The best restaurants in Derbyshire Dales East Midlands

I used to like this place and used over other local establishments in the area. I ordered a bacon baguette on this occasion to drive home 8 miles and eat my sandwich to find half way through eating there was chicken inside it... bonus if you like chicken... but myself can’t stand it and makes me ill eating it. So we rang up stating of what happened and no real offer for money back or anything. So for people who have allergies with white meat... beware as the woman stated “we cook all meat in one pan” won’t be back again... shocking.

Thanks so much for the perfect birthday lunch! Friendly staff, incredibly fresh food catering for veggies, vegans and meat eaters alike. Have been meaning to visit for ages and wasn’t disappointed. Thank you!

Catered Hen Party weekend, we had fabulous catering for a themed evening on Friday and a formal evening on Saturday. Both evening the food was great, but the formal evening meal was stunning. The entire team were accommodating, friendly, and left no trace that they had even been in the kitchen. Highly recommend for any private dining event.

It’s the first time we’ve had pizza here and it was absolutely outstanding, we will definitely be back. Thank you so much.

Don't order it - can you imagine a brioche bun with unrendered bacon with some cheese on top of scrambled egg and wait for it - on top of sweet chutney. I can safely say sweet chutney with scrambled eggs and fatty bacon will stay will me all my life - for all the wrong reasons. Seriously - its a gimmick to get a bit more money - but it was revolting

Excellent food, coffee etc, very helpful and friendly staff. We come here regularly after a swim and will continue to do so.

Amazing staff. They are always so helpful and patient and never rush and the prices are affordable It is an amazing place to eat if you want to support a local business or you just want to grab down food after you have been to carsington water or somewhere else like dovedale if you head back this way

We booked a table in the bar for three of us and our two little dogs but due to the glorious weather we dined at table 64 in the Courtyard. We visited as the third part of our trying out the Rob at Longbow trio of offerings at the Ashford Arms, The Maynard and The George. All three offer different but extensive menus though Wine list is common to all which was a bonus as we are fans of Rob’s recommendations. My only plea is to add at least a bottled Wheat beer to the drinks range. Firstly, it was much appreciated that smoking and non smoking were kept a reasonable distance apart so that non smokers are able to avail of outdoor dining. Also, table 64 was ideal for our Dandies to shelter from the strong sun and heat. We were extremely well looked after by the staff and primarily by Alice who ensured we had a high quality experience and that all food was as it should be. She was extremely knowledgeable about what should be on each plate and quickly spotted two omissions on my Lebanese Spiced Lamb ballotine which turned out to be absolutely delicious though not sure why the half pitta is served underneath it rather than alongside. The Katsu Chicken Curry and Mushroom&Oat Burger were equally delicious. A very good range of starters from which we had Sweet and Sour Prawns, Cured Sea Trout and Korean flavoured Scotch Egg - all well presented and very tasty with the standout being the Scotch Egg. We shared the cheese and a Grapefruit Tart. I would have liked the tart to have a more grapefruit flavour but apart from that it was lovely. In our view The George was well up there with the Ashford Arms on food, service and environment and we will certainly be back to both regularly. Beautiful delicious food and great service, great for a large dinner party as a catered option

Bought a salad box from here a few weeks ago, the gentleman in the shop was absolutely lovely and this was one of the best salads I have ever had. Will be back!

Scrummy ice cream & the kids loved getting the fresh milk flavoured with different syrups! We camped here for two nights - the showers were always hot and clean & the campsite was a lovely size, great for smaller kids playing safely outside.

Staff are always really friendly and helpful. As with any subway, there is a lot to choose from. They keep the areas clean and tidy which I like.

Amazing DJ playing and some great music. Music quiz later in the night but I’m sure the owner of the bar cheated 😂
