What a little gem of a find. Highly recommended. We met friends for our traditional pre-Christmas Sunday lunch get-together. I searched on-line for a pub/restaurants approx half way between us (Sheffield & Leics) & took a punt on The Red Lion at Kniveton based upon its good reviews. We weren't disappointed. The food was excellent - all 3 courses were delicious - and the friendly service & atmosphere made it an outstanding choice. We will definitely return.

Saturday lunch with partner on a long weekend in Bakewell. Lovage food is pretty much what you'd expect of a Michelin starred place. At lunchtime it's really a "tasting menu" only in name, since the five courses include some hefty nibbles and a tastefully small soup course. But it's all outstandingly good - notably for me the beetroot course. And the non-brownie brownie at the end, which I wasn't really looking forward to, was gorgeous. Interesting and enjoyable wine flight as well, served by a knowledgeable and friendly sommelier. We would have preferred to eat in the evening but couldn't get in so went for lunch instead. We've never been so pleased to have a noisy table of 10 in the same dining room. Without them it would have been just the two of us in a good-sized room and - much as I adore my partner - a near-zero atmosphere experience. Must be lovely when full (also like my partner - boom, boom).

I had the most delicious pizza. The base was tasty, thin and crispy and the crust was perfect. The toppings were fresh and also tasted amazing! I would have loved more toppings!

I could stay all day and eat...cakes are super delish! Coffee is soo good. Lunches are great.
