Baileys Bar & Restaurant Buxton in High Peak

Absolutely stunning Sunday lunch, I can't recommend enough. We had the roast beef which was cooked perfectly. Great selection of vegetables and of course all the other extras including Yorkshire pudding, pigs in blankets and stuffing. The restaurant was busy but had a relaxed atmosphere. Lovely, friendly staff added to a great experience. This Sunday lunch was one of the best we have ever had. Booked in again later in the week to sample more of their mouth watering menu. I think its going to be a hard decision what to try.

I went to Bailey's with my 3 kids for a prebooked party for 18. We ordered our food 7 to 10 days in advance as advised and upon arrival iwas informed that my chosen dessert of cheese and biscuits was not available. The food I was served was fine although the roast potatoes were over cooked and too hard to cut, but my main issue was the fact that the desert I had ordered at least 7 days prior was not available. Waitrose is 2 min walk away. 7 days is enough to make sure everything ordered was available

Absolutely fantastic meal out at the Bailey's. Service was fantastic. We will be back next time we visit Buxton.

I am Very fortunate in so much as my work takes me to lots of international destinations and great places to visit. I do not say this lightly ......I can't think of a better restaurant anywhere than Bailey's I speak in particular about the Steaks , outstanding you simply will not better it. You may come close but I defy anyone to improve on it for steaks. It would not be a complete review without a special shout out for the Sunday lunch again I can't think of better. Great staff and service really is the complete package.Not the cheapest but nothing worth ha ING comes cheap. Even if you find it a bit pricey you will have forgotten the cost a day or two later,but you will remember the quality and enjoyment ling afterwards.

Food is unbelievable and a great relaxed atmosphere, perfect for an afternoon after being out in the hills. We have 2 large dogs and the staff made every effort to help them relax, even some nice treats!

First time at this lovely restaurant. Food, service and atmosphere were brilliant, will definitely go again. So much choice on the menu too, certainly caters for everyone

First time we've called in here we only had a drink but the food we saw looked delicious. We will be back to try it soon

Sat in ground floor area, good selection of beers, came as a bit of a welcome surprise. We shared two main meals, which was a great way to sample two different and lovely cuisines.

Just had the most perfect meal I’ve ever had. We shared chateaubriand between the two of us. Cooked to perfection we would highly recommend.

I came here to eat on the Friday 1st March 24. We were tended to straight away, we was walked to our table upstairs. We had enough time to look at the menus before the waiter asked us what we wanted. We shared Halloumi fries as a starter, which was very nice and enough to share. I had the lamb shank as a main and it was a generous amount and very filling. It was also very, very tasty. For dessert I had the delicious caramel cheesecake and it was to die for. The prices were reasonable for the quality of food, service and surroundings. I will definitely be coming back, though next time I won't drive. Then I can sample the wines or gins. Thanks to the Bailey's team for making it a lovely evening. Xx

Really nice restaurant. Beautifully and cosily presented. Lovely food. I had stacked chicken and beef burger and loaded fries. The misses had the fish. Great menu to choose from. Everything was lovely and clean especially the physical menus that were in lovely leather books and looked like they were freshly printed. (my pet peeve is dirty menus). Friendly staff too!

Six of us ate at this restaurant we all choose different meals And everyone’s meal was nice but my wife’s chicken which I tried was amazing!! We would definitely recommend

Oh my god, this was the best roast dinner I've had in many years, and possibly my favourite of all time. Exquisite service, juicy olives as a starter (and lots of them) and then the roast. The red wine was superb too. We had a wonderful evening - thank you team! Marc, Alison and Lauren

This place is marvellous. A great menu with a great selection but not too much to choose from. Venison, duck and Kangaroo are recommended. Good process for what you are getting. The staff are very friendly and look after you. Laid back place with not too many tables crammed in and a great selection of drinks. Definitely recommend

Glad we stopped in here today. Great food choices, amazing portion sizes and very friendly service, what more can you ask for! The soup of the day, broccoli and stilton was lovely. I had the steak and Stilton pie that was very filling and really tasty. You would have to be very picky to find faults here. Thank you for a great lunch.

For restaurants to charge the prices they must produce quality food, the ribeye I asked for medium rare was not cooked very well more like well done dry,I left half with lots of tendon left in the steak that you struggle to remove once grilled not impressed at all, the bill was £77 for two it's OK when they ask is every thing OK I do complain but on this occasion i just gave up they would have probably grilled another one then you sit waiting while your partner starts theirs so awkward come on chef you must try harder the restaurant only had 6 people in I can cook steak you had no excuse.

Wow what an amazing place. The food was just superb, I had the chicken and the flavours were excellent. I could not fault the service they were so friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. It was so pleasant to sit in comfort first to have a drink and only when the food was ready did we move to a table. The price was very reasonable for what we had. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Firstly Dave, the owner booked us in last minute when the restaurant was full. All the staff were accommodating & friendly from the moment we walked in. Exceptional cocktails 🍸 made by Dave, a quirky refreshing cocktail menu with various twists; well made and full of flavour - Moreish! My wife & I, ordered the infamous burgers; HUGE portions made with high quality meat, well seasoned and so filling we had to take a doggy bag to finish the next day. What a gem of a place - based on Dave’s Nana Bailey so theres an iconic story attached to this place. If your in Buxton - come, drink, eat and Enjoy 😉

Had Sunday lunch at Baileys today. The food was well cooked and beautifully presented. The staff were attentive without being intrusive. This was our first visit to Baileys, however it certainly won't be our last.

Very friendly and welcoming from arrival to departure. Excellent choice on the menu, something there for all choices and reasonably priced. A smallish bar and restaurant but tables spread out for privacy. The food was excellent and our group of six left very full and happy.

Lovely meal, with great service. Highly recommended to anyone in the buxton area. Saturdays there is also live music which is great to sit down and enjoy with a drink from a fully stocked bar

It’s not very often you find a place to go and eat fabulous food, have super service followed by an evening of fun with friends, cocktails and entertainment all in one venue. We had the BEST evening. The food was divine, we were made to feel so welcome by the team there, and had a blast. Would recommend anyone to go, it’s just a shame we don’t live in Buxton - we would be there every weekend! Good food but let down by poor service on a Saturday night. 30 minutes to take drinks order and an hour before food arrived.

Thank you soo much for an amazing time on Saturday for my hen party. Cocktail making was soo much fun and was soo nice to try some different ones. The food was beautiful & the portions were a very good size. I’ll definitely be coming back.

Great find - small intimate restaurant with the main dining area up stairs ( approx 15 stairs). All staff very professional and friendly. The food was excellent as was the service.

Excellent service from David and superb cooking from chef when I asked for a rare medium not mr kangaroo steak. It was Excellent. David was an excellent host and knowledgeable re wines too

Great family roast, my duck was cooked to my liking with a good selection of vegetables. Vegetables were Al dente, and as I’ve said in my other reviews, neither my partner or I like it this way, and wish restaurants would give the option for veg to be cooked to the sitters liking, but it’s not the end of the world. Gravy was tasty but a bit strong in flavour, which masked some of the other flavours on the plate. Nice addition of a pig in blanket but the stuffing was a bit too sweet for me, and the Yorkshire pud was slightly burnt. My partner and her sister had beef, and sadly it wasn’t the greatest cut, as it was quite fatty, and the overall piece was on the tuff side. Server could have done with being a bit chirpier, but might have been having an off day. Would recommend the Buxton Bitter if you like a good strong, tasty drink, like me.

A busy bar and restaurant, lively atmosphere, great staff, wide choice menu. There was a quiz on when we were there so we joined in, that was a fun twist to the evening. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Food was pretty good, catfish batter a little greasy, rib sauce a little claggy. All enjoyable though.

Excellent food and service. We were asked from arrival if we were attending the theatre. We were and every effort was made to make sure we were there on time.

Well Buxton you're coming up. Delightful eatery with knowledgeable staff attentive and pleasant. The food was lovely portions are BIG and very reasonable prices. Setting is contemporary but not brash gave a very relaxed feel. The decor is calming and all the little details (ladies room) made the visit one I'll do again. Well done ❤️

I came here with my partner and family for a Sunday roast and it was absolutely delicious! The beef was so tender and the veg was cooked to perfection! I’d recommend the roast to everyone but come hungry as it’s a lot of gorgeous food! Did manage to find room in the second stomach for pudding and I’m glad I did the chocolate fondant bomb desert was very enjoyable!

This is my favourite restaurant in Buxton. Whatever the occasion the food is always top notch. The service is excellent (which is saying something these days). We pop in regularly for tea or Sunday Lunch. Probably the only place outside of Yorkshire that can make a decent Yorkshire Pudding. Well done it’s always a pleasure!

Very busy place, packed on a Sunday evening probably due to the popular Sunday roasts,luckily our group of 6 just managed to grab the last of the beef and pork, huge portions of meat and veg, definitely will be back. Great host Dave,Staff all work really hard,thanks for a great fun evening.

The fried chicken burger was by far better than the classic beef burger (with cheese and bacon). This was a bit of a let down, the beef patty was below average. Service was good.

The food was amazing and I would 100% recommend this place. The atmosphere was amazing and so were the staff. The deserts are spectacular as well I recommend the chocolate fondant!

Lovely restaurant excellent service really nice atmosphere but food was a little disappointing I had white fish which was lovely but the potatoes were a little disappointing which were in a tomato and chorizo sauce think it was called John Dory, my husband had Duck and he said it was ok but nothing outstanding.

Myself and my partner came here for celebration drinks after we got engaged in Buxton, sitting on the sofa was great as we got to see the exchanges with all the other customers. The staff was so attentive and genuinely lovely people, the story of its inception is touching and you can see that it is a passion for all who work there. Even getting a cocktail made which was not on the menu. We will be going back next time we visit Buxton but this time for a meal. Would recommend

Nice experience, very nice ribeye steak, but sides were too small for me.

Amazing food, friendly staff, very reasonable prices and a great range of beers. What more can you want? Its clearly the place to eat in Buxton. All the flavours are very subtle, but in a good way. You can tell a lot of effort has gone into the menu. Me and my friend recommend everything on the menu we had.

Two starters, two mains, a drink each £60. Food was ok, would give 3.5 as opposed to a 4 tbh.

An annual lunch meet-up for old school friends in a landmark year: due to train cancellations & delays, the original booking had to be altered, which the management did without a problem. Our server (the manager/owner?) had a great manner and dealt with our various questions & foibles with humour. The food was excellent, as was the bottle of wine recommended to us. An excellent venue & great food - we will be back!

Poor inattentive service and very mediocre food. Extortionate £2.40 for a soda water!! Lost half a prosecco when waiter stuck his finger in the glass to take away and when realised there was still drink in it, left it back on the table! Like we would drink it then. No apology or replacement offered. Dried up tasteless chicken burger. Chips were OK and at least we're warm. Wasted £50. Would not recommend and will not be going back. Just awful.

Superb Sunday Roasts, and live entertainment most weekends. Well worth a visit.

We had a warm welcome to this clean tidy restaurant. Plenty of selection of drinks in a packed bar - varied menu with some twists on dishes. We enjoyed steaks and crumble and syrup pudding for dessert which were delicious. There was a Blues guitarist playing live which added to the very relaxed evening.

I went to Baileys with my wife and my mother, just turning up at the door without a booking (this was early evening on a Wednesday, after the restaurant we were planning to use was unexpectedly closed) and they found us a table easily. The waitress (Becky) was perfectly attentive and friendly. All three of us are varying amounts of deaf, so we're normally quite sensitive to a noisy venue, but here we could understand each other easily. Our meal was well-paced and unpressured, and the food was excellent at a sensible price. We'd be very happy to return on another occasion, and indeed we're intending to do exactly that next time we're in the area.

Had a fantastic meal here. It’s an unpretentious place but with friendly service. The food was excellent! I had duck breast and my husband had a ribeye steak, both were cooked perfectly. Pudding was great too.

I was in Bailey's this afternoon with my partner , son, granddaughter and her boyfriend .It was my son's treat for me for my birthday . The place is lovely. The food delicious and alround lovely atmosphere. It was smashing to see David the owner, as it's been a long time since I've seen him . If your looking for lovely food (especially the muckie chips )not really muckie but really delicious. And a relaxing atmosphere,then give Bailey's a try you won't regret it .

A regular visitor I absolutely love the food here, some of the best meals I have ever eaten. I can highly recommend the burgers and the desserts are fabulous too. Varied menu catering for a variety of tastes. Good wine menu too and always good service and a friendly welcome

Possibly the largest Sunday lunch around. Nice food and decent real ale list. A small plates Sunday lunch would be good though.

We tried Bailey's as a half way point to meet family for Sunday lunch. Food was excellent, very good portions. Staff were very helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend.
