 45 minutes visit not a single table was cleaned and nobody checked on customers dining and drinking outside. Overall I recommend this place if you like weird things!

Stumbled across this lovely Ale and Gin bar, first impressions is just wow really warm and inviting with stunning decor. Great selection of Real ales and Gins, on this occasion we decided to try some of the ales, we weren’t sure what to try, staff member was very knowledgeable and gave some little samples to try. Drinks were very reasonably priced and there was just a lovely relaxed area. The bar filled up very quickly, it would probably be a bar that I would go into early evening and quite happily stay there. Will definitely visit again and would recommend for a drink.

Lovely cosy small restaurant. Everyone smiling and polite. Food fresh and well presented, very tasty. Would recommend for a relaxed evening.

I really liked the atmosphere here but the person who took our order was quite disinterested. The food was disappointingly bland. It wasn’t made clear the tofu in the dish I ordered was scrambled and I needed a microscope to spot the advertised. avocado. It didn’t even amount to two spoonfuls. I queried it because I couldn’t find it at first! So I wouldn’t rush back.

With summer finally here I was tempted by the menu in the window of Nocturne. Affogato was just what I hadn't realised I was looking for. And when it came it was just delightful with a wonderful balance between the flavours of espresso and ice cream, and set off by a generous dusting of chocolate and a couple of coffee beans. A relaxing break with classical music in this tiny gem of a cafe in upper Buxton, almost opposite famous second-hand bookshop Scriveners. I can't wait for my next visit.

Was visiting Buxton (staying at Queens Head) but someone recommended The Swan for its quiz (it is a great pub too). What a fantastic quiz-master - does not stand for cheats who google on their phones! Best version of Stand-up Bingo as well.
