Having seen this place on hairy bikers my friends took me here for my birthday. Such a brilliant night. Food was amazing all freshly cooked and so tasty. Can highly recommend. Caribbean food at its best!

Wow! What an amazing find. Come and eat with Stella, in her conservatory, with her stunning food. Cameroon specialities, authentically cooked and served and the best bit, Stella comes and chats with you too. Can’t recommend highly enough.

Amazing food and a fabulous host. Food was beautifully cooked and the staff were very friendly and took great care of us. It was so interesting chatting to Stella about her experience and how she became an amazing chef. A must visit and highly recommend.

After months of talking about visiting Stellas, we finally booked a space at the saturday night buffet. We didnt know what to expect, and all we knew was that the photos of food online looked amazing. We arrived to our table and there were some drinks already set up for us. Stella came out with starters straight away. This is not like a normal buffet, Stella makes you 2 starters, then you get a plate of everything for your main meal and then a pudding. There is no 'choice' as such. I actually really liked this because you will try things that you wouldn't usually choose, eg I am not a fan of peanuts, but one of the dishes was a satay style dish. I tried it, and it was actually really nice - i would never choose a satay dish. Stella serves you your main meal in her kitchen, she invites you in a table at a time and plates it up for you. We were all told that because she wasnt fully booked we could have seconds and thirds, 'You can keep going until its gone!' She was happy to discuss the food, and told us what everything was. The goat curry was amazing! The pudding was a home made ginger cake and some ice cream - absolutely fantastic. All in all, for £30 per person, it was very good value for the quality and volume of food that you get. Stella doesnt have a licence, so she allows you to bring your own booze, which is a nice touch. You are in Stellas conservatory, so you are in her home. Expect to see her grandchildren (her 5 year old grandaughter was chatting to the diners) and her husband, coming in and out. We really loved this, it made for a very relaxed atmosphere. We will visit again, without question. 5 Star!!!

We were disappointed but sounds like it may be better if you eat in, we had a catering type service at £35 a head. It was delivered late, the starters were cold and lacking in quantity and flavour. The only side dish provided was rice and dumplings, no plantain or anything interesting. The mains were all very greasy and the fish curry extremely fishy and unpleasant. It had been ordered for a large group and when we needed to reduce the group size by one, 3 days prior to the date, this couldn’t be accommodated. This seemed pretty inflexible when you’re spending over £600 and you can be sure they would have happily accepted an additional order request! To top it off we were then required to return the dishes the following day, half an hour drive in the opposite direction to home. Overall very unimpressed and felt it was not worth the money spent at all.

Can’t go wrong with Stella’s curry and rice. My 7 year old daughter requested it specifically and it is so flavourful!

Superb food and great evening at Stella's kitchen ! The conservatory was warm and cosy on a day when it was minus 10 outside! Log burner was roaring away. The welcome and service was brilliant ! We had a set meal which was 2 vegetarian starters - beignetes with herbs and a fiery hot home made sauce and sweet chilli sauce. Generous portions of mutton curry, pork and spinach curry both tender and delicious. Beans in a sauce, coconut rice and fried plantains. Mango juice to drink. Dessert was a pineapple crumble and all really delightful. Patrick gave me tips on lighting a log burner and some starter logs which worked brilliantly. So kind❤️ I highly recommend and will return.

A great little restaurant serving home cooked West African / Caribbean food. There are just a few tables and the atmosphere is friendly, casual and welcoming. We had chicken and groundnut stew, mutton curry, plantain and beautifully light and fluffy beignets.

Absolutely loved Stella's Kitchen. The restaurant is in the conservatory of her lovely house set in the countryside, felt really homely. We watched the chickens and cats in the gardens as we ate. The Sunday roast (pork and beef, sweet potato, roast potatoes, a fried dumpling, spiced/ seasoned cabbage and THE BEST gravy) was faultless. Stella was really friendly and we took cakes to go as we were so full - also amazing. Will definitely be back next time we're in the area. Thank you!

As I said to Stella - “I’ve never eaten anywhere like this & that’s a positive”. If you are looking for something completely different this is the place for you. This is the ultimate home cooked food. Sat in Stella’s conservatory you feel like you’ve been invited to a dinner party. “Pop in the kitchen and help yourself if you want seconds”. Myself and wife have allergies and were very well looked after and informed what we couldn’t have and given replacements. I’ve not even spoke about the food - wonderful delicious food my wife’s not a fish fan but absolutely loved the fish curry - this was also served with a generous chicken thigh and leg. This was a decent portion of food. Stella joined us all and three random groups and her chatted before and after pudding. Bring your own drinks and have a wonderful friendly evening - highly recommended.

My partner and I visited here whilst we were out cycling in the peaks and were keen to visit Stella’s kitchen as it was highly rated by all. Now first things first, the food was flipping fantastic, hot, home cooked, plentiful and good value for money Stella was a wonderful host, super chatty and clearly loved looking after and cooking her her guests. However, as a diner, there are some things you should probably be aware of before you visit 1) Location - The restaurant/venue is literally the conservatory of Stella’s house. You walk up the drive, up to her house and walk into a space that has 5/6 tables in it which are all fairly closely located to one another If you can get your head around the fact that you feel as if you are popping over to a friends for dinner then you will be just fine. There is even a table set up in Stella’s kitchen where dinner is served 2) Buffet - This is not a buffet in the way you would normally expect, it’s more like a set menu. In essence, starters are set and arrive at your table. When it comes to the main, you go into the kitchen (yes Stella’s actual kitchen) where there is a range of mains to choose from and you are generally provided a large helping of everything (Caribbean style home cooked food). Dessert again was fixed and we had pineapple and mango crumble with ice cream 🍦 Food was lovely but bring elasticated trousers as the volume is substantial You will also need to bring your own drink 🍺 as it is not a licensed premises 3) Price - There are no prices on the websites, no menu at the table and therefore no idea what you will pay (the price was £30 per person FYI - they take card) 4) Timings - As the setting is pretty intimate, it’s defo not the kind of place where to can grab dinner in an hour and leave. You all arrive at 7pm and we were still there at 9.30pm ish. Now that’s great if you are there for the whole evening but a bit tricky if you want to leave a bit earlier as you may feel it’s rude to do so (as we did). This was a meal and setting we didn’t quite expect but we embraced it and had a lovely evening. All in all we had a tasty dinner and one we throughly enjoyed due to Stella’s hospitality.

Went for a family party on Saturday evening and it was fantastic. Food was excellent, Service was awesome and a great evening was had by all. £30 per head was amazing value. If you want a great informal night with wonderful food and hosts than this is the place for you. I loved it and look forward to returning.

We booked an evening meal after seeing Stella on The Hairy Bikers. The weather was lovely so we all sat outside. It was amazing to try different foods that I haven't eaten before and it was very tasty. Stella is a bundle of fun and her stories were interesting. It was also nice to chat to other couples on neighbouring tables.

Our friends booked speculatively, having heard that its reputation and managed to get in on a cancellation as we understand there is normally a two week or longer waiting list. We had seen it on a TV cookery show. It was really interesting and a great find. A set meal with non-alcoholic cocktail and water: in this case a served starter and sweet, but a buffet main. A choice of three curries ( or some of each in our case) rice and fried plantain. All full of flavour, very well cooked, nicely presented and an opportunity for a second helping all at a fixed price. The seating is within a heated conservatory with a few additional seats in the kitchen. Probably 20 covers maximum. There is no licence but you can bring your own alcohol. The hosts were very welcoming and friendly and we would certainly visit regularly if we did not live 200 miles away. It is in a farm in an isolated location, so could easily be missed if you are not very observant. Well worth the visit.

After issues with communication (unanswered phone calls and sporadic email responses) attempting to order a take away, we decided to go to order in person. We were warmly welcomed and got chance to chat to some happy customers who had just finished eating their lunches. Stella disappeared to see what she had and we ended up with a chicken curry, a fish dish, lovely rice, and a piece of her Everything Cake. I was a little concerned to read the Hygiene Ratings but needn’t have worried - the food was really delicious! It’s in the middle of nowhere, all a bit haphazard, with a slightly scruffy looking approach but you’ll love the food, love Stella and have a story to tell.

Wow wow wow what a find in the middle of this beautiful country just 15 min walk from Eyam food was absolutely amazing, mutton curry with jollof rice, pineapple coleslaw, scotch bonnet chilli sauce , sorrel /hibiscus petals drink, a ginger and mango punch, a legendary homemade ginger cake all around 25 quid all super homemade food could not recommend it enough 💚💛♥️🖤

We really enjoyed our sharing meat platter, tasty tender pork and chicken served with spinach and rice. I would recommend that you save room for Stellas cakes. The ginger cake is so light moisty and delicious.

I discovered Stellas during lockdown and was absolutely delighted when I could take a colleague with me for the latest lunchtime menu. It was absolutely, beyond, fantastic! Taste like no other and memorable for all the right reasons. I thought the takeaways couldn’t get any better, I was wrong, dining in Stellas garden and being served by Stella and her team too just made it the most perfect meal in years. We absolutely love Stella’s goat curry. We have had it delivered to us for special occasions in the Lake District, Peak District and Devon. We look forward as a family to eating together in Stella’s dining room post-COVID

So disappointed! The mutton/goat curry was ridiculously greasy. We had to tip the fat into another tub before trying to eat it. Then to find the majority of the “meat” was fat.Also gave us basmati rice instead of coconut.

If you’re staying near Hope Valley, you simply must try Stella’s. The goat curry is tremendous, the jerk wings are incredible, and I highly recommend the ginger cake. To avoid disappointment, It is worth checking which dishes are available on what days (on the website), as not all are available on each day. Although everything we had from there was amazing, so probably not much of an issue!
