Superb food and exemplary service at our family and friends gathering for our sons Good Luck and very early 21st Birthday. The buffet was exemplary and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. Cannot praise or recommend high enough.

This was my last supper in a week's trip where I had not truly enjoyed a meal, so a lot was riding on this one, and Bailey's did not disappoint. Although they were busy, they did not seem to consider my presence an imposition, the way many restaurants treat a lone diner without a reservation. Instead they welcomed me warmly and proceeded to serve me food that was out of this world. They were out of the sticky prawns starter (reasonable after a busy pre-theatre crowd) so I went for the calamari instead, and I think I lucked out. They were tender, without even a hint of rubberiness, accompanied by a gentle tangy sauce on a generous bed of bacon morsels. Main course was a perfect fillet of beef with Café de Paris butter, and the most perfect chips ever. Oh and a surprise corn on the cob. Finished with an exquisite crème brulée, which itself was accompanied by a surprise pair of shortbread biscuits. I could find no fault at all with any course, and I'm kind of sad it's all over now. Highly recommended.

If you are a little early for the train.... lovely little place to sit and have a drink / meal while you wait. Statin is a couple of minutes away

We held a surprise birthday party here for my husband for 30 friends and family. The food was excellent, thoroughly enjoyed by all. Staff are friendly and helpful, and Steven was fantastic in the weeks beforehand, helping us to organise and maintain a wonderful surprise. Thank you very much for a wonderful occasion, much appreciated.

Long wait for food, but good once it arrived.

We are staying in Buxton and we are eating out every evening. We hadn’t booked but were greeted enthusiastically and shown to our table which was last available on ground floor. We all enjoyed our meals all prepared and presented well by pleasant knowledgeable staff. Well worth a visit if staying in Buxton. Best meal so far.

I regularly eat here with clients from work, never had anything but a great meal and the owners are fantastic. Best selection of beers in the local area by far as well.

Had a delightful Sunday roast with all the trimmings and more! succulent beef , crisp fresh vegetables , roasties, roast veg and very tasty gravy , delicious , dessert of key lime pie with ice cream amazing, lovely staff amazing food , intimate atmosphere 20 0ut of 10 ! Would recommend booking , also great wine list .

We hadn't booked but they managed to squeeze us in on a busy Sunday evening, just had to wait with a drink which wasn't a problem! Shown to our table within the stated time and had a lovely Sunday roast and a Lamb Shank. Both meals were super tasty and portions very generous. Lovely atmosphere and would definitely return 😀

Almost faultless. Lovely ambience, excellent service and great food. Imagine parking may be a bit of a problem when the nearby Opera House is busy but a place we will not hesitate in visiting again.

Sunday lunch was quality and good value for the amount you get and the service was warm and friendly. Would definitely recommend.

Fantastic food! Service is good even though it was busy when we visited. Reasonable prices. Highly recommend the steak and the lamb. Got very noisy as the diners left, and it became more of a bar.

The food was delicious. But wouldn't call it exceptional. The atmosphere was nice and tend to be more suited for couples. We ordered burgers and lamb. All quite nice.

The food could not be faulted, Such a lovely meal that was perfectly cooked..service lost a star as did atmosphere...only due to those both being a little off.

From the initial phone call to book, to getting the bill, this place is faultless! Service was impeccable, food delightful and location perfect. My friend and I went for a nice birthday dinner, so glad we did! We had the sharing starter platter and then the chateaubriand for 2. Cooked to perfection, the peppercorn sauce was divine and the meat cooked to perfection. Would definitely choose here again. Top quality at good prices.

Hugely disappointed with the service, after being told, by message and e-mail, that there would not be a problem with gluten free bun with the burger option my wife turned up to be told that no GF bread, in any form, was available, as far as i am concerned lured there under false information and completly unacceptable, particurlaly as there is a well known supermarket close by that sells GF bread of all types, It would have been nice for them to make a little more effort and produced the exact meal as promised.

The BEST Sunday roast! Delicious chicken, all the trimmings, lots of fresh veg, couldn’t fault it. Staff were very attentive, found us a table when we didn’t have a booking and we were seated quickly. It was a little wait for the food but, once it arrived, I could tell that everything had been freshly prepared so the wait was totally understandable and worth it, it was perfect. Five stars!

Fantastic place! Had the starter platter, generous portion, enough for 2 adults and 1 kid. I had venison, my partner had lamb, both were gorgeous. Can't wait to return

Had an evening meal at Baileys while we were visiting Buxton. We were certainly very impressed! Lovely menu to choose from, we had lamb shank and steak & Stilton pie. Food was of very high quality, chips were plentiful and crispy and meals came with a generous selection of veg. Staff were attentive and helpful. Shame we don’t live in Buxton - I would definitely go here again!

Couldn't fault it. Lovely calm atmosphere, attentive (but not too attentive) staff, food was perfectly cooked and seasoned and portion sizes were great. Plenty of choice for coeliacs, veggies and vegans. Had a relaxing meal for two.

The food was excellent and everyone said the same thing. Service was no problem and reasonably prompt.

Saw a free table outside in the May bank holiday sun, went inside to enquire if it was ok to sit outside for a few drinks, was told “ if the tables free then yeah, I’ll be right with you” waited for just under 10 minutes and no one had come to take my order. Went inside to place said order in person and paid for two drinks, then waited another 15 minutes at the table with no drinks. Went inside to ask for a refund, they couldn’t find my order and after asking me what I wanted refunded then went to ask another member of staff if this was correct. I was told that no ticket had been seen by the bar member so no drinks had been made. We were going to order food, but after waiting so long just for drinks, we were for sure going to miss the train waiting for food. Easily refunded, and apologies made. But outside customers treated as second class by establishment. Went for a lovely couple of wines at the craft beer place a couple of doors down, where we were served promptly and made to feel welcome and valued by staff.

Food took a while to arrive but amazing flavours and huge portions! Would recommend the Sunday roast and Ribs.

This bar & restaurant had a nice vibe. Really friendly staff also. The food was mixed. My sirloin was decent as was my friends kangaroo! Unfortunately my other friends didn't rate their ribeyes. The cheesecake also wasn't great. Still, a nice bar and the manager was also good.

Absolutely stunning Sunday lunch, I can't recommend enough. We had the roast beef which was cooked perfectly. Great selection of vegetables and of course all the other extras including Yorkshire pudding, pigs in blankets and stuffing. The restaurant was busy but had a relaxed atmosphere. Lovely, friendly staff added to a great experience. This Sunday lunch was one of the best we have ever had. Booked in again later in the week to sample more of their mouth watering menu. I think its going to be a hard decision what to try.

I went to Bailey's with my 3 kids for a prebooked party for 18. We ordered our food 7 to 10 days in advance as advised and upon arrival iwas informed that my chosen dessert of cheese and biscuits was not available. The food I was served was fine although the roast potatoes were over cooked and too hard to cut, but my main issue was the fact that the desert I had ordered at least 7 days prior was not available. Waitrose is 2 min walk away. 7 days is enough to make sure everything ordered was available

I am Very fortunate in so much as my work takes me to lots of international destinations and great places to visit. I do not say this lightly ......I can't think of a better restaurant anywhere than Bailey's I speak in particular about the Steaks , outstanding you simply will not better it. You may come close but I defy anyone to improve on it for steaks. It would not be a complete review without a special shout out for the Sunday lunch again I can't think of better. Great staff and service really is the complete package.Not the cheapest but nothing worth ha ING comes cheap. Even if you find it a bit pricey you will have forgotten the cost a day or two later,but you will remember the quality and enjoyment ling afterwards.

Food is unbelievable and a great relaxed atmosphere, perfect for an afternoon after being out in the hills. We have 2 large dogs and the staff made every effort to help them relax, even some nice treats!

Sat in ground floor area, good selection of beers, came as a bit of a welcome surprise. We shared two main meals, which was a great way to sample two different and lovely cuisines.

Just had the most perfect meal I’ve ever had. We shared chateaubriand between the two of us. Cooked to perfection we would highly recommend.

I came here to eat on the Friday 1st March 24. We were tended to straight away, we was walked to our table upstairs. We had enough time to look at the menus before the waiter asked us what we wanted. We shared Halloumi fries as a starter, which was very nice and enough to share. I had the lamb shank as a main and it was a generous amount and very filling. It was also very, very tasty. For dessert I had the delicious caramel cheesecake and it was to die for. The prices were reasonable for the quality of food, service and surroundings. I will definitely be coming back, though next time I won't drive. Then I can sample the wines or gins. Thanks to the Bailey's team for making it a lovely evening. Xx

Really nice restaurant. Beautifully and cosily presented. Lovely food. I had stacked chicken and beef burger and loaded fries. The misses had the fish. Great menu to choose from. Everything was lovely and clean especially the physical menus that were in lovely leather books and looked like they were freshly printed. (my pet peeve is dirty menus). Friendly staff too!

Oh my god, this was the best roast dinner I've had in many years, and possibly my favourite of all time. Exquisite service, juicy olives as a starter (and lots of them) and then the roast. The red wine was superb too. We had a wonderful evening - thank you team! Marc, Alison and Lauren

This place is marvellous. A great menu with a great selection but not too much to choose from. Venison, duck and Kangaroo are recommended. Good process for what you are getting. The staff are very friendly and look after you. Laid back place with not too many tables crammed in and a great selection of drinks. Definitely recommend

Glad we stopped in here today. Great food choices, amazing portion sizes and very friendly service, what more can you ask for! The soup of the day, broccoli and stilton was lovely. I had the steak and Stilton pie that was very filling and really tasty. You would have to be very picky to find faults here. Thank you for a great lunch.

For restaurants to charge the prices they must produce quality food, the ribeye I asked for medium rare was not cooked very well more like well done dry,I left half with lots of tendon left in the steak that you struggle to remove once grilled not impressed at all, the bill was £77 for two it's OK when they ask is every thing OK I do complain but on this occasion i just gave up they would have probably grilled another one then you sit waiting while your partner starts theirs so awkward come on chef you must try harder the restaurant only had 6 people in I can cook steak you had no excuse.

Wow what an amazing place. The food was just superb, I had the chicken and the flavours were excellent. I could not fault the service they were so friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. It was so pleasant to sit in comfort first to have a drink and only when the food was ready did we move to a table. The price was very reasonable for what we had. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Firstly Dave, the owner booked us in last minute when the restaurant was full. All the staff were accommodating & friendly from the moment we walked in. Exceptional cocktails 🍸 made by Dave, a quirky refreshing cocktail menu with various twists; well made and full of flavour - Moreish! My wife & I, ordered the infamous burgers; HUGE portions made with high quality meat, well seasoned and so filling we had to take a doggy bag to finish the next day. What a gem of a place - based on Dave’s Nana Bailey so theres an iconic story attached to this place. If your in Buxton - come, drink, eat and Enjoy 😉

Had Sunday lunch at Baileys today. The food was well cooked and beautifully presented. The staff were attentive without being intrusive. This was our first visit to Baileys, however it certainly won't be our last.

Very friendly and welcoming from arrival to departure. Excellent choice on the menu, something there for all choices and reasonably priced. A smallish bar and restaurant but tables spread out for privacy. The food was excellent and our group of six left very full and happy.

Lovely meal, with great service. Highly recommended to anyone in the buxton area. Saturdays there is also live music which is great to sit down and enjoy with a drink from a fully stocked bar

It’s not very often you find a place to go and eat fabulous food, have super service followed by an evening of fun with friends, cocktails and entertainment all in one venue. We had the BEST evening. The food was divine, we were made to feel so welcome by the team there, and had a blast. Would recommend anyone to go, it’s just a shame we don’t live in Buxton - we would be there every weekend! Good food but let down by poor service on a Saturday night. 30 minutes to take drinks order and an hour before food arrived.

Thank you soo much for an amazing time on Saturday for my hen party. Cocktail making was soo much fun and was soo nice to try some different ones. The food was beautiful & the portions were a very good size. I’ll definitely be coming back.

Great find - small intimate restaurant with the main dining area up stairs ( approx 15 stairs). All staff very professional and friendly. The food was excellent as was the service.

Excellent service from David and superb cooking from chef when I asked for a rare medium not mr kangaroo steak. It was Excellent. David was an excellent host and knowledgeable re wines too

Great family roast, my duck was cooked to my liking with a good selection of vegetables. Vegetables were Al dente, and as I’ve said in my other reviews, neither my partner or I like it this way, and wish restaurants would give the option for veg to be cooked to the sitters liking, but it’s not the end of the world. Gravy was tasty but a bit strong in flavour, which masked some of the other flavours on the plate. Nice addition of a pig in blanket but the stuffing was a bit too sweet for me, and the Yorkshire pud was slightly burnt. My partner and her sister had beef, and sadly it wasn’t the greatest cut, as it was quite fatty, and the overall piece was on the tuff side. Server could have done with being a bit chirpier, but might have been having an off day. Would recommend the Buxton Bitter if you like a good strong, tasty drink, like me.

A busy bar and restaurant, lively atmosphere, great staff, wide choice menu. There was a quiz on when we were there so we joined in, that was a fun twist to the evening. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Food was pretty good, catfish batter a little greasy, rib sauce a little claggy. All enjoyable though.

Excellent food and service. We were asked from arrival if we were attending the theatre. We were and every effort was made to make sure we were there on time.

Well Buxton you're coming up. Delightful eatery with knowledgeable staff attentive and pleasant. The food was lovely portions are BIG and very reasonable prices. Setting is contemporary but not brash gave a very relaxed feel. The decor is calming and all the little details (ladies room) made the visit one I'll do again. Well done ❤️

I came here with my partner and family for a Sunday roast and it was absolutely delicious! The beef was so tender and the veg was cooked to perfection! I’d recommend the roast to everyone but come hungry as it’s a lot of gorgeous food! Did manage to find room in the second stomach for pudding and I’m glad I did the chocolate fondant bomb desert was very enjoyable!

Went for a drink and bought a snack, really nice place, friendly staff and the snack was nice as well. They also had entertainment but we haven't managed to go to one of those evenings yet
