Buxton Tap House in High Peak

Came in for lunch on a Saturday. Great selection of beers on tap and excellent value burgers and pizzas. Our favourite spot in Buxton.

Visited 21st September and enjoyed lovely local beers and a great atmosphere . Food was also great. Need burger with bone marrow was one of the best I have had. Wife had the veggie burger which she also raved about. Live singing was fantastic. We didn’t get the young ladies name but best acoustic versions of well known classic songs as good as I have heard in years Overall great atmosphere What was also nice was music didn’t take over the venue. Just added a great vibe

When we got there it wasn’t too busy but there was a 40 minute wait on food which was fine as we weren’t too hungry at the time except 50 minutes later still no food and then a member of staff came to our table and said our food would be 5 minutes and then 25 minutes later still no food. Until a lady brought us our pizzas and greeted us with “Did you guys order pizzas? F**king brill” which was completely inappropriate. Then as she left the table she wished us an extremely sarcastic “Happy Christmas and new year” and proceeded to stare at us as she walked out the door. Completely don’t recommend whatsoever, some members of staff were lovely and professional but overall service was poor and made us feel uncomfortable for the rest of our meal.

Absolutely spot on. Small Sunday lunch was huge, more than enough and at £12 an absolute bargain. After a disappointing experience elsewhere in town midweek this was a joy. Very busy and a lot of people turned up without a reservation and were disappointed. Good service and friendly too.

Plenty of tables and seats dotted around, a few spots with bar stools too. Spotted a couple games / card games. Great selection of beers, also lovely 0.5% Big Drop. Food was spot on, decent portion for the side plates and sandwiches. Small plates a little pricey for portion size, but tasty. Plenty of wooden baby high chairs and baby changer if your out with a little one. Dog friendly too. Two benches outside. Lovely friendly and helpful staff. All in all. Spot on! Lovely spot for a break from walking round the town and tasting a couple beers. Decent enough overall pricing.

Having visited the Pav. Gardens earlier in the year, I thought we'd give the taphouse a go. We were met by a very unfriendly blonde lady who, when asked what she recommended replied "I don't like beer." I was fairly shocked as I would assume the reason to work for a brewery is that you at least enjoy beer!! :D I ordered 2 halves of different things, and received 2 pints, but as that's what we were there for I didn't mind too much. Over a eleven pounds!! Good grief! These better taste like the best beer I've ever had! They sadly fell short. What a shame! The good work that was done by your staff at Pav. Gardens was undone in just half an hour at your taphouse. I will say the food smelt amazing but I also noticed that a couple were told the kitchen had closed at around 20.00 which I thought was odd when it had stated food till 21.00. You can't always call it I guess. I should say that after having a generally ok time here that they should take a hint of customer service from your sister site, manners go a long way and the zealousness of Gen and her love of beer should be acknowledged, I sincerely hope it is. Thank you to Buxton Brewery though as this last visit has proved that it is not the beer, but the people who make a truly worthwhile experience memorable.

We found out about this place from a member of staff in the Buxton brewery shop. It's a lovely location and great place to sample a great local beer.

Great selection of beers. Dog friendly and very friendly staff. Were made to feel very welcome, even with a very wet dog!

The food and atmosphere were great. The Tap House is known locally for its variety of beers. These include gluten-free options. Definitely try their beer 'Girl from Mars' We had the belly pork in hosin sauce with cheesy truffle fries and truffle mac and cheese. These worked well together. We had a great evening out

They had no kids menu and service was very slow. They brought out all the adult meals and didn’t bring the kids meals out until 10 mins later so kids got upset and restless. Then they forgot one of the orders

This was the third time that we have had food here and it was so disappointing. The other times were so good. The food was cold and hardly any beef in the tacos the waitress said it was a new chef won’t be back

Stayed in Buxton 2 night came here both nights. Staff very friendly and helpful on the beers. We really enjoyed drinking here it’s a lovely environment. We ended up staying on for food last night. Tried the 3 plates for £25 and shared a lamb burger £14 all very good. No complaints.

What a little gem of a place! We were staying just over the road for work and decided to try here. Lovely food, drinks and staff. Also a fantastic touch to have card games etc for people to play. Definitely worth a visit!

Great venue for some really nice beer and unexpectedly excellent food. Thoroughly recommend some of the small plates options: sweet potato / courgette fritters and nduja scotch egg particularly good.

Its great to see that Buxton Brewery have now returned to offering food options whilst enjoying their wonderful beers. Excellent Blackened Chicken Cajun with lovely cajun cream sauce. Service was excellent. Highly recommended

Had a fab lunch here on a flying overnight to Buxton. Our food was really quick and the quality and presentation were outstanding. We are in the cafe business so know when corners are cut and here they are not! We had the fish sandwich which was so hot and tasty and the chips are to die for. Great prices, fab atmosphere, loved the music choice, all in all a great experience, give them a try you won't be disappointed!

Food was amazing - we had a few sharing plates which are big enough for a meal for one and great value at 3 for £25 plus we ordered most of the sandwiches across our table. The haddock gougons were over salty but everything else was delicious- Cajun chicken highly recommended along with the pork belly and duck/chicken pancakes. Beer is fab, staff very friendly and attentive. Highly recommended

Wow! Think they may have a new chef since we last came in 2022 but absolutely sensational food… we popped in for lunch then came back for dinner it was so delicious and also amazing value?? They have a three “small plates” for £25 but the plates are a full meal! Small it’s not part of them - the quality of the meat and the flavour of the dishes are fabulous. The menu is also massive and it Dosent need to be because it’s all so delicious 🤤 Really really good here - can’t wait to come back! Don’t tell anyone else please as want to keep this a hidden gem!

My team came to Buxton taphouse for our Christmas lunch. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed our visit! The staff were brilliant, the food was fab (good sized portions too!) And we all even too part in some beer tasting. The atmosphere was very relaxed and we were all looked after. Thank you so much! We will definitely come again!

We had a lovely afternoon meal at the Tap House! I would thoroughly recommend the lamb mint burger and the Lupulus citrus beer. Would recommend to anyone. Good value, service and very very tasty!

I heard a rumour that the fabled Chef Robert Peeling was running the kitchen at the Tap house and I had to see if they were true. Whispers of his return have been heard from the four corners of the world - mutterings of his name in alien tongues echoed across the land - an enigma shrouded within an mystery... I ordered the sunday dinner and waited, patiently foaming at the mouth in anticipation for what was to pass. When the meal arrived my extremities were quivering with excitement! Never before I have I felt the soft contours of my face glow in such a way. The presentation, the taste, the mouth feel! I felt as though mayhaps it was a meal prepared by the gods for fallen angels to devour before making battle with lucifers servants. What am I to do? After ingesting this meal I am now nothing more than a vascuous husk - consumed by sorrow and suffering at the thought of swallowing anything prepared by mortals.

For ‘no need to book’ written on chalk board outside, read booking not possible and there will be no space when you turn up later and staff will be indifferent and dismissive. 5 disappointed adults

Visited for a late lunch with my partner. We both had sandwiches, Mediterranean veg for myself and beef brisket for my partner. The food was amazing and the staff were friendly.

I returned to Buxton and this venue was one of the key reasons! The beer that Buxton produces is some of the best ive tried. Now they have added a kitchen which only enhances the place. The staff are knowledgevale and friendly and this is a must visit for a craft/real ale fan! Sat enjoying a pint of phoenix as I write this!

We booked here for food on a busy Saturday night, the only thing which let it down was they had forgotten about our reservation. They did however sort this, but felt bad for moving some others off tables! The food at first looked very generic pub food, however the food was fantastic! A lot more than it looked on the menu. Good selection of beers and friendly staff.

We visited 4 times across two days and found the staff friendly, helpful and, given a recent comment, tables were regularly cleaned when people left. The beers were well kept, tasty and reasonably priced. We did not have the food though it looked very good.

Just eaten for the first time since they re-introduced food. It was excellent: had a beef burger with lots of trimmings, fries and slaw. Great taste and great service! We are glad food is back!

This looked full of promise from the outside but was somewhat of a disappointing experience. The staff, although friendly, obviously had little experience. The coffees arrived like warm. My friend had to send hers back, and the counter tops and tables were sticky. We are unlikely to visit again.

Had a great lunch from the ‘small plate’ selection. The haddock chowder was amazing and pulled beef tacos and burrata salad very good. The portion sizes were good so I wouldn’t describe them as small plates. We shared 3 between 2 and were very well fed. Staff very friendly and helpful.

We came here for lunch on the day the kitchen has just reopened after a year. We ordered from the small plates menu and were not disappointed! I had the lamb meatballs which came in a rich tomato sauce, which were beautifully herby and soft. My mum had the lamb kofta which is the best she’s ever had. We also had a side order of truffle Parmesan fries which were amazing. Reasonably priced and wonderful food, staff were attentive and friendly too, will definitely return! Hope to try the desserts next time.

It’s a great atmosphere in the bar . There were only two serving so long queues . There’s no food which us a shame . It wasn’t too warm so we left our coats on .

This is our second visit to this venue this one being just after lockdown. We booked a table in advance (timed slot) and on arrival were escorted to a table socially distanced from the other tables. We were supplied with disposable menus for both the food and the beer choice which we found offered a good choice of options. It was all table service including paying for our meal, the staff were all really friendly and helpful. Well worth a visit.

After being shown to one of the tables by the window by the welcoming and friendly member of staff I was delighted to be told that all the cask, keg and bottled beers with the exception of two were vegan friendly. The flight of three thirds was a great way to sample only a fraction of the excellent variety on offer. The décor is smart and minimalist with exposed stonework, diffused lighting and muted colours.

The Buxton Brewery Tap is superb. It fully showcases a diverse selection of the brewery's beers, and the food is spot on. The staff were super friendly. A must visit for any beer enthusiast, booking in advance is recommended. We visited on a Monday at 7pm and it was busy!
